Baldur's Gate 2 No-Reload Challenge

Also, can't have Aerie and Korgan at the same time.
Alternatively, you could go with Mazzy or Valgyar. The ideal replacement is Sarevok, but it's kind of a long wait to get him.

I was thinking Keldorn, perhaps. Or I may keep all three ladies without replacement and get Imoen.
Imoen is/will be a sorcerer in my game, so in that scenario I will be very mage heavy with Khemael+Jan+Aerie+Jaheira+Viconia+Imoen. If I keep a tank (Keldorn, Mazzy, or maybe Korgan) one of the ladies have to go. Jan is non-negotiable at this point. (If he dies, I am stuck with Nalia.)
Wow. I gotta admit, this would not have been such a thrill if it wasn't no reload.

Yikes! 24 days since the last post? Not a lot of BG 2 reload going on I see...maybe we should fix that.
I'm back. This run was still going, I managed to save it despite the really bad malware I got on my computer (had to do a factory restore). This is SCS II, no other mods, most of the added difficulty added. The intent of the run is to get as far as I can, then go into the minimal reload thread and get as far as I can, at least finish SoA with reloads, if possible. That way I can learn SCS for future no-reloads.
As for my own posts, been at least 3 months since I posted in this thread, so I imangine every one forgot my party. I have the PC and a bhaal spawn friend, will post their character sheets below:
Misty Character Sheet

Misty keeps the protaganist, Forrest, in line. Also I like monk characters and with no NPCs in vanilla as that class, she is in the party.
Forrest (protaganist)

Forrest class/race/alignment is intentional to give him two ways to do invis 10' and maybe survive SCS for a while.
We had recently taken care of the circus, slavers in the Coronet/ship, and the Coronet Sewers for the Lilacor. After many, many weeks, I loaded the game and saw myself in the slums, facing a door of a house - what was I doing here in this spot? I had no clue. Hmm Jaheira is in the group, Ployer maybe? So we did divine buffs only (no arcane license I was pretty sure), entered the abode, only to find..Gaelen Bayle! Doh! Hmm, maybe Yoshimo has 100% lock picks and getting the chests upstairs? Hmm, nope he's only 85% skill. I came downstairs and finally it dawned on me...I went here to go invis 10' without trouble, so I can travel to other areas.
So I do so, and travel to the government district. No fights on the way. Okay, not enough money for license, but we are still invisible, how about freeing Viconia?
We approach - Yoshimo backstabs, Jaheira call lightning, Forrest uses MMM, Minsc his sword, Aerie hold person, and Misty her fists on an archer. Misty's archer dies first -- our divine casters getting hurt, they back off, with Aerie potioning as well. Forrest's MMM doing good damage, Yoshimo gets a lucky hit, and the fight's all over. Good, survived a SCS fight after a long break. Long way to go still, but it's a start. Our status after the battle:

We will probably rest In Waukeen's Promenade, go invis in a random house, and have a talk to the Priest of Cyric who ended my last SCS run.

I like this. Quite clever. Did you start in BG2 so you could pick that as starting spell? (IIRC, it's not easy to find a scroll with it.)
When I play BG1 Tutu, it annoys me that Inviso 10' Radius is one of very few level 3 spells I have yet to find a scroll for in that game.

Yes, this is not a trilogy no-reload run -- BG 2 no-reload only. And yep picked the spell on character creation. Note that if I played vanilla BG 1, I still would have been given the choice of spells on import of character. As for BG 1 Tutu - if I'm wanting invis 10', I just make sure I am arcane class and chaotic good -- this way I pick familiar as level 1 spell and voila, have access to invis 10' via the familiar.

Traveling with: Minsc, Aerie, Jaheira and Yoshimo
Forrest and gang continue to make progress. By using the V formation and spreading out AND only having one character in melee range, the party cleanly defeated the Priest of Cyric. This NPC took out Vaquen (my first SCS attempt), so it was a nice aveninging him.
Next up, we returned the sick harper and then did the first Harper task. We still don't have our license so minimal buffs. We enter Prebek's house and win with no casualty. As usual, we take some damage...I rarely come undamaged in SCS fights I notice.
We then rob the harpers blind, get an important charm helmet for Jaheira, and see Xzar get murdered. Now the mages of the party have AC 6 bracers, good, good. Because gnomes can't romance Jaheira, Jaheira immediately got summoned to Harper's Hold. We needed to rest to recharge our spells and of course Jaheira returned and got cursed.
Dealing with Ployer was our first priority. We wanted the enemy mages present for their stuff, we need the gold bad. We did end up winning, no casualties. As usual, Forrest's glitterdust/emtion combo has been quite helpful. We rest for a day and Jaheira is now cured. We did get one scare during that fight however - the Cowled Wizards warned us not to use magic! Yikes and we are in a room! Suddenly getting a magic license is our first priority after getting Jaheira cured. And in fact, that's exactly what we do next.
We then go to the Harper's Hold, as usual for SCS, I buff to the max before entering. The party handled the Harper's quite well. To help against enemy casters, Misty has been using unenchanted darts a lot and that has been quite helpful, she often gets hits in that interrupt the enemy caster's initial spells. Also, Forrest's burning hands been helpful when he gets attacked in melee. The extra loot was quite nice to help our gold.
Time to recharge spells again, so we rest in the Sea's Bounty. While here, we decided why not take out the pirate's hide-out. We buff to the max but did not do invis 10'. This turns out to be a grave error -- during the battle we had cast some nymphs. The enemy did a great play and cast chaos. One of the nymphs duly wandered into the lobby of the inn, and promptly killed a patron and The Thumb, dropping our reputation to 4! Good thing my main character isn't a paladin or ranger, as this would have made myself fallen. Minsc, Aerie and Jaheira do a lot of complaining about our reputation.
So instead of getting upgrades or spells, we blow all our gold we got from Jaheira's quest to get our reputation up to 9...We can no longer rest in docks anymore, must use the slums or Waukeen's Promenade now. In addition, you need the Thumb for Jan's quest, so not sure what would happen if we end up with Jan in our group...we won't be using him though at all, unless Yoshimo gets chunked, since Jan is the same class as Forrest, which would be a bit redundant.
So we rest at the Mithril's Inn (the Inn next to the Seven Vales), and consider our next move...

It’s been a while but the plucky Elf is still around.

Most of this update was just finishing off old business before having it out with you know who... I managed to assemble the hammer for Vic and most of my team has their first HLA;

Viconia = ‘Summon Fallen Deva’,
Mazzy = ‘Whirlwind’,
Valando = ‘Spike Trap’ because we don’t have a party Thief.
Nalia = ‘Summon Planetar’,
& Jaheira takes ‘Fire Elemental Transformation’ and ‘Whirlwind’... which officially makes her my best melee Fighter!
Cernd joined the party late and still has some catching up to do before he has to pick between melee and spells.

Valando dispatched both Ick and his dragon with ‘Spike Trap’s & Jaheira made easy work of the statues but the cats are a bugger so I assigned Cernd to anti-illusion duty whilst we mopped up the streets of Elf city... I’m stopping at hell because our hero has a big decision to make and it just doesn’t seem right to make him do that whilst his patriarch is pissed.
Buggs/ Issues:

SCS Demin still flatly refuses to defend herself against the three Raksasha and just stands there like a stunned mullet ... not game breaking I know but I find it annoying just the same.

One reason for installing "the secret of bonehill" when playing BG1. Even if you choose not to use some of the overpowerful weapons, it is nice to be able to find/buy all the scrolls you want, plus find a couple of tomes.
There's a staff that gives you true sight, plus a Tuigan's bow which IMO is too powerful for BG1. However I do like the quests too.

Sad to see so little activity here these days. I've been having some health issues lately -and my interests have lain elsewhere- but I may start a run sometime soon in the interest of getting things going here once again. In the meantime, if there is anyone out there who is interested in starting a run, know that I, at least, would be happy to see some action here (and I'm probably not the only one).
Best,
A.

Current lack of activity in our sacred threads saddens me as well. And I'm sure that you are definitely not the only one who would be happy to see the things change. At the moment I'm busy with thorough reconnaissance of the ToB part of my current Priest of Helm->Mage SCSII Ascension run (Gromnir and Yaga Sura are down, Watcher's Keep, Abazigal and Sendai are waiting for their turn) mixed with following the *Game of Thrones* intrigue, but I have my next char (Impish Face, gnomish illusionist/thief) at the ready in the Candlekeep Inn, Brother Gate just started his stalker called Rush and, I think, Grimwald the Wise is preparing something new for us so I hope that this lull in activity will end soon.

I will play on Insane, no reload with a paladin.
I will hack my stats, even if they are already extremely good with Shadowkeeper to make me able to benefit from the tomes of BG1 so I would add
+1 strenght
+1 dex
+1 con
+2 wis (the third book if I remember well is just for evil characters)
+1 charisma
the roll went extremely well, wanna see something?

Nice roll, SergioSafe travels and best of luck! Will this be a solo or party run?
Still undecided, if I must be sincere
I think a party run will satisfy better my needs, because I find it hard to believe that I will be able to end my run in one hit: I took a really long break from BG2 ( I think 3 years at least).
Also, if anyone needs to mod Baldur's gate 2 I have an already compiled BWS-Selection with the mod I think are the best of the best.
In fact, I have even a mod that rebalance the xp giving for the evil characters , so I won't be disadvantaged in the case I should play the kensai\\mage after my run won't go as expected (or will it?
Anyway, I have a few mods installed
Edit: I must admit also that I've chosen the knight kit, because the inquisitor kit got nerfed by SCSII , but I wonder if I did the right choice. Maybe undead hunter would have been a better choice?

I'll join any new challenge... what you got in mind?
Glad to see some enthusiasm!
I don't think beginning a new challenge is the best move at this point. As a matter of fact, I think the founding of a new challenge was in part what caused the current lull. When I started the SCS-Ascension thread, I was hoping it would attract new players to the forum (as the like challenge had in the past) but it also occurred to me that it might siphon people away from the No Reload Challenge instead- possibly causing us to fall below a critical mass of participants: The latter may have happened. The simultaneous sabbaticals of Corey and myself likely didn't help matters.
At present, I think we should focus on revitalizing this challenge rather than risking further dispersion of community interest. Getting a healthy cohort going in the BG1 thread may be the best way to do that. There's already some activity in the BG1 NR thread right now. If others join them, we might reach a critical mass and draw in new faces. Minimally, we'll at least have one healthy thread that would also provide a pool of potential entrants for this one. That could be a starting point for a mini-renaissance.
It's a simple suggestion: join and others may follow. But of course, some of us may feel the need for a spin of sorts on the standard challenge just to liven things up. For those people, I'll note that I'm considering role-playing a character based on my real life self: others might want to try something similar. Another thought I had was to have a group of us play the same randomized party: it might be interesting to see what different players do with the exact same quirky crew. The point is that while I do think we should concentrate our attention in this thread, people should feel free to dream up wrinkles that might motivate them to start: nothing beats Sergio's approach though- jumping in head first is the best thing people can do to revitalize the challenge right now.
Best,
A.

Anyway, here goes. Scale goes from 3-18, so 10.5 is average?
STR - 14
DEX - 14
CON - 14
INT - 14
WIS - 7
CHA - 7
Wow I rolled a 70. And no those aren't dump stats, it's a light dose of Aspergers and a heavy dose of ADD
Anyway, that explains why I don't much like clerics or paladins, although not my fascination with bards. Wisdom excludes me from rangers too, pity. So I'm left with fighter or thief, and not even enough stats to dual. Well I could be a mage too, but it seems a bit too delusional for real life.

I will try to make it like a first person diary. I just took some kind of "poetic" license for the dream while being caged by Irenicus (I hope you will understand of which place I'm talking about).
Also, I'm sorry for my poor English.
Day-one:
Pain.
This world whisper to my mind, for what this mage has done to me.
I've been enduring for days, but I wonder: what have I done to experience all this suffering?
I'm confused. When I was being tortured I've had strange dreams, of a few relatively small, circular platforms that floated in nothingness and four smaller platforms linked to a central one that contained a strange shadow. What does it mean?
And now that I was able to leave the mage's dungeon, I'm now alone, because my sister was taken by hooded wizards. Jaheira seems to be a bit off, and already taunted me saying that I've got no clue about what to do... She apologized but I know that she is right.
Minsc is always playing with his hamster, watching him gives me a bit of relief.
Right now I'm into the slums, where a thug called Bayle offered me help me on finding Imoen. But this help seems to cost a lot and I was pointed to go inside a pub called Copper Coronet to find money.
What will happen?
Inside the copper coronet, I dropped Minsc, killed amalas, and took anomen, then talked with Nalia , and let her point into my map to the place where his castle is.
Time to get Angelo, in the graveyard!
and here it is...
Sergio (I like to call my character as my name) wish to give a second chance to him, because from his words Angelo seems to be a trustworthy person, at least in these times of perils.. And in fact, as soon as Angelo joins the group, he turns in that he employed an assassin just for my paladin in the case I rejected his offer. How lovely
As soon as I took Angelo I moved down on the graveyard only to see Neber, a guy running away from his uncle, and asking for help. Help given
I also met a priest of Lathander asking for help for his orphan , and my paladin offered his help.

1) When you use your PrintScreen key the game automatically captures an image in the ScrnShot sub-folder in your main game folder.
2) I've not used imagebam, but in Photobucket there's an option for you to choose whether you want to link thumbnails or full size images - it may be there's something similar in imagebam. The code for linking images is a little bit simpler than you used in your post. Look at the following taken from your previous post (use quote and then press BBCode to see the text).
You could experiment by using this format to manually make a link to your pictures if you can't get one of the automatic links to work.
3) Just write what feels comfortable to you and have fun!

Anyway, is there a way to force the game to save images in .jpg?
