It is neither my place to condemn certain PC gamers for being elitist nerds or certain console gamers for being 12 year olds, and neither is it your place to condemn me for not condemning them, but changes have been made amidst the cross-over of Dragon Age: Origins to Dragon Age 2, in order to tailor to the desires of a certain majority of individuals, for better or for worse, and I know that this is a long sentence.

Here is what we know so far

- Revamped graphics
Yes! Dragon Age: Origins has (by far) the worst graphics of any Xbox 360 game I own! No Offense... Great Game

- New Visual Style
Ok, this may count as revamped graphics, but visual style is something different that can make or break a game. Everyone knows the only reason anyone bought Phsyconauts was because of this, and although the story of Bioshock is amazing, without its art style it would be a shelf warmer.

- Mass Effect style dialogue choices, instead of branching dialogue trees
I liked this about Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2. This should work well.

- New combat system for consoles, featuring the "control pad'
This sounds a little sketchy, but do not fret, mechanics for PC gamers are virtually unchanged and the console changes seem like vast improvements, focusing on action. Don't even start with the "Hurr Fable 3" yet though because this game will retain is RPG elements.

- Play as Hawke, a human that comes with his/her own pre-set backstory
Can't say I'll miss playing as the inferior races, and choosing a backstory will not be missed either. There just weren't enough background related quests in Dragon Age: Origins or Mass Effect to warrant having that feature. I think a more intense story can be told by Bioware. I am happy to hand over the reins. Hawke will still be customizable, and the Hawke I've seen looks pretty bad ass. So far we know that he/she abandoned Lothering during a darskpawn invasion, becomes ruler of Kirkwall, is voiced, and will be the focus of the Dragon Age 2 story.

Choices from Dragon Age: Origins will carry over
Such choices include who killed the Archdemon and who is ruling Fereldan.

-
The game takes place over the course of 10 years
I bet all the main characters in the game will age, but you move from city to city during different chapters of the game and can never go back because Bioware didn't want to make all the NPC's age. Here's to hoping you don't spend 5 of the 10 years in the prison of your arch nemesis for committing a crime you didn't do.

-
There will be returning characters
I'd bet my life on Allistair, Morrigan, and her demon baby. If I were a dev I'd put Sandal in an obscure corner of the Fade.

- Determine who Hawke is through your decisions, while simultaneously rising to power and gaining allies
This is where it sounds like a Mass Effect/Fable 3/Dragon Age hybrid.

I may add more when there is more to add.
Did I miss anything?
This is not a 'concerns' thread, but rather a list of confirmed features with my sincere opinions.
Feel free to voice your own while making sure aforementioned opinions are about the game, not other posters...

-Revamped Graphics/New Visual Style

Yes, very much needed. DA:O's graphics ranged from good (on high end PC's) to crappy (X-Box 360). Visually everything just seemed so damn cliche'! I welcome the new look!

-Mass Effect Dialog choices

I think both voiced and non-voiced dialog systems have their benefits and draw-backs. So I really don't care to much one way or the other.

-New Combat System

I don't care what the combat system is like... as long as it's fun and doesn't get stale.

-Play as Hawke, a human that comes with his/her preset back-story

Inferior races???? Wtf you talking about Biserthebomb? How are they inferior... dwarves (despite the irony) stand taller than humans or those wussy elves! This is the only thing I'm pissed about. I'm a fan of dwarves so obviously I'm upset about not being able to play one. And the whole Origins/Backstory was one of the very few things that made DA:O unique and really stand out. BUT I understand why their going with Hawke... it makes sense considering the switch to ME style dialog. So I'll get over this as long as I get a few cool dwarf companions.

-Choice will carry over

We we're never promised the warden would carry over. In-fact, quite the opposite, they said he/she prob wouldn't. So I'm happy having anything transfer!

-10 year times span

Cool concept, it will really add to the epic feel and will certainly allow for some cool story elements.

-Returning characters

Give me Oghren or give me death... lol no... Oghren stared in awakening so I'm content. Looking forward to seeing Morrigan again more then anyone... she's also the safest bet in terms of returning characters.

Despite my calling them inferior races I too played as a Dwarf mostly... but this way we will have more customization because most of the armor we find will be for the PC, and I am curious as to how this will work for our companions. They may go the ME route and only have preset armor options for our companions :o

I'm one of the few who was a fan of the preset armor. I think it was a great way to visually add to their character and make them stand out. Like how Indiana Jones isn't Indiana Jones w/o his hat!

I wonder how many hats we can expect to see in DA 2?

So did I bro. Just because all the preset armor looked better. I hope in DA2 they keep different armor and have a preset unique armor. And then they do something like they did with Morrigans robes in DAO. Later on in the game you get an upgraded version of it.

Great point... they really did nail it with Morrigan didn't they? Her outfit looked great and really fit her character. It was her own.

But people do like customization, so they had the freedom to give her new clothes if they wanted to.

Here is what we know so far

- Revamped graphics

Not very important when I have to decide whether I like an RPG or not.

- New Visual Style

While some of the new concept art looks good, it is still not what makes or breaks an RPG. I still play BG, with it's 12 years old graphics and all.

- Mass Effect style dialogue choices, instead of branching dialogue trees

I didn't like this very much. Often the character would say something entirely different than what you wanted, and the wheel meant you didn't even had to give much thought to your replies, just choose paragon or renegade or neutral. Very poor choice.

- New combat system for consoles, featuring the "control pad'

I am not worried about the controls, one way or another.

- Play as Hawke, a human that comes with his/her own pre-set backstory

That is the worst and most disastrous news, IMO. The Origins was the main thing that gave DA replay-value. It still doesn't stand the time as well as BG, and ESPECIALLY not now, when it looks as if we will never have the chance to put proper closure to our characters.

-Choices from Dragon Age: Origins will carry over

As they damned well should.

-The game takes place over the course of 10 years

This can be good or bad, but again, with DA1 (DA:O + DA:A) unfinished, I don't really care about the story in DA2

-There will be returning characters

If Alistair or Morrigan returns, without the one warden married to Alistair, or the other warden chasing Morrigan, I swear I will have lost everything whatsoever for the storywriters.

- Determine who Hawke is through your decisions, while simultaneously rising to power and gaining allies

Again, with the first story unfinished, I could care less about the second story.

Finally, the VA is a limiting, resourcecosting descision, and I am quite certain it is the main reason why our characters are discontinued.
