I am looking forward to Dragon Age 2 and am sure it will be great. A lot of people are already panning the game. Indeed, they are changing some things. But all these seem to be unimportant aspects. For example: being able to set your characters name and how the combat system works. The important things, which are story, character choices, and immersion, are almost always great in bioware games.
The totally superficial, surface aspects of the game might have changed. We have a dialogue wheel, a set character name, and a different combat system. I see no reason to suspect at this point that the things that make Bioware games great won't be present in Dragon Age 2. So I am optimistic about the game.
Who else is actually happy about the announcement and looking forward to the game? What possibilities/aspects are you looking forward to? Any speculation as to what cool features or locations will be in?
I am optimistic!

I'm excited to see a new part of Thedas, and I'm really happy that the same combat style will be there in the PC version. I loved the style and aesthetic of the game, and it reminded me why I liked RPGs, and so far, DA2 looks to be a similar game, with some incidents of presentation changed. I am pretty excited.

but to be far Dragon Age: Origins was NAMED after a favored feature their totally removing. So it really isn't just unimportant aspects.

I am looking forward to this game as well. Hope it can be as good as mass effect 2.

I'm optimistic too! I can't wait to see more of the world Bioware has created and though I'm a little wary of the changes they will make to the console battle system, I can't wait to see how it plays.

Dragon Age was already better than Mass Effect 2 when it comes to "role playing".

Fair enough, but the Origins thing always struck me as something particular to that game - so not having it isn't a big deal to me, since I never thought it would be in every successive game.

with the predefined charictor i cant imagine the origins remaining the same id imagine there would be origins lite ya know the same predefined charictor but with slightly different starting storys like ME's spacer earthborn and colonial backstorys only with about 20 mins of gameplay ...
now whilst i am incredibly optimistic about this game there is only 2 things im really concerned with
1. the art style what i have seen of those pre alpha looking screenshots has been promising this was a concern based on the lack ok in game photos. (this is a concern to me because cell shaded graphics have a tendancy to give me headaches it is in no way a dig at the art style)
2. the lenght dragon age origins took me 40 hours to complete on a bare bones run i waould certaintly hope that dragon age 2 will live up to that.
i have at this point already resinged myself to the purchase of this game (assuming no disasters / undesireable information) and am very optimistic for this title due to bioware track record although mass effect 2 whilst an incredible game was in my opinion a step in the wrong diarection

Well the Mass Effect series comes with a lot of your character being predefined. So yes, you are correct, but it was "better" than Mass Effect 1 too. I don't think ME2 took out any role playing elements, it just changed some of the combat mechanics and changed the tone of the game.

I'm atleast interested in seeing the structure of the game. I'm rather hopeful that they're FINALLY breaking away from the Bioware Cliche and the standard "5 main story areas 9 Companions" structure.
Of course, they could very well not be doing that. That would make me sad.

Mass Effect 2 was a huge leap from Mass Effect 1 in every single department, so I am so hyped for Dragon Age 2.
