More depths in the dialog with your teammates.

Just the banter and armored squad in space... except for that, ME 2 is just improvement... ok, and this board was less frustrating back then...

The not so predictable plot and the fewer plotholes. And the Citadel- I miss walking around in there...

The only thing is the squad conversing with eachother. It seems they have never met eachother in ME 2. Other than that, ME 2 does everything better x10

Scanning the keepers.
Oh wait. Not that.
The Mako - but I'd only want it back periodically. Just replayed ME1 - got to Therum and a couple of Uncharted Worlds and was feeling the Mako love. After 20+ side quests.... not so much.

I do have to say, I miss the loot. How they defined it in the inventory is another matter.
Also:
Better paced story
The squad and squad banter
Better combat to rpg / exploration ratio
Better music
The Citadel, especially the presidium
The uncharted planets
The bigger environments. The level design in ME 2 felt too linear.

Few loading screens (elevators, ship decontamination better IMO)
Weapon Inventory
Toggle Helmets
Citadel
Planet exploration (I took it for granted, now we have stupid scanners)

For me it's banter. It makes the game better.
RPG elements
Immersion
Music
The Citadel
A more "open" world feel
The Mako
Elevators
....
I pretty much disagreed completely with peoples ME1 complaints
I agree with all of the points....specially the armor/weapon customization.

The music ............wha????
ME2 had an awesome soundtrack, better than the first IMO.

The music in Mass Effect 2 was great and all PraetorianGuard, but don't you miss those background tunes while walking on the citadel or strolling through the Normandy's halls. It was music like that that made me fall in love with the series. Don't get me wrond....I bought ME 2's soundtrack and everything and I love it....a true masterpiece...but other ME1 fans have to agree that it sounds very different from the first game and the atmosphere that it brought forth.

Sniping some poor schmuck from half a kilometer up on some mountain while the light of two moons reflect on my rifle... yeah... I miss that.
Hell yes! This! The close quarters and linier levels of ME2 killed all the epic sniping I enjoyed on my Infiltrator in ME1.
Outside of that:
Armor for Squadmates
Toggle Helmets
Squad Banter
Elevators (I've played both console and PC version, though PC loads faster, the elevator works exactly like a loading screen, but doesn't break the action.)
Better exploration

Banter, banter, banter, banter.
You can go through Moridin's mission with Grunt in tow and he says nothing at all. This to me breaks the immersion more than anything else.
