Interesting. We should put this on a web site somewhere.
Anyway, I think the character classes are  interesting and not quite what I'd expect.
The F/C, C/M and even the Sorcerer, I get. The Druid's a bit of a surprise, but they can be tough.
But an Inquisitor? I'd not expect a mele fighter in the list.
And I tried a F/M/C, so i appreciate the F/M/T. It's just about *impossible* to get experience fast enough to ever advance.

very interesting.
thanks for pulling it together, Alesia.

Thanks for the list :) Maybe we can put it in the opening post for the no-reload thread so it won't get lost or something like that.

Sorry for your loss, roo.

Titania, level 27 Great Druid
After entering the Underdark, Titania fought against Ilithids, some Elementals, lots of Drow with the help of powerful Summons and finally some Myklonids before entering the deep gnome village. There, Titania used a Deva buffed with Chaotic Commands and some energy blades to deal with a Balor. With the very same summons, Titania defeated two powerful Mages in the prison (with the fallen deva's iMoD instantly killing the Lich).

Now, Titania entered the Kua-Toa Cave, letting her summons fight some Beholders and finally, it was time to defeat the Demon Knights. Basically, it was just buffing a Deva with CC and letting her use Remove Fear, then summoning Energy Blades and start attacking the Knights (while making the druid immune to fire). Basically, that means the Demon Knights couldn't do anything against Titania.

Next, the Great Druid entered the Drow City with Adalons help, bought the Firetooth Dagger (forgot to equip him, though) and accepted Saulofein's task.
The group outside the city was actually not that easy. First, Titania tried Far Sight and Regular Summons, but the mage had a horrid withering or a death spell I forgot about. However, a Deva and Nature's Beauty brought the Great Druid in control again. All the Blind Enemies had no chance.

For the Mind Flayers, Titania summoned Zaman Ruul and Deva, buffed both of them with CC and used Energy Blades. A rather easy battle. Back in Ust'Natha, the Druid fought the two duels with her remaining spells before resting and going to fight the Beholder.

Well, she was buffed and prepared, but since it was only one beholder, decided to fight him herself.
Then, the Creature used its Anti-Magic Ray, Chaotic Commands was gone, and the next eyebeam was a charm spell, and because Titania has horrible saves, she got charmed, thus ending the challenge in a rather anticlimactic way, considering I could have just let the two Drow fight the Beholder on their own....

Anyway, that's it for Titania now. I had quite some fun, but since I've already played so many druids, I might try to solo another character at some time. Don't know what and when, yet, but we shall see. Good luck to all of you!

One careless moment in a fairly regular fight, I hate it when that happens. Condolences.

Does anyone have a website where we could put up the list of completed runs? Or might we be able to get a sticky post, lock it, and edit when a new entry is added? Thanks for putting in the effort of searching through the old threads!

Looks like players are having bad luck this week...

First (and last) update on Europa in ToB

Quests in Saradush were straightforward and completed without difficulty, I used one character with red dragon scale + ring of fire control to run errands because of the firebombs landing in the streets. The only slightly tricky encounters were the thieves in Kiser's house and Gromnir's palace as their backstabs can easily (and permanently) kill npcs on insane.

Continuing on to the forest of Mir we spy out a spooky looking temple with farsight and send some skeletons in first. This spares my druid from being surrounded by level draining critters after the cutscene and the temple guards fall quickly to MoD + some sunrays.

The fire giant temple was relatively easy with either Nikolai (Hardiness + Roranach's horn) or one of our priests (AoF + RH + flail) tanking the hammer wielding giants, and taking out the axe wielding giants asap. The group extinguishes Yaga-Shura's heart and returns to Saradush, YS flees and the party hides under mass invisibility to wait his return (thereby avoiding fighting his entire army), once the giant returns he is dispatched quickly with implosion + melee.

This seems like a good time to explore WK, 1st and 2nd levels are simple (at least once you discover the "trick" to each elemental room). The demon maze had me slightly worried, but I discovered a route through this place that avoids the 2nd (and worst) dead magic room:

-From the compass room we go East (obviously)
-From the first Dead Magic room East again, to meet Tahazzar. Spell protections (like spell turnng/spell immunity) can be precast in the compass room and are NOT removed by dead magic. Tahazzar is tanked by someone with ProMW (or mordy swords) because he kills characters permanently with his vorpal weapon.
-Collecting Tahazzar's gem we go back through the portal we came (to the 1st dead magic zone), then South, to the room with the succubi - helms of charm protection make this fight very easy - then south again to the room with Karashur.
-Strangely, Karashur decided to attack me (he doesn't usually, for neutral PCs), we weren't prepared for another demon fight and this lead to the fourth death for Europa's party when Nikolai got stunlocked and killed by a cornugon (sigh).
-From then on, follow the directions in Yakman's journal to the exit.

Also we forged Foebane, which swashbuckler Jariel uses for his mainhand weapon - this is probably questionable as he isn't proficient in bastard sword, but Foebane is to cool to not use.

WK level 4 is easy, from Lum's machine we get Storm Star and a boost to my party member's mediocre stats. Nikolai gets a new weapon, the axe of the unyielding.

The final level is tougher, as I knew it would be, I resisted the temptation to set any traps for the fight with the Huntress party (the shimmering disc is the ring of minor spell turning - I'm not using the cloak of mirroring as a matter of principle), getting the beholder out of the way quickly and interrupting the priestess from casting insect plague makes a big difference. Azamantes falls quickly to the runehammer. The hardest fight, oddly, was with the Rilmani as we weren't protected from cold (but how would my characters have known? few wizards use cold based magic). Collecting the extraordinary gauntlets, we finish WK the "peaceful" way by sealing Demogorgon back in.

After meeting with Balthazar we first explore Abazigal's enclave. For Draconis I spread my acid resistant gear among the party members (gorgon plate, Aeger's hide, helm of the rock etc.) plus Radeel casting prot from the elements. Europa and Karenina ran true sight whenever Draconis went invisible and we switched to normal weapons whenever he cast ProMW - Draconis fell without doing much damage. Abazigal himself was easier to defeat than his heir (who was a completely different species of dragon, what's with that?) though first we sneak around the edges of the cavern to dispatch his frost salamanders, as they get in the way during the fight. Next up is Sendai's enclave.

Unfortunately my PC managed to die while fighting Diathya's group, that said, my randomized party had proven to be strong and the game itself was fairly easy by that point. The real challenge - at which I failed - was keeping my weak PC alive.

Initially, the plan was to post the list in this thread once it was completed and then post it with updates each time a new thread is started.

I'm beginning to wonder whether threads are locked for length here though...

In any event, I'm definitely open to suggestions on presentation.

Thanks for putting in the effort of searching through the old threads!

As mentioned earlier, it was a team effort. Incantatar and Serg Blackstrider did most of the searching. They are the ones to thank.

Cheers,

A.

Btw. Serg Blackstrider expressed an interest in getting a team together to do the BG1 challenge. If anyone is interested in helping with that, PM me.

Btw II. I'll post the BG-II No Reloaders shortly.

I'm beginning to wonder whether threads are locked for length here though...

Actually, they aren't - there have been threads that were thousands of pages long in the ME2-forums, and hundreds of pages are fairly regular.

The only way to get them locked is usually a lot of off-topic spam, and we don't want to do that. Or maybe we could ask a nice and friendly mod to close the thread if we want it to be closed so we can make a new one some day.

Sorry to hear about Europa, polytype. When I read your post, and I was at the point where I saw that you managed to defeat Draconis, I was like: "Yes! He's going to make it!" (because I always saw him as the biggest obstacle in the whole series for my characters), and seconds later... Argh!
So the completely randomized no-reload challenge is still a prize yet to be claimed.. Well, both Sendai and Abazigal were defeated once with very different parties, so it should definetly be possible somehow, if one is careful enough.

Then we need a new presentation strategy.

Again, I'm open to suggestions.

A couple of people suggested a website. That could work. A few of us could also keep the link in our signatures so it's easy for newcomers to find.

In the alternative, we could setup a Bioware Blog exclusively devoted to the No Reload list. Again, we could put the link in signatures so it's easy to find.

We could use my Blog for now (I had no intention of using it for anything else). And if I disappear again, we can transfer the list over to someone else.

Alastria's Journal: Entry 20

Ok. Well...I'm still in Spellhold. And I'm still feeling miserable. Those are about the only things that haven't changed since I last wrote. I'm still trying to take it all in. It's kind of overwhelming.

It's been a long time since Gorion told me about the whole Bhaal thing. I've never really talked about it though- haven't even thought about it really. I've never wanted to be a god child. I've always wanted to be just me, Alastria, and to live my life as I choose. As for the taint...well, I've just wanted it to go away.

Be careful what you wish for right? Yeah. Irenicus took the taint from me. And as it turns out, my soul is linked to it: I can't live without it. So what are my choices? To just die or never truly be free. That's a total bummer. Total. I don't know what to do.

I'm also realizing how much of my personality has just been me running. Running from my divinity, running from my mortality: whatever. Just running from what's inside. It's kind of deep and all. I'm not sure how it's going to effect me. I'll just have to wait and see.

Anyhoo. I'm still not sure if I even want my soul back. But I'm way too P-O'ed right now to just lay down and die. Plus, I can't let Imoen down- not now. So I'll just have to press on? I mean, what else is there to do?

Yeah. Press on. That's gotta be my mantra now: press on. I don't like the sound of it either Tweedles, but that's where we're at: we've just gotta press on.

So yeah: here's the situation. Dearest Bodhi has just dumped Imoen and I into this psycho-labyrinth. It's like a game for her. We're supposed to run, and she's going to chase. I'm really not in the mood to play- and certainly not with her - but she said we may be able to catch Irenicus and, yeah, that does matter. 'Cause even if I don't want my soul back, he took Imoen's too and she definitely want hers. So it looks like I'm dancing for Bodhi again. Unfun.

The good news is that Imoen's here. And she's way better than she was the last time I saw her. She is a little freaked and all: she just found out she was a god child and then it was swiped from her like a piece of candy- it's a bit much. I think she'll be ok though. She's dazed, but she's still determined.

Imoen also said that she feels I'm a friend she can count on now, and that she's never felt that way before. I felt guilty and all when she said that since I spent so much time just futzing around Athkatla trying to make friends with Bodhi of all people. But I'm also proud that I finally came through for her and it's given me a sense of purpose. I really can't let her -or any of my true friends down- never again.

Imoen and I are still trying to figure out what to do. Imoen has always been the leader among us. But when I told her about the spells I use and how I fight and all, she was totally lost and wasn't sure how she could help. I guess that's another thing that's changed...

We're not certain yet, but it looks like we're going to handle this place just like Irenicus's Dungeon: she's going to sneak out in the Shadows and I'm going to fight my way through. And if I don't make it out, she''l mount a resuce with allies. I'm a lot more comfortable with the plan this time. And I'm pretty sure we'll meet up again in Athkatla. At least I think so...

Anyhoo. I've gotta get to work. It looks like the Tweeds and I have a labyrinth to solve.

Alastria's Journal: Entry 21

Well we did it. The Tweeds and I have made it out of the asylum. And we're shipping off to see Imoen this evening. I feel a lot better now. So long as I'm not sitting around stewing, it's all good.

The asylum wasn't too bad. It was kind of fun actually. There were these games with prizes- I totally didn't expect that! And even though I'm not super-stellar with puzzles and all, I won some cool stuff. I've got a new Ioun Stone and a pair of Skitty rings. Good stuff. Plus, I learned an amazing spell that lets me buff super-fast and also picked up a bunch of new forms. Skiddly-Diddly!

There were some baddies of course. But it was nothing the Tweeds and I couldn't handle.

First we ran into these Yuan-Ti. There were like 6 of them including a mage. But I totally have those sits covered now. I buffed up with Stoneskins, Spell Shield, Spell Turning, Shield, Non-Detection, Blur, Mirror Image, Protection from Evil, Polymorph Self, Globe of Invulnerability, Protection from Energy, Shadow Door, Spell Immunity:Enchantment, Spell Immunity:Divination, and Spell Immunity:Abjuration. The, I flipped in to Spider form, layered on my Strength Minor Sequencer and pulled my Improved Haste, Tenser's, Phantom Blade Trigger. That made me a Spider with 8 Apr, a +3 weapon, a negative THACO, an AC in the negative teens, negative saving thows, and solid spell defenses. They couldn't handle me- though I did take a few nicks from the Mages Fireshield: Blue. It's a shame GoI doesn't stop that, but whatever.

Anyhoo. After the snakies, there was a Lich and a bunch of other undead thingies. I was scared at first since I've
only read about Liches and all, but it was fine.

I buffed the same way I did with the Snaky-Snakes, but this time I stayed in human form for a while and used my
Teleport Field Sequencer along with Meteors to take care of the melee guys. I totally didn't want to get near those Greater Mummies: they can Curse! So I figured I'd just pop them with Meteors.

It worked. But I only had to ice one Greater Mummy with Meteors. All the others were dumped behind a locked door by the Telefield, so I was able to just knock them off later. Alterations spells rock.

The Lich was easy pickin's once the Great Mummies were gone, I went Jelly, Breached him with a scroll, and then killed him all Tensered up with my Phantom Blade. I guess Liches aren't that spooky after all huh Tweedles?

Yeah. So then I had to get a crystal and a hand. Sort of gross and all. Well, not the crystal: I like those. But the Hand! Eww! And it wasn't just a normal hand- it was a groddy vampire hand. Totally nasty, but I needed it to get out. So I got it.

Right. Well, when I was trying to drop the hand off, these Yuan-Ti attacked me. There were 3 Mages this time, but the fight was basically the same as the first. I did have to rebuff and use my Jelly though this time. Aside from that,
same-same.

Soon after that I had to go through this sanity test. It was ridiculous! I'm totally sane but the questions were still really hard. Terrible test. Anyhoo, I passed and I was free. Ok. Not totally free. I still had one foe to fight: Irenicus. Yup: Irenicus!

I was kind of panicky at first. But Saemon had a really good idea that made me more confident and I also realized that, well, he's just a Mage. And mages have serious issues with me when I'm all buffed up and shifted, so I figured it wouldn't be that bad. At least that's what i told myself.

Well it turned out I was right: I had no reason to fear him. It was a pretty standard battle- except that I had to buff during the fight. I also got to use one of my super-cool new forms: Iron Golem.

As soon as Irenicus attacked, I used my Air Control Ring to disappear while wearing the Cloak of Non-Detection. Aphril or somebody dispeled my invisibility, but I cast my favorite new spell, Improved Alacrity, and got all buffed up. Like before, I picked Stoneskins, Spell Shield, Spell Turning, Shield, Non-Detection, Blur, Mirror Image, Protection from Evil,Globe of Invulnerability, Protection from Energy, Shadow Door, Spell Immunity:Enchantment, Spell Immunity:Divination, and Spell Immunity:Abjuration. There was one difference this time though: I used Shapechaged instead of Polymorph Self.

Ok. After I got all buffed, guess who I had to kill? Me. It was pretty weird. Irenicus somehow summoned this copy of me. But the copy didn't know how to Polymorph or use it's buffs. It just stood around casting Spook and tossing sling bullets. So, I just killed myself with Meteors. I hope I never have to do that again!

Next it was time for Irenicus. I killed him in Iron Golem form though most of the damage was caused by my
Wand of Frost. He never really touched me. Take that Jon, Jon! Who is the supreme sorcerer now huh?

Yeah. It felt good to put the beats on Jon and escape the asylum. I can't wait to tell Imoen about it. Oooh!
That reminds me: I have a horn to steal.

BlackStrider Half-Elf Conjurer just finished successful BG1-ToSC no-reload run and advanced to SoA. He finished almost all possible BG1-ToSC tasks so his starting exp is quite high:

Edit.

Alastria's been using it to refresh her lower level spells and take a Minor Globe of Invulnerability when needed. It's also nice to know she can cure Poison, Disease, and Blindness though she hasn't had to use that yet.

Additionally, it's nice to be able to take a Time Stop through Level 7 in a tough spot. She may use the extra Shapechange at some point as well.

Then there are the Bunnies of course- though I doubt SCS enemies will fall for that trick. They can still be a nuisance since melee fighters have trouble getting around them- especially if they are Greased or, perhaps Webbed...

Hmm. Now that's interesting. If the SCS melee fighters won't attack the Bunnies, then what will they do if they are Webbed all around her...

Edit. I just ran a test with a spawned Mencar. He's a Bunny hunter. I'm guessing many of the others will be too.

Yes, I think many SCS scripts are not designed to ignore weak summons, so the bunnies are still powerful.

There are situations where you run out of L6 slots and need to burn a L7 to get MGoI?  Hurm.

You might look for a place to use that Wail, also.  Trying to think of a place where you get mobbed by a huge crowd.

I'm still holding out hopes that you might find room for Sphere of Chaos with your 4th L7 pick, but will it need to be Ruby Ray instead?

Not in a single battle after a full rest of course- not at this stage of the game at least.

If she's been encountering groups of Melee enemies, then Levels 1, 2, 4 and 6 are the ones that get tapped whereas 7 isn't used much. It's convenient that 7 can fill in for 1-4 and 6.

Yup. The Wail is the least likely to get used of the 4 (TS, SC, CC, WoB). But yes, it will be used if the situation demands.

It'll probably be Ruby Ray. But that decision hasn't been finalized

Choosing between Limited Wish and Sphere of Chaos was somewhat difficult. However, when forced to choose between a save or else spell that is effective against lesser enemies, and a spell that can reliably make a difference in a tight spot, I prefer the latter-especailly in No Reload play. Also, since Transmuter Alastria used Limited Wish frequently in her Tactics (parts)+Ascension solo (MGOI throughout, Bunnies against Improved Illasera and Melissan's Demons) it's a spell I associate with the character. And for that reason Sphere of Chaos wasn't obviously preferable on Role Playing grounds- despite her affinity for Alteration spells.

I do still want Sphere of Chaos though. We'll see.

Best,

A.

I lurk and read, just noting that you were looking for a place to put a list of completed runs. Someone could start a group. Then the group could just be linked in the first post.

Btw. Who else is still active at this point?

Alastria, Dragonslayer, Forlorn, Ruelov, and Shadow's F/M? Is that the complete list?

I'm still active but with no F/M actually. After a few days of no BG2, and thinking hard(I think?) I've returned back to Tessa Tanglefield, or Tessa the cat if one must. She will solo. I wish to test her seeking sword in mage form if I can get there and not die to flesh to stone or erm...acid traps.

p.s I probably should quit announcing my proposed plans as I don't seem to be following through. Ah well.

Athos - Barbarian 15
Valygar - Stalker 14
Imoen - Thief 7, Mage 14

Irenicus showed up and stole Athos' divine essence, afterwards, he and Valygar were thrown into the maze by Bodhi, where they met Imoen. Apparently she had studied well during her time in Spellhold, as her skills were quite a bit more advanced than they used to be. Athos gave Imoen her presents, then they sat down to catch up on what had happened to each of them. This proved to be quite a fruitful experience (scribing scrolls... ^_^) and each of them learned some more tricks for the future. Bottom line: Thanks to scrolls, 200k XP each!
Imoen can cast one 7th level spell now, unfortunately, she doesn't know Project Image yet. She does have Mordy's sword, PW Stun, and Sequencer, among others, so there are some nice options anyway.
A few riddles are solved, some enemies slain, nothing of particular note. Thanks to the shield of harmony, umber hulks are pretty easy. For Yuan-Ti groups, Valygar goes in to backstab the mage to death, the remaining melee fighters are a pushover. Athos' level 15 gave him another -1 to all saves (except death, which is at -3 already), the fairly important save vs spells is at 1 now. Also, they found a Project Image scroll, unfortunately, Imoen's INT potions had already expired. Anyway, she'll scribe it before their next rest.
I was a bit worried before attempting to summon the creatures from the book (for whatever the randomizer put in place of the ring of free action), Athos has never faced a mind flayer or a beholder before. Before summoning the mind flayer, Athos raged and Valygar hid to backstab, wielding the shield of harmony for protection. This worked like a charm, two hits from Athos, a backstab, and the mind flayer went down. The beholder was quickly dealt with in the same way, with both of them practically immune to the non-damage rays, and their high HP, it proved to be no danger. The reward, along with two less important mage scrolls, was a scroll of protection from magic!

The next tricky thing were the 3 paintings on the next level, in particular the one that casts disintegrate. I had Athos rage for an additional -2 saves vs spell (now at -1), equipped the amulet of form stability (in case it goes vs petrification) and, for good measure, used minor spell turning from the ring. This way, his save vs wands is at 1, all others at -1 or below (eat me, Berserkers - Barbarian rage rocks!). Since disintegrate doesn't give a save penalty, I figured he should be safe. There's no automatic failure on a 1, or is there?!?
Fingers crossed, clicked on the painting: Save vs spell - 8. Excellent. I was quite sure I was safe, but it's hard to be 100% certain. Valygar with his 100% fire resistance went to get the other two; I was a little surprised that the one I thought was Cloudkill does in fact fire damage, but I'm not complaining. :)
Fighting the mind flayer behind the painting, I noticed that the shield of harmony does not, in fact, protect from psionic stun. So Valygar was out, but an enraged Athos was enough to take care of the battle. Does anyone know if psionic stun has a save penalty? Does barbarian rage protect against it? In other news, I found a second Malakar at the troll, seems to be a bug with the randomizer. I'm still on v4 though, so it's quite possibly fixed by now. In other randomized news, we found Ilbratha (the mirror image sword), might come in handy once in a while. In the room with the clay golems we found the Crimson Chain, an AC 0 chain mail for Athos! :D
The group cleans out the dungeon and exits, passing the tests posed by the apparitions. A few more random items were found, but none of particular note. Irenicus awaits...
