Klonk / Valygar / Viconia / Jan / Yoshimo / Minsc
Jan’s troubled love-life has come back to taunt him. He waits at home while we reinstate Hendak and eliminate Captain Haegan. Valygar is held and killed by the slaver wizards though (and I forgot Viconia has remove paralysis memorised), then as Viconia is raising him she stops to talk to Minsc about his painted face and the spell is lost.

Klonk is ready to batter a pair of gith while Yoshimo and Valygar are ready to backstab, all in vain as the triple special snarefest kills them outright.Image IPB

The Hidden cures Jaella in return for de-githing and Lissa returns to her husband which means Jan rejoins the party.

XP ranges from 300k (Minsc), to 700k (Klonk) to 840k (Valygar).

It’s time to do what we’d started before Jan got all romantic, which means collecting our junk from around town and depositing it at Watchers Keep. Minsc has switched from longbow to throwing axe - half the frequency but hopefully twice the pain (from ** to *).

Sir Sarles is fobbed off with an illithium alloy so Cromwell can add 200lb of the real stuff to the mace of disruption and make it as light as a feather. Klonk suspiciously asks if the dwarf is running a profitable sideline.

On to the Harper Hold where we pick up “Montaron”. We try resting here as the spectral harpist says “Here you are welcome and may rest in safety” then Jan makes us invisible and we rest on the roof after reviewing our spells.

The party banter has died right down, not even a peep is raised when Lucette assassinates Xzar in front of our eyes. Nor when Travin tries to fleece us, or even as we chunkgut Borinall. The temple sewers are next, with a sea troll and rakshasa being the warm up acts.

Then on to Tarnor the Hatchetman and his buddies. Valygar scouts around and draws out two true sights from Gaius, and he chunkstabs Gaius after Klonk's initial bash. The combination of poison from the Corthala blade and basher skull stuns proves far too much for the hatchetmen.

Stats (screenshots are of current inventory; Klonk’s cloak is of no value except for the unusual look it proffers)
Klonk, berserker 11. 655 kills, Shade Lord.
Valygar, stalker 10. 97 kills, Aran Linvail.
Viconia, cleric 10. 48 kills, Rengaard.
Jan, illusionist 10 / thief 11. 15 kills, Haz.
Yoshimo, thief 13. 35 kills, Shadow Thief.
Minsc, ranger 9. 45 kills, Copper Coronet Guard.

The lesson starts well with a nishruu killed before it can move, a glabrezu is meleed next while an ogre berserker is shot down. The remaining enemies are quickly killed culminating in a genie. Jan suggests an invisible rest outside so we can revise for the final part of the lesson.

Yoshimo gets to hear all about Auntie Kylie as we buff.Image IPB

We head upstairs under invisibility to see if we can detect traps before we ourselves are detected. Two traps are eliminated, as is Sion.
Image IPB

Koshi is next, Valygar seemingly unaffected by his boom (chaotic commands?)Image IPB

Ketta backstabs Valygar, he glugs and moves as Stalman takes a fatal beating. Ketta misses Klonk once and her next invisibility glug is immediately true-sighted by Viconia. Image IPB

Jan has stunned Olaf with a basher and Ketta, Olaf and Maferan fall in quick succession.Image IPB

(plan was for Yoshimo to use Celestial Fury but Valygar looks a better choice)

Gate70/Grond0 Multiplayer attempt 22 - (update 3)
Rose, human stalker (Grond0) & Grub, halfling assassin (Gate70)

The day started at the Harper HQ, where Grub presented Rose with a Helm of Charm Protection and a set of instructions on what to do with it when facing mages.  After watching Xzar's assassination approvingly Grub moved south a bit to try and rescue Mook.  He failed in that and also managed to get drained by Lassal - Rose gently retaliated at that point by presenting him with a set of instructions on what to do when you can't wear the Amulet of Power.

Moving on to the Temple District the duo looted an amulet for Mae'Var before following the sweet smell of success to the sewers.  Roger's troll was swiftly followed by a rakshasa and a group of kobolds (mostly taken down by poison bullets from the shadows).  Then the Unseeing Eye quest was started in order to get access to the lich there.

Back in the docks there were more tasks to do for Mae'Var.  Rayic's mephits were easy enough, but the stone golems hit Rose pretty hard and he had to run for the stairs to hide from them.  Upstairs it was Grub's turn to have problems as Rayic noticed him trying to lay a trap and PWS followed by FoD spelled doom.  Rose did a couple of attacks up and down stairs before his sword of flame interrupted a spell and he was able to finish Rayic off before he could cast again.  After a few more tasks the assault on Precint 19 the Guildhouse commenced.  The thieves were not as good at backstabs as our heroes and were soon overcome.

Thinking it was past time to upgrade Rose's armour the next destination was Umar Hills.  On the journey Sansuki begged them for help and that was provided - things were made easier when not one, but both supporting vampires were unable to get past their leader to attack Rose.

At Umar Rose decided not to help the adventurous boys as that could cause problems with the ranger quest.  Instead a beljuril was obtained, and a wizard rescued from a faulty golem.  Obtaining the ingredients for that was not easy - good job there were only 2 umber hulks rather than the 5 waiting in de'Arnise Hold.  Next, Valygar's body was stripped of its armour (which fit snugly on Rose).  Returning from that Rose bumped into some undead and, instead of killing them, ran away.  Unfortunately he ran past Madulf and his crew, who engaged the undead - resulting in Madulf getting killed (which I think probably ends the chance of getting the ranger stronghold anyway).

Back in Athkatla the Bridge District provided the berserk warrior.  He played a bit part in solving the skinner murders, though Ilbratha (also being used for the first time) was more important to foil the Rune Assassins - they were slightly more difficult than I expected as they were not affected by Grub's poison.

A bit of lich hunting followed.  Undead protection scrolls and potions of speed were used in the attack on the City Gates lich.  That provided Daystar for quick kills on the Elemental Lich and Shade Lich.  The potions of speed ran out during the assault on Kangaxx and he lasted a short time longer when his demi-lich form got scared and tried to run.  However, Grub successfully pinned him against a wall while Rose applied the coup de grace.

A guild contact showed the way to the vampire HQ - he survived one backstab from Grub, but not a second.  At the Graveyard some spiders were eliminated to get to Pai'Na.  Most of her support team were fried in a potion of firebreath and the rest were no danger to Rose anyway (ring of Gaxx providing poison immunity).  Most of the vampires were also pretty easy.  The concern was over Tanova - her simmy seemed to have a permanent duration, but eventually fell victim to Grub's traps.  Tanova herself was set up for backstabs by both characters as well as a sunray.  The backstabs, however, appeared to bounce off an invisible stoneskin (causing no damage other than the bonus against undead from Daystar) and Tanova managed to squeeze a maze out just before she died in the glare of the sunray - good job this wasn't a solo game.
Image IPB
Bodhi stood little chance and was a victim of another Grubby backstab.

Stats (cont. from BG1)
Rose, stalker L11, 109 HPs (incl. 5 from Helm), 397 kills
Grub, assassin L14, 68 HPs (incl. 6 from ioun stone), 176 kills, 3 deaths

Minsc the Destroyer.Image IPB

Some thought was required for Kangaxx (Grond0 and I discussed this the other day and I decided to play safe with a line from 50 ways to kill Kangaxx: ) Or all read Scrolls of Undead, Fred,Image IPB
(edit: oops, just seen pasted Minsc twice instead of the Yoshimo)

The next challenge is exactly that - a huge challenge. Most of the party has stepped back while Klonk drops stalky. A timestop prevents Yoshimo from activating a Daystar Sunray but his four traps (2 + 2 special) ignore the timestop to kill his target anyway.Image IPB

The party moves forward to deal with Shyressa but a pit fiend is summoned and fireballs Klonk. He is badly wounded (44/131hp) and has to run but the fireball also disrupts and almost kills Jan (10/49). Jan, Viconia and Yoshimo step back again as Minsc braves a meteor storm to help Valygar and Klonk.

Klonk glugs as Valygar intercepts and kills Revanek. The pit fiend moves past Valygar though and continues after Klonk.Minsc has the last hit on Shyressa (no death, just flapped off) and Klonk has glugged a second healing potion then a third glug. He turns to land a massive critical on the pit fiend so Minsc can axe it to the ground, but Layene has brushed against Valygar and mazed him (my mistake, could have let her hit Klonk with this as he was raged).Image IPB

Layene decides to chase Yoshimo until her protections drop, but she re-buffs instantly and chases him again. Viconia has doomed herself so everybody switches to weapons. Another couple of circuits and PfMW drops again. Valygar arrives too late to help finish the battle.Image IPB

Bodhi introduces us to Saemon Havarian (the different dialogue here reminds me of a Blackadder episode where the mad sea captain Rum played by Tom Baker - Dr Who number 4 - tends to sail around the Isle of Wight until everybody gets dizzy and mentions the two schools of thought on seafaring: Everyone else says you need a crew, I say you don’t...Anyway: )

On arrival at Brynnlaw Saemon escorts the party to the inn, and from there they visit Perth the Adept. Jan uses remove magic on him and Klonk successfully turns an infinite spellbook to the next page - spell turning.
(I know I shouldn’t fiddle with dialogue I can’t remember but oh never mind)Image IPB

Klonk / Valygar / Viconia / Jan / Yoshimo / Minsc / Imoen
Yoshimo isn’t happy about us being incarcerated in Spellhold, less so when klonk suggests he learn how to fight (dual class, ** slings and axes). He stomps off with only his katana and a bow +1.

Imoen doesn’t recognise us, not a good sign. Yoshimo turns traitor and Klonk is speechless. Fortunately his companions are not (great punchline from Viconia although Jan’s oblique references are right up there).Image IPB

Klonk wakes up in a huge glass jar, noticing several large cracks in it. “Ah yes” says Irenicus. “The last oaf almost broke out despite my stealing his DUHM. Now I will take your might too.”

Klonk briefly loses consciousness and dreams about skewering Bhaal on Lilacor but jerks awake with a start. He thrashes inside the jar and bashes at the glass. As the cracks start to widen ominously Irenicus puts his hands on his head and cries out loud “Why did I leave this lumbering clod fully equipped” and rapidly incants a cutscene incantation.

Klonk briefly loses consciousness again, and wakes up in a maze where Bodhi promises to hunt him down when the time suits her. As she flaps off Imoen arrives and Klonk welcomes her into the party once more. Then he notices the reason why she seems so disorientated (levels up from 10 to 12 and immediately dual-classes to mage). A quick whip-round sees her equip the crimson dart (her only proficiency), cloak of the stars, an ioun stone, Koveras’ ring of protection +1 and the staff of the magi. Only three or four scrolls can be found too.

Imoen is weak, so she is given the golem manual, Kitthix, the berserk warrior and the djinn ring. A clay golem is convinced to give up a bag of holding then Klonk and Valygar fight a greater wolfwere and a pit fiend - which is boom-stunned.

A yuan-ti mage is backstab-boomed but two salamanders with it are immune. Klonk and Lilacor are immune to umber hulk attacks and Valygar is backstabbing with abandon while protected with chaotic commands. A bit further on and all is well until...
Image IPB

Klonk checks - no stone to flesh scrolls. He then breathes a sigh of relief, remembering Jan has memorised stone to flesh. Bad news is this is a level 6 spell and Jan is only level 11 (so miles off). Klonk rallies the party and says there is a fair bit of time to come back for the stricken ranger (not to mention he was the Sarevok-drop if the party get that far).

(Items with Minsc are Aeger's Hide, the Improved Mace of Disruption, Rifthome axe, Quiver of Plenty, large shield +2, helm of charm protection, a few arrows/healers and Boo).

Extreme lag catches Valygar (me) out, leaving Klonk rangerless for the first time since...well...almost ever.Image IPB

Klonk implores Viconia to raise Valygar so she heals Imoen with a spell and replaces it with raise dead before casting Wondrous Recall. Then she raises the stalker. Now that’s magic.

Valygar immediately sets to work, reporting that various undead await to the south-east but no lich (party xp is about 4m so quite low for 5 people. Imoen is about 550k, Valygar about 1.1m). The stalker is gently regenerating so Klonk can either rest or front the undead on his own. Valygar mentions two shadow fiends and Klonk decides he’d prefer to be fighting them while raged. Rest it is then, and the undead are rapidly dwindled down as a result.

Jan finally meets his match.Image IPB

Dace Sontan is boom-stunned with a backstab, looks like Valygar is working through his anger management issues. We take his hand and return to the huge facial carving. It intones that our way is clear but refuses to open.

(& I’m stuck as everything is done, possibly to do with Minsc being stoned? CTRL/J would probably work though)

I vote for CTRL/J if that's what it takes. Klonk is King. I want him to get his DUHM back.

Minsc.... alas. He may have to rot in Spellhold. :(

Nice - I don't think I've ever tried that trick.

Re Jan - how far off level 12 is he?  Is it possible to rest somewhere to get additional enemies to get him the level needed to cast stone to flesh?

Viell, dwarven swashbuckler (update 1)

Viell has built on his BG1 experiences to make good initial progress in Amn.

In the dungeon DUHM added to his natural abilities was sufficient to handle all the traps, which made things easier.  Stealth shots were his most typical form of attack, but there was also plenty of melee and use of traps where appropriate.  For instance the first steam mephit thought he was in luck when he stunned Viell, only to run into a wall of traps.  The elemental plane was fiddly as Viell doesn't have any bonuses to bow damage so it took quite a while to kill the mephits there.  By the time the steam mephit was alone Viell was tired of shooting and just went into melee - this one also briefly stunned him, but didn't manage to do much damage by itself.  I intended to set some traps for Ulvaryl as well, but Veill was a bit slow setting those and Ulvaryl disappeared before they activated.

After escaping from the dungeon Veill went on to save some of the circus folk (though not all of them).

He then reported in to Gaelan Bayle and bought some thieving potions.  On the way out of Gaelan's he had a rare encounter with a small slaver convoy.  Returning to the Promenade the potions allowed him to quickly become well equipped before going back to the Slums to gift the Copper Coronet to Hendak.  The potions were still active at that time allowing a couple more items to be lifted from Bernard's stock.

Off to the Temple District to open up the Unseeing Eye quest.  On the way Viell dealt with Roger's troll, though 2 criticals in rapid succession made for a few nervous moments - he recovered by using the RoAC to break contact and set a few traps for the troll.  Also used stealth shots and traps to clear out the rakshasa.

The Athkatla liches have taken a terrible hammering in the last day, so Viell also decided to take advantage of their disorganisation using a scroll of undead protection and a potion of speed.  The potion ran out as he arrived at Kangaxx, but was not renewed.  I was a bit concerned about Kangaxx panicking and running, so tried a sunray on him in case its ability to get through magic resistance extended to lich immunities.  It didn't, but Daystar's bonus damage vs undead did enough in one hit to kill him before he got scared anyway.

Viell travelled to the Graveyard in search of something to protect him from more critical hits.  However, on safely arriving he turned round and did the journey back as well (up to this point all travel had been genuine, but I've been very surprised that the Suna Seni ambush had not triggered).  The extra fake journey did the trick and a potion of firebreath decimated the opposition - Suna Seni's pleas for help were not to be answered.

The Suna Seni encounter got Viell to level 13.  Here's his current record and inventory.

Jan is showing 440k, level 12 is 750k so a country mile off even before remembering he's got to get double that difference as a multi-class.

I usually carry a spare scroll or 2 but haven't got any restorations either so poor planning on my part.

Klonk / Valygar / Imoen / Jan / Viconia
“See” says Klonk “We can always come back upstairs once we’ve found a scroll to help Minsc. We just have to jump over the builder-face again”. Imoen looks sceptical.

Valygar boom-stuns an ulitharid, a noble djinn and even a stone golem. A gauth too. Klonk has scared Bodhi away by turning into the slayer, and turned a second time while resting. Imoen is glancing at the open door; Klonk knows what is on her mind. “If we can’t return here at least Minsc and Boo will be the stuff of legend”. Imoen sniffs, despondent that her rescue has come at such cost.

Valygar hands Klonk some 5-token boots to keep him toasty warm, retaining the 15gp boots for himself. Klonk is happy with this as they will help the stalker apply more backstabs than ever.

The exit looks like a one-way affair. RIP Minsc and Boo.

Lonk the sane takes damage from 2 snares set by Jan and explodes as Valygar chunkstabs him. Klonk soon rallies all the inmates and everybody heads downstairs.

“Die. Just Die” screams Irenicus. Klonk replies “Olot dos, walking corpse”. Viconia nods her head in approval.

A few moments later Irenicus teleports away and Yoshimo arrives. He and his murderers don’t last long, although Viconia has to glug two potions before they are all dead. Klonk picks up the blackened heart of Yoshimo and bags it for some strange reason.

Imoen has some slight wounds so Klonk turns to heal her. This ability has gone too so Valygar casts a minor heal but Imoen’s minor spell turning rejects it. He hands her a regenerative ring instead and we depart. The essence of Lonk the sane manages a spell-turning on the way and this act cheers Imoen up enough for a slight giggle to escape her.

Saemon Havarian teleports us outside but Jan takes us back into Spellhold to look for loot. On our way out again Valygar is level-drained by vampiric mists and Klonk suggests Viconia do a wondrous recall restoration. Viconia points out that we haven’t rested since she recalled all those death wards so we do it the old fashioned way after reaching the Vulgar Monkey.

Saemon is keen for us to leave but Imoen has been temple visiting and insists we must return to Spellhold. Klonk knows it is futile but Imoen sets off and the party must follow. Imoen reaches a portal and is about to step through it in desperation when Viconia pulls her back saying she can sense the Underdark beyond.

We reach another area marked as an exit but there is no sign of a door or stairs. Imoen bawls in frustration and it is several minutes before we can convince her to leave. The evening is spent at the Vulgar Monkey, drinking to the memory of rangers and hamsters.

We’ve drunk far too much and Imoen clatters around the home of the pirate-lord-mistress. No matter, her staff of the magi means nobody pays any attention as she grabs another rogue stone and the item that Saemon requires. Deshariik turns up to observe us fight his pirates but Valygar kills him too. We set sail, only to be boarded by gith.

Valygar is stunned so Viconia casts remove paralysis as Jan bruiser-stuns his attackers and Imoen summons fleshy into the fray. Our ship is breaking apart under the strain and things get worse as sahuagin arrive.

The sahuagin kink asks if we are the favoured ones. Imoen tells him that Minsc and Boo are otherwise occupied and we are his emissaries. The king is inclined to not believe us until Valygar boom-stuns an ettin so Klonk can turn it into chunky fish-food and then he quickly becomes a believer.

(tally so far is Coran chunked in BG1 by a confused Klonk, Mazzy left in disgust over siding with Bodhi and Minsc stoned in the Spellhold maze)

Klonk / Valygar / Imoen / Jan / Viconia
A bone golem is boom-stunned before we grab Sekolah’s tooth. Jan has successfully cleared every trap (although approaching one at the wrong angle saw him mazed after disabling it, wouldn’t try that in solo play). Viconia talks to the Spectator beholder, her epic wisdom (21) finding a way to convince it to aid us.

Jan uses his immense charisma (18, ring) to trade with a sahuagin priestess, managing to pay for one or two items with a mouldy turnip he found at the bottom of his backpack. He hands Imoen 20 or so scrolls and memorises three or four himself. We rest for 16 hours and Imoen advises Klonk to watch out for her spells until she gets used to them.

The sahuagin high priestess wants us to betray their king, Klonk is wary as her rocking from side to side is disconcerting and reminds him of badly treated animals in a zoo.

Valygar scouts around before boom-stunning a priestess. She still manages to erect a blade barrier while stunned so he kills her and grabs her cloak. Any of us could use the cloak but Klonk decides to try it first as his fascination with the shadow thief cloak has finally waned.

His cloak is complemented by Valygar’s spell turning book to sushi a sea zombie lord and his minions. Viconia declares it a veritable delicacy and Klonk decides to have a taste too. Jan is borderline, suggesting it requires some turnip essence while Imoen and Valygar have squeamishly turned away.

Klonk decides to ally with the sahuagin prince, at least for the time being. After the king and his captain are boom-stunned there is little resistance to the coup. Jan pickpockets the prince blind then Klonk attacks him. He and his chieftain are also boom-stunned and it is time to leave with two ropes and two treasury keys.

(The Underdark, how not to do it)

Viconia is busy warning Klonk about the perils of the Underdark. Over there, for example, are 3 mind flayers. Dead. Far to the southeast is an elder orb. Dead (although a beholder did briefly hold Klonk despite his cloak so he is careful to enrage the rest). He neglects to mention another hold, and being scared. Or three elder orb imprisonments foiled by rage. Or the domination while he was fatigued.

Viconia is equally neglectful, having noticed Valygar is dead (beholder death spell). He elects to spawn next to Klonk and is charmed then killed again. Fortunately Klonk has recovered and raged again. A beholder and two gauth are bombarding him with magical attacks and in his slowed state he is struggling to finish off the elder orb.

The slow wears off as he kills it and the beholder only takes a couple of hits. The gauth are no danger so he thinks until he is slowed then held. A flesh golem, berserk warrior and two skeletons descend on the gauth and by the time Klonk recovers Valygar is picking up his equipment thanks to a wondrous recall raise dead.

Has Klonk learnt? Has he heck. Another group of gauth stun him so the two skeletons and Kitthix weigh in while a malison / slow / remove paralysis are applied. Klonk is paralysed again two seconds later but the summons complete the battle with the assistance of Jan and Imoen while their spell deflections last.

Valygar boom-stuns a balor in the swirf settlement and Imoen kills it with a crimson dart. The five demon knights guarding a statue of Demogorgon are rapidly eliminated and Klonk groans as he realises the Soul Reaver sword is not an option for him (I made this mistake last time, to do it again is painful).

A drow party guarding the underdark exit is killed while the kuo-toa prince panics. Klonk uses a Gaxx Improved Haste as Valygar boom-stuns him. Even then the regeneration is such that he survives several more hits. Only after he is dead does Klonk contaminate the tadpole pool.

Far to the east is an illithid lair, where Viconia once again demonstrates not even a cut-scene can stop her.Image IPB

The entire lair is done without incident (although Viconia questions this and mentions the part where Klonk had an intelligence of 6 with Valygar’s intelligence at 5. Klonk strenuously denies this, the only witness being Jan as both Imoen and Viconia had been stunned some distance away from the fight).

With the swirf village and all 3 outlying areas done Ust Natha is next.

Time for a recap of kills.
View before looking is that Valygar recently appears to be shading Klonk.
Stats in brackets are from just before the Twisted Rune.

Klonk, berserker 14. 837 kills, Shade Lord. (+182)
Valygar, stalker 13. 240 kills, Lonk the sane. (+143)
Imoen, mage 11 (thief 12). 101 kills, Balor. (N/a)
Jan, illusionist 11 / thief 13. 26 kills, Haz. (+11)
Viconia, cleric 14. 67 kills, Simyaz. (+19)

The things Klonk will do to avoid drow central.

“What’s this scroll” says Jan. Imoen gasps as he reads it out and Vithal appears. “Well done” she snaps “now we’re stuffed if anyone gets imprisoned. If it does happen it had better just be you”. Jan prattles on about how a turnip salve can do wonders in that sort of situation and Vithal bursts out laughing.

Raevilin Strathi tries to imprison and maze Klonk. Not today bucko.Image IPB

Same for a lich, although repeated de-buffs are foiled by repeated PfMW’s and Imoen sends in the berserk warrior to kill it while Kitthix and fleshy add their weight.

Valygar points out the drow war party. Our counter-ambush is almost perfect, the only slight mistake being Valygar backstabbing before Klonk drops out of improved invisibility. The stalker glugs a healing potion to get back to half health and zips away to hide, managing two more backstabs before the battle is over.

Klonk decides to fight Lasaonar and is decisive in his victory before sending Valygar in to fight Chalinthra. The stalker finds his hide ability doesn’t work once, but uses his guile to ensure victory. Imoen uses a berserk warrior as decoy, darts as a disruptor and a flesh golem as a weapon of destruction. The summons last all three mage fights, and then Klonk melees the animal pit with Valygar sneaking in to backstab too.

As we step outside Ust Natha Viconia is quizzing Jan about the Amnish turnip wars and his part in it. As he turns to answer his keen ears pick up a distant sound. He sounds the alarm as Boz and co make their way towards us so we start to buff but as Valygar hides Jan whispers that more sounds can be heard (& no imprisonment or maze for N'ashtar today).Image IPB

Damien is seemingly alone and targeting Imoen so she switches to her staff and he loses track of her. He turns towards Jan who mirror images to foil an attack. Damien wasn't born yesterday and glugs a potion to hide again but  Viconia is casting true sight as Klonk and Valygar stand ready. (screenshot is a few seconds later after Klonk checks for other survivors)

Klonk suggests that Jan should lay more traps next time and the gnome goes “ummmmmmm”. As we reach Solaufein he’s still umming. We buff and as Solaufein draws the illithid party in he continues “mmmmm I did”, wiping what looks suspiciously like illithid brain off his AdventureWear ™.

(what a gnome)

Klonk / Valygar / Imoen / Jan / Viconia
(Klonk is lagging all session here - the drow disguise doesn’t suit him)

Jan beckons to Imoen - he can cast his stone to flesh and they should return for Minsc. Ouch, what was that slap for? Klonk misses this exchange, being far too interested in the Dragons Bane halberd (level 15, just put 2nd * in halberds).

Qilue and her guards are no match for breach / remove magic combo’s with hasted melee on the side, then we find time for our first rest since entering the drow citadel. Viconia speaks to Solaufein then Phaere and is given short shrift from each, while Klonk-Veldrin manages to get a few snippets of information out of them.

An “Eye Tyrant” is killed by Solaufein - hang on chap, that’s our job. In return we convince him to stay at home while we borrow a swirf helmet. After being sent to kill Solaufein Klonk offers him refuge (since Minsc is gone) but he declines (and gives some text I’ve not seen before in however many runs).

Klonk spends a night with Phaere and is told to go to the temple the next day. Viconia is vaguely tolerant of this behaviour, finding it amusing. She also knows the routine about finding one of three items for the matron mother. “Time to hunt a lich then” (and so it proves, with improved haste used to deliver a cutscene death before transitioning to Jarlaxle).Image IPB

Deal with the Ghaunadians? One of the three priests is gurgling her last as we arrive, the other two having already expired from a turnip overdose. Klonk and Valygar deal with the jellies then Valygar purchases and arms some slaves to send to the surface. Viconia is unhappy (reputation 15) about this with just the one snide remark while we rest.

Viconia uses a girdle of strength, boots of speed and sanctuary to make the egg-switch a certainty, putting the Phaere fakes into the egg chamber and handing Phaere the fakes crafted by Solaufein. As usual four party members are stood outside her quarters waiting for laggy-Veldrin-Klonk to arrive (he stops walking for a second each round - meaning he is last to arrive anywhere).

The Matron Mother and Phaere both die from flamestrikes as the summoned Lesser Demon Lord discovers their tithes are worthless. Klonk banishes it and leaves before the guards get suspicious. Adalon removes the illusions placed on us and Klonk tests his walk. Much better, those drow clothes were far too tight.

@Gate70 - sorry I am so late to the party. But just wanted to let you know the ring of earth control (loot from D'Arnise Keep) could have unpetrified Minsc. So as long as Minsc wasn't wearing it, use it's ability to bring him up to speed. Not much help now, but maybe someone will get petrified again...

Thanks Corey. I haven't been there yet, was trying to save things for Imoen to do. I did check all my items as I vaguely remembered something had that ability.

Klonk! Congratulations on ripping off that stuffy drow costume! Time to wear your tusks with pride!
