If you ask me Elevators got irritating when go back and fourth missions on the citadel.
But I liked in Mass effect 1:
Most missions are related to the story (ME2 really only had squad missions)
Mako - I loved exploring planets
Way more skills
Level cap
All the missions people give you I.E. Admiral Hackett are fun than planet missions in ME2
What do you miss most from ME 1?

I'm surprised these threads still pop up this late after release.
ME2 is still being sold, and played for the first time, likely most people buying it now have played ME1 first.
Originally heard about ME2 on the DA:O forums, but wasn't sure about it.
I bought ME1 (for $20) two months ago, to try it out, and since I wanted to have a save game to import to ME2

Not having to worry about ammo, I tire of trolling around corpses looking for generic clips, and is it me of did technology take a step backwards in the 2 years you spend dead? The guns used to cool themselves, now they don't, they just retain heat until they become unusable and you need to replace the clip, the clips should at least regenerate/cool when you're not shooting.

-Ash. My beautiful Ash. How I long for thee.
-In-mission banter between squad mates. It seems like there was more interaction between them in the first game. I didn't like the more-isolated approach that was taken with all the characters. It never seemed like any of them knew each other well.
-Wrex.

My mind.
I mean, the party banter in the elevators, and love interests that were actually interesting and not just nerd eye candy.

Kaidan. I knew we weren't going to be seeing much of him or Ash in ME2, but I still hoped we'd be getting a lot more than we actually did.
Also, weapons and armour with visible stats. I don't care about the quantity of weapons and armour - I just want to be able to compare their stats in-game.
Furthermore, the Mako. I must prefer driving to hovering, thanks - plus the Mako just seems to be a lot tougher than the Hammerhead.

the hassle-free weapons, man i miss not having to worry about running out of ammo in my favourite gun. liara, and ash. and of course, the witty banter.
though i have noticed that zaeed talks a fair bit during missions which is nice.

Mako and the scale of the Citadel, why get rid of an area they already developed so well?

Miss: Customizing the weapon. I don't care about 1.5X to headshots with a sniper rifle. Explosive ammo was way more fun.
Hate: Thermal clips. Seriously, who though up heatsinks that never dissipate heat?
Love: Not having to constantly replace the mods on the weapon/armor and change weapon/armor as better version become avaliable. Task one button for "equip best version of this avaliable" and ME1 had it right.

Regarding ELEVATORS...
Sure they were just an obvious mask for loadscreens - but surely actual loadscreens are not preferable whatsoever to the chirpy little dialogue. Which IMO would have made the citadel even more of a pain to navigate as it was clearly going to have to be a bunch of seperate areas. The quest-giving mechanic with the radio announcements was pretty neat IMO too, which wouldn't really have worked in ME2 as you could wander away from terminals and miss the announcements.

Roughly in order from most missed to least, but all missed:
Strong central story
Clear villain you actually get to fight more than three times
Squadmates wearing armor in combat
Ash/Kaiden and Liara
Weapon and armor mods
Mako
Alliance-style uniforms (Cerberus outfits are ug-ly)
grenades (heavy weapons are okay, but just not the same)

-Hackett
-Enemy variety: The "frog" geths and the snipers
And that's pretty much it.

...wut?

- Helmet Toggle (It can't be a difficult aesthetic tweak to make surely!)
- Much longer main story missions (Final mission in ME1 was about twice as long as the ME2 final mission!)
- Involvement with Alliance (only 1 mission from Admiral Hackett about Normandy SR1)
- More Team Armour (not reskins!) and more team Banter (Wrex & Liara don't even acknowledge Tali!)
- More Citadel (couldn't they copy & paste the levels/models from ME1?)
That's about the only serious changes I'm not keen on, I'm indifferent about other changes between ME1 & ME2

Helmet toggle. Everything else is either superior in ME2 or unnecessary (Citadel for example, it has not story purpose outside the defined areas so its redundant and wasteful in production to bother with adding more).
