After graduating from BG1 Pris has begun her adventures in Amn. Despite my best efforts Pris has been unable to match the expertise of my recent multi-player characters at dying, so has earned a progress report.
She didn't have much trouble in the dungeon. The Horn of Kazgoroth provided protection against mephits for the low cost of 10 HP and she rested regularly to ensure she was never low on hits - though the Cambion provided a reminder of the need for some critical protection. A couple of kai hits disposed successfully of Ulvaryl. I also noted in that encounter that the sword of chaos additional HP damage sometimes takes effect even when the blow hits a mirror image. That makes it a potentially useful weapon to use against mirrored mages, although the effect does not seem to be consistent.
After restoring the circus to full operation Pris went to the Slums. There she ensured Cohrvale & Bregg would not insult any more travellers and watched Hareishan feed on some thieves. Inside the Copper Coronet she indulged in a cage fight with Amalas before deciding that the tavern would be more salubrious after a change in management. That was soon done and Pris bought the Blade of Roses, Azuredge and Stonefire.
The Horn of Kazgoroth provided protection against the hobgoblin shamen in the sewers, but not against a couple of criticals added to the damage by the Horn itself! I decided not to allow Pris to take the nearby exit back into the Copper Coronet, so she had to run the gauntlet the other way. I think there were two shots that missed her, while she was done at 8 HPs, before she got to safety and was able to rest successfully (I'm again not allowing her any healing or antidote potions in this run). After recovering Lilarcor Pris retraced her steps to pick some fungi for dinner. She left the slavers for the moment until she is better equipped.
Travelling to the graveyard she triggered the Suna Seni ambush, but was already invisible courtesy of the RoAC and some fiery breath made a mess of the attackers. Pris also relied heavily on the RoAC for protection while clearing the tombs. Below ground, she dealt with some pesky spiders and fumigated their nest (Pai'Na not enjoying the kai critical). The spiders were potentially risky without the availability of antidote potions (use of the Claw meant her save vs death was only 5 after II wore off), but she had used a potion of speed and the combination of high movement and weapon speed meant that only 1 spider actually got an attack in (and that missed).
With the green ioun stone safely equipped she made good use of the remainder of the speed potion in the Southern tombs. Lilarcor protected against the dying vampyre's domination attempt.
Deciding at this point to give her a bit more of a chance at an extended run I opened up the Unseeing Eye, as the first step in a lich challenge. On the way to the City Gates Pris saved Renfeld and dropped him off at Harper HQ before going back to the Gates to pay a visit to the lich there. A potion of storm giant strength opened the door and a protection from undead scroll opened the way to acquire Daystar. On to the Bridge District, then the temple sewers to pick up lich parts before coming back to the Docks for Kangaxx. As usual his demi-lich form tried running for it, but Pris ran him down using Daystar.
Here is her current inventory. The potion congestion means that the next port of call is likely to be Watcher's Keep.
Her current character record shows that she has already visited the temple to get rid of the draining caused by knocking lich doors down. However, she still needs to rest to get rid of the conseqent fatigue.
Stats (kills include BG1)
Pris, kensai L11, 93 HPs (incl. 8 from ioun stone; -18 from Claw), 535 kills

Russell II defeated Sarevok with his MP band and the band continues into BG 2. I made a technical error starting my game though, as I accidentally started single player and imported but then am missing rest of my band. So I started MP like I was supposed to and imported the band, made a save in single player and contined my run. If people think this should invalidate my run let me know and will restart from Candlekeep.
In any case, the band makes it through the first level - 2/3 the party has magic weapons they are skilled with so that is good. 1/2 of the party had fight much of the dungeon naked, but at the end of the first level everyone has at least chain mail.

Pris eventually kicked the bucket at the de'Arnise Hold. She'd had no trouble in getting down to Torgal and I didn't really expect any trouble with him. Pris had DUHM and Gaxx haste (for 5 attacks a round with Lilarcor) active, though no defensive buffs, and I thought she would put him down pretty quickly. However, she rolled two critical misses in her first 3 attacks and it looked like she would then be the one to fall first. Turning to run I didn't notice she had been strength drained and was encumbered, leading to a further hit. However, she dropped some armour and I thought she had a safe lead as she approached the basement stairs - but Torgal's long arm reached out and hamstrung her.

FYI: When fighting VTorgal, I used to always keep extra Oils of Speed and Potions of Strength around to counter slow and attribute drain. With a solo Kensai, I'd be inclined to take him down with a throwing axe under Oil of Speed or, in the alternative, hit and run tactics with a range 2 speed factor 0 weapon (again under Oil of Speed).

The Story of BlackStrider & The Motley Crue (Update #13 - De'Arnise Hold):
With our new equipment from Trademeet the liberation of Nalia's Keep wasn't that hard - just straight out melee/ranged fire. I was quite impressed with Dwarven Thrower's damage output (never used it before). Yuan-ti mage fled from Pot's Cloudkill onto the roof but that doesn't saved his hide. Torgal himself was separated from his buddies (not very sporty I think but less *cheesy* than Cloudkill out of visible range at least). Nalia rewarded us with enormous sum of 650 gold and again with a heavy heart (as with Jaheira before) I sent her on her own... (It is hard to decline your trusted companions who followed you in so many runs... To death and beyond...

I think that Umar Hills will be our next destination.
Current state:
BlackStrider: Blade(12), 45 kills (Spirit Troll);
Alesia The Curious: Mage(10)/Thief(11), 11 kills (Khan Zahraa);
Grond The Pathfinder: Archer(9), 53 kills (Mencar Pebblecrusher);
Cassia The Furious: Shapeshifter(12), 81 kills (Cohrvale);
Krimlor: Fighter(9)/Cleric(9), 33 kills (Iron Golem);
Pot The Selfless: Mage(11), 30 kills (Sorcerous Amon).
to be continued...

Sorry to hear about TorGal Grond0.
Serg, I get your reluctance to drop NPC's. I lost count of the times I decided to do solo runs to improve my game but then kept Imoen and that then meant I might as well have a full party.
The jester is looking deadly Alesia. I was going to use a Skald in our next multiplayer run but decided to try the in-game NPC route for once.

Thanks Gate70! The method you are suggesting? That WAS what we tried the first time. I know now though, that dragons can't be hurt by non-magical ammo, they are immune, and that includes throwing axes that are magical apparently. So I will keep this problem in mind. Also I think Mekrath has an item that Alesia doesn't like that I think can make us succeed where the first group failed. We are also a full team, so the extra body can make a difference too. This party is much stronger in the STR stat, so it may deal more damage too.

Thanks. Deadly is a fitting word for her. She's no Blade, but she's not joke either.
While she is a very capable character, she is buff dependent and does have her vulnerabilities. She needs to be played with care.

Areas battled: Circus, Viconia's Fanatics, Suna Sune, Umar Hills Temple
Russell II and team made it out of Chateau Irenicus and considered their next move. Russell II decided not to purchase armor just yet, as he figures he would get lots of armor just doing their adventures. So he decided that everyone needed to be able to deal damage to creatures immune to normal weapons, so purchased magical ammo for Forrest, Russell II and Paja.
The team heard about a circus problem and decided to investigate. Protection from Evil x6 and True Sight were more than enough to take care of Kalah and his minions, and the team got some cash and a ring of human influence for Russell II. Hanna already has a natural CHA of 18, so she doesn't need it even though she is the one that usually talks to people.
Russell II decided to splurge on a +2 medium shield for Hanna, putting her AC to -5 and the team has to go to the Slums. Galen says he can help us rescue Imoen for us - guess rescuing her is the least we can do since she did free us from our captivity in Irenicus dungeon - we need 20,000 gold, but don't have that.
Next stop was the government district. We met a drow being unjustly accused, protection from evil x6 was enough to carry the day and the battle. One of the enemies had a plate mail, that is an upgrade. We sent Viconia on her way. We also talked to Delon and he told us about problems his village was having in Immesvale. If the village can't defend itself, then certainly paladins like us need to step in and pick up the slack. We head to the City Gate.
Some slavers lead by Suna Sune tried to ambush us. Most of the party did protection from evil immediately, though Russell II did True Sight and Misty did resist fear. The ranged people (Paja, Russell II, Forrest) then moved up and left while the melees moved quickly to engage. The slaver mage dropped Paja to 1/2 life, but other than that, the slavers did nothing of consequence and were slain. Arbane went to Paja, the AC 2 armor went to a front-liner. Forrest now has lots of magical arrows so that is good. After selling at the Copper Coronet, group once again went to the City Gate and to Umar Hills.
Once in the Hills, Russell II used what little gold we had left to get +2 bullets for the slingers of the group (Paja, Russell II). Russell II suspects an enemy requiring +2 to hit will be encountered soon, but without this purchase only Joshua with his sword of chaos would even be able to hit it if so.
Russell II did some talking, resting with the Mayor and Maduff the Ogre. Eventually Maduff gave us a +2 magic shield, given to a front-liner, now both front guys have -5 AC so that should help. A strange chest creature was also battled and defeated, and a bejuril gem purchased. We find out the real source of the trouble is an old temple of Amaunator, so we head there next. A wizard created a stone golem that turned on him, the party quickly destroyed it, and got the Ilbratha as a reward, Hanna will use.
Protection from Evil x6 was enough to defeat large shadow ambush on the way to the entrance to the temple. Inside the temple, the team encountered shadows, shadow fiends and skeletal warriors. Lots of castings of PfE (protection from evil) were used, but the team still took damage now and then. A +3 sling was found, given to Paja. We saw a shadow dragon, but equipment is still too minimal, we will have to come back for this one. We had to fight a bone golem, we used our best ammo here and that won the fight.
Time for the true source of this evil, the Shade Lord. PfE on the party, True Sight, DUHM (bhaal ability), resist fear, sunstone bullets for Paja, and charge! The altar was destroyed quickly, the party then concentrated attacks on the Shade Lord. We must have interrupted his spells because he couildn't get anything off and he was slain - Immesvale is now safe!
We found an armor piece that was AC 2 and 20% fire resistance - given to Misty, that should work well for her, since together with her own fire resistance, she is now 40% fire resistance. Patrick's Halberd given to Forrest - Forrest has no skill with Halberds currently, but it's a +2 weapon, so he can use it if enemy requires +2 to hit it.
Party makes it to Umar Hills and rests in the country-side immediately to heal up, very few heal potions left. Russell II suspects trouble, so PfE on the party again, True Sight by Paja, Resist Fear by Misty and DUHM by Russell II. We encounter some rangers and they say they won't let their friend Valygar be persecuted - we had no idea what they were talking about and said Valygar who? And they called us liars and attacked. The battle lasted a while, Hanna got hurt bad but the party did prevail. One of the rangers had a plate mail, which is an upgrade for one of the people in back. Now, only Forrest is wearing splint, everyone else has AC 3 or better.
We report to the Mayor and he gives AC 3 leather, given to Forrest - now everyone has AC 3 or better. The party sells their junk, are about 14,000 gold, so will make purchases soon.

Coral, LG female elf stalker
(Epilogue > prologue)
Sarevok hs been dead only moments but Coral is already dealing with Rahvin and his mercenaries. She activates a protection from magic scroll and glugs an oil of speed to race through the thieves maze and retrieve her gear (Koveras' ring and pantaloons) before reporting back to Belt.
She makes a decent start to her jailbreak (until the game crashes, which means to get to dump Imoen, Minscand Jaheira again next time as the SoA autosave will have to be used).

Alisa's tap-dance through Bodhi's Lair was a simple exercise in cutting stuff to pieces.
Stuff like Spiders...

Vampires...

Lassals...

and finally Bodhis.

Not much else to report down there I'm afraid- though I suppose it may be worth sharing a shot of Alisa safely traversing the Blood and Blades room. The rim of the room is trap free- at least in my install.

Alisa is currently in the Underdark. I'll try to post on Spellhold and the City of Caverns soon.
Best,

Suffice to say it hasn't started anything like I expected. An unhealthy dose of lag saw the first NPC go from beyond missile range to melee before my screen showed any of that. Then it got worse so not sure what he'll make of it. Anyway;Alesia_BH wrote...

Coral is struggling to escape. After her first attempt crashed while backstabbing a goblin just NW of the initial SoA ogre mage she'd freed Minsc and Jaheira for a second time only for the game to crash after backstabbing a goblin after the two lesser clay golems.
(At this point I muttered something about fiddling with Near Infinity when I don't know what I'm doing, and re-installed)
Turning the lightning machine off for the third and final time lets Coral deal with the ogre mage, three mephits and two golems again. She kills all the goblins outside the library area and heads back to grab the sewage golem key and call it a night.

@Blind_Visionary: perhaps I wasn't clear. I just mean I hate repeating it when I had just did it, but had to repeat due to a crash or bug. It's like I just lost those minutes/hours of my life I spent to do do the first time -- I think humans just hate to see their work wasted. I don't mind seeing Candlekeep repeatedly, if I happened to die repeatedly, only if I am seeing it because of crashes.
Rusell II the level 9 Inquisitor Update - Slavers and Bandits Galore!
Areas Battled: Copper Coronet, Moored Slaver Ship, Temple Sewers, Copper Coronet Sewers
Traveling with: Hanna (undead hunter), Misty (Cavalier), Joshua (undead hunter), Paja (inquisitor), Forrest (Paladin)
Russell II's team continues to make progress. Russell II decided to investigate the Copper Coronet a little more closely and found cells with slaves - this was unacceptable, so the team helped Hendak replace the former owner - Protection from Evil was all that was needed plus melee/ranged to make that happen.
Hendak asked Russell II to take out the remaining slavers in the moored ship - Russell II reluctantly agreed. It was reluctant because he was pretty sure his team would have to deal with the bane of his team - traps. First though, the sewers under the Copper Coronet would have to be cleared. Protection from Evil x6 was all that was needed to do that, now Joshua got a new talking sword - entire team also got to level 9 - I didn't realize it at the time, but that also meant that 4 members of the team could do a level 1 spell. The only difficult part of this quest was carefully navigating around the petrification trap on the laid down door by walking on a board next to it. We had to do this repeated for this quest and the next one, so had to move the team members one at a time.
Next up for the slavers in the moored ship, entering from the sewers. Russell II did try to access their base via their front door, but even with 23 STR Russell still couldn't bash it down. So protection from evil x6, true sight, resist fear and DUHM and the party charged - success! The only big damage was Misty's AI made her attack a slaver on the stairs so she took the acid trap but she didn't die so all's good I guess. Trolls were killed extremely fast.
This part was the easy part though, now for the trickiest part, getting past the repeating prismatic spray trap. Well it didn't go well, Misty moved across and avoided the spray but was seen by the slaver mages! We are completely unbuffed, uh oh. Misty retreats to the party position, and the party does a round of buffs before the slaver group gets to them. Unfortunately the slavers were right on the trap, so when the party battled them, the trap went off repeatedly, hurting the party. We did eventually win with no deaths or chunkings but we took a beating.

After selling our slaver loot we got the Rod of Resurrection and ID glasses. In so many games of mine, when I give the glasses to my highest lore character, then when that character gets chunked I lose the glasses too - so time keeping them on the PC, only way to lose them would be death then, in which case it wouldn't matter.
After reporting to Hendak I finally notice 4 party members can cast spells...I looked at the level 1 spells and most looked either redundant or limited use...but then I noticed all melee characters in the party can cast a spell...so I came up with a new idea for me. I had the melees learn sanctuary and rest. The plan? The melees will sanctuary and charge Gauis (Tarnor the Hatchetman's powerful mage ally) - the ranged will assist while inquisitors will dispel and hopefully remove Gauis protections. It would be ike getting the drop on the opponents with paladins suddenly appearing in the enemies' midst!
I've never tried this plan before, but if it works the team will have the AC I want to deal with D'Arnise Keep. So we go to the Temple Sewers and put the plan into action. The melee sanctuary and approach Tarnor's gang - Gauis for some reason did not do true sight - the melee get within melee range and attack. At the same moment the ranged paladins move up and use their best ammunition.
Gauis did not die, he buffed and shadow doored. Misty was quickly taking a beating. Inquistors tried 2 different dispel magics in two different rounds, not completely successful. Misty took a flamestrike and was forced to retreat, Joshua failed his save vs. horror. Hanna however was keeping the pressure on Gauis, as were the ranged paladins. Misty's health was low enough Russell II ordered RoR heal for her, Misty herself kept trying to put resist fear on Joshua to get him back in the action, then success! Gauis falls!

Hanna and the ranged paladins concentrate attacks on the enemy casters, Misty is keeping all the melees busy, Joshua still running in fear. After just a few more rounds, the battle was over and the team took no deaths.
Russell II definitely feels the team is ready to deal with the problems at D'Arnise Keep, so that will be the team's next stop.

Throughout Alisa's run, I've been aware that she is a buff dependent character. In the Spellhold Labrinyth, I quickly learned just how buff dependent she truly is. Alisa had her most challenging battle to date down there. Any guesses as to which?
It was the Kobold battle over by the crystal.
Those of you who have been noting those shiny numbers on Alisa's character records may be wondering how the Kobold fight could possibly have been a comparative toughie. But that's just it: in all other battles she has been buffed to the nines and consequently enjoyed monstrous numbers. Against the Kobolds, however, I lazily left her unbuffed and life quickly became more difficult for my little half-elf.
Alisa was never ultimately in danger in that fight, but it nonetheless demonstrated just what a difference proper buffing makes. It may also foreshadow difficulties to come for Alisa. In brief battles that can be completed on a single set of buffs, Alisa is a fearsome foe. But in the longer battles to come, she may struggle to get by.
Setting aside Alisa's humbling encounter with Brynlaw's yipping demons, everything else went smoothly in the labrinyth.
Following a proficiency granting level up, Alisa got her first opportunity to dual wield Ages and the Defender. This is unlikely to become a favored combo for Alisa due to APR considerations, but it may see some use from time to time.

Following her unnecessarily lengthy battle with the Kobolds, Alisa chose to slip past the labrinyth's nameless undead and then pop Dace Sontan from a far with Azuredge.

She similarly chose a minimal conflict approach heading on to the next level- merely taunting her foes rather than killing them.

And then induldged in but a touch of item hunting before meeting up with Jon-Jon.

That of course brings us to the final showdown. Here we see Alisa and Jon-Jon, both fully buffed and ready for combat.

They spent surprisingly little time fighting each other directly however. Rather than Alisa v Jon, it was more like Alisa v. Summons happening alongside Inmates v. Jon. Alisa did, however, get the satisfaction of landing the finishing blow.
The first notable move was Wanev's foolish decision to summon a demon. That was followed by Jon's Time Stop- in which he mostly focused on the inmates.

Rather than pestering Jon, the demon chose to wreak havoc on the inmates. Alisa was ultimately tasked with taking it down. And once she did, Jon fed her a summon of his own- an Efreeti which was quickly lulled to sleep and then chunked.

A second Efreeti met the same fate.

Now, by this time, Jon had burned through much of his Abjuration school weapon defense supply. Alisa buffs were running low to, however, and ultimately it was Alisa's SI:A which ran out before Jon's Mantles. Advantage Jon.

Getting II + SI:D up tipped the scales in favor of Alisa once again soon after however.

And set up yet another range weapon base mage kill for Alisa.

With a little help from Dradeel that is.

Fin!

I'll post on the City of Caverns and the Underdark soon.
Best,
A.

Not this time. Using vanilla (which is how I got so many chunked characters with Setben), SCSII reduces chunkings quite a bit. Having said that, if the paladins do defeat Melissan and I ever try a full paladin run again, I will attempt them on SCS.
