Update for Lilo, kensai dualled to thief.

On her way to the De'Arnise Hold Lilo was ambushed by some slavers and orogs.  A nice deep firebreath killed the mage and running round took most of the fight out of the others as well.

At the Hold Lilo had to be particularly careful of the spirit trolls greater command.  That meant being improved invisible whenever one might be about.  Her high damage output meant it was easier for her than most of my characters to kill a troll, retreat and rest before starting again.  There was one glitch when I thought Lilo was II, but was in fact just standard invisible - I only noticed when she saved against a greater command, but otherwise the troll army was wiped out quite neatly.  The yuan-ti mage in the library was distracted by Kitthix, giving Lilo time to beat him down. Kitthix also contributed by webbing Glaicas.

The shield amulet found there provided Lilo with a significant AC boost.  She reached level 13 by placing the dog stew and decided to dual to thief.  She left the umber hulk and Torgal and his cronies for now as she doesn't have good enough spell defenses for them.  However, she did attack the golems one by one.  Killing them and assembling the flail of ages got Lilo to just short of level 8.

Back in Baldur's Gate she paid for a few thieving potions and then helped herself to more (along with quite a few other things).  She isn't stealing things for resale, but still has become considerably better equipped with potions + a few choice items such as Tymora's Gift belt (+3 to luck).  Also pickpocketed Ribald's ring, but failed to get Tolgerias' - should have talked to him first I suppose!  I don't think I've sent him hostile before, but guess that the planar sphere quest will not be available now.

During these journeys there was another ambush and Lilo had to use up a previous potion of magic shielding to ensure her safety.  At least that combat got her up to level 8.

When on her way to Mae'var's guild to start work there Lilo was stopped by Tanova and a couple of vampires.  They refused to believe that Lilo had no allegiance to the thieves guild and she had to use a potion of clarity for immediate protection before running away.  Practising her skills in the guild house and taking the necklace of Talos got Lilo to level 9.  Coming back to the guild invisible Lilo looked on as Arkanis Gath and companions showed how to deal with vampires.

Taking on Rayic Gethras Lilo discovered that steam mephits are not affected by fire, so had to use a potion of freedom to safely kill them.  In addition she treated herself to 100% fire protection after looking at the numbers she was facing.  The golems on the next floor got her to level 10 before Rayic unaccountably kept casting spells at his staircase and Lilo eventually made a crack in his stoneskins.  A couple of further tasks got Lilo to level 11, but she won't confront Mae'var until she gets her kensai abilities back.

Vayler, LG human male cavalier. Travelling with Viconia, Edwin, Korgan and Imoen.

Korgan is not pleased to hear his services are being called into question. He responds by changing his weapons, now being Stonefire and Frostreaver axes (** two weapon style then *** at the end of this update).

Ust Natha.
I pull rank on Korgan to defeat Lasaonar then kill Chalinthra.

Edwin defeats a drow mage by summoning a skeleton warrior and an efreeti. A second drow mage is cut down as he summons a second skeleton warrior. A third manages to get stoneskin and spell turning before the summons make Edwin the undisputed mage victor.

Korgan finally gets his chance, killing an umber hulk, a nabassu, a sahuagin prince and a beholder. He's a tough little critter.

I refuse to tell Solauefein my name, and don't know what an illithid is either. For my sins I am asked to help rescue the daughter of a matron mother. On the way I almost run into an ogre called Boz and step back to co-ordinate our defence against his party attack. Our plan works well, other than Viconia being briefly mazed.

Rescuing Phaere.
Involves killing more umber hulks and illithid. Three skeleton warriors, a Mordy and an arial servant help complete the task.

Aboleth and the brain of Qilue.
Our secret identities are at risk so we dispose of Qilue.

A smuggling beholder.
We're not scared. Well, Edwin is so I cast remove fear as we retreat from the beholder. Korgan enrages his way to victory.

Solaufein.
He must be dead, I have his cloak. Never to be seen or heard of again. Honest.

A drow ritual.
I need Kuo-Toa prince blood, elder brain blood or an elder orb eye stalk. I have all three, so will use the time for my own purposes.

Visaj and the magical rope.
I can sense deception so we prepare. Our weapons are Azuredge (then Carsomyr after 1 throw), Dragonsbane halberd (non proficient for Korgan), iMoD, a boneblade dagger and Daystar. Then we over-buff and meet Deirex the one hit wonder, leave him gurgling to visit Jaraxle and return back to what is left of Deirex.
Posted Image

Fake dragon eggs.
We have to deal with Ghaunadorians before Phaere hands me some marked eggs.

Fake fake dragon eggs.
Solaufein (for it is he) hands me another set of eggs. Imoen retrieves the real eggs and replaces them with the marked eggs supplied by Phaere. successful hides and pause key allows the door to be opened then the eggs stolen without Imoen being attacked despite the hostile defenders.

Double deception.
With the Mother Matron and Phaere both dead all that is left is for us to purchase some human slaves, get them equipped and tell them to find their way to the surface. My reputation is getting to be an issue for my companions.

Adalon.
With the eggs returned we are taken to an exit we have already found.

Return to the surface.
Elhan eventually believes our story, and we investigate three new areas he points out for us. Viconia has been forced to undergo a geas by the elves.

One location is marked as a wolfwere camp, and Coran turns up to ask for our help. Luckily we have left a group of skeleton warriors guarding the camp, and have buffed before returning. We cannot save Safana, but Coran survives.

We carry on, until Kruin attacks us for the silver sword. His henchmen prefer to chase Imoen and Edwin, forcing us into a running battle. After dealing with them we investigate a cave, a wyvern cult and the hut Coran lived in.

Back to Amn.
Drizzt wants to help, I decline his offer. Our storage unit near the Coppoer Coronet is the first to be emptied, then a handmaiden of Lolth and a Yochi gate in to take Viconia. We send them packing then head upstairs to return the heart of Yoshimo to Ilmater.

Then we empty our storage unit outside the Promenade. We have a pile of cash, but several expensive spells take most of it back again.

We chat with Aran Linvail, and are given no option but to accept his help against Bodhi oh, not spoken to him before and thought I would have an option not to have Arkanis help.

A stink in the temple district.
Time to investigate the sewers. Tarnor the Hatchetman and his gang run into buffs and spell sequencers, a painful but short experience for them. Then we investigate a hidden door, carrying the buffs into a room of thralls, an illithid and an umber hulk. Four hasted and blessed skeleton warriors take the next room with our support, and a host of summons deal with the final room. Korgan grabs the Hammer of Thunderbolts and suggests we deal with the planar sphere instead of continuing in the sewers.

Planar sphere.
Our doppelgangers fail to prevent us reaching Valygar in his hideaway cabin. He agrees to open the planar sphere for us, then returns to his cabin.

Inside we quickly kill anything hostile until we reach Tolgerias. He's not prepared for us to have 2.5m xp each.

We use Azuredge and the crimson dart to deal with golems then venture outside the sphere in search of power. Five haste bless defensive harmony skeletons retrieve three demon hearts in next to no time. I stuff one into the power core and our return to Amn is complete.

We step outside the sphere, allowing Lavok to die. No sooner is he dead than Viconia wants to end our romance. I'm a bit lost until Imoen nudges me and shows me which option to choose. With a bit of help I manage to convince Viconia to stay until our quest is done.

My first action as a single man is to forge Crom Faeyr. It would work well for Viconia, but she can buff while Korgan cannot raising his THACO to -10 with Stonefire and -9 offhand with Crom.

I commission the shortbow of Gesen and Silver Sword too, although we have no use for them.

Another 30 second special as Lilo snuffs it this morning. My first thought on restarting the game was to get a bit more XP by opening up a few containers left previously, now that she had 100% open locks (at least with divine might operating). She therefore headed to the Den of the Seven Vales where Brennan Riesling and the gang met their ends.

I didn't remember any of the chests being trapped and just opened them and that was that.
Posted Image
I don't know what killed her, but from the ending screen I would guess flesh to stone - certainly not charm or maze. That chest wasn't one that I had in my mind as a potentially fatal trap, so I'll have to watch out for it in future.

Edit: shame I have still never had a chance to play with kensai backstabs.  Not sure what my record backstab is, but probably something like 150 - Lilo should have been able to get up to over 300 even without any potential bonuses from items.

Good luck with the next attempt.

Vayler, LG human male cavalier. Travelling with Viconia, Edwin, Korgan and Imoen.

We have 13 rogue stones, so store 12 on the cobbles for safety.

Twisted Rune.
A gentle start to the day, with megabuffs.
Posted Image

Korgan steps forward and the battle starts. I am on Shangalar while the dwarf is dealing with Vaxall the elder orb and Viconia is with Shyressa the vampire. We are delayed by a timestop.

Korgan is first, and turns on Revanek. Viconia is next and moves towards Layene. Imoen spell sequences Revanek, allowing Korgan to move to a pit fiend. I finally kill Shangalar and move towards the pit fiend.
Posted Image

As I reach the pit fiend Korgan kills it so I move on to Layene and remove her fireshield with Carsomyr. Another hit drops her.
Posted Image

Elemental lich.
I retrieve the dozen rogue stones and we investigate another door.
Posted Image

A gated pit fiend is easy prey, then we return to the sewers and kill a sea troll. As we head to Roger the Fence a beholder and two gauth teleport in. We kill them, relying on our high levels to save against many of the effects they manage in their final moments.

Vayler, LG human male cavalier. Travelling with Viconia, Edwin, Korgan and Imoen.

Eyeless Cult.
Our experience is making this easy but I am careful to concentrate as one mistake could prove fatal. We warm up with ettercaps and shadows, then Korgan adds a shade lich to his tally and we round off with fiends and shadows again.

A series of huge steps descend, taking us to a spidery area. Korgan kills three beholders then we help with a pair of gauth and some shadows. With half a rod in our possession we descent into the cultist pit and dismantle a few undead culminating in Theshal.

A nearby lich casts timestop as we attack. Korgan has to retreat from the horde of undead, followed by Viconia. I hang on, eventually using lay on hands. Meanwhile Korgan has returned to add a Daystar sunray, and the battle is ours tough one that. Korgan grabs the gauntlets of dexterity and tells us to wait until he has dealt with the beholders ahead of us.

Korgan thinks he has used the rod against the Unseeing Eye so attacks. We realise he hasn't so rush to his help. As he finally uses it Viconia adds a killing blow. The rod is retuned to the avatar of Amaunator. The Helmites are pleased with our progress Vayler hits HLA territory and selects summon deva.

Unlicenced magic.
We get one warning, when we turn up again we are attacked. Korgan is stunned but the rest of us kill the Cowled Wizards. A second wave get the same treatment, as does a third and fourth. Their fifth group declare themselves as the elite group, so we do the same to them. We check, and no more wizards are forthcoming so we have saved 5000gp.

My reputation 18 is overwhelming the party so I decide to test the slayer change out briefly reputation drops by 2 to 16. "Right choice, always knew there was something odd about him" mutters Viconia, stepping backwards.

Guarded compound.
Sion and Ketta want to play. We quickly eliminate the welcoming party after I realise I'm using my fists slayer transition effect I expect. We add a few more buffs before venturing upstairs. As we buff an efreeti is revealed with true sight so we kill it too.

Two sets of chain lightning are cast then Imoen removes two traps. We have summoned a deva, skeleton warrior and unimproved Kitthix, and added greater malison, emotion, slow and another chain lightning. I kill Ketta after Korgan kills Koshi. Carsomyr de-buffs Sion and I move to Stalman while Korgan finishes him. He drops Olaf Rassmusen next then Maferan AND Stalman. Korgan asks why I killed Ketta, one more hit and he would have taken the entire party down. Smug dwarf.

Pitre, Falahar, Valeria and Dracandos are foolish enough to attack us on the way to the playhouse.

Trapped in Amn.
A mirror for Mekrath; resulting in Haer'Dalis being presented to us. He is sent on his way and we follow after retrieving a portal gem. Raelis Shai asks if we want to play protect the portal, and we oblige.

A bounty hunter turns up, Viconia and Korgan tell him to go away as we're expecting a ten headed taori next. The bounty hunter obliges but takes the acting troupe away too. The portal is still active so we buff and follow.

Planar Prison.
We work our way around, managing to enter each cell without resting. We re-buff for the final wolfwere cell, then attack the warden. Two buffs and no rest, quite happy with that.

Cromwell forges the Wave halberd for me, then we rest. I'm trying to think if there are any more loose ends before tracking Bodhi down.

Vayler, LG human male cavalier. Travelling with Viconia, Edwin, Korgan and Imoen.

Bodhi.
Viconia is kidnapped as we reach the graveyard district. We fight off a goup of vampires, pick up her possessions and set off seeking revenge. Korgan and I are merrily hacking away when we realise Imoen is in trouble behind us. We rescue her, but without Viconia we require a temple visit to restore her drained experience.

Vampire lair.
Edwin sets two skeleton warriors at our rear. Korgan and I buff, then attack. We pour holy water into a pool of blood, then continue towards the spike room after greeting Arkanis. I wade into more vampires while Korgan waits for fatigue to expire. He uses Daystar sunray to help then enrages again.

We make our way to Bodhi, and I badly wound her before Korgan closes in to Daystar sunray.
Posted Image

I knew we shouldn't have spoken to Aran Linvail, Arkanis is making his value known.
Posted Image

A few more hits and we are safe, but of Viconia there is no sign. Korgan mumbles something about Daystar.
Posted Image

Bodhi will pay for this.
Posted Image

I pick up Viconia as Imoen grabs a trio of books. We make our way to the docks and the temple of Oghma. Then to the temple of Amaunator where we raise Viconia. She is glad to be back, as are we all - her equipment weighs a ton.

Kangaxx.
I have Carsomyr, Korgan Crom Faeyr and offhand Daystar which is non-proficient while Viconia has iMoD and offhand FoA +3. Carsomyr de-buffs and our weapons bite, but Imoen has been reading up and spams Kangaxx with a Horrid Wilting.
Posted Image

We're not finished. A few more spells and hits are required.

I haven't got SCS in this install. It is my best SOA run so far, not sure I've made Spellhold before and wouldn't say I've got to grips with SOA on no-reload (this party is making my run look more impressive than it really is). The three frontliners and their weapons are a great combination and tend to cover any weaknesses the others have. Edwin and Imoen should perhaps be contributing more, I'm not a great caster but hopefully they are now approaching the point where their spells make a huge difference.

Really hoping I can get to the pocket plane and pick up Sarevok...

Vayler, LG human male cavalier. Travelling with Viconia, Edwin, Korgan and Imoen.

We dump a load of gear just inside the door of Watchers Keep.

Suldanessar.
We're doing well, then I realise Viconia is absent. She's scared and a long distance away. We try to catch up but she goes past an iron golem and into a group of Rashaka. Rajah kills her before we can reach her.

We're next to the temple, but have another battle inside. Elhan is not pleased when we leave, but after a brief temple visit we are back.

Korgan and I are using WW, Viconia raises her weapon but Edwin has used a spell contingency greater malison, pierce shield and Horrid Wilting = dead dragon. Wow.. Say cheese The dragon is smiling but I am almost cut out of the scene!
Posted Image

The avatar of Rillifane is called, and Korgan adds a third pip to his war hammer skills and we both learn a first GWW. Each of my companions is given the chance to leave but all choose glory, or infamy.

Tree of Life.
Viconia summons four skeleton warriors to guard Irenicus as we remove three huge parasites.

Irenicus has enough buffs to repel Viconia, Korgan and myself blue fire shield and we didn't buff against cold DOH while also shrugging off our magical attacks. The four skeleton warriors burn out so we retreat and send a stream of summons in. I'm not sure what to do so Edwin uses his staff to sneak in. Just as he starts to approach Irenicus a skeleton warrior does what we cannot.
Posted Image

As Irenicus dies the five of us are pulled into the hells. What next?

Horrid Wilting does very high damage (1d8/level, save for half) and ignores every protection except magic resistance (which is removable via Pierce Shield, Pierce Magic, Lower Resistance), so with a bit of softening up you can kill any enemy in the game with it quite easily.

@Gate70, I’m not harbouring any doubts about the dwarfs fighting ability but you have to admit his evilness makes Korgan a strange bed fellow for a Paladin of truth, justice and steadfast defender of cute little pink bunnies.

p.s. On my SCS install protection comes from putting up ‘Spell: Immunity Necromancy’... it’s a good spell but there is no magic “I Win” spell in this game (everything has at least two countermeasures).

I'm having another go to see if I can improve my poor track record of leaving Imoen to her fate.  This time I've got an easy character to handle - a dwarven berserker.  At least he should have a decent chance of saving if I inadvertently expose him to spell effects.

Wolfsbane has cleared Irenicus' dungeon.  With support from DUHM and rage he was confident to take on all comers.  The only enemy that he failed to kill was the vampire - the battle mage got there first.

Here are his stats on exit from the dungeon.  His HPs were exceptional in BG1 with all die rolls being 6 or higher.  He only rolled a 1 at level 9, but still has 10 more HPs than average for this level.

Vayler, LG human male cavalier. Travelling with Viconia, Edwin, Korgan and Imoen.

The Nine Hells.
The first set of stairs lead us to a wraith of Sarevok. I refuse to change into the slayer and our pre-buffs are enough to kill him.

The second set of stairs leads to an enslaved genie. I have a powerful sword, Blackrazor, but elect to hand it to the genie.

The third set of stairs is a conundrum. Imoen is held and my action will hurt either her or me. I open a door and rush to a second. Only then do I realise I am unhurt while Imoen is in agony. Korgan, Viconia and Edwin are cheering me on but I realise my mistake and sheepishly return to use the other three doors then hand Imoen the ring of Gaxx.
Lose 2hp, 1 point of dexterity and some xp.

The fourth set of stairs is more familiar to me. I decline the nymph cloak and cast protection from fear on the party. We take the scary path but Korgan enrages and kills three elder orbs on the way out.

The fifth and final set of stairs has some creature within. I decide to try and negotiate, and the dragon agrees.

We uber-buff and head to the large door. As I work from bottom left to top right I am granted several boons.
- Immune to +1 weapons and less.
- +10% magic resistance.
- +2 to all saving throws.
- +20% resistance to fire, cold & electricity.
- +1 to wisdom and charisma.

I kick the door open and we are blown around, finally facing Irenicus again. Our buffs are mostly intact, Korgan enrages while Imoen and Edwin step back to release their contingencies. We are cutting through the demons so I head to the Irenicus slayer to see if I can de-buff the fire protections. It works, and as the last demon falls I GWW. Korgan and Viconia join me as Edwin and Imoen select pierce shield and Khelbens Warding Whip.
Posted Image

As the last Balor falls Imoen joins Viconia in a level-up. Slayer Irenicus vanishes so we race to where he has teleported to. Korgan GWW's as Edwin casts Wail of the Banshee. A few more hits and the slayer is dispelled, leaving Irenicus battered and bruised.
Posted Image

Korgan hits him but a skeleton warrior gets a final cut and robs us of the glory. Pfffft.

Going.

Time for a party before continuing with my life. Errrm Imoen, can I have the Gaxx ring back please...

Vayler, LG human male cavalier. Travelling with Viconia, Edwin, Korgan and Imoen.

Tougher Illasera. From the read-me.

In David Gaider's words: "It is not very high difficulty...as a battle right at the beginning of the game shouldn't be...but it does make Illasera a credible opponent and member of the Five. She's a ranger/archer now, which was her original concept before we were forced to make the battle much, much easier (since people could potentially meet her with a single, newly-created sorcerer...and since the fight was unavoidable, those who couldn't get past it would be quite frustrated). This version makes it so that you always meet the tougher Illasera as well as all her companions, so those who go into ToB with a weak character might want to stick with the original version."

Weimer's comments: Despite what Gaider is saying, the Tougher Illasera battle is widely regarded as insanely difficult (although certain tactics, like the shield of reflection, physical mirror or a mordy jail can make it too simple). It's much harder than the Yaga-Shura or Gromnir fights.

NOTE: This Tougher Illasera *will* drop boots of speed, much like the original.

Illasera nearly kills me before I realise what is happening 12hp, I glug a healing potion and run. She hits me again back to 12hp so I keep running and cast sanctuary. We swarm her with summons as Viconia equips the shield of reflection. Korgan has moved in with GWW.
Posted Image

Illasera vanishes, meaning only the deva can attack her. We try remove magic, but Imoen moves away as her buffs have expired. Viconia decides the time is right to re-kindle our romance. What a drama queen.

Korgan takes two arrows so also retreats. Illasera re-appears out of frustration so Korgan and the summons attack again. A flesh golem finishes her before Korgan can close the gap.
Posted Image

I don't know how Vayler got away with that, suddenly realised he was in major trouble and only his hasted boots saved the day.

Vayler, LG human male cavalier. Travelling with Viconia, Edwin, Korgan and Imoen.

Korgan quickly gathers up the dropped loot, but he has lots of time and it is only when I switch weapons to drop sanctuary that we are teleported elsewhere. A solar tells me a few cryptic pieces of information then Sarevok appears.

I agree to restore him, and for him to travel with us of his own free choice and without a geas, oath or pledge. I hand him the bag of holding so he can equip himself as he sees fit.
Posted Image

I expected him to use the Warblade sword, but instead he restores what he can from the Sword of Chaos. Could be fun.
Posted Image

Gavid, pocket plane challenge 1.
We're buffed and summoned. Edwin and Imoen take some damage but the rest of us emerge unscathed.

Saradush.
The guards tear into Korgan but we're too tough. Viconia, Edwin and Imoen cast aura and fire shield as a precaution from the bombardment.

After another tussle at the inn we rest, then meet Viekang. He is scared of Imoen and myself but not Sarevok so I am confident the taint of Bhaal has been removed from him.

Volo tells me about my companions, earning respect from Korgan and gasping when hearing that Sarevok is with me.

We stop a few fights, find temporary accomodation for some elves and raise the dead father of a grieving child. Our reputation is soaring but don't believe anybody leaves in TOB.

Mateo asks if I am from the Order of the Radiant Heart. I spare the tale of not completing my duties, and offer to help him instead. Kiser soon confesses, allowing us to pretend to work with him. Once he is dead we are free to pay a courtesan, kill the vampires and break into the prison.

We've bought a second bag of holding so head into the sewers. There are pickings galore, until eventually we defeat shades and sappers. We kill some guards outside Gromnir's room, then rest in the pocket plane.

Improved Gromnir. From the Read-Me.

In David Gaider's words: "It's just a little spruce-up to a fight that I thought was a little boring...it makes Gromnir a bit more formidable and gives both him and the other Bhaalspawn with him some extra abilities and better scripting. I'm told it's of moderate difficulty but quite fun."

We're buffed and work our way though mages, a succubus and finally Gromnir. He's sliced Sarevok and myself up, but Korgan joins in and we drop him game freezes, have to reload from the buffed autosave. Observing the replay indicates it was the Sarevok dialogue that caused the crash.

I WW Karun the Black (again). Viconia predicts where Lashar'ra the succubus will arrive then decides to summon a skeleton warrior while Korgan attacks Berena Elkan. Edwin spell sequences Gromnir (malison, emotion, slow) and summons the flesh golem as Imoen sequences Eler Had (malison, emotion, Melf) and summons Kitthix.

Ramazith has arrived, disguised as a panther. Karun hides so I join Sarevok on Ramazith as Sarevok kills the battle mage. Gromnir is napping.

Karun returns as Sarevok kills Ramazith too. I de-buff him while Sarevok starts on the prone Gromnir. I've killed Karun so add to Gromnir's woes while Imoen and Edwin Melf him. Korgan applies GWW to Eler Had while Berena Elkan gets two Horrid Wiltings.

Gromnir is up so I GWW. Lashar'ra and Halbazzer Drin (minotaur) arrive. Korgan has killed Eler Had so finishes his GWW on Berena Elkan. Viconia has wasted a bolt of Glory on Eler Had so turns to melee Lashar'ra. Edwin has killed the lone soldier with his wilt.

Korgan has zapped Berena Elkan so turns to help Viconia with Lashar'ra.

I have Gromnir, meaning Sarevok and myself can charge Lashar'ra.

Instead Sarevok asks me about our destiny. I answer honestly and as we move both Korgan and Viconia hit Lashar'ra and kill her.

Halbazzer Drin is about to have four weapons on him, meaning we will never know if he would have survived a Wail of the Banshee and Finger of Death.

Melissan turns up to stop the fight. Oops, too late.

Vayler, LG human male cavalier. Travelling with Viconia, Edwin, Korgan and Imoen.

After selling magical junk at the inn we portal plane. Cespenar improves a cloak of protection +2, then upgrades the Quiver of Plenty for Imoen. Melissan has suggested we deal with Yaga Shura next.

First we have to deal with bandits, selling their equipment to a nearby trader and obtaining a third potion case in return. Two fire giants are nearby so Korgan grabs the helm of Roranach to add to his girdle of bluntness then casts hardiness 90% crushing resistance. Edwin casts protection from fire on him and Imoen casts haste. He enrages and we attack, but a group of guards are in the way.

I notice something unusual 2nd time and looks to see what has happened. You don't want to mess with this guy.

I de-buff a mage while my companions deal with the fire giants. Seriously, DON'T MESS WITH SAREVOK.

Another Yaga Shura soldier gets another deathblow. Korgan GWW's a third fire giant then we melee the remaining soldiers and return to sell their gear too.

Wraith swamp Temple.
Viconia and I realise we have no NPP's memorised, leaving Sarevok vulnerable. Sure enough, he gets somewhat drained so hits back.

He kills the master wraith, then we fight a group of specialist skeletons. A skeletal assassin manages to poison both Viconia and Sarevok so I play target while they glug potions.

Marching Mountains.
Four skeleton warriors, a diva and high level spells see off Chinchilla and Bhaalspawn allies. Several fire giants fall to melee then Korgan re-arranges our equipment for what lies ahead.

Temple exterior.
Elite Fire Giants fall to our melee and spells. Korgan is fine but the rest of us have to step back if targeted. We clear the entrance in one visit a rarity for me.

More fire giants are encountered on the right flank, we clear them on the same visit and also a magic golem. Then we pocket plane rest and return enabling auto-pause when characters target has gone, worthwhile for these high level enemies and whirlwind attacks.

We work back down the left flank, Sarevok using the Wave halberd to snuff out salamanders when required. He does the same on the right and the area is clear.

Temple interior.
Two fire giants are at the top of the stairs so we kill them before pocket plane resting. Berenn and his guards are cut down, then Imoen triggers a maze trap. We wait for her to return, then retrieve a huge beating heart.

Imix scares Sarevok so I remove fear. We could overwhelm them but instead we allow Sarevok to wave the Wave halberd into a burning man, Imix and a second burning man.

I don't fancy the walk so pocket plane, get Cespenar to add a stone golem page to Edwin's book before we shop with Karthis al-Hezzar again.

Siege camp.
I can't help myself, I have to try Yaga Shura oops, forgot to return the hearts. I realise he is indeed invulnerable, so we return to the swamp. At least we know where to find him when we return.

Nyalee.
High level magic is used but whirlwind attacks devastate Nyalee and her minions. The heart of Yaga Shura has been extinguished so we rest and return to Yaga.

Siege camp.
Yaga Shura takes his time to arrive, then quickly leaves when injured. We wait and wait, until he eventually returns.

Tougher Yaga Shura. From the Read-me.

In David Gaider's words: "This mod makes the last fight with Yaga-Shura a bit more of a tussle... the army spawns have been increased in number and given better AI (as well as had some low-level mages and clerics thrown into the mix). Yaga-Shura himself has been given some better powers and AI, including his lieutenants...and his invulnerability slowly wears off during the course of the battle with him, making this fight a bit trickier. One caution: a couple of times crashes were reported soon after Yaga-Shura re-appears. I was not able to verify if this was due to a specific bug or due to too much graphic overload, but it does seem to be rare regardless."

I wish I'd read the bit about wearing off slowly instead of charging in and wasting my early attacks. Should have dropped the lieutenant duo first.

Viconia gets blocked and killed.

Imoen is asleep, Korgan and I are badly wounded and Sarevok is being targeted. He glugs an oil of speed as I de-buff the lieutenant mage and kill him/her.

Our remaining skeleton warriors attack the lieutenant fighter so we can focus on Yaga Shura. Then we break and kill the fighter, glug potions of healing and sigh as Imoen is immolated.

Yaga Shura is badly wounded and Korgan has his voice back. He GWW's, so I do the same. Yaga Shura knocks Korgan back, but he is near death. Kogan returns for his final GWW.

Yaga Shura fireballs again and we gulp healing potions. I've had enough of this.

I use my bracers to revive Viconia, and she in turn raises Imoen. Then we return to the pocket plane to have a break.
