Good things happen when the boss of the dungeon is supposed to be insane. It's not the final look and the decoration has just started, but I'm excited by it and want to share.

fun with tilesets

more fun with tilesets

even more fun

first screen with lights on

I expect this is going to be an area for archers to shine by taking advantage of the multiple heights and ledges designed to buy time for extensive volleys of missile weapons.

Wow! I almost like it better with the lights on. It would make an awesome Sheikh's Palace with the Harem's entertainment area up in that sunken area on the second floor.

You, my friend, have found the joys of normal map textures. They can be very, very stark when employed correctly. Problem is, though, that it is tough on the eyes in some situations.

Not discovered them so much as using them here for the effect I want (insane dungeon builder remember). Really what I'm going for here is an open floor plan interior to try to get some running battles.

I like the sheik's palace idea. But the tileset is missing a few tiles I need to not have to put in the snake columns to hide things, not enough variations of the tiles with column corners.

Totally awe inspiring, kamalpoe. I want to know, though, how did you get Fraps to show only the viewport of the toolset when you made those? Did you have to edit the overall screen shot, or were you able to 'define' a Fraps'd viewing window? The use of the toolset to move around gave that a nearly Doom-like feel to watching things as you navigated in that. Very cool, all the way around and not just video, the areas look ama - za - zing. Thanks for sharing those.

I just opened fraps, then went back into the toolset and hit f9 (the fraps record video button). I've only ever used fraps for video maybe 5 times. I didn't know it normally works another way.

My videos stop after 30 seconds, so I made two since I couldn't do the flythrough of everything I wanted in one. I assume this is because I just have the free download version of fraps.

Like all my areas, this will be released on the vault.

NEAT! I always did like big indoor plants. Can't wait to see who inhabits it. I wonder what the green lighting implies. Underground Mushroom Grotto for a NE Silvanus sect?

The following three areas are based on prefabs I've altered, extensively. Sometimes you'll be fighting the elements as much as the monsters.
Sandstorm
blizzard
desert town

The following are my own.
unusual town
Temple of Old Night
Calimport Muzad

My favorite bugfix:
[added] If Mu'tasin is in your party he will deck the Sythillisian sargent for comments the sargent makes, you get bonus xp for awesomeness when this happens. This does prevent you from completing the sargent's quest, but the journal will close and reflect that.

I don't remember Chir having much interaction when I purposely picked her and took her through the entire game. Anyway, a companion rundown, I thought I'd posted one at one time but I guess not.

Kvas, a gnome rogue. He joins you immediately at the beginning of the game. Kvas is supposed to be your best friend. This means you can sometimes have him act in conversation without the other person noticing as you run a con game. Every once in a while you can defer to him in conversation and he will take over, giving you no choice in the conversation. He has a thing for elven hookers.

Tan, a tiefling ranger. He is not happy go lucky. For some reason, he has no animal companion.

Carcarin, a female wizard from Calimshan. She specializes in summoning and is particularly interested in demons. Her tongue is sharper than a sword.

Mu’Tasin, a half orc cleric. He loves wine, women, and gold, and doesn’t particularly care if the women actually love him back.

Alira, a female elven rogue. Kicked out of elven society for worshipping an evil god, she hates elves.

Timoteo, a halfling wizard. He’s the designated “funny companion”. He loves undead, maybe a little too much.

Laisera, a female human cleric. She zealously and singlemindedly worships the Bhaalspawn (yes, that Bhaalspawn, Path of Evil assumes you chose the evil god ending of BG).

The Tortured King, a fighter. Yes I’m being specifically vague.

Companions are joined at level one and then you get to level them up to your level. Multiclassing is allowed and Kaedrin’s is supported but not required (I personally am using it during testing). Because they can have strong feelings about things, once in a while a companion will interject themselves into a conversation, causing you to lose control of the conversation. Each has several thousand words of dialog if you choose to talk with them, you can ask them about each other, quests, etc. They will also spout barkstrings in various places. NPC’s will recognize the ones that are locals, such as Carcarin being recognized in the town she’s found in. If they have particular expertise in an area, you can have them do tasks to automatically succeed. Alira is an expert forger for instance. They might also step forward if you fail at a task. Each companion has a sidequest of their own.

I wish I had more time on my hands kamalpoe. This one really sounds like it's up my alley in terms of gameplay options. I'm not so sure about playing evil, but then I did DM for a while, maybe I've just grown tired of being the bad guy all the time? :)

I'm just as surprised as you. Not that it isn't worthy, I am going to unstick it, though. I agree, it must have been accidental. I know I didn't do it.
