what I mean by pointless they add nothing to the story...I'm not gonna pick the obvious I am sure a lot people are pick that one, so my vote is for the grand oak tree. Well I wouldn't call grand oak tree a pointless character...I just him back.

Sandal & Bodahn! Herren & Wade! Bann Teagan (fled Ferelden to escape Isolde)! Those bandits that try to mug you outside Lothering would be interesting to see again (assuming Hawke see's them before the Warden arrives, as they have a tendency to end up dead). Oh! And Sergeant Kylon. And Master Ignacio. Maybe we could see those sisters from the Denerim chantry doing missionary work?!

 Sandal. I mean seriously, you find him surrounded by dead bodies and all he can say is "ENCHANTMENT!" There's some serious combat ability hidden behind this mental dink of a character. Not only would I like to see him as a cameo, I'd like to see him as a companion.
