Directly from the Magazine: "You may be controlling a different character in dragon age 2, but the choices your grey warden made in origins are still imported from your save and reflected in the world. Who is leading ferelden? Who defeated the Archdemon? These questions are vital in determining the current state of the dragon age universe, and the team at BioWare want to make sure your decisions carry over- even if you want to play Dragon Age 2 on a different platform."

What does that mean for those of us who will be switching from 360/PS3 to the PC in order to keep the strategic combat? Can we somehow still continue our choices from a different platform?

That would be cool -- our decisions carry over that are stored into your account, no matter which platform you're on.

Maybe it has something to do with the fact that we have to "login" when we start the game?

Does that mean that all of our information (choices, etc) is stored on our "account"?

Would be neat!

@ OP...

Are these the exact words there are in the magazine? Not a single wrong comma in your transcription?

Because if it so it just makes me think that the reporter may have misundertood what they told him.. is not that they told him that you can set at the beginning of the game some things like who is leading ferelden, who defeated the Archdemon and so on? Becuase the only possible way I know to switch from a platform to another is only by insert a serie of question at the beginning of the game where you can set these things

Therefore there are 2 options...

1 - Import of saved gamed and no possibile platform switch
2 - Platform switch by choosing your option at beginning of the game with a question list

it would be cool, but i suspect it must be the same platform. you could always buy the pc version of origins and play a new game. :-) talk about costly, though.

Truth be told I do not know for certain if it is an exact quote. I got it from a third source which states it is a direct quote from the magazine. I do not see much of a reason to lie though, so I would think it would be credible. If someone who actually possesses the magazine could confirm/deny the statement, I would be grateful.

I have no reason for not trusting you... I was just asking for a confirmation.. You know, sometimes even a single wrong word could change the sense of a sentence.

Unless you won't have both options, Import of saved game, or ,if you switch platform questions at the beginning; obviously by choosing the 2nd option you won't have all of your small decisions but only the major ones.. It would be cool cause this would mean they won't introduce canon for any reason...

But these are just my speculations.. We can't do anything but wait for further and more clear news...

It's an interesting concept if all your warden's decisions are carried out from the first one.

I've read this in another thread already. I can't stop imagining how awesome that will be.
This is the first franchise where you actually transform the lore of the universe (well, Mass Effect was the first one but DA is another whole level).
You make history with each title that comes out, and that's priceless.

About the OP's question. A cross-platform saving system of sorts would be a nice asset to the Social Network. I wouldn't use it because I don't have a console but it's something to ponder.

I'm not switch consoles, but that is a great idea, well done to Bioware for this idea.

I sure hope I can import manually. My account hasn't updated since I bought the game and any attempt to get it to work has been in vain.
