Have you tapped the Cutpurse's supply of Spell Immunity scrolls already? I noticed that you have the make individual versions of spell immunities available to the player component installed. In addition to Spell Immunity proper, the Cutpurse should have individual versions of SI:D and SI:A

Btw. Nice work Serg! It is interesting that the shapeshifter is outperforming everyone else.

Thanks, Alesia! :)  And thanks again for pointing on Cutpurse - I haven't visited him yet as I avoid roaming the streets of Athkatla at night. All those scary vampires, whooaaa...

Gate70/Grond0 Multiplayer attempt 23 (2) - (first & final update)
Rue, human inquisitor (Grond0) & Murl, human monk (Gate70)

I'm a bit reluctant to do this post, for fear of what Corey will say - but here goes anywayPosted Image.

The paladin and monk combination had only one hiccup in the dungeon when both were stunned (twice) by a steam mephit.  However, the mephits didn't do too much damage and both our heroes survived comfortably.

The circus and Copper Coronet were done on the way to the graveyard to have a chat with Pai'Na and her spiders.  Rue, with better AC and saves, tanked with the idea of saving Murl from spider bites.  However, once Murl joined in he did get bitten several times - going down to 10 HPs at one point (which is only seconds from death with the venom doing 5 HPs damage at a time).

Murl took his life in his hands when braving the finger of death trap at Watcher's Keep - but survived.

Back in the city an assault on the slavers was momentarily in trouble when one of the wizards held Murl just as he died.  With several attackers Murl could have been killed before Rue could dispel the hold, but the other wizard did the job for him!

That led in to some rapid progress.  Mae'Var's guild was completed, as was the Harper HQ, while a start was also made with the Unseeing Eye and Fallen Paladins.

While in the Bridge District doing the latter it seemed only reasonable to pick up the berserker horn.  Murl duly did that and got mazed in the process.  Unfortunately he seemed to take longer than would be expected (for an intelligent man) to pop back into existence and Rue got bored.  Absent-mindedly she investigated a nearby chest - you can see the petrified result!

Have no fear - I was hoping you guys would succeed! Small parties that don't have thiefs, it's very understandable dying to traps (hence my warning). And your swashbuckler dying to traps doesn't count, as those traps are undetectable and un-disarmable.

Also, there are so many traps in BG 2, it would be difficult to memorize them all and prepare them. Regardless, I hope you and Gate70 have more success in your next attempt.

Just out of curiousity, would the ring of air control foil the maze trap, since you can't be targeted?

Corey_Russell/Dogdancing Multi-player No-Reload
Loqi - gnomish Fighter/Cleric 106 HP, controlled by CR (protagonist)
Bait - Human berserker 7 > thief 13, controlled by Dog

Loqi continues his no-reload. Not a ton done this session, lots of running around - incidents of note:
* We went ahead and paid Galen Bayle - the resulting items gave Loqi level drain protection and gave Bait the +2 ring, which puts the duo's AC at both at -9.
* Maevar quest started - we had some strange bugs when looting the necklace of the Talos Weathermistress - she was both standing and sleeping on her bed! And both versions didn't have the necklace! So Bait looted the chest and nobody said anything - good riddance. Bait then looted the Talos Temple while Loqi waited outside.  We got some extra healing potions and wand of heavens, so well worth it.
* Rayic Gethras next target - but first had to deal with his mephitis - to make it a bit easier, put a haste potion on Bait and used a fire resistance potion on both characters - still had to heal some but success first level. While buffs were still active took down the stone golems - the golems got bait to very low life, twice but she ran away then Loqi tanked great thanks to his -12 AC to blunt weapons (should have had Loqi come upstairs first)

Loqi then gave Bait lots of anti-mage buffs, such as CC, free action, resist fear, fire resistance and chant - Bait then went upstairs alone. Bait also switched to the sword of flame and indeed managed to interrupt a number of Rayic's spells with the elemental damage - Bait only had to heal once that fight, and Rayic never even got a chance to summon anything. Bait then looted the place and the duo reported their success to Edwin.
* Edwin then had us get some documents from Marcus - however, Bait's thieving potions had worn off by then, so just paid the 250 gold for them. Reported to Edwin once more.
* Next up was killing the "traitor". In reality, we just took Marl's dagger and then Maevar had us report to Edwin. Edwin finally gave us the key we needed and then we looted Maevar's night stand and gave the stealth boots to Bait. Dogdancing was really hurting right about now in real life, so the duo ended their session.

Next session will deal with Maevar once and for all...there are some skeletons and snares by Maevar...they might prove useful soon.

Roliahv, LG male elf stalker

After a reasonable 60fps run through BG1 it is fair to say Roliahv is having a tougher time in Amn at the same speed. He's just reached level 11 but had several lucky breaks.
- Radianted twice by mephits, but survived.
- Salted once by a mephit, but survived.
- Scared by Suna Seni and her slavers, but survived.
- Scared by the slaver wizards to the west of Haegan. Didn't run down the poison step or through the radiant trap, and just survived.

As if that wasn't enough he had to glug and run the length of the Bridge district before killing the 2nd kidnapper.

Other than that he's been in control (sword of chaos, circus, freed Hendak, retrieved Lilacor, paid Gaelan Bayle, dealt with Hareishan, scared Lassal off the corpse of Mook, returned Littleman to Wellyn and obtained a beljuril from a chicken.

The worst of it is that he's just unlocked the planar sphere and discovered that Valygar might as well keep his armour  must be the 3rd time this year I've got an elf stalker this far before remembering the race restriction.

Arbane is offhand. Main hand is the Blade of Roses with a sword of flame for pesky trolls.

Fingers crossed (oops, pressed wrong key!)

A few jobs are done in Umar to pick up Ilbratha but a more suitable weapon than even the Blade of Roses seems sensible when Anath mentions a Shade Lord. Roger the Fence can't lay his hands on one but tells Roliahv how potions of fire giant strength, speed and invulnerability will do the trick when combined with a protection from undead scroll. How - the usual way.

Roliahv (I have to spell this name backwards every time) speaks to the temple of Helm, then Keldorn, Gaal and Sassar. The PfU scroll is used and a lich destroyed. The oil of speed is glugged to get to the City Gates where the fire giant potion and DUHM are uses to bash a hidden door. A chest inside is bashed so Daystar / Blade of Roses can destroy the city gate lich. There is a realisation at this point that two more doors need opening and only one DUHM remains.

To the Bridge district, glugging a potion of invulnerability on the way and activating the RoAC II (save vs spells reduced by 9). One door is bashed (lich) and a second (Twisted Rune) and a moment later the DUHM expires. Phew (although possibly STR-22 would have sufficed) - the lich is quickly destroyed and the Twisted Rune is left for the time being.

Off to bash the final lich door via a second DUHM. Kangaxx is given the old one-two (with the Blade of Roses being ineffective but never mind). Job done, celebrate by killing the thieves Samia is toying with.

With some buffs still active there is time to head back to the Bridge district and turn Gracen into Gravy. Now level 12 and a brief consideration of whether minor spell deflection would allow retrieval of the Valhalla horn - decision is that it wouldn't help, and also that Improved Invisibility may help against a targeted maze but probably not against a trap (assume the options are
- chaotic command, no cleric and ranger doesn't have this level of spell
- protection from magic scroll
- maybe 3 2 (oh, the fingers...) potions of magic protection
- maybe a cloaked jelly but suspect not
- later - spell turning from a ring or infinite book).

Watchers Keep instead, using Improved Invisibility, DUHM, and MST to grap a quiver of plenty, case of plenty, ammo belt and a golem book to sell.

Anath is dying, having been battling for 6 days since Roliahv last saw her. She tells him to turn back as powerful weapons are needed (waves Daystar). She's not impressed, saying how their attacks can immobilise (waves Arbane with offhand) and then says they are draining (shows the AoP medallion). Anath says "what about " and expires. What about WHAT?

Fighting in doorways prevents the undead swarming all around the stalker. A letter from Tombelthen is stored in case an urgent call of nature sees some paper being required without notice.

Two skeleton warriors and a greater mummy are challenging enough but the bone golem with them is much worse. Hiding and healing gets the right result, only to find a second group a bit further on. More of the same but the golem is removed first and the battle is slightly easier. Backpack space means Umar is briefly visited to sell the loot.

The shadow dragon looks imposing. An invisible rest beside it is used to look for signs of weakness.

The dragon can wait, instead Roliahv buffs for the Shade Lord. Resist fire/cold > barkskin > MSD > AoF > DUHM > Ilbratha mirror > RoAC II> Gaxx IH. The Shade Lord laughs.

A single sunstone bullet is hurled from Arla's sling - down goes the shadow altar (I have found that this is the safest way to remove the altar).

The Shade Lord is badly wounded by the time a shadow and Shadow Patrick reach the melee zone. Switching targets seems risky but Shadow Patrick is quickly overwhelmed then the Shade Lord is finished before dropping the shadow. Level 13 and back to Umar, then on to Watchers Keep to stash a few items.

Wasting a bit of time pays off as a woodland nymph wants help. Lord Igen Tombelthen is tearing up the grounds near the abandoned temple. Fortunately Roliahv has only used one side of the aforementioned letter in his promise to Winthrop about keeping his elven ar5e clean and soon has a gaudy necklace returned to Igen.

Ranger rule 1. Always best to loiter around, these Umarians seem to spread their work out. A group of orogs are next, the usual buffs seeing them defeated without injury.

More loitering until the Witch of Umar makes a re-appearance. Roliahv clears a few undead then buffs before tackling a glabrezu. The witch and her imp are next, falling to a sneaky DUHMstab and follow-on melee.

The moon-dog figurine has options, like remove fear. Roliahv makes the mistake of entering the shadow dragon lair without the relevant ward though and is immediately attacked so he retreats. After buffing he returns and summons the moon dog. It manages to get a resistance to fear in before a death spell eliminates it. Roliahv is trying his luck though.

After a few moments he tries to retreat but is buffeted into an alcove. Safety. No, the dragon is in here too so a quick rush to the next alcove. What's plan b?

Rat form. The shadow dragon is unable to kill it and loses some stoneskins and a couple of toenails to the rodent despite buffeting it across the cavern several times. Eventually though the rat form wears off and the dragon is too tough for more than a couple of seconds battle.

Roliahv is standing in a pool of his own blood, back in the alcove. When not blinded he looks through his backpack and tries his tuigan shortbow. The fire arrows hit but there aren't many of them so he tries the quiver of plenty. Lots of misses but the odd arrow finds a target. After a minute or two are spent alternating between blindness and archery the dragon is almost dead. Roliahv switches to longswords and uses his final Gaxx haste. It takes two hits but the dragon  is finally cut down.

edit, slight armour issue...

Rayic Gethras, Prebek / Sanasha, Xzar and Mae'Var are crossed off the list. Into the temple sewers where Tarnor the Hatchetman and his party are pooped.

Time for a lesson with Ketta and Sion. Downstairs is no problem although the efreeti proves to be as annoying as usual. Upstairs starts OK and although nobody is killed Olaf is badly wounded. The moon dog has been killed so time for a game of hide and seek. First though, time to use a dispel magic...

...only a dawn/dusk movie activates mid casting and the stalker continues an infinite cast. This means he'll have to fight a buffed party instead of picking them apart.

Needless to say he should have waited, finding out that Koshi is hasted. Not a problem until we reach a dead-end and then realise Koshi can boom-stun (I think I've been here before too, must try to remember these things).

Back to Candlekeep at some point.

Sad news Gate... :( I was hoping to have his nice company here a bit longer...

Some news about the Avatars. We a at the *cleaning* routine before departure to the Brynnlaw. Fighting Valeria & Co we discovered a nice-looking effect while using the Agannazar's Scorcher:

Posted Image

Besides being funny the effect is quite useful  to *reveal* the hidden foes - was immediately used vs Ketta in Guarded Compound (10 free Potions of Invisibility. Nice!). But before going into the Compound we (Krimlor naturally) defeated the City Gates lich: Krimlor went in under Sanctuary which was useless vs lich so he tried Pro vs Undead Scroll. Immediatelly dispelled... As the door is shut until the lich is destroyed (SCS behaviour) Krimlor is one-on-one... Ookaay, the second scroll while lich filles the room with Stinking Cloud/Web cocktail. Krimlor's saves are good enough to ignore this and when PvMW weared off lich was demolished with Mace of Disruption.

Posted Image

Onto the Temple District and into the Guarded Compound. The first floor enemies were not a much threat, only Glabrezu with his Unholy Blights. I used Pro vs Magic Energy on my casters after his first use of UB and my fighters have high enough hp to survive that:

Posted Image Posted Image  Posted Image

Vs second floor foes we took *divide and conquer* approach. Not very *sporty* (I know...) and my Priest of Helm>Mage & Co dealt with them in fair fight (after his no-reload run was over though and I could experiment freely and without fear) but I wasn't in the mood to risk for now. Koshi was *duplicated* so we were *forced* to fight him twice (first time Nymph held him quick so easy target). Ketta landed a backstab on Grond but I and Alesia immediately hit him with Agannazar's Scorchers and next round he fell. Sion wasted his precious Time Stop to double-spook Grond in vain (or out of desperation) and with his protections removed Cassia ripped him fast. Alesia finished Stalman and Pot blinded Maferan making him an easy target for me to finish:

Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image

Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image

Sewers Lich fell to Alesia's traps (while Wish-ing for our protections to be removed):

Posted Image

The fight vs Kangaxx:

Alesia set 3 traps but only the first one hit the lich in the end. Kangaxx Wish-ed Double Length Time Stop and unlike Sion not wasted it. Somehow defining Alesia as his main threat (spent a lot of his free time inspecting our thread here, I presume) he unloaded a lot of stuff on her (note to self: Minor Spell Deflection doesn't protect vs Breach...*Updated my Journal*). Eventually he removed all our buffs and landed ADHW... that hurt badly when unprotected... We retreated and discussed our options. Go to the inn for rest or continue the fight unbuffed. Eventually decided that two *cheesy* battles in one session is too much for our peace of mind so buffed casters with Polymorph Self (for mustard jelly emergency) and descended back to the crypt. Meanwhile Kangaxx brought 3 Mordenkainen Swords on the battlefield but we quickly MM them. Soon his numerous PvMW weared off and we finally were able to hurt him back. As he transformed in DemiIich form I cast Spell immunity: Abjuration, took Daystar and together with Krimlor destroyed him quickly.

Our nearest goal is to make a stronghold quests until it has a long break in them (30 or so days) and onto the Brynnlaw.

Current state (and inventories):

BlackStrider: Blade(18), 178 kills (Shade Lord);
Alesia The Curious: Mage(12)/Thief(14), 44 kills (Shade Lich); (1 death);
Grond The Pathfinder: Archer(14), 188 kills (Master of Thralls);
Cassia The Furious: Shapeshifter(14), 338  kills (Greater Wolfwere); (1 death);
Krimlor: Fighter(11)/Cleric(12), 249 kills (Kangaxx the Demi-Lich); (1 death);
Pot The Selfless: Mage(14), 41 kills (Koshi).(1 death).

to be continued...

Corey_Russell/Dogdancing Multi-player No-Reload
Loqi the gnomish level 9 Fighter/level 10 Cleric, controlled by CR (protagonist)
Bait the Human level 7 berserker > level 13 thief controlled by Dog

Loqi and Bait engaged the thieves at Maevar's place - with Loqi's -12 AC to piercing, and Bait's -12 AC to piercing, they handled this part well. For Maevar, Bait acted as "bait" some skeletons assisted and Loqi spammed the wand of heavens until it poofed - this was effective in winning the battle.

Bait was tired of switching armor, so she used the Shadow Armor permanently and gave the +2 ring to Loqi - this puts Loqi's AC to -10.

Their first battle in this config was against the PIrates hiding in the Seas Bounty - battle took a while, Bait took a lot of small hits, but success! Key play was Bait silenced the mage with her Namura. Loqi spammed animate dead to assist Bait. The duo rested and next was to engage Prebek.

Bait stealthed and backstabbed Prebek for 68 damage, one-shotting him. Loqi then entered the room and was a clean mop-up. Next was to loot the Harper's Hold blind - no problems with this, and a nice charm protection helmet obtained. Xzar didn't survive the return of his "friend". Corey_Russell's and Dogdancing's 6 year old girl wanted her laptop back by this point, so the duo saved here.

Corgrunt the Half-Orc Fighter - Update 4
Traveling with: Minsc, Jaheira, Anomen, Yoshimo, Nalia

Corgrunt's team finally decides to investigate the ruckus at the circus. Turns out was a massive illusion, with mostly shadows and werewolves causing trouble - with the party's good weapons and armor, they handled this problem quite well - Corey_Russell forgot to give the "sword" to Aerie to dispel her form, so lost some experience when completing the quest, oops...

Corgrunt's team then went into the Copper Coronet Sewers - took a little damage, but no real problems to speak of, primarily because Corgrunt holds tightly to the Arbane, despite no skill with short sword like a paranoid Orc, to keep him safe from enemy holds. Lilacor of course goes to Minsc, although Minsc is still dual-wielding the Flail of Ages and the mace +1.

Hendak has been waiting for a while to finish his 2nd quest, so the team enters through the front door and battles the slavers. Only problem was Anomen and Minsc got held and Minsc in particular taking a lot of damage. Corgrunt of course kills the enemies as fast as he can, Nalia slows them, Jaheira uses some healing scrolls on Minsc, and Yoshimo fires his bow at the mages - success! Rest of the slavers were no trouble. Should be noted at the beginning of the battle Minsc had silenced the slaver mages with the Namura.

Gold is really good, so will get the Shield of Balduran or Robe of Vecna soon, or perhaps take down Kangaxx..lots of choices when at 40,000 gold.

Or maybe not, Corgrunt decided to take on the Trademeet problems instead.

Solid work Corey. I was going to ask if you had remove paralysis memorised but expect Anomen is the only one who had it as an option.

I was reading up on maze the other day and saw a suggestion of mazing helpless party members! Seems a bit extreme if something like invisibility is available instead.

I think I do have Anomen memorize that, I like it not only for removing hold but removing stun from party members - but of course that only work when Anomen isn't held himself! (he was held at the Slaver's Moored Ship).

The catch of invisibiity is that you have to turn off the AI or your invisible party member can attack and drop their invis. No need for that with maze. But agree, in general, invisibility would be just as useful in that context.

And thanks for the kudo - I could have played more yesterday, but I was tired, and my policy is not to play no-reloads when tired.

Corey_Russell/Dogdancing Multi-Player No-Reload - disaster strikes
Loqi the level 10 fighter/level 10 cleric, controlled by CR (protagonist)
(Bait the berserker > thief, controlled by Dog)
Gum the berserker/thief, controlled by Dog

The duo wasn't sure what to do, but decided to deal with the Umar Hills problems before the spawns become too high level. This was a good choice mostly, as the duo handled the undead here fairly well.

The key decision, though was to avoid/engage the shadow dragon. Loqi was pretty sure the team could win, with his AoP protecting him from the dragon's breath and the cubby hole protecting Loqi from the dragon's melee. The question was what to do with bait.

The plan? 7 snares (basic) laid around the dragon, resting was required to do this. Next 4 skeletons. Resist fear. Bait stood to the left to hopefully stay out of the dragon's attention. Loqi fired the first shot at the dragon - the snares didn't do much damage, nor were the skeletons very effective. Bait tried to use her sling, but she kept drawing close to the dragon, and the dragon attacked her! She was getting hit hard, so the plan was to use an invis potion - but Thaxxy didn't stop attacking! Hmm, apparently it sees thru invis. Bad news, Loqi runs to bait to hand her a haste potion and tells Bait to run away from the dragon, but Bait misunderstands and runs toward Loqi which allows the dragon to take a swipe at Bait's 2 HP at that moment and chunked her!
Posted Image

Loqi was not going to let her die in vain - he ran to the cubby hole and proceeded to sling the dragon. What was important was when he got blinded, he waited until it passed then resumed his attacks. It took forever to whittle the dragon down with its high AC and stoneskins, but eventually the bullets (at leats 120 of them) did the job.
Posted Image

Loqi buffed to the max and used a sunstone bullet at the altar and charged the Shadow Lord with his Flail of Ages - this was effective.

Loqi then headed to Umar Hills and ended his session. He restarted the session, and Dogdancing re-rolled a new character, basically same as Bait except no lore. This is important but she only has 89,000 experience, so she's going to be pretty under-leveled when we get to the Underdark, but that's life in a no-reload, Loqi will definitely have to carry the party for some time...

After equipping Gum, Bait's friend, the duo reported their success to the Immesvale mayor. This got gum to level 5 thief. Lots of Chapter two things have already been done, so this will be interesting to do the remainder of the quests/battles.
