Alphabet Challenge: final update
Ego and Alter did a fair amount more in Chapter 3, including Umar Hills to add a second dragon scalp to their collection.
As a start to a crusade against liches they killed the City Gates lich and Ego then had the bright idea of using the rod of terror to provide himself with the 25 charisma expected of someone aspiring to godhood. It didn't take long to get the 4 reductions in charisma that would wrap his score round from 3 to 25. He then took off the ring of human influence - and died.
I was pretty sure I hadn't miscounted, but checked with an autosave to confirm that this wrap-around no longer happens - I don't know what bit of my installation has 'fixed' that.

Search the page for "rod of terror" and you will see they stopped the exploit.

While we thought this was an easy session a review of our photo album proved otherwise.
Watchers Keep was briefly visited to grab a potion container and ammo belt. Then back to the promenade for a Ring of Air Control - dealing with Hareishan on the way. Suna Seni and a group of orog slavers also made their appearances.
Aran Linvail pointed us in the direction of Mook. Lassal ignored Twinkletoe and drained Ether. After a bit of blocking he switched to Twinkletoe and was quickly scared off, then we purchased a few scrolls of lesser restoration.
Renfeld was rescued and returned, while we promised to help Xzar and clear a house of Prebek that can wait for another day. Instead we help Nalia and run into our closest call to date before encountering Glaicas then obtaining the Flail of Ages +3 and a stronghold on the way. Ether glugged a potion and ran around a horde of spiders to burn them all with a pseudo Agannazars Schorcher.
A city gate lich turned nasty and almost caught Ether out so we headed to Trademeet and then on to a druid grove where Ether managed to get stunned but remained safe while Twinkletoe tidied up. The mantle of Waukeen was returned to the mayor in an effort to end a feud.
At some point a trio of Dao djinn were convinced to leave before we fought off muggers in the city and Ether used a Daystar Sunray on a trio of vampires (Parisa maybe). There was no sign of further trouble in Trademeet and we eventually realised we had to investigate the skinner murders in the Bridge district. Twinkletoe was happy to do this but Ether found one of the Rune Assassins hard work and had to shake them off the hard way (running through two exits). Another trip to Trademeet sees us asked for a final favour so that is our next task.
Stats (including BG1):
Twinkletoe, barbarian. 352 468 kills (+116), lich.
Ether, monk. 218 kills (+69), Vampire.

They consist of a Holy Strategist of the Red Knight, A Painbearer of Ilmater, a Battleguard of Tempus and a Morninglord of Lathander.
All are Arctic Dwarves as per the sub-race mod.
ToSC was done with no other party members, but that will change in Amn as I like the interchange between NPCs.
Having four party members, it means that there are only two slots for NPCs. That means that one slot will be for getting new quests, and the other will be a mage/thief combo, probably Nalia.
Full details later..

A rage is enough to defeat two spore colonies then I observe Cernd kill Faldorn with three mighty blows, the last a chunky critical. I return to Trademeet to pick up a reward that pays for some shopping (inertial belt and cloak of displacement). I finally catch up with Rejiek Hidesman and Darsidian Moor then return the mantle of Waukeen to the mayor before leaving. The de’Arnise keep is ticking over nicely so return to Umar Hills. I deal with a killer mimic and locate an abandoned temple - but decide I should head back to the city first.
I am buffed to deal with Pai'Na but run in slightly the wrong direction. By the time I realise and try to reach her I am blocked by a spider. I kill it but a second blocks me then a third and fourth. An Arbane haste sees me reach Pai'Na as she summons a fire elemental and I hit her twice before her next spell succeeds. Harm - and I am down to 1hp with spiders and an elemental surrounding me. I glug an extra healer but take two hits so look in my potion case for a superior healer. Before I can glug it a third hit catches me and I sink to the ground.
(caught by a harm, been a while since that's happened and never by Pai'Na; mis-click was an expensive mistake. Oh well, back to the start when I work out what next).

Rayic Gethas timed his horror to coincide with a rage expiry, but Ether compensated by calling up a genie and Kitthix as Twinkletoe is stunned. The stun expires first, then Rayic and finally the horror.

With Mae'var dead we move on to a ruhk transmuter and sea troll in the sewers then deal with Anarg. It is a tough battle and Tanova takes advantage of our battered state to test our allegiance with the shadow thieves. Twinkletoe fails to rage and is dominated (hindsight, could have equipped the shield of harmony) leaving Ether under attack on 4 fronts. He tries to use a Daystar Sunray but two hits are more than he can take.

(so back to the start, will be a sorcerer and companion)

Grond0/Gate70 Multiplayer attempt 14 (Update 1)
Stari the sorceror (Grond0) / Maldor the undead hunter (Gate70)
Less than a day after our unlucky 13th attempt Amn is under siege again from the latest duo. After progressing through BG1 there was just a short initial session in BG2. That saw them through the dungeon without any real alarms and ready for a nice day out at the circus.
Maldor normally dual-wields long swords, though he has yet to pick up something to match Varscona (his primary weapon in BG1). Stari has done most of her work with MM / MMM for damage and invisibility and blind for tactical use. Quite a few of her available spells (chill touch, spook, blur, skull trap and remove magic) have not been used at all as yet, but should get a chance to prove their worth during BG2.
Stats (continued from BG1)
Stari, sorceror 9, 36 HPs, 174 kills.
Maldor, undead hunter 8, 93 HPs, 292 kills, 2 deaths.
Maldor has a considerable lead in kills from BG1, although use of MMM on goblins allowed Stari to pull it back a bit during the dungeon.
Stari's spells (in order of taking at each level)
L1 - magic missile, blind, shield, spook, chill touch
L2 - invisibility, web, mirror image, blur
L3 - MMM, skull trap, remove magic
L4 - stoneskin, spirit armour

Hi all. I'm still in Egypt and not really playing these days, but there have been a few times when I've flirted with the idea of continuing my Sorceress Alicia's run in the evenings before going to sleep. Now sitting in a cafe waiting for a bus, I thought I'd bring Alicia's posts up to date with her progress just to make things easier if and when I do decide to take her further.
In Alicia's last post, I covered the De'Arnise Keep. After that she completed Mae'Var's Guild Hall, the Windspear Hills, the Planar Sphere, the Unseeing Eye, and the Planar Prison in that order. I've somehow lost the screenshots from the Mae'Var Quest -and I scarcely remember it- so I'll pick up here with the Windspear Hills.
Windspear Hills
The quest of course begins with the paladin ambush. This is a trivial battle, but I thought I'd quickly comment on it since it illustrates Alicia's approach against straight melee groups. Basically, she erects minimal combat buffs, fires up a Telefield and then relies on AoE spells and MMMs for offense. Sunfires and Skull Traps do most of the damage. And if she decides to take her GoI -while also having a L4 or two left over- Ice Storms can contribute as well. Removes take care of troublesome potion buffs.

Side Note: Some may have noticed the absence of traditional disablers in Alicia's book. Teleport Field is her disabler and it of course has the merit of ignoring MR and not offering a save. Most disablers become less effective as enemies become more powerful. Teleport Field is the exception because of the above properties.
Alicia chose her battles carefully in The Pleasure Palace- only fighting those where the risk reward seemed favorable.
After skipping Ruhk, she took down a golem and then -when a Golem Slow made conditions less favorable- happily cast Invisibility and moved on.

The Ancient and Elder Vamps were taken down under ProUndead. The damage occured when I (embarrasingly) neglected to cast GoI before Ice Storm. That was the only damage Alicia took during the quest.

Magic Resistance and regeneration made the Greater Wolfweres troublesome. A Skull Trap sequencer took down one or perhaps 2.
Alicia just moved on invisible after that.

Still without LR -and still with Increased Staying Power for dragons installed, Alicia forewent the battle with Firkraag and merely took on Conster. Justice will come with LR.
Conster didn't put up much of a fight- nor could he be expected to. Scripted to face parties, buffs and damage spells crowd out the Abjuration school de-buffers he'd need to contend with a Sorceress like Alicia. In my SCS install, Spell Trust and Ruby Ray target through II but the others don't. Running SI:A, SI:D, and II therefore contrains enemey debuffing uptions to RR and ST. If those are tried, Alicia catches those with her Spell Shield. At some later date, she'll encounter enemies that can Breach through II. With the consistent Breach component installed, Spell Shield won't stop that but her Spell Deflection and or Spell Trap will.
Predictablly, Conster tossed a RR that was caught by Alicia's Spell Shield. If left uncountered, Conster's opening RR would have left Alicia vulnerable to a follow up II bypassing Abjuration cast. Alicia countered, however, by refreshing her Spell Shield and that essentially ended the threat. Buffed and safe from de-buffs, Alicia then went on the offensive- taking down Conster's GoI with RR...
...and following up with a Skull Trap sequencer.

End of quest. I'll post on the Planar Sphere next.
Best,
A.

The most interesting battle in the Planar Sphere was the opening encounter with the feral halflings. This was interesting mostly due to a mistake on my part. In general, Alicia loads he squencer with either Skull Trap x3 or Ice Storm x3. Having loaded the sequencer long ago, I wasn't quite sure which spells were in it. It turned out to be Ice Storm which wasn't an ideal opener in this case: the time lagged damage was foiled by buffs.

Kayardi Mogadish survived and that, in SCS, means demons- demons that Alicia still lacks the spells to fight.

Movement and invisibility seperated the Demons and their summoner in time. Patience solved the demon threat ultimately though not before a lightning bolt did some damage and forced a Potion of Absoption quaff.

Once the demons were out of the way, Mogadish was shut down with an invisibility breaking MAA...

...and then finished with MMMs.

By this point, Kayardi had outlasted SI:A. And with L5 previously invested in Sunfires, Alicia was tagged with Remove.

With Kayardi now enjoying the buff advantage -and Alicia vulnerable to debuffs- Invisibility and patience seemed the wisest choice.

After GoI ran out, Kayardi went with II. Alicia targetted the door with a Skull Trap Sequencer...

...and then broke Invisibility with a knockout- shielding her and her now depleted book from Abjuration magicks.

The next halfling crew caught the Skull Trap x3 Sequencer. That worked better, unsurprisingly.

Necre survived, but then found that she -like Conster- lacked the Abjuration school heft to pose a threat.

Lavok did a touch of damage with a Time Stop Wilting. But with the BoIB equipped and negative saves, this wasn't an issue. Alicia's second L8 will take care of the Wilting threat in subsequent battles. In this case, Lavok would never have the chance to follow up. Note Alicia's RR landing as Lavok's Wilting passes.

Skull Trap sequencer next round.

Next the Demon. Now with LR, theTanarii hunt was pretty straightforward.

Fin!

A.

The Unseeing Eye quest was super-uneventful. Above all else, it was a testament to how cautious I've been with Alicia while building her spellbook.
Tarnor's crew lost it's Aburation school threat to an opening Sunfire Trigger...

... and made zero progress against the buffed Alicia: She just stayed indoors while they braved the storm.

The Unseeing Eye was one rounded. Mr. Efreeti made an apperance here to permit 2 spell equivalent actions in a round.

Gaal and friends didn't have a competent debuffer with them: Their fate was the same as Tarnor's.

One more quest and we're up to date.
Best,
A.
EDIT: I've just run out of time. I'll post on the Planar Sphere later on- maybe tomorrow.
Best of luck everyone!

Stari the sorceror (Grond0) / Maldor the undead hunter (Gate70)
Some further progress today for this dynamic duo.
After the circus the first port of call was the Copper Coronet, followed up by closing down slaver HQ. At the point Maldor begged Stari to buy a license from the Cowled Wizards and she reluctantly agreed (having already been given a warning about her conduct).
A side trip to Watcher's Keep saw Maldor fend off a couple of challenges. The first was the pair of vampiric wraiths - his undead hunter drain immunity coming in handy there. Then a finger of death trap was saved against thanks to his protection from evil spell.
On to De'Arnise Hold to deal with a troll infestation. That was pretty straightforward. Unlike our last run Moldar decided not to soak up multiple lightning bounces on the way to confront Glaicas. Instead he managed somehow to direct the lightning into the room to make a start on the wayward warrior!
Back in the city the treasure from the trip was handed over to Gaelen in return for a nice ring and amulet (for a change one of our characters can make use of it this time).
Some tooing and froing resulted in several more bits and pieces finished off - Mook, Pai'Na (for the green ioun stone), sewer rakshasa (for his cloak so that Moldar can heal damage rather more easily) and Rayic Gethras. The remaining Mae'Var quests have also been completed in preparation for storming the stronghold next time. The last action of the session was an assault on Prebek's house. Moldar was a bit impetuous here - storming in to the attack on his own. However, his newly acquired flail of ages allowed him to bypass stoneskin protections and Stari's late entry to help was not really needed.
Stats (continued from BG1)
Stari, sorceror 11, 57 HPs (including 17 from familiar and ioun stone), 287 kills.
Maldor, undead hunter 8, 120 HPs (including 15 from bracers and helm), 398 kills, 2 deaths.
Stari fractionally edged the kills in that session thanks to skulltrapping spiders in Pai'Na's lair, but Maldor still has a big lead.

There are probably some minor bugs as I don't use all the NPCs every time.
However the only major problem that I have had has been imorting characters using the sub-race mod.
Since that mod was not designed for use in BG1, I was not surprised that I found that I had to use Shadowkeeper to make some corrections. I have completed the game using this setup however, the first and only time that I have done so! I have completed SoA on a number of occasions, but like the uncertainty of not knowing what will happen next. I certainly don't!!!!!!
If this works OK again, I will probably add SCS 2 to that list.

@Grond0 - I can answer that, maybe. ToBex fixes the exploit, you got that?
Search the page for "rod of terror" and you will see they stopped the exploit.
Your answer furnished by Google! : )
Since I regularly have a Cha of 2 or less, I'm glad that I haven't got ToBex installed. One of the few mods that I haven't got!!
I also like to give the ring away as per unfinished business.

Less than a day after our unlucky 13th attempt Amn is under siege again from the latest duo. After progressing through BG1 there was just a short initial session in BG2. That saw them through the dungeon without any real alarms and ready for a nice day out at the circus.

BG1 is 3 fails and 11 successes. Grond0 may have kept time better than me but I think we were something like 7-9 hours.silenceall wrote...

BG2 is another matter, 1 out of those 11 succeeding. It is less forgiving of our mistakes and lack of preparation.

Stari the sorceror (Grond0) / Maldor the undead hunter (Gate70)
A short session saw some untroubled progress.
With Prebek killed last time the first thing done was looting the Harper HQ and watching Xzar die. Then we reported in to Renal and returned to Mae'Var's guild to deal with the renegade thieves.
On to the Bridge District for Maldor to retrieve the berserker horn, while Stari twiddled his fingers waiting for him to find his way out of a maze (Stari could have used spell immunity to avoid the wait, but was too slow off the mark). Then they solved the skinner quest. The rune assassins managed one backstab on Maldor, but with improved haste operating for the first time they didn't last long enough to cause real difficulty.
Finally a kidnap victim was discovered and the duo are currently waiting for the cover of darkness before extorting a ransom.
Stats (continued from BG1)
Stari, sorceror 12, 58 HPs (including 17 from familiar and ioun stone), 302 kills.
Maldor, undead hunter 10, 118 HPs (including 10 from bracers), 426 kills, 2 deaths.

We managed the dungeon with ease.
Sold the gear we couldn't use at the Adventurer's Mart.
Bought a good mace and staff.
Now poor again!
Went into the circus and helped out.
Forgot to speak to the mother.
Went back in. Illusion had returned. Couldn't get back out again!
Clearly a bug. So had no compunction about re-loading.
Went to the slum district.
Was ambushed as per usual by some thieves.
Fought the battle on autopilot.
Suddenly realiseed that the PC was nearly dead.
I'd somehow switched to slings without realising it!
Ran away, used a potion and finished them off.
Most embarassing!
Went inside the inn and fought in the pit.
Won with ease.
Joined up with Nalia.

Stari the sorceror (Grond0) / Maldor the undead hunter (Gate70)
A small amount of further progress last night saw the ransom duly picked up. Part of the reputation loss was recovered by turning in Neb's head as a bonus feature while doing the Sir Sarles quest. A couple of further tasks for Aran Linvail convinced him we were ready to take on some vampires, so that will be the next thing to do.
Stats (continued from BG1)
Stari, sorceror 12, 58 HPs (including 17 from familiar and ioun stone), 310 kills.
Maldor, undead hunter 10, 118 HPs (including 10 from bracers), 437 kills, 2 deaths.

Stari the sorceror (Grond0) / Maldor the undead hunter (Gate70)
A bad day at the office for me as Stari drags Maldor down with her. The duo had taught the Fallen Paladins not to mess with the real thing and moved on to vampire HQ. Maldor quickly disposed of the initial forces in order to recover the mace of disruption.
At this point in our games Tanova is typically left alone, but Stari felt confident she could buff up sufficiently to foil her. I was expecting a remove magic - which would have bounced off spell immunity - and didn't notice that Tanova had sneaked in a true sight among her starting buffs. As a result Stari's saving throw no longer gave her automatic success against a symbol stun and she decided to sit out the rest of the contest.

Maldor managed to kill the fledgling vampire, but 2 chain lightnings from Tanova and a skull trap from the simmy proved too much for Stari to handle.
