Ok now the bugs start spreading in my game. I was killed instantly after speaking to Elhan. I said what i always say with my good chars. The truth and that i'll destroy Bodhi. He gave me his stuff said good luck and teleported away. Directly after this  insta-kill of my PC. WTH? Can someone explain this?


Did Elhan or anyone else  go hostile before teleporting away?

Immediately after the cut to Elhan's tent it's Elhan himself who gets hostile. Then he speaks with us normally. After that death. <_< 

I played it again and same happens. Here a screenshot: Posted Image

He then says i was warned that i should not attack my friends. Thats ridiculous i wasn't warned and i attacked nobody except drows.

It's him going hostile that causes the instant death. You'll need to do a little debugging. Check this link (it all sounds a lot more complicated than it really is): www.shsforums.net/topic/42002-stucked-at-the-exit-of-the-underdark/.

Edit: he refers to the warning you get when exiting from the Underdark, when an elf tells you that attacking someone here will result in death because: 'rest assured, we are legion" or words to that effect.

Except the autosave the next save was in Ust Natha. I reloaded that save fought Deirex again etc., went out and everything was a-ok. 

I'll give a longer recap in a while. But i'll consider this whole issue a bug an play forth. I didn't hurt or attacked any of the elves. They had all their normal dialogues and the only one hostile was Elhan.

I had an instant death on my last partial play through as well, but in Naila's Keep at the yuanti mage....Wish the game would allow you to actually see what caused it.



Anyway, I have never completed a no reload game, so Im gonna try again with a sorc.

She is gonna run with Aerie and Edwin for an all caster team.

SCSII without enemy prebuffing and full Ascension on Insane,

Tactics Lich at Docks, and Fighter/Illusionist at Docks.

Toughest Random Spawns both in town and wilderness.

Plan to fight the coweled wizards instead of paying their fee.

I figure 3x sunfires repeated should take care of em at a fairly early level.

same with the random night spawns in the city.



Btw, welcome back Alesia_BH, good to see ya again. Looking forward to your transmuting sorceress adventures. Gonna try a no-reload with her?

It's because  of the game THINKING you killed one of the elves. That probably set a global that turned Elhan hostile. God knows what caused the game to think that in the first place. Computers are really, really dumb. But then, the human brain sometimes does strange things too:P  But glad it's solved now:)

I'm still playing Alastria (v2) and I do hope to No Reload her. That said, like you, I'm running SCS+Ascension and that may prove to be a bit much for her- especially since I am so rusty ( Ex- I couldnt find Rielev...:unsure:).

My guess is that Alastria is going to take a savage beating before I even get a chance to take her run seriously. If that happens, Ao the Cleric/Illusionist is going to step in. You're more likely to see Ao in this thread than Alastria.

I'm ok with that. I'm more comfortable with Ao's abilities and I'm starting to get a feel for her personality. Plus, I have a fun personal item dreamed up for her (It's called Ao's Trippy Color Wheel). I think she'll end up being interesting.

Cleric/Illusionist should be a fun...and you get the small race save bonuses.

O yea, your personal item thingy, I will be interested to see what you come up with this time.

Amala didnt last  long. I tried the "slightly improved" SCSII  Irenicus dungeon and quickly found  that you cant rest anywhere except out on the mephit dock without four duregars spawning on top of you everytime. Needless to say thats not healthy for a caster with terrible thaco on Insane. I sent Jaheria and Minsc packing and was trying to solo.  She bit the dust once she ran out of offensive spells. Nothing noteworthy--an ignoble death. So I am uninstalling that component of SCSII and going to try again with her original autosave at the time of creation.

I'm sorry for your loss Angiras. :(

Alastria soloed the SCS Dungeon. It's pretty easy if you have Polymorph Self. Just use hit and run tactics in Spider Form. The Poison kills the Duergars quick. One hit is often all it takes. 2 is a definte kill.

Of course, you may not want to have Polymporph Self stuck in your book for the whole adventure just so you can solo the dungeon...

Did you try sleeping over by the Dryads. That worked for Alastria.

I soloed it with a wizard by making good use of the scrolls and potions you find.



The power cell is for activating the tanks. You can speak with some of the creatures in there.

I've never experienced Elhan going hostile on me, but I do know that if you stray too long in the area where the drow fight the elves, the elves themselves go hostile. I would not touch anything in that area and make a complete dash out of there. Sometimes blue circles go hostile when you make a missile attack on an enemy, it's quite irritating and has happened to me.

Another player reported this with v14 of SCSII, which unfortunately had a few bugs. Thread here.

My strategy for the improved dungeon was to import a pre generated character with spells memorized.

Not a cheat IMO, you could have memorized spells while in the cage.

I'm still in this challenge, I just haven't had the time to play lately, good luck to all.

Well, here goes nothing...

Some of you may remember Alastria: my giddy Transmuter from the old Campfire Thread. Well, I've decided to give her a second life as a sorceress and let her try a Solo No Reload.

I don't expect this to be a successful campaign. Alastria's spell book will be loaded with Alteration school spells and she'll be spending most of her time shapeshifted. This is a workable -if restricting- approach to playing a caster. But since I'm terribly rusty, and will be facing content that I haven't tried before, Alastria is likely to fall- sooner rather than later.

Nonetheless, I'd like to give her a chance. I'm intrigued by the character build and am eager to get back into No Reload play. So here it goes. Wish her luck: she'll need it.

Btw. I was initially planning on posting RPed journal entires for Alastria but I'm having second thoughts. People seemed to have fun with Alastria last time. However, the early journals would likely be repetitive and there were times when I found writing her embarrasing. I'll probably finish her earlier story for my personal records, but I'm not sure I'll post. If there is interest, let me know.

No I didnt, but will try again with that in mind. Getting to the Dryads should be doable, and with some place to rest she should be fine. Thanks for the tip.

I decided to run solo. Aerie and Edwin might assure a successful no reload due to the overwhelming fire power of 3 mages, but I suspect it would be a hollow victory and a bit boring. In light of this change I have toned the gameplay down from Insane to Hard.



SCSII, Fixpack, Ascension, Selected Tactics components,convenience tweaks, such as unlimited bag of holding, ammo stacks, etc.



About to retry the starting dungeon equipped with new knowledge about safe havens.

v15. But i think it's a vanilla/Fixpack bug, since it happened to people without SCSII.

Amala successfully soloed the SCS dungeon, thanks to tips about where to rest.

She had a close call in the mephit portal room where she was put to sleep. (So much for elven sleep resistance.) But fortunately, her mirror images, blur, and stoneskin saved her.



The circus tent was uneventful, a couple of flaming arrows did the trick, while the conjured beasts were working on her mirror images.



Amala is a little naieve, and sometimes overbold. However, she has heard that it is dangerous to travel at night, due to bandit gangs that attack unwary travelers, and she has decided to travel only during the day until she gets stronger. (The SCS random city encounters are set to toughest spawns, and without a Coweled Wizard license, traveling at night at low levels is very dangerous. If the bandits spawn and Amala fights with spells, the Coweled Wizards will also spawn = double enemy groups. She will be happy to take them both on later, once she gets a bit more powerful.)



Her primary tactics as a soloer will be area of effect spells to deal with all the assassin bandits and invisible mages. More specifically, her offensive spells of choice will be sunfire (no magic resistance) and skull trap (lots of damage at high levels)--and she will build her book accordingly. Among other things this means, Minor Globe of Invulnerability, so that skull trap can be used as a point blank area of effect spell, while also providing her with protection from low level disabling spells. She will not use summons other than Mordekanen Sword and Planetar later on, mainly for dragon fights.



Next up: Copper Coronet and Maevar quests for the cash requested by Galan Boyle.

Teehee! It works.

A big thanks to Amanasleep for his comments over in the Sorcerer Spell Thread: they helped me discover the coolest way for a Transmuter to kill low level mages: Polymorph Self: Mustard Jelly-> Minor Sequencer: Chill Touch, Strength. The Jelly is 100% Magic Resistant and the Chill Touch weapon goes right through Stoneskins. It's lovely.

I just love getting mileage out of junk spells...

Anyways, Alastria is making good progress. I'll post some reports soon.

Alastria’s Journal: Entry 1

Weeee! Weeee! I’m free! Free, free, free. Free! I got out of that dungeon. And it’s about time! That place was such a drag. Nothing to do. And I don’t think that Irenicus guy liked having me around either. I'd keep changing into a Mustard Jelly and trying to ooze out of my cell. He’d yell: “Hey! Stop that!” And I’d yell: “Hey! But I want to get out!” Stuff like that: total drag.

So yeah. I’m free and on my own- just me and the Tweedles. I guess I’m a little nervous though... I mean, Gorion, Tethtoril and everybody else kept telling me that I’d need to learn Abjuration spells to make it on my own. But you know, whatever: they’re boring. Just listen to the word ABJURATION. It sounds like something an old man would say. Who needs ‘em. Gorion kept saying that a mage would kill me someday if I didn’t study’em. Meh. If a mage attacks me, I’ll just turn into an Ogre and smack ‘em. Yeah! I’ll smack ‘em! That’ll be fun.

Anyhoo. It's not like I totally ignore Abjuration spells- I have learned a few recently and I use them all the time. It's just...Well, I like changing into stuff. It's cool. That's all there is too it. And if that means I have to skip a bunch of “remove this” and “stop that” spells then, so be it. The Tweeds and I can handle ourselves. At least I think so...

Well we handled Irenicus's Dungeon at least. And I mean handled it. We cleaned out the place: killed a Demon, freed a Djinni, found some acorns. Totally heroic stuff right? Not bad for a little princess.

I'm getting ahead of myself I guess. I haven't even explained how I ended up in that pit in the first place. But you know, to be completely honest, I'm not really sure how I did get there. All I know is that there was this guy. And he was ugly. And he put me and Immy in a cell. That's basically it. But, I mean, what else do I really need to know? If an ugly guy puts you in a cell, you get out: it's that simple. And so I did.

Imoen helped me out at first- opened the lock on my cell and found me a skifty dagger. But since she gets a little nervous when I'm flinging spells around -and was itchin' to get out of there- she just hit the Shadows and snuck out. I figured that made sense. Because, worst case -if I couldn't get out on my own- she could find some buds and mount a rescue or something. That's what I told myself at least. It would have been nice to have a friend in there though: that place did seem a bit sketch at first. But it turned out ok in the end.

There were Dwarves: Duergars I think. And they were mean. They kept trying to kill the Tweeds and me. But you know what? We killed them right back.

I killed most of them in my Spidy form: Duergars really hate poison. And they're not supper-good at hitting eight-legged freaks either. All I had to do was buff up with Polymorph Self, Protection from Normal Missiles, Shield, Blur, and Mirror Image. Then I'd shift into Spidy form, Cast Draw on Holy Might, and load'em full of poison. That was that: easy-sleezy, just like Viconia.

The first ones were near this Golem guy who liked opening doors. He needed a stone to do it though, so I went and got the stone. Surprise, surprise there were more Duergars over there. But my buffs were still running, so I just poisoned them, got the stone, and moved on.

Things got a little tricky after that. Once the Golem guy did his door thing, there was this pit with an Otuygh in it. And since he looked ornery -and I was low on spells- I had to sneak past.

The sneaky part wasn't too tough really. But when I got to the other side, there were more Duergars. More.

Where do all these stumpies come from? You'd think they'd have better things to do than hang out in dungeons and get pumped full of poison. But no. They don't. That's just their thing I guess...

Anyhoo. Protection from Normal Missiles was still running and I had just enough spells to buff up my Spider again. I did have to do it supper-quick since they were running at me and all. But once I did, they dropped just like the others. Poison and run: simple-dimple

Right. Well, after the Duergars there was this bedroom. I got a feeling there might be traps there, so I cast Mirror Image and switched into my Mustard Jelly form. My Jelly is pretty good for setting off traps: it's immune to magic and piercing damage which is what most traps do. True, it's hard to pick up stuff when you're a Mustard Jelly, but at
least you don't die. And that's good.

I found some super-cool goodies in the bedroom: a helmet, a necklace that I really like- other stuff too. But there wasn't an exit there or anything. So I had to keep moving. Wasn't really sure where to go though.

Ok. So that's when things got a little weird. There was this grove, with Dryads in it. I totally didn't expect that! Even weirder, I came oozing up to them in my Jelly form with Protection from Normal Missiles running. I looked like a big jar of goo! But you know what? The Dryads were all: “Protect me, Protect me!”

I mean, you've gotta be pretty desperate if you're asking Mustard Jellies to protect you, right? Maybe they thought I was a gigantic tub of Gurril Berry gel or something? I guess they could use that. Still, I think those girls are a bit off.

Whatever. They helped me. I had to help them first though. The Dryads wanted to skidaddle but they couldn't leave without their acorns. And their acorns were held by...You guessed it: Duergars. Enter Alastria: slayer of Duergars.

So yeah: I had to kill more Duergars and get the acorns. But these weren't just ho-hum crawling-out of-every-nook-and-cranny Duergars: the clan chief, Ilyich was with them.

I figured I should get some rest first, so I napped with the Dryads watching over me. Then I went on a rampage.

It started with that Otyugh I snuck by before: killed him in my Spidy form.

Then it was time to knock off Ilyich: head meanie.

I buffed up with my favs: Polymorph Self, Protection from Normal Missiles, Shield, Blur, and Mirror Image. I also conjured up some Minute Meteors for a little extra punch. Then, I just sauntered in and took a look.

Well, there was a mage. And mages are a little sketch for a girl like me. I figured I should kill him first. I popped him with my Meteors. He died super-quick. Then I smoked Ilyich with some more Meteors. Once those guys were toast, I did some Polymorphing. I Blinded the Duergars with Glitterdust, and then shifted- picking Spidy form once again.

It worked. Before long all the Duergars were either dead, wretching from poison, or running around scared. It was a hoot. Baddies run and die. I like that.

So...What was next? Oh Yeah: the Demon. I killed a Demon. I didn't have to really. But Demons are bad. And I thought it might get Jon's goats. So I did it. Nanny-nannies!

I had to get past a trap first: used my Jelly for that..

Then it was time for a show down: Cambion versus Flind. Guess who won? Flind! Hooray!

Yeah. I killed the Cambion super-fast all buffed up in my Flindy form. Growl!

Well, with that all squared, I went back to the Dryads and told them about the Acorns. They were all happy. It was great. Even better: they told me how to get the rock out of that place- Ellesime's key.

I used my Jelly to get the key of course. And once I got it, I was ready to scoot. Almost. I remembered that door over by the Demon with the funky lock. I figured I should check it out- might be another chance to get Jon's goats.

Now this was...stupid: I've gotta admit it. I had No idea what was behind that door: all I knew was that it was going to be weird. Well. I was right: totally weird.

It was a plane of air I guess? Whatever that is. Anyhoo. It was windy. And full of Mephits. Fortunately, I took another nap over by the Dryads before heading in there. So I was ready.

There was only one really tricky part. There was, like, this fire. Where I guess the Mephits were barbecuing or something? Anyways, there were a lot of them. But as always, I had a super-skifty plan.

I got myself all buffed and tossed a Web at them. Then, I switched in to my Jelly so I'd be immune to the Web, went in, and killed them while they were all held. Clever huh? I even got to use my little Bhaalspawn powers.Fun.

So that's what happened behind the door: felt the breeze and killed the Mephits. That was that. Oh! I almost forgot! I found the Djinni there too. Yeah. I freed him. He gave me a sword. We're like buds and all now.


Phew! Well I guess that's all there is to say about the Dungeon really. There were these Portals and Mephits that I had to kill in my Flindy form. And then there was this Super P-O'ed clone girl that I had to ice. But that was basically it- aside for more Duergars of course. Oh. And the Thieves that were all lost or something.

Hmm. I guess there really was a lot more stuff to talk about huh? But you know: I'm pretty beat. I really need to get some sleep. So that'll have to do. I'll just write about Imoen and the Wizards and all that other big picture stuff later. It's bedtime for me and the Tweeds.Nighty-night!

Btw. What I've decided to do is post journals using snippits from Alastria's old, unfinished Campfire story. Hopefully, she'll end up with a complete story in this thread. If she dies, I'll just move her over to the Minimal Reloads Thread. Either way, she'll end up with a complete story and will be ready for retirement.
