Thanks, UssNorway. Posted Image

So, tonight, I completed the Circus module, no problems. Ano is wearing the charisma ring for now.

Went back to the Copper Coronet, ran the cutscene and stopped at the door to the gladiator prison. Will continue next time. I'm looking forward to this.

If Soprana the Skaldress fails, I may start again with Alta the Skaldress. And then, Baritona, and Baritonus. Followed by Tenora and Tenorus. Not to mention Bassa and Bassus. Maybe even Supernus and Altus. And there could be Viola, Violus, Violina, Violinus, Cellus, Cella, Flauta, Flautus, Trompus, Trompa, and so on and so forth.

LOL - does anyone else see the pattern? Come on, am I truly the only one of me here?

Farther dooming this run as a no-reload run is the fact that Kelsey has a
witch chasing him, wanting to dissect his sorcerous ability out of his
dead body, who has a Symbol:Stun, and I know she will attack us while we
are defenseless against it. She will cause a party-wipe very early in
this run, unless I get lucky with saves against the Symbol:Stun.

Thanks Belgarath. Quick question - does this mod you are talking about, does she she have True sight in her script? If not, cast invisibility on youself before triggering it! Remember, invisibility (NOT improved invis, just the normal one) lasts for 24 hours! Worst case scenario your party wipes but you survive because they can't see you!

It's an idea, anyways. The other possibility is things like magic blocking potions - if the enemy has time to cast Symbol: Stun, surely there's time for you to use a potion, which is faster (assuming your aura is clear). You could even try to use an invis potion on your sorc when the battle triggers, to make sure you live, as another idea.

UD5;

@ BelgarathMTH, Did you forget about Fica the Jester?

My game bugged out last time so I had to reload the autosave at the top of the staircase, I didn’t want to wipe but felt some buffs are justified so I compromised and put up skins all round before heading into battle again.

Starting rounds:

Posted Image  Posted Image  Posted Image

I ran to the door corner this time but apparently remembering my skins meant that I forgot to remove “Harp of Discord” from my quickslot... dolt, dolt, dolt.

With the loons behaving even wilder than normal my only good news was getting the drop on Jaheira ID & dispatched the fake party before she could repeat the last performance, so I’m ONLY facing Ickky (+ his summons) but the lunatics forgot to buff up.

Tip: You can use “Rod of Resurrection” to ‘Heal’ the loons...expensive but keeps them in play a little longer.

Middle rounds:

Posted Image  Posted Image  Posted Image

Even with a couple heals, Irenicus made short work of them so I had to help out... Viconia has the highest MR so she takes first shift then Mazzy (in Slime form) stepped in next but ‘Abi Dalzim's Horrid Wilting’  soon overwhelms them all... Yippee for Tiax, last loon standing!

Final rounds = tag your it:

Posted Image

Irenicus chases us around a bit then pops a Djinni first then an efreeti which we counter with ‘Magic Missile’, ‘Berserker Warrior’ & ‘Doom’.

Posted Image

Irenicus loses his cool and fires a colour spray at  Nalia so naturally she stops casting her only ‘Warding Whip’ spell to say how pretty Valando makes her feel thereby wasting the scroll... dolt!

Posted Image  Posted Image

At this point I can’t break through his shields any more but he is out of offensive spells. fortunately Imoens’ “Wand of Monster Summoning” still had 10 shots remaining & she just kept feeding him peons until his buffs started to time out... so game over, we win.

Now that I finally have my sister back and (for the moment) Irenicus is in retreat... Yes I still needed to kill his murders but they are nice enough to enter the room through a narrow door way so ‘Web’/ ‘Entangle’ to hold them and “Wand of Cloudkill”/ “Wand of Fire”  to dispatch them before returning to the island inn.

Meet the team members:

The front row specialize in dishing out melee pain.

The arcane twins enjoy long walks and swapping stories about their favourite singer.

Sounds like a good tip.  You might even want to have potions of freedom available for a couple of other characters to make sure you can win the battle.  I can't remember if Arbane protects against stun in vanilla, but if it does that's another option.

@UssNorway, gratz on your progress, despite the modded Nalia's inconvenient decisions about good times to flirt. You're getting some good comedy out of it, at least.

@Corey and Grond0, thanks for the tips; those are very good ideas. The attack is part of the Kelsey npc mod, and it always triggers upon map entry, closing you up on the edge with very little wiggle room. You are usually out of position and unbuffed, and you cannot predict exactly when it will happen. (I think there may be a heads-up in Kelsey's dialogue when he tells you about her.) Since I know it's coming, being prepared with invisibility and magic-blocking is a very good idea indeed. I hate to spend that much money so early in the game, but poor is better than dead, for sure.

I started practicing using frequent invisibility casts both in and out of combat to protect my squishies in my other minimal-reload sorceress run, and I now see that it is probably the best defense in the game for arcane casters, even better in certain situations than stoneskin and mirror images. So I am learning from your advice, and I really appreciate the tips from all you more advanced players.

BALANCE AND BLOODSHED II: SHADOWS OF AMN

Chapter III
in which some party reforms are done and lich is battled without proper protection

Cernd was eager to join Atavrksha’s party and soon six druids went together to Athkatla. There Cernd involved our heroes in his family troubles. It turned out that he left a pregnant, now dead wife, when he chose a path of the druid. They helped him in finding his son and then he left to take care of him.

Rest of the druids remained in Athkatla and resumed their work. Atavrksha decided to balance city’s undead, as party heard stories about vampires prowling the streets and even witnessed some of them. Some of the undead (especially a certain lich) tried to avoid the druids by locking their doors, so they had to look for a locksmith. First they went to Copper Coronet and hired Yoshimo, a thief they’ve met in Irenicus’ dungeon. He turned out to be a very poor thief and failed to open the lock. Druids had to look for help elsewhere. In government district they’ve met a gnome, Jan Jansen, who knew a lot about lock, traps and turnips. He agreed to help druids with their undead problem, though not without telling them a story full of his distant relatives, druids and undead. Atavrksha had a strong suspicion that she was being insulted. While leaving the district party witnessed a drow being burned by religious fanatics. They chose not to intervene. After all, racism is a natural state in human cities. The fact that they themselves didn’t like drows had nothing to do with that. As Jan’s story unfolded they decided they don’t like gnomes either. When he opened the door, they told him to return to his turnip peddling business and attacked the lich. Thanks to Pixie Dust lich didn’t see them coming and was surprised by the Harm spell. Dolorous Decay spells didn’t work however [though there was a "Lich- Poison" note] and druids retreated when they saw that lich protected himself from magical weapons. About half a minute later, still invisible Ashoka returned to check if maybe the lich haven’t forgotten about the Stoneskins. He did forgot.

Posted Image

Under the graveyard druids found more spiders then undead and even a drow priestess. She summoned a really large number of spiders, but Atavrksha’s Chain Lightning quickly balanced them.

Posted Image
[Only in this playthrough I discovered that this spell affects only enemies. I always assumed it targets everyone, especially that it does work that way in Icewind Dale.]

Satisfied with their anti-undead efforts, party moved on to another quest – they left the city to help Nalia De’Arnise clear her keep from the trolls and yuan-ti. Druids bravely and efficiently balanced the creatures, but Nalia wasn’t impressed and strenghtened the Balance Restoration Fund (that’s a name that Cuta invented for the party’s gold reserves) by mere 650 gp. It was a good thing that they liberated some of the keep’s inventory. Not all of it, of course – they’re not some common thieves, after all – they only took the expensive stuff. Of note, they found a Ring of Earth Control – equipped by Druma.

Party status:
Atavrksha – avenger 12, 66 HP (with Pale Green Ioun Stone), fav. spell: Chromatic Orb, 74 kills (Glaicas) [she have nearly beaten Ashoka thanks to that Spider Chain Lighting Massacre]
Ashoka – fighter 9/druid 11, 101 HP (with Helm of Balduran), fav. spell: Cure Light Wounds, 77 kills (Lich)
Druma – berserker 3/druid 12, 76 HP, fav. spell: Flame Blade, 115 kills (TorGal) [she no longer uses Flame Blade, since I realised it doesn't count as scimitar]
Cuta – totemic druid 12, 77 HP, fav. spell: Summon Spirit Animal, 19 kills (Clay Golem) [she don’t kill much herself, but her summons do]
Vrk – shapeshifter 12, 59 HP, fav. spell: Werewolf Shapeshift, 33 kills (Nilthiri)

Trendan the level 19 Undead Hunter - FINAL SoA Update
Traveling with Korgan, Minsc, Anomen, Edwin, Imoen

When we last heard of Trendan, they were dealing with the parasites at the Tree of Life. The elementals of course didn't even have a ghost of a chance. Before killing the last one we did a few buffs, resist fear and SI:N on the two mages and death ward on Minsc. Trendan's saves vs. spells is 1, not to mention he is using Carsomyr. We had a planetar and other summons (who get killed almost right away with death spell).

The battle ranged for quite a while, with Irenicus putting up up his spell defenses as fast as we take them down. At one point, Korgan, Minsc and Anomen were all mazed! Trendan and the mages were taking damage from the area effects, so we turned off the AI and got the party out of the effects. Once out, the mages did horrid wilting, Imoen did a breach. Finally, Trendan starting getting some good hits, including dispelling Irenicus defenses. Somewhat fittingly, Trendan got the killing blow and no one died! Though it was close...
Posted Image

Being a paladin, Trendan was pretty much forced to do the good routes here in Hell. The beholders were soloed by Korgan and Minsc and a dark planetar using the standard anti-beholder items (cloak of mirroring, shield of balduran). What was great though, was Edwin leveled and got a level 9 spell slot! He used it for Dragon Breath - I rarely use this spell, mainly because I forget I have it, but will use against Irenicus.

Before triggering the main fight, we did 2 skeletal warriors and 2 ariel servants FAR away from the party, this way a death spell can't get them all. Also a dark planetar was summoned. We did massive buffs, including SI:N and mirror images on the mages. At this point ALL saves for Trendan were negative, so wasnt worried about him too much, but Anomen and Minsc needed the buffs. Finally we are ready.

I didn't control the 3 melees, they have scripts (though should have activated GWW, forgot that most of them had that. All have WW in any case). Anomen did storm of vengeance and bolts of glory, Edwin horrid wiltings and dragon's breath, and Imoen 2x horrid wiltings and magic missile. For the 1st time EVER in my runs, Irenicus did NOT dimension door away, but was killed before he could do it! Oh, Trendan was using Foe Bane since that is a huge help vs. the demons, Minsc dragon fear sword and IMoD and Korgan using Stonefire and Crom Faeyr off-hand.
Posted Image

Trendan will continue his party in ToB. Think will keep the same party, they work well together, plus I am seeing a lot of dialogue this run I haven't seen before.

Gratz, Corey! Well done.

With Soprana, I have completed the Slaver Ship and defeated Suni while trying to get to the Promenade. Bought some freedom, magic shielding, and other potions to try against the inevitable ambush against Kelsey.

Not sure where I'll go next - I think I'll try to get out to Umar Hills before it spawns shadow fiends.

Congratulations Corey.

I've retired my last run - Del de-portraited Jaheira, decided to carry on until Tanova did the same to Anomen and I didn't want to replace them or run with a smaller party. Must remember not to visit the docks at night with a low level group. Started a Yoshimo lookalike but he tried a special snare against Jondalar, failed to set it and died from the damage.

UPDATE: Soprana the Skaldress, 081312:

Started to get a bit squickish and annoyed by Kelsey's aggresive flirting, with he my junior by many years. I want him to do well, I want to be his teacher and friend, but I am no cougar. I got even more annoyed and squicked by the fact that he was ignoring my engagement to Gavin, and my respect and comeraderie with Ano (who backed off politely after observing Gavin and me sleeping together at the Copper Coronet.) LOL - I needed to install the mod "Crossmod Banter" and its "normal romance kills" component before starting this run. It is now installed.

@UssNorway: Almost every Weidu npc mod has a "player-initiated dialogue" feature where you almost universally have a "stop flirting with me, you are distracting me" dialogue choice. If you did not already know about that, I would suggest that you tell modded Nalia to stop interrupting your combats with flirtations. I always turn that feature on with Weidu npc mods that I try. It can save no-reload runs where you want to play with npc mods and romances.

Discovered a MAJOR game-changer for a skaldress! In my setup that I used for years and years, singing bardsong would end invisibility. In this mostly vanilla setup, (only npc, script-based, and aesthetic mods are installed), I just found by accident that Soprana the Skaldress can sing bardsong and remain invisible! Holy crap! Does anyone know if the "bardsong ends invisibility" bit came from a mod, like maybe Tweaks or SCS Core Components, or if maybe if it is a difficulty slider thing? Mine is set on normal now, for no-reload playing, where it used to always be set on core rules.

Okay, so tonight I went to Umar Hills, and still had to deal with some shadow fiends. They were in the Umar Hills town area at night, although so far, I have not seen them in the Temple of Amaunator.

I remembered an area in the mimic blood cave from years and years ago - stumbled onto it while checking out that cave thoroughly, and almost got party-wiped by a forgotten umber hulk, and left before I stumbled onto more suddenly remembered umber hulks. Are there any magic items worth finding in there?

Started learning new techniques with priest sanctuary plus turn undead. Awesome. My thanks to all the experienced no-reloaders who are teaching me here.

Here are two "christmas tree spell-casting" photos I managed to snap in all the excitement:

Posted ImagePosted Image

I've never used sanctuary spells regularly before. Those blue-glowy columns make the screen more "Star-Warsy", as in blue Jedi lightsaber effects for the priests. Awesome. I continue to be amazed at the lasting power of this game. As I once told the late, great, Frabjous from the old forums, I expect to be playing Baldur's Gate someday from my wheelchair with my IV from the nursing home! Baldur's Gate rules, my friends - there will never be another game as good, for those of us from our generation, I think.  Ciao, auf Wiedersehen, and au revoir.Posted Image

Trendan the level 21 Undead Hunter continues his adventure...
Traveling with Korgan, Minsc, Anomen, Edwin and Imoen
Areas Battled: Nylee's Glade (twice), Yaga's Temple, Siege Camp

BelgarathMTH wrote...
Baldur's Gate rules, my friends - there will never be another game as good, for those of us from our generation, I think.

Well, for me at least, Belgarath, a game made the same year as BG (1998) gets as much use as the BG CD - Birth of the Federation. Love that game, and suprisingly replayable - the randomly created galaxies help a lot with that.

Anyways, on the update. After defeating Gromnir's forces and himself, rather easily I might add, Melissan appeared and told us we had to remove Yaga's invincibility, somehow. So we headed to Nylee's Glade. Yet again, Anomen's turn undead proved very useful, destroying a great many undead that appeared. A breach of the boss quickly spelled his end. Anomen also turned and destroyed the next group of powerful undead. Nylee gave us the information we needed, but next stop Yaga's Temple.

We very carefully took down the enemies guarding the surface area of Yaga's Temple. Even so, took a beating. Finally, we were ready to enter the temple. I just love the battle music that plays when you first enter. Lots of damage spells were cast, and of course things like GWW and Hardiness. Took a while to get all the enemies, but no one in the party died so that's good. Sample screenshot of the battle below:
Posted Image

We gave maximum fire protection for everyone (don't want anybody chunked here, which has happened a few times to me in my previous runs). This included removing a ring of wizardry so that Imoen could use a fire resistance ring and trap increasing ring. Edwin didn't mind inheriting her ring of wizardry. This also meant that Korgan took a big dip in AC and used a shield, so that his fire resistance would be respectable (70%). Minsc opened all the chests in the lava, since his fire resist was 100.

Most of this area was very smooth, lots of use of summons, horrid wiltings and energy blades. We did have one mishap, however. When fighting some burning man enemies, they feared part of the party -- while I did resist fear earlier, I didn't notice the buff expiring. Edwin got feared and survived the enemies only to stop in a lava pit and get burned to a crisp. He was the only party member who we didn't have any fire equipment for, unfortunately. Somehow, there was enough of him to resurrect and bring back to speed. The rest of the temple was dealt with very carefully. At one point, Imoen was detrapping deep in by herself, summoned a planetar and fought by herself against many fire giants. Then the planetar died, she moved into a narrow passage - the giants couldn't follow - but they could get hit by the party's ranged fire! Otherwise, we retrieved the two hearts Nylee wanted. Anomen received an unlimited bullets item, he was happy not to have to reload all the time.

Back at Nylee's place, the party did 3 rounds of buffs, primarily to help the mages survive like MGoI and mirror images. We didn't have any traps for Nylee, but the party and most summons were hasted, and combined with the 3 front-liners doing GWW, that spelled doom for her and her helpers quickly. A couple of horrid wiltings didnt' help the enemies either.

All right, time for the main event! The party made a stop by Saradush, to get as many items/spells as we might need from the spell merchant there - dropped the party gold to a mere 4000. Then we hit Siege Camp.

I love all the many enemies at this camp - ton of experience, 3 people leveled. Edwin got slaughtered, again. Imoen nearly bit it herself, and probably was gulping heal potions like 1/2 the battle. At one point, Imoen is like 4% health, and her Planetar came back and fully healed her! Anomen was busy casting bolts of glory at the giants, after using up his storm of vengeance. We had a lot of summons, but most of them died, so Anomen got some reinforcements during the battle. The melees were doing a lot of their HLAs, WW, GWW and really any HLA that increased their damage. Trendan got badly hurt by Yaga at one point, so he head to pull away and heal before re-engaging. AI had to be turned off a few times, to keep the party focused on Yaga. But the party did prevail, only Edwin biting it.
Posted Image
I tried to take a screenshot of Yaga's death, but that's very hard to do if you don't have enemy gone auto-pause enabled. In any case the party rested up, and next will attempt  to travel to Amkethran. Oh yes, forgot to mention, Korgan finally has a respectable +4 weapon (Yaga's warhammer).

@BelgarathMTH, Bard, Blade & Skald songs don’t break stealth in any of my games but I never played Jester... there is a very buggy Bard Song component in one of the tweak packs.

You can give the mimic blood to Jermien for the surprisingly useful “Ilbratha +1”.

... never too old to learn something new it seems, thanks.

I'm back with another attempt at a kensai dual to a thief.

Geisho completed BG1 without trouble and has just gone through Irenicus' dungeon.  No problems there either, with everything completed.  The Horn of Kazgoroth protected against the potentially troublesome mephits, like in the portal room.  Even Ulvaryl for once failed to turn gaseous in time to avoid a fatal blow.

Here's his character record on exit from the dungeon.

@ Grond0 , good luck again.
P.s. Wouldn’t Kensai – mage work better... the whole {no spells in armour} thing just seems to fit is all?

Anyway, my child-tax is staying at a m8s house so I actually got a couple hours game play in and its not even the weekend yet.

Meanwhile, Back at the inn:

Posted Image  Posted Image  Posted Image

I missed Perth on the way in but we had it out now... the book is on ‘Fireball’ and Jaheira claimed it. I had to wait for dark so we grabbed some supplies before sending in Viconia to fetch the all important horn.

Tip: The house is empty during the daytime so loot it.

Fish City 1:

Posted Image  Posted Image  Posted Image

I got a little cocky here & temp lost two party members, no big deal except  Viconia came back standing in the water...

Imoen “I have an idea to fix this.”
Viconia “Will it hurt?”
Imoen: “Na, trust me.”

Beating the Nasty, nasty got Valando his level 15... new improved bard song, yippee.

Terminate with extreme prejudice:

Posted Image  Posted Image  Posted Image

Viconia suggested it and in a rare occurrence the entire party agreed with her... a simple ‘Glitterdust’ during the final showdown tipped the odds well into my teams side.

Tip: horses for courses, clouds are worthless against these guys even ‘deathFog’ but the ‘Melf's Minute Meteors’ really cuts them up.

I agree a kensai-mage makes more sense, but my original objective for this (quite some time ago now) was to try and maximise backstab damage.  Despite many attempts I've never managed to get far enough to reactivate kensai abilities for a thief, but perhaps this is the onePosted Image.

Geisho has made a bit more progress:
- freeing the circus.
- bought ring of air control for safe travelling around the city.
- freed Copper Coronet and bought Azuredge.
- this time I did decide to get a ioun stone early and went to the graveyard district to confront Pai'Na.  I'm not sure what a trap there does so equipped the Claw of Kazgoroth as well as using the Horn and II - bringing saving throws vs spell down to 1.  Killed Pai'Na pretty easily and then ran the spiders round picking them off one at a time.  For little chaps their poison is pretty nasty and Geisho was poisoned 3 times.  The first two were potioned, but all the spiders were dead for the final one and Geisho used his own Bhaal ability to cure that (pausing / unpausing rapidly to ensure that he had the maximum amount of time available before spell was disrupted).  In the euphoria of finding a ioun stone I forgot to loot Pai'Na's corpse and thus missed out on KitthixPosted Image.
- travelling back from the graveyard Geisho ran into an ambush, but as he was invisible at the time he was able to pick off the mage immediately and the rest caused minimal damage.
- shortly after there was another ambush when Geisho rescued Renfeld using similar tactics.  Geisho has now returned him to the docks and opened up the Mae'Var quests.

I'll probably leave a number of other quests incomplete before dualling in order to give the thief class an easy start.

Great progress, y'all. Gratz.

@UssNorway - thanks for the tips. I did know about the mimic's blood; that's why I was in there. My question was actually whether the umber hulks in the back area of the cave are guarding anything good. See, for years, I always have just been taking the mimic's blood and turning around and leaving. What I had forgotten is that there are a couple more back areas of the cave - that's where I stumbled onto the umber hulk last night. No biggie, though. I can check it out more thoroughly later when I have more chaotic commands spells available.

Keep in mind CC wouldn't strictly be necessary - if the frontliners had the Lilacor and the Shield of Harmony, both of which protect against confusion, then they party would probably be OK as long as the front-liners showed themselves first.

& if no Lilacor/Shield have you got any cloudkills - it usually tears up umber hulks. Add grease or greater malison etc. If any make it out you could have a summons buffer zone waiting and use ranged missiles spells to finish them.

BALANCE AND BLOODSHED II: SHADOWS OF AMN

Chapter IV
in which nothing of interest happens and the whole story seems to be going nowhere

From De’Arnise Keep party went to the grove. Atavrksha was approached by Spirit of the Grove again. This time it sent the party to battle the Chaos itself! A skeptical reader might want to compare the picture below:

Posted Image

When Chaos was defeated and Balance triumphant, druids went shopping (Belt of Innertial Barrier and Cloak of Displacement for Atavrksha) and journeyed back to Athkatla. There they helped a certain dwarf, Korgan, retrieve a valuable tome from a crypt below the city. Why would the druids do such a thing – an inquisitive reader might ask. The answer doesn’t have much to do with druidship: it was a result of Ashoka’s drinking habit. While attending the Copper Coronet bar, he ordered a few beers too many (Cuta is careful to keep most of the party’s gold away from him). Korgan was the one to pay his bill, but not before he made Ashoka swear to help him in his quest. And since Ashoka couldn’t venture forth before gathering the party, all druids went back under the graveyard. The book wasn’t there. Korgan was sure that it was taken by his former comrades and wanted to find them. Druids followed him and summoned a few lightings to balance the thieves. Then Atavrksha told the dwarf to take his book and be gone. But suddenly he attacked the party, which was rather suicidal act on his part, considering the fact that they still had a few lightnings left. Druids sold the book to fuel the Balance Restoration Fund.

[It seems that Korgan turned hostile, because he was kicked out of the party while enraged. When rage ended he took 15 damage caused by an ability used by player controlled character.]

Druids expended some of the gold to purchase Staff of Arundel for Cuta, Bracers of Defense AC 3 and AC 4 for Atavrksha and Cuta (so the latter joined Atavrksha and Vrk in no-armor fashion) as well as Girdle of Hill Giant Strength for Druma and Boots of Grounding for Atavrksha [actually, some of those items were bought earlier, but I forgot to mention it and don’t remember when exactly]. Then they decided to look into the conflict between the Shadow Thieves and some mysterious rival guild as it seemed to be a very destabilizing factor for the city. Their investigation led to working for Renal Bloodscalp, supposedly an important figure among the Shadow Thieves. Their job was to find proof of another guild member’s treachery, To accomplish that they where supposed to work for the suspect – thief called Mae’Var – and earn his trust. They had no idea how could anyone mistake them for thieves (except for Nalia’s aunt, that is), but Mae’Var was obviously stupid enough to fall for that. Working for him brought druids to the temple district, where they witnessed some cleric preaching about a new god, the Unseeing Eye. A Helm’s priest then approached them and ordered to follow him. They didn’t like his tone and decided to ignore the matter (for now, at least). A paladin representing the Radiant Heart Order was more polite, and druids agreed to balance some of his former colleagues.

While doing that they also solved the mystery of the local murderer and balanced a ring of kidnappers. Resuming the work for Mae’Var, they had to suffer whims of Red Wizard, Edwin. Finally they found the proof they needed and balanced Mae’Var.

Then they received reward from Renal and also learned that the man who tried extorting money from them was actually one of the Shadow Thieves, so his offer might be considered a bit more seriously. Especially that he lowered his price to 15 000 gp, probably because druids recieved an offer from the other guild as well. A vampire named Bodhi told them that she can help them in finding Irenicus for 15 000 gp as well. It made Atavrksha wonder why is everyone so obsessed with this mage. Anyway, she refused and again led her party away from the city.

Traveling south party encountered the Warden’s Keep, where a powerful entity was imprisoned. Helmites guarding the Keep asked druids to help in renewing the wards keeping the creature at bay. They agreed and ventured inside. Creatures guarding the first level were balanced with ease, the traps and locks, however, were a major obstacle. But they didn’t stop the druids from opening the portal to the second level. A powerful weapon was found while exploring the level – Usuno’s Blade. Unfortunately, it turned out to be unusable by druids [so Druma still uses Belm/Rashad’s Talon, switching to Root of the Problem/Belm, when +3 weapon is needed].

Party status:
Atavrksha – avenger 13, 68 HP (with Ioun Stone), fav. spell: Chromatic Orb, 100 kills (Glaicas)
Ashoka – fighter 9/druid 12, 102 HP (with Helm of Balduran), fav. spell: Cure Light Wounds, 107 kills (lich)
Druma – berserker 3/druid 13, 78 HP, fav. spell: Cure Serious Wounds, 169 kills (priest – meaning the lich from the 1st level of Warden’s Keep; killed using Protection from Undead scroll)
Cuta – totemic druid 13, 79 HP, fav. spell: Summon Spirit Animal, 29 kills (Chaos)
Vrk – shapeshifter 13, 61 HP, fav. spell: Natural Form Shapeshift (since he can shapeshift into a greater werewolf), 45 kills (statue)

For little chaps their poison is pretty nasty and Geisho was poisoned 3 times.

They seem unimpressive, but I think they are dangerous enough to justify using a Protection from Poison scroll, especially when playing solo.

I suppose that would work, but if solo I prefer fire protection then potion of explosions from Roger to balance the buggers - they may have a bite, but they can't take much.
