I only spend hours each day there ... see what getting old does to your memory. :D

Wow...I can't believe it's finally happening! You might be feeling panic but I am just feeling sheer excitement!

I have a couple of questions and please forgive me for not going through 45 pages of comments to see if they've already been answered. If there's an FAQ somewhere, please let me know. Anyway...

1) I noticed that on the video you have on youtube, the original soundtrack from BG isn't there. Will the original soundtrack be part of your mod?

2) The folks over at Baldur's Gate Redux, (who are remaking Shadows of Amn in the Dragon Age engine) require that you have the original Baldur's Gate 2 installed. Will you guys be requiring an original install of BG1 for your mod?

Thanks!!!!!

Heh, I need to panic too. If I don't release before this one I might as well give up on having any players till the new year.Image IPB

Good luck with the final push.

@HelmSeesAll: I'm not part of the development team, but:

1) Yes. A few NWN2 tracks are used too, but most music is from the original BG.

2) No, just NWN2, as with any other module.

I've uploaded a new video of a cutscene I've been working on:

The lack of VO is kind of a bummer, though we will be adding Lip Flappers, if there's time, which should help out a bit.

Pretty cool! I remember that scene :-)

Question: What are you using to make the videos?

Thanks! :)

I'm using FRAPS to capture the video, then editing it with Movie Maker. It's not the best video editing software out there, but it's really easy to use.

Looks good. Pretty dark though, so kind of hard to see. Thanks.

Here's a video of some experimentation with Golin Vend when the player enters Beregost for the first time (and you can get a small peek at Beregost in action!):

I did that exact same thing with my town introduction a couple weeks ago.

It's a good way to do it, IMO :)

Amazing job guys. Keep it up :) And by all means, don't panic. Only every single Baldur's Gate fan ever is going to give this mod a try. 2.5 mil or so? No pressure! :P

Seriously, don't sweat it :) You're doing a great job and so long as you offer a bit of support when finished, for the few experiencing problems, everyone will be happy.

I think I'm the only one in this thread who hasn't played any BG game and is waiting for this to get into the series lol. I managed to play planescape torment with no problem but bg.... couldn't get into it for the life of me... People started dying lol

Atrumitos... No you're not I've never played it either but I am looking forward to this too and want to see what all the fuss was about and why people keep raving on about it as a game..

One question though are the original makers ok with this as they have gone into full money grabbing mode lately ?

I sincerely hope they are okay with this considering I've devoted 6.5 years of my spare time to this project! :P

Very seriously though, I want to be an advocate for Bioware, their amazing past, the NWN2 community, and modding communities in general. Hopefully they see some value in that. Furthermore, there's some precedent for older D&D RPGs being remade in both NWN1 and NWN2.

That being said, you should totally buy the original Baldur's Gate (and definitely BGII as well!) from one of the various digital sites. It's a great game and great piece of gaming history. Even if you don't play the original (which you should) but play our mod, you should still buy it just to support the original dev team and great, party-based RPGs.

As an aside, I don't think Bioware has ever been in "full money grabbing mode". Yes, some of their games (DAO) have featured some "new" monetization strategies that I didn't particularly find tasteful, but it's a changing game market and they're trying to adapt (or, publishers are pressuring them to adapt?) and they are bound to make mistakes. The key is that they learn from their mistakes and I think they've shown every indication that they have :)

I don't think you need to worry - you're not making any money on it, after all. But be sure to credit them profusely and include all the original copyright info.

I admire what you are doing and your motives for doing so and I think it will indeed be something that shines a light in the direction of both the Neverwinter Nights and past Bioware games as you intend it to. It's just that this game is still for sale and your version doesn't require a Bioware game to play it so I wondered that's all. I don't know if you can still buy the Pen and Paper modules that have been copied but I don't think they're being made unlike Baldurs Gate which you can get on amazon.

I'm just wary of Bioware that's all ( no pun intended ) and with all the expensive addons ( that once upon a time would be patches or at least proper expansions ) to complete games and a reminder to purchase them at the end of Mass Effect 3 ( luckily I never bought it ) you start to wonder. I admire your optimism and hope you're right re Bioware learning from their mistakes but to me I think they're getting worst and for that reason will never see another penny from me. I like their forum here though !

Good luck with the release.

Link to the main game too won't hurt, then it's just a big advert for them :)

Indeed. This will be an ad for them and obsidian. Everyone's happy, I'm sure. Plus, we're talking about it on their forums aren't we? I'm sure they would have sent a request to stop by now.

I'll make sure to download the module fast anyway. Once it's out there... everything else is history after all ;P

I'd be very surprised to find out any Bio employee reads the nwn forums.

Most definitely! I plan to provide links to sites where players can purchase both BG and NWN2 (and probably mention BG:EE too). Furthermore, I'll be adding a note that if anyone feels a need to make a contribution to the BGR team for our work, buying the original game and supporting Bioware is more than enough to show their gratitude :)

For sure :)

I was kind of tickled when I saw you use the static cameras to point out the places being talked about.

I might have to throw a video up soon.

Here's a new video that shows off the inside of a Bandit Camp hut as well as Ender Sai being bound and rescued:
