I am entering the challenge with my cleric Gyan. He is continuing from BG1 after defeating Sarevok. He is a minimalist character in terms of his ability scores, the back story being that he fell sick to a strange illness in childhood, and only through intense study did his capacities (mostly mental) grow to an acceptable level.

Here is the description I gave a month ago in the BG1 challenge:
------------------------------------------------------
Gyan was a vibrant youth, and Gorion had high hopes for him. However, he fell seriously ill in early adolescence, and was severely hindered in his physical and mental development. In fact, it was a small miracle that he survived the strange disease at all, as no one could figure out what was wrong. Eventually, he recovered on his own after much care. Afterwards, Gorion and Tethtoril we able -- with intense training -- to help him improve his powers of the mind as much as was possible considering the circumstances. Gyan dedicated himself to the pursuit of knowledge, and was hoping to continue his training with Gorion and other wise teachers after leaving Candlekeep. However, it seemed that Gyan was meant to gain practical wisdom on the run with his foster sister instead!
------------------------------------------------------
With a starting Wisdom of 13 plus the tomes in BG1, Gyan has a reasonable 16 Wisdom now, along with a lot of experience on the adventuring side of things. However, he relys quite a bit on his traveling companions. Before being taken to Amn, he had traveled mostly with his foster sister. Other companions included Ajantis, Khalid, Jaheira, Minsc, Dynaheir, and Quayle at various points along his journey. His wisdom almost failed him in a final confrontation with Sarevok due to overconfidence. However, Jaheira managed to save him, and the two found a way to defeat his brother on a battlefield of bodies.

Upon finding himself captured and then freed by his sister, Gyan and Imoen discovered two other friends in captivity with them: Jaheira and Minsc. Unfortunately, Khalid and Dynaheir were dead. Imoen had lost some experience since Gyan had last seen her, while Jaheira and Minsc had gained some.

In any case, their escape went normally. A couple of notes: The Ilyich battle went very well with a Web spell and Free Action on Jaheira. Also, Gyan, despite his weak condition, could occasionally do some nice damage!

After defeating the lesser clay golems, Gyan leveled up to cleric level 9. Soon after, Jaheira leveled up to F7D9. Also, Minsc landed the final blow to kill a the vampire Ulvaryl. I don't remember ever getting that kill before.

After escaping and losing Imoen in the process, Gyan and crew sold much of what they found in the dungeon for over 6,500 gold! (I will probably come back for the Balduran helm at some point.) Then they saved the circus and met Quayle's Aerie. Of note in the battle with Kalah: Gyan almost got strength-drain killed. He could not even carry his tiny amount of equipment (staff, sling, and magic bracers)!

From there, Gyan donned the ring they found on Kalah, and then donated a few thousand gold to increase his standing in Amn. He also gained local notoriety for saving the circus and reporting his success to the local guard. (Yoshimo leveled up to BH11)

With a higher Charisma (18) and Reputation (16), Gyan hoped to make fast gains in Athkatla. News of Gyan's arrival must have spread rapidly, as he was quickly met by a man named Gaelan Bayle who suggested that he could help find Imoen. The party then visited Gaelan's friend Arledrian to get inexpensive item identification (75 gold per instead of 100).

Next up is the Copper Coronet.

Nice going Gate and Corey!
As for Cernd, I remember the one time I saw him die to Faldorn, and I was shocked. He had like 6 terrible attack rolls in a row (and like 2 or 3 critical misses), yet he still had her near death before she transformed and then was completely healthy again. Cernd could not deal enough damage to kill her twice before dying himself. Even more shocking was that I just raised him, and he was allowed to fight her again. Too bad she did not get a second chance!
