I'd love to see him complaining that someone is using the mechanic of getting old, I'm pretty sure real life used it before him.Tooneyman wrote...
Fable did this! Its not an old mechanic!. Just I don't know if bioware knows how to go about something like this with out getting yelled at by another company. I already see peter yelling. They stole my ideas and bioware shouting. But we make better games then you!
Still, would be a darn good argument.

I hope there are some signs of aging for the characters. After 10 years of fighting the characters should have a few more lines on their face. I also hope you can change your hair throughout the game. I definitely don't have the same hair I had 10 years ago.

I'm curious to see how the bit about being told in the past tense by various narrators works out. I'm guessing that as time goes on we'll see changed versions of the cities and npc's kind of like you see between Ostagar in DAO and Ostagar in RTO. The more these changes can differ based on decisions, the cooler. Don't want to get ahead of myself though.
At any rate, that's a way of saying, yeah, I think the NPC's will age a bit. Not gradually like a person would really age. But whenever you get a new version of an area (note: personal speculation, not confirmed feature...though seems obvious), the NPC's could be a bit older or dead or have moved, what with cities changing and all.
As for the PC (player character...not personal computer or penguin commando), I"m less sure. Letting you select how you age would be awkward. Kind of like...oh by the way...put down that sword, Hawke. Do you have a beard? Yes, no? Salt and pepper thing with your hair. Some scars? Or maybe a stripe like the leader of the Gremlins? Okay, bam, you're older. Now back to the game. So I'm leaning towards your PC doesn't age or it's out of your control. Unless, the time advancement has enough of skip that it makes sense to reintroduce some character customization at that time.

You don't have to make it be player choice - adding a few small scars wouldn't really change much about your char, but it would show aging. Depending on the age of Hawke, you could add some "salt and pepper thing with your hair." Of course, if Hawke goes from age 20 to 30, that would not be an option.

And I'd actually really like the opportunity to "retweak" my Hawke whenever there was a timeskip, too. So, whilst stuff like wrinkles and whatnot would automatically get added, I could give him a new haircut/beard/whatever.

Maybe a few eye winkles, abit taller?. don't touch the hair! i was going to suggest a few streaks of grey or a lighter hair colour but bioware aren't known for their hair.

Certainly it'd be quite possible to show characters aging though, It'd just require significantly more head morphs and the changes would have to be very slight. (And tbh, Bioware can have some really funky head morphs.... I'm referring to you triangle-jawed man at the start of Awakening)
Having Hawke age is another story though, and will probably happen.

10 years doesn't need to lead to any dramatic changing. A few wrinkles there, a grey hair here
bigger boobs...
