HI lady_lunatic,

Is it the one from the NWN2 vault by slowdive_fan? Very good mod, if a bit hard! Tried playing it with the recommended 4 party members and kept getting wiped out by the bloody goblins in the prologue in Easthaven. Added a 5th member and got my arse handed to me on a plate by the Orcs in the cave next door! So I am playing with a party of 6. I have tried to keep it fairly true to the original, so have the following standard party:
Human Cleric
Dwarven Fighter
Elf Mage
Halfling Thief
Then added - slightly controversially - a Half Orc Barbarian (needed the muscle so bent the rules from the original a bit!)
Lastly added a Half Elf Ranger
Just in the second level of Dragonmount at the moment

I have not logged into my account for years, so long ago that I had forgotten I had one (didn't remember until it told me my email was already in use! - quick password change as that was well forgotten!), but I had to when I stumbled across this awesome thread.
A few months ago I decided I wanted to relive the good old days of RPGing on my 'puter. Two reasons, one: New Games just don't seem to have that 'Old School' playability, and are too flashy/fancy, Two: I wanted to see what the old games were like with all the graphics options to the max (better computer so can handle it!).
So, I dug out NWN2, blew the dust off, bought MotB and SoZ, installed and updated. I then started the OC. After downloading the Keadrin pack I had heard about I then saw mention of this project.
"Could it really be true!?!!" I wondered, and to my delight it is!

So the point - you guys are amazing for doing this! I once (way back when), created a house using the toolset (two floors and everything!) and thought 'sod that - too much work!". I am very excited to see this game finished, in a way few games have excited me (probably not since the original BG came out - yes, I AM that old!). I salute you!! I even went out and bought a hat, just so I could take it off to you!!
BG on NWN2 - Brilliant!! Only wish I could help in some way, rather than sitting here tapping my fingers like so many of us mumbling "come on, finish it!!" lol :D

When this materpiece is finished, how can we all benefit for it? Where will we be able to download it?

Sorry for the long post everyone, but after 2 years of a dormant account I got carried away!

Welcome back and thanks for the kind words! :) Once the mod is released (which I'm hoping to get it out before the end of September), it will be uploaded on the Vault (
http://nwvault.ign.com/ ).

Also, if you're wanting to help out in some way, the thing I think that would help the most is to spread the word about this mod once we release; I'd love to get as many people as possible to play and enjoy it!

Drechner - Not sure what part of the world you are in, but you can consider the word being spread in by me in England!

I know you get personal satisfaction from making this module, but little else besides peoples gratitude, and that is very commendable in today's "dog eat dog" world. One bit of help I can provide is that of an independent player. If I come across any mistakes (though probably not!) whilst playing I will be sure to pass them on to you so you can polish them out.
My Birthday is September 29th, so if it is done by then I will download it for my birthday prezzie for myself!
Cheers!

I'm just curious: have you been able to get Khalid to shout his famous battle cry, "Better part of valor!", while fleeing the battlefield?

Drechner, if you want to include my trees textures overhaul, you're more than welcome! It makes all the trees much more natural and colorful. That is, closer to the original BG trees. It's only 20Mb
Comparison: before after

I'd love to see my old work enhance the BG Remake's visuals for everyone. :P (for everyone who likes it anyway)

And kudos for leading your project to the end for so long, it's an incredible achievement!
I was the one who offered help in making a BG-like UI long ago. My commitment didn't last for long, hehe.

Good luck with the last push!

It might be easier to see the improvements if you have the before and after versions in the same image. It's hard to see by jumping back and forth. Also, perhaps a closeup would help.

I actually prefer the 'before' picture. The 'after' picture looks unnaturally green. Maybe that's because I'm used to Australian vegetation though.

I managed to improve the resolution of tree trunk textures simply by copying them from another game I had that used the same SpeedTree tree types, but with higher-resolution TGAs. Some of the existing bark textures don't look too good when you scale the trees up to several times their default size.

Drew had a big problem in his home when nobody was inside, so BGR won't be out in september. We are still targetting this year for a release.

Several hard lesson learned have made us a little paranoid, the project is stocked into more than 5 places, so don't worry we lost nothing :bandit:.

What's your take on the new stuff thats gonna be included in Baldurs Gate Enhanced Edition? They have released info on new characters and new places to visit and stuff.

http://www.baldursgate.com/

Are you gonna include anything of that in your mod later on?

how can someone include stuff which isn't even released? even after release i highly doubt that the "enhanced" stuff is worth to be integrated. it looks and sounds too cheesy - like the road bioware took after bg2 tob.

The only thing planed that wasn't in BG and will be in release if it's in, is crafting.

For now we are focussing into finishing/polishing the default game + TOSC.

Also rather than new NPC the existing one have been a little adapted, in order to have the most possible class availlable from henchmen and so giving freedom in the class availlable in your roster.

Very few possible party member share the same class. And most of them can pick a prestige class, you need to speak to an NPC to alter the way it 's lvling.

I live in temperate europe and green is what I see when I look outside the window. :)  For my overhaul I've used photo reference for every tree, so desert trees are kept dry, temperate trees are verdant.
In BG1 the trees are very colorful anyway, this is what counts!Image IPB

i love the trees (I'm not a tree huger), they do look like the BG ones.
Though I guess that you can only apply so much polish that you end up re-polishing the polish.
I hope Drew's situation has improved.
I'm thinking of playing a longsword wielding mage elf/half elf with blue hair, roll on memory lane! U?

Hi laxmanstretch, I will probably be a fighter orientated character as that is what vintage BG seemed to push you towards. Having said that, always fancied playing a War Priest

Or maybe an Eldritch Knight in the making?

Yes, it would probably be more intriguing to play it with a character class that wasn't available back in 2nd edition AD&D. Warlock does sound like something that would be the career of an ill-begotten spawn of Bhaal. It's too bad the Tiefling has that Cha penalty....

If you're going for this degree of visual authenticity, I can see why this has taken so long. Looks great though!

there is the temptation to go for something new..something nwn2. perhaps an assasin. But i think that my build wil be significatly different to the one i would go for in a nwn pvp roleplaying multiplayer. Afterall the backstory of baldur's gate is that of a child in candlekeep. Realy like the way that your dreams slowly torment you with a bit more story. And the good or evil ability.

nop we are on hold beceause we are at a bottleneck where Drew need to finish, and he had to move to a new home. The incident at his home delayed the project.

For your information, there is less than 2 weeks of work for the scripting to be fully finished. Only Gullykin and it's surrounding are not scripted, all the rest is fully operational.

Drew was supposed to gave those area to me in July but a huge problem happened in his home. Not a single data was lost for BGR. But his home was "alsmost" gone. Perhaps he'll put a photo, It's really impressive what happened to his home sweet home....

Well I hope all is well for him now and he's ok. All said and done even though you've both poured your hearts and spare time into its still just data so that's of no real concern.

I just got my NWN-2 again. And while looking around for UI mods, I found a cool BG UI mod (in the plugin section mind you haha). It was pretty nostalgic. So I went on to search if there are Baldur's Gate remake modules, since there's already an IWD. To my surprise, I found this...wow and wow!! Please keep this up. Although part of me is wishing that this should go on to BG-2, but that would be very unlikely I guess as that would mean so much more work, more than ever. Thanks for this! The screenshots taken look great.

I like the trees overhaul also. They're beautiful. Though, the other screenshot not shown here...well to be honest, they look oversaturated. Not the ones you posted here. I remember you saying you'll take a look at that, and may fix that.
