Used all the money from the dungeon and circus to pay for reputation increase to 17. The circus made 18 and the slaver HQ 20. Wolfsbane was well protected against spells with his rage and a normal save vs spells of 1 - with the possibility of 3 extra from equipping Claw of Kazgoroth (not used yet) and 2 extra from using Horn of Kazgoroth (used once). That meant the slaver mages were much less problem than usual and also that the ambushes were rather less daunting.
Purchasing sword of roses got charisma to 20 - other immediate purchases with funds from the Copper Coronet were ID glasses, air control ring, stonefire axe, reflection shield and Azuredge.
Got a few goodies from the Suna Seni ambush, then cleared the tombs at the top of the graveyard, rescued a teddy bear, saved a skinflint nephew and found a new home for an orphan. Also followed up a grave mystery and ended up receiving a strange pair of trousers as a ransom.
While exploring the Bridge District rage allowed Wolfsbane to acquire a shiny horn. He also solved the skinner murders and got a point of reputation back from the 2 lost for kidnapping (also reached level 11). On that point remember never return to the scene of the crime. Then a single rage (+DUHM, +II) was enough to put the fallen paladins out of their misery and get reputation back to 20. He celebrated by buying one of my favourite items, Tymora's Gift (luck +3 / MR +10%).
At this point Wolfsbane finally spotted Renfeld being mugged. The mage was slow getting defenses up and fell to the first, enraged, blow of the combat and his compatriots didn't put up much more of a struggle. Sanasha, Prebek and their guards also went down to a single rage and Wolfsbane finished off the Xzar quest.
Finally in the session he headed back to the Promenade to take on the party in the inn. There was another ambush on the way by quite a powerful party, but Wolfsbane had no trouble with them (although the mage did last long enough to make him use a second rage). At the inn Wolfsbane produced his first berserker and engaged the enemy. Unfortunately the initial attack did too much (or not enough) damage to Brennan and he immediately took a potion of invisibility and ran away. Wolfsbane tried dropping a fireball at his feet with the hope of catching him, but no such luck. The remainder went down easily enough and Wolfsbane was left with the consolation prize of some full plate armour.

@Gate70: gratz on your continued success. That was a most awesome screen capture of Nizidrammanii'ii (or whatever - don't ask me to spell or pronounce dragon names) in his death throes! I've never see a photograph quite like that!

After the traps went off, three of the five Demon Knights where now fully dead but I’m not in the mood to take chances so we ran out of the room and set another five traps behind the door and got ready to yell surprise!
I decided to rest at the Svirfneblin village (helped them get rid of a pest) then unlocked the remaining prisoners from the Globe & payed the eyes a visit... luring the big one up stairs gives us room to spread out and avoids any nasty surprises. Now Do’Dad quickly collects all the loot (cloaked) and perhaps we’ll return later to finish killing off the rest of the nest but to be honest I doubt I’ll bother.
Damsels in distress:

Lady Silverback needs some
Do’Dad gets a nifty new belt and has finally reached level 14 (maxing out his ‘Turn’ ability).

Paying Gaelan got Wolfsbane to level 12. He then did Mae'Var's tasks, though has not turned him in as yet. Note the value of Tymora's Gift belt when triggering traps in the guild. I think a couple of my characters have died to this repeating damage trap, but the +3 luck reduces damage hugely to make it quite bearable. Similarly, after Rayic's various mantles / protection from magic weapons expired Wolfsbane bored in on him and managed to crack his stoneskins before suffering unbearable damage from a double fire shield. His first conflict with vampires occurred at this point with Tanova - Azuredge doing his job.
An inventory clear-out enabled him to buy helm of charm protection, negative token, Dread Bond and Vhailor's Helm prior to going to Umar Hills. The Helm got a first workout on an ambush on the way to the City Gates. Arriving in Umar Hills Wolfsbane found a beljuril and declined to help some young adventurers (I seem to remember doing this causes a problem with ranger quests). He also got accosted by a group of various orcs that I wasn't expecting - I think this comes from one of the stronghold quests as well (all of which are open to Wolfsbane through SCS2). Brokered a deal with Madulf (level 13), returned a ring to Smeagol and some mimic blood to Jermien. Two swings of his axe ended Anath's evil and various undead quickly followed. He picked up the Black Wolf Talisman to have a full collection of items for the first time.
Killing lots of undead got Wolfsbane to level 14 just before taking on the Shade Lord. He used DUHM, rage, II and simulacrum for that encounter. The simmy destroyed the altar with a sunstone bullet and Wolfsbane Shadow Patrick in the first instants of the fight. As I've noted before the Shade Lord is immune to sudden death from Azuredge, but with 2 of the axes flying at him he still got worn away before the simmy disappeared.
After a rest Wolfsbane decided to have a go at the dragon. The negative token protected against draining and the Dread Bond against dragon fear and the -1 save against spells so the plan was to cower in a corner while wearing Thaxy down. I've done this at least once before, if not twice, but this time had no joy. Thaxy was taking no damage from his missile weapons; at first I thought that was due to stoneskins, but after hitting him 78 times I decided he must have 100%+ resistance to missile weapons! Therefore Wolfsbane pulled out his simmy and berserker allies again and proceeded with a game of slash the dragon. That worked well and Thaxy died before Wolfsbane needed to resort to extra-healing potions (I tend to play a side game to see how far I can get without using any of those).

Write-up of previous nights ending, plus something I wasn't expecting
The pocket plane solar has told me to take more care with the ladies in my party.
Pocket Plane Challenge Two: Evil Vayler.
We're buffed (offensive, defensive, death magic). Korgan GWW's Tamoko, then Sarevok GWW's evil me. He and I turn to Angelo, my blow kills him and a deva kills Semaj. Imoen has a slight scratch while I am lightly wounded.
Viconia gets all chatty and I choose what I think are the right options. I'm a little confused, but that is nothing to how Viconia feels.

Note her class is no longer cleric, and her level 25 ring recently obtained is frapped. Not sure if this is to do with her death, a bad choice on my part or her romance continuation not being handled correctly in BGT. Might have a look in Shadowkeeper and correct it if obviously wrong.
EDIT: Found something similar for Anomen, and mentions casting Shield of the Archons - which I use.

This session was all about Trademeet. As a precaution Wolfsbane bought rod of resurrection and shield of Balduran as well as a few potions and scrolls before setting off. Thus far he has used virtually no consumables (just a dozen or so potions of healing), but it always feels nice to have a full backpack! Then he was off on his travels again. Fighting through to the troll mound got him to level 15.
Kyland Lin and his gang could have been dangerous, but a couple of attempts to doom Wolfsbane failed, so he didn't have to take any action to boost his saving throws (basic -4 vs spells). I was a bit concerned when the nymphs started trying something called blinding beauty,

but that offered a saving throw so did not seem to be an immediate problem. There were also a couple of call lightnings operating, but the belt protected against those so they were doing low damage and Wolfsbane was still only slightly damaged when he one-shotted each of the 3 summoned nymphs. Among the goodies on the bodies was the staff of earth, which should provide increased summoning ability (though it was drained when found).
Some trolls delayed his march across the bridge so Wolfsbane retreated for a bit to allow the fungal spores to die down. He found Belm nearby, but Wolfsbane already has 9/2 attacks when dual wielding and Belm only increases that to 5 (the engine limit). He's therefore probably better off in most situations dual wielding an axe to take advantage of his grand mastery bonus. Sold the gear found to date and bought Adratha's potions of power as an investment for fights where HPs may be an issue. Then with the help of simmy and berserker the rakshasas were quickly put out of their misery - none of them managing to get off an attacking spell.
In the fight with Dalok Wolfsbane + simmy had buffed with DUHM and rage as well as a first use for Ilbratha. None of the druids were able to get a spell off with 7 attacks a round from stonefire bursting through their ironskins.
In the druid grove Faldorn was waiting. It may seem a big risk to take her on with a fighter (with SCS2 druid stronghold installed it's not possible to get Cernd to fight for you as I know from bitter previous experience). However, it's actually not that risky if you know what to expect. Faldorn's concentration is poor so that any damage is likely to disrupt her spells. Wolfsbane has basic THAC0 of 2 with his fists (-4 with rage and DUHM operating) so should only miss with a critical. In addition he has 2 guaranteed lots of damage from Bhaal drain life so should be able to disrupt the first couple of spells from Faldorn (which are likely to be II and stoneskins, either of which would have been bad news for Wolfsbane). In the event she never managed to get a spell off, though her spider form did get a few stings in on Wolfsbane while he was running away between spell attempts.
Back in Trademeet Taquee died almost immediately (leaving his bottle behind him) and the simmy chased Wolfsbane into the tent. Unfortunately this caused him to go out of control, but he still provided a distraction while the real thing went II and dealt with the khan. The other djinn had gone invisible, but never reappeared, so must have chased his master back to the elemental plane. I don't think he carries anything anyway so no real loss.
After receiving the thanks of a grateful town Wolfsbane helped Tiris and cleared a tomb. That got him to level 16. He bought Tansheron's bow, Ras, necklace of missiles and a recharged staff of earth from the town's merchants.
Next up I'm intending to do a lich hunt in the city.

I still needed more chores in order to prove myself a worthy Drow...The low point was working for a fish * but killing a mage named Vithal ** earned me level 14 so that gets my ‘Spell Sequencer’ into operation. I’m mildly ashamed to admit skipping Deirex the Lich this ran but it just wasn’t worth the extra risk.
* This battle is easy if you remember that we only need to kill/ loot one Drow to win so Do’Dad cast ‘Blade Barrier’ then I cloaked us with ‘Invisibility, 10' Radius’;
Round 1 Alyssia, Do’Dad & Amber moved up.
Round 2 Amber turned Qilue into a Drow paddle-pop whilst the rest of us moved towards the door and/ or summoned peons.
Round 3 We abandoned our peons to a hopeless battle whilst we fled... Amber claimed the +4 dagger.
** This battle just showcases the power of the ‘Detect Invisibility’ skill... AFAIA it’s the only absolute in the game ( ignores ‘Non Detection’/ ‘Spell Immunity: Divination’ ) with 125 points, Alyssia always manages to pick them out of the fog of war.
I almost forgot to say that I did some shopping before leaving Ust'Natha, notably; “Staff of Earth +2”, “Kaligun’s Amulet” & “Rod of Smiting”.

As suggested last time this session was primarily about fighting liches. However, as an appetiser for this Wolfsbane took on the Unseeing Eye quest. With his negative saves he had no problems with the beholders - just needing to stay aware of the damage done by cause wounds spells (there's not much point using shield of Balduran with SCS as this quickly gets removed by telekinesis anyway). Also saw off a sea troll before relieving Keldorn and proceeding on a hunt for a rod.
Fortunately I had not disposed of the gloves of healing from the paladins so was able to get rid of the spirit of hate in Amaunator's temple. Talking to the priest got Wolfsbane to level 17.
The lich in the Unseeing Eye pit was a victim of Azuredge. The simmy was not available at the time, but Ras, the berserker and the efreeti all made an appearance while Wolfsbane worked through the rest of the undead and then waited for a magical sword to disappear. The large group of priests were taken out with the help of simmy and summons - the simmy was the only one to last just long enough to help with the big eye after Wolfsbane joined the rod (levelling to 18).
After returning the rod and dealing with the remaining cultists Wolfsbane took on the nearby lich. This one was a more difficult affair. I was concerned seeing the list of things going on in its second timestop, though they only did about 40 HPs. Even after that Wolfsbane had to deal with 4 summoned fiends, which I'm never particularly pleased to see, before going back to the lich. At that point it was finally out of protection from magic weapons and was destroyed within a round.
Reporting success to the Lathander temple Wolfsbane was offered a room of his own. I don't think I've ever completed the cleric stronghold quests, so there's something new to look forward to.
I prepared more carefully for the lich in the Bridge district, so of course it was destroyed by one of the Wolfsbane twins' initial attacks! On arrival at the City Gates Wolfsbane helped a merchant out, but he had nothing worthwhile buying. Then he took on the lich in the inn. With no retreat possible I took no chances and equipped Wolfsbane with a protection from magic scroll. However, once again his second attack was deadly, taking the lich out a fraction before its protection from magic weapons became effective.
No shortcuts with Kangaxx - he was immune against destroy undead. However, the protection from magic scroll was still operating and initially stood Wolfsbane in good stead while he used Azuredge to kill a couple of bonefiends. Kangaxx tried destroying magic protection via wish as well as spellstrike, but without result (I didn't install the SCS component allowing spellstrike to take down a protection from magic scroll) so his timestops were not too much of a threat. Azuredge killed the summoned fiends and initial lich form, but could not hit the demi-lich. Wolfsbane had been saving up darts from the cloak of stars for some time and, once all the protection from magic weapons spells were used up, he let fly with a hail of those. While he was doing that his scroll ran out and Kangaxx immediately used a greater malison - bringing Wolfbane's save vs spells down to just -1. He countered with a charge from Horn of Kazgoroth, but a flurry of wiltings from Kangaxx (only doing around 20 damage each, but that still wears you down after a while) induced him to run away and drink all his remaining standard healing potions from the dungeon before raging again and returning. Kangaxx tried several more wiltings, but didn't get HPs down quite far enough to allow his power word kills a chance to work.
After about 40 hits Wolfsbane's darts finally got through the stoneskins and started to do damage, but he only had 10 left at that point and the damage was healed virtually at once by regeneration anyway. Rummaging through his bag Wolfsbane couldn't find any basic +4 weapons, but did pull out Daystar (one of my mods makes this act as a +4 weapon for the purposes of hitting creatures in line with P&P rules). However, with no proficiency in this he couldn't hit hard enough to outpace Kangaxx's regeneration. At this point the options seemed to boil down to going to try and buy a better weapon or accepting that the time had come to start using potions. Choosing the latter he used a potion of extra-healing (to keep him above the 60 HP limit for power word kill) followed by magic protection, speed, and fire giant strength. With that armoury he was able to slightly outpace regeneration and a couple of turns or so later Kangaxx was dead. That provided level 19 in addition to a rather spiffy ring!

I have Ascension, BGT, Fixpack, BG2 tweaks (hideous mirroring, consistent stats) and generalised biffing. I only have 13 items in my override folder so can't see anything obvious there.ussnorway wrote...
@Gate70 FYI I can’t reproduce this error using a basic (GoG) install or with my current mods; Ascension, Fix pack & SCS so I’d be inclined to suspect one of your other mods e.g Devine remix would have to be a definite possibility but try resetting to an earlier save without the script error & temp removing any ‘Shield of the Archons’ SPPR701 from your override folder (game will reset to the default spell) & test the spell in game to see if that fixes the issues.
It may be a combination of spells I cast, Viconia tends to have 5-10 buffs during key battles.
Nice updates ussnorway and Grond0.

With funds from his previous expedition he bought the Sundered Shield of Tiernon, Clasp of Bron's Cloak and Defender of Easthaven. None of those have been used yet, but have been acquired in preparation for a possible future strategy of resisting physical damage.
Wolfsbane finally spoke to Nalia and agreed to help her. I have tended to do this quest early on in my runs, which makes dealing with the spirit trolls a pain. However, they were no threat to Wolfsbane. He didn't bother with any buffs, summons etc for the trolls, though did put on DUHM and rage for the yuan-ti mage in the library - his spells were interrupted by elemental damage and he was finished off with a vicious left-handed swipe. He also used the rod of terror on some of the trolls in order to manipulate his charisma up to 25, which seems more appropriate for someone seeking to become a god.
He beat up the smaller golems in melee and then just sat in the poison mist for a bit while using Azuredge to finish off the iron golem. Acquiring Frostreaver gives him a second axe with elemental damage to annoy those stoneskinned mages. Repairing the Flail of Ages got him to 20th level and a first HLA. That was actually wasted as he chose magic resistance (I know the description says the 50% is fixed rather than additive, but the cleric spell says the same and that's not the case with it, so I wanted to check).
Forgot to place the dog stew until after the umber hulks were all dead so lost a bit of XP there. In the final battle with Torgal Wolfsbane brought in his simmy. By the time he ran out only the yuan-ti mages were left. Using Gaxx improved haste gave Wolfsbane 9 APR and he soon blew through their defenses. He then accepted Nalia's offer to guide the Hold through some troubled times.
Tying up a loose end he returned to the druid grove to deal with Nilthiri before returning to the city - where he fully upgraded the berserker horn and got Cromwell to make a suit of dragon armour and upgrade the reflection shield.
Next up was Firkraag's domain. First port of call was to return the acorns that had been moldering in Wolfsbane's pack for months. That got him to level 21. Moving towards the area exit Wolfsbane encountered General Chang and his associates. I've not seen them before, but they were dangerous fighters. The General had the distinction of forcing Wolfsbane to take a extra-healing potion before falling to Gaxx improved haste. He then used ring of invisibility while he regenerated and then buffed up properly (including a first use of hardiness) and quickly took down Kang, Thangrim the Blade (who used a hammer!) and Ortus Hammerstrike (who used an axe!). General Chang came complete with several very powerful items, but I think Wolfsbane has more than enough to cope with SoA already. I'll put them in the backpack for now - might consider using them in Throne of Bhaal if he gets that far.
The only threat in the dungeon was from the early group of vampires. The backstabs and blood-drinking of the ancient and elder vampires made Wolfsbane retreat to heal invisibly at one point and buff up with DUHM and rage. All the rats etc moved after him anyway, but an opening fireball dealt with them and Ilbratha's mirror image stopped the backstabs, while Wolfsbane mowed down the opposition.
Fittingly, a group of greater wolfweres got Wolfsbane to level 22. At the end of the dungeon Wolfsbane suspected an ambush and prepared some surprises of his own. By the time Samia noticed him and started talking two of her group had already died. The remainder didn't do much better, though Legdoril did get a sanctuary off allowing him to try a slay living on Wolfsbane - he's welcome to try that against a saving throw of -9.
Wolfsbane decided he didn't need any help against Tazok or against Conster. The latter put up a better fight than I expected, various mantles, improved mantles, protection from magic weapons and stoneskins keeping him going for quite a while and meanwhile getting Wolfsbane dangerously close to the 90 HP mark for power word stun. However, eventually he ran out of protections and that was that - Wolfsbane also getting to level 23. That also incidentally brought his stock of extra-healing potions up to 3 figures (all found rather than bought). Firkraag would be easy meat at this point, but I think he needs to be left alone for the moment so he can be done as part of the paladin stronghold quests.
Wolfsbane is probably already over-levelled for Irenicus, but I'd like to do a completionist run and leaving quests to do after Spellhold will only mean he will be even more over-powered, so he'll keep going here for a while. At least until Spellhold (which I don't know as well) that means that the only real danger should be the result of mistakes / lack of concentration.

Viconia can no longer use her Talos ring as her alignment has changed. Funny really as she only got the ring in the previous encounter so hasn't used it at all. I decide to leave it equipped until it is forcibly removed, maybe this is the cause of her class issue too. Since she can cast spells etc I am just going to ignore it.
Korgan equips the Runehammer +4 and keeps the Shield of the Order in his backpack. I take Shuruppak's Plate, and Sarevok takes my cast-off armour (of the Hart).
The Oasis.
A mass of attackers appear, we start to fight but Viconia has to step back. Edwin and Imoen cast WotB and chain lightning but few attackers are killed. Their next choice, ADHW and skull trap are more effective. I manage to kill Jamis Tombelthen as their spells demolish the enemy.

We rest in Amkethran, Viconia asking me about love. When we wake up I notice she is described as a cleric once more.
Captain Erelon doesn't like my questions and attacks us so we kill him and his mercenaries. Then we bump into Saemon Havarian, having to fight for him once more. Then we stop a monk from killing a priest of Waukeen. Amkethran is a bloodthirsty place, although we do what we can by paying 3000gp to save the mayor's daughter from a death sentence.
Marlowe decides to hand himself in to Vongoethe, but once his daughter is safe the cavalier in me declares the original deal null and void since it involved bartering with human souls. Vongoethe attacks us, but we're prepared so respond in kind.

We have to remove various defensive buffs before Viconia can kill him.

Our circuit of the settlement is complete, and Balthazar comes to speak. I have to decide which Bhaalspawn to tackle next. As we rest Viconia repeats her previous conversation, then Imoen tells me she is having strange feelings related to Bhaal. Oh great.
Draconis.
Edwin and Imoen prepare contingencies and sequencers. Then we rest and buff. Edwin and Imoen wait as the rest of us venture forwards. The battle is short.

Draconis the dragon.
Edwin and Imoen hear the roar of Draconis and come to investigate. Sarevok, Korgan and myself have GWW'd. The four of us hit him before his stoneskin activates, injuring him.
A wing buffet spreads us out as Edwin arrives. Draconis has vanished and re-appears to brown-dragon breath Edwin. Our mage could not have timed his entrance worse, and is dead without his contingencies triggering.
Imoen is slower, her contingencies firing. She adds a spell sequencer too. Then a few spells until they start reflecting back to her.

I'm injured but decide to add a second GWW instead. I have to step back and glug a healing potion. Korgan is on his third GWW as Viconia casts a bolt of glory.
Sarevok has to glug a healing potion, then Korgan uses an offhand Crom Faeyr to end the battle.

I am looting his corpse as it drops, while Viconia is raising Edwin.

We're slow to react to a greater werewyvern, allowing it to reach Viconia instead of me. Before we realise it our cleric is poisoned and dead. The battle itself is easy, and I use my bracers to raise Viconia again. She tosses her Talos ring into her backpack and we continue. The next time we rest she asks me about love for a third time.
We traverse a short watery tunnel, emerging to greet five frost salamaders. Sarevok grins, brandishing the Wave halberd briefly and stands on the pile of fresh corpses. A bit later, and we have filled a bottle with breath liquid.
The next tunnel leads us to Kuo-Toa and water elementals. Four skeleton warriors and a deva plus the six of us are all hasted. Hindo's hand and a rope are obtained here.
More hasted skeleton warriors clear out an army of skulls, then we subcontract a beholder quest to obtain a scroll and the bronze pantalettes. Then we buff and tackle a trio of elder orbs for ourselves.
We free the green dragon and pocket plane rest before buffing and proceeding.
Abazigal.
We start with Quenash, then the salamanders and other wyverns. Tamah has knocked Imoen unconscious while Viconia is injured. We target Tamah, but Viconia is killed. Sarevok, Korgan and I GWW. She collapses.

Abazigal is next, when he transforms we are thrown around the cave. Edwin and Imoen start their spell traps and sequences as we are thrown across the cave again. Edwin gets blue dragon breath, and although protected from lightning he is chunked.
Korgan is held by a Bigby clenched fist. I am targeted by imprisonment, not good and I don't get to see if Korgan will wake up, or if Sarevok and Imoen can win on their own, as Abazigal is badly wounded.
Game Over

After dealing with Conster he arrived back at the cabin and Garren Windspear asked rather pointedly where his daughter was - details, details. After a quick return trip she was saved and Garren suggested that Wolfsbane inquire for work at the Order of the Radiant Heart. As a result he was immediately sent to the Umar Hills to deal with an invasion - and within seconds of doing that he was tasked with a ranger quest to prevent the forest being dug up (it's all action).
Back on the paladin trail Wolfsbane sorted out Baron Metrich, but then was asked to guard a woman. I remembered that the appropriate action for this involves casting detect evil, but didn't have the ability to do so (without using a scroll via potion trick). I had a vague feeling that there's an item that has this ability, but couldn't track it down. In the process of looking for it Wolfsbane sold his unneeded equipment and bought the Hammer of Comminution (50% acid resistance) and Plate of Balduran.
I had decided just to take a chance on accepting the guardian as the real one. However, in the event that wasn't required. Wolfsbane beat off one assassination attempt and then went upstairs. He saw a text message about an assassin attacking Tyrianna and used Dragonslayer to cast detect invisible, but at the same moment that cast the assassin struck - so much for paladinhood! Wolfsbane didn't waste much time before casting so this encounter really is one where you have no chance unless you know what will happen and plan for it ahead of time.
Seeing if he could have more success as a ranger Wolfsbane returned to Umar Hills and beat off some ogrons - getting to level 24 in the process. After dealing with enquiries at the fighter and cleric strongholds Wolfsbane was back in the Umar Hills tracking down Valygar. As I'm strict about not recruiting anyone in a solo game Valygar had to die, which only took a few seconds.
Next up will be the planar sphere.
