I think the weird part is. Somewhere in the background I have a feeling there is a team working on the game right now. Just Bioware is keeping it super secret. Hmmm. I wonder?

Sometimes I think the same way, but then the other, more rational side of my mind steps in and tells me it won't happen. If it does, I hope it won't be a botched sequel, or a game so different from the original that it will end up having nothing to do with Jade Empire as we know it.

Story wise Im not sure how they could make a sequel due to the endings of Jade Empire 1.  Dont get me wrong, its possible!  Im all for a prequel even.  I know rpg elitists think Jade Empire is a dumbed down RPG but even they have to admit the world and story in Jade Empire 1 was pretty amazing and I put it up there with KOTOR story.

They could easily do another sequel for a few reason. I'm going to state them. Immagine inviata
The first reason is the history and mythology and history of the empire itself.
The second reason is the other parts of the empire we didn't get to explore.  There is just so much to learn about the empire and what elese it holds. Besides their could be another diety lieing around.

Explain this to me? I'm a little confused by what you mean enunciation. Where was this in the game?

Sorry, I meant accent.

I recall from an article that there were rumors they had started making JE2, but it got scrapped during the early development stages (probably when they were bought by EA and focused more on DA:O and ME1)

Now with DA2, ME3 and SWTOR, I don't think there's any time for a JE2 (unless they decide to make another studio somewhere to purely work on it). /is a very sad panda

It's almost ... ironic (for lack of a better word) ... that JE's lack of follow up is likely due to the success of Dragon Age and Mass Effect series.  If either DA or ME flopped financially, they might have decided to go with a second Jade Empire instead.  As it is -- and someone who knows more about sales figures than I can correct me -- I think JE's sales pale in comparison to both DA and ME, and thus it was the title that was scrapped to make room for the other two.

From a personal standpoint, I'd rather BioWare worked on JE2 (or another JE game in that setting) than The Old Republic.  I'm not a fan of MMORPG, especially ones I'll have to pay a monthly fee to play.  But it's going to be a cash cow, so I don't blame Bio for going in that direction.

Maybe, hopefully, one of these days JE's setting will be revisited, even if it's not in its original form.

well I like to think that the team that will finish ME3 will start on Jade Empire 2.  Bioware already has a team in place for Old Republic and another team that will probably continue work with Dragon Age after DA2 releases.

So Jade Empire 2 for release in 2015!

I completely agree. This may just happen also if you think about it in another perspective. Jade Empire is a very fantastic world with more weird and crazy creatures. I wonder if Bioware would be willing to go the MMO route with this series. I'm willing to pay for it. Its got some very wonderful colors and the landscape is just brilliant. Plus with all the mythology the world has its practically an MMO already. Immagine inviata

I hope they don't make it an MMO. I'd then have the same attitude toward it that I have toward The Old Republic. That is, intrigued by the concept but not at this moment willing to spend on a monthly fee.

I think an MMO would not be very appealing for JE. There are tons of the mythical Asian MMOs in Asia, and they usually don't appeal to Western markets.

I think they should revamp it, make it take place many hundreds/thousands of years later, so that BW doesn't have to consider continuity (make up an excuse such as one of the emperors burning most records, as historically it has happened many times) I think that would work.

Do I think Jade Empire would make a good/decent MMO? yes.

Would I like it? no, I dont play MMOs.

Would it happen? Bioware wouldnt make another MMO, haha. They would be shooting themselves in the foot by releasing an MMO to compete with Old Republic.

I've been wanting a JE2 for years and years...

But seeing what BioWare's idea of a sequel is after ME2 and the details on DA2, I don't think I do anymore.

All those wonderful characters that made JE so amazing will be gone. What would be the point?

The point of making a great game. I liked ME 2. I think a lot of the game was kind of corny, but I'm still waiting for ME 3. We will see what happens from when the final game comes out and see if Bioware is listening to the fans. Now as for DA2. I'm just going ot wait to see the end result on it. Besides David and all the other creators of the game stated on the forums which you might have seen. They said If the games a blister you can tell them WE told you so and I think everyone of the fans will let them have it. Immagine inviata

But Jade Empire is not ME and its not DA. Its a totally different type of games. Its really the first of its kind which is why it is so unique and deserves a legendary sequel. I'm not saying make a third game or make a prequel. I'm just saying it deserves one more game with updated graphics. The game was great, but their could still be improvement upon the fighting styles and controls. Its the first action/fighting/RPG. I've never see a game like it before. Its different its colorful and it is very fun to play so why not get a sequel. Immagine inviata

I guess I look at these games differently than you do.  For me, it's the universe/setting that appeals to me.  Just like in Dragon Age, I'm not bothered by not being able to play my Warden again, I wasn't bothered to play as The Exile in KOTOR II (I know that wasn't made by BioWare, but it still applies), and to be honest, I wouldn't have been bothered to not play Shepard again in ME2.  So I wouldn't be bothered to not play as the Spirit Monk in JE2, either.

Same applies to the companions.  Don't get me wrong, I loved most of my companions in all of the games (KOTOR, JE, ME, DA:O), but I'm also fine with new companions, *so long as they're interesting as well*.

It's the setting that draws me in.  To be frank, I wasn't all that into the majority of my companions in JE.  What I was interested in was this fantastic setting that BioWare came up with; the culture, the history, the locations.  That's what I found appealing.

So in that sense, they can change all the characters if they want, but so long as the setting stays true to what we saw or read about in Jade Empire, then I'd be all for it.

I share the exact same views about games as you do friend. Playing with the same people all the time is boreing. It makes the world feel small being stuck with the same circle of people forever. I what would be the point of createing these massive, detailed worlds if your simply going to stick with the same tight knit group? I want to experience as much of the game world as possible. As long as the story is good enough to take me for a ride thats all I need....Aside from that if you stick with one character too long, they become OP and anything they do would be triviel and a waste of their godly time. The Warden is stressing this point and Commander Shepard is fast approaching.

I kinda get the feeling it was started and then scrapped. They strongly hinted at it so many times, and yet nothing has surfaced. Makes me kind of think it must have gone to development hell or something.

Yeah, there was actually an article from what looked like an early development design of the characters selection HUD. I can't remember where the article was, but it was really a different take from what I remember.

I blame EA. I mean, Jade Empire was not as successful as ME and DA:O, so it's assumed that it's not worth investing on doing the Jade Empire sequel.

This JE situation takes me to another situation just like this with Hideo Kojima. I've been waiting for Zone of the Enders 3 for many years now, but he can never make it because the publishers continuesly force him into Metal Gear over and over. That might be the same situation with JE Immagine inviata

I know this may not do anything, but it maybe a good way to show Bioware how many people would get Jade Empire 2.

If anyone here is from America, they may remember how Betty White got to host SNL? Someone made a Facebook page and had a ridiculously lage number of people "like" it.

There already is a Jade Empire 2 page, although it's actualy hosted by IGN.

http://xbox360.ign.c...718/718964.html

There are currently only 13 people who have 'liked' the idea of a JE2.

What do you think?

Nope its called 14. Now I think its time we increased the numbers. holla! I'm wondering those how you would create a facebook page for Jade Empire 2. I think it would be interesting. I'm wondering if you would do it under groups. I guess I could do that. Give me a moment I'm going to create a Jade Empire 2 group on Facebook. I don't have a twitter and I'm not about to start one, but give me a moment. Tooneyman is still in this war. Its a part time hobby, but I'll try to help out the best I can. Holla!Immagine inviata

I vaguely remember when EA bought bioware, one of the very first things they said was they were very, very interested in the JE franchise.

It's more likely an internal resource decision thing, DA and ME were further along in development and it would have cost far more to cut them than to suspend JE development.

That is, if JE development has been suspended... Who knows. I wish bioware would at least say "no, it's not in development" rather than all these vague hints and ambiguity.
