A group of drow priests, a drow war party and kuo-toa are little concern. A faceted machine is emptied with care - the moon dog being a valuable help due to the 5 minute duration.
The swirf stoneshape scroll has been used and "Chud the drow" is considering which of the three nearby caverns to explore. Chud is wary of the chittering illithid, not certain his cloak of mirroring will suffice against beholders and is thinking the kuo-toa breeding pool is safest. Or maybe not.

Somebody else can deal with the illithid, Chud isn't that brave, evidenced when he goes west and is scared by a beholder and two gauth. Their repeated dispels sort out his panic, and various slows and holds (hindsight, was Arbane offhanded - can't remember but it would appear not).
A group of demon knights have a bad day, Chud taking care to fight one or two at a time and with the proper buffs in place. The kuo-toa prince has been tainted so Chud tries a smite then a critical strike. 2 out of 3 ain't bad.
(Glad to have that out of the way, a couple of nasty moments there)

On the Sword Coast his experience reached 250,000 before undead drained it to 100,000.
Experience now just over 100,000.
No restoration available in DSoSC even at temples.
Str 19, Dex 20, Con 19, Int 14, Wis 17, Cha 18.
On importation he became a Tiefling Crusader with all proficiencies in Two-Handed swords and Two-Handed weapons. A crusader can have no proficiency points in any weapon other than two-handed swords, and cannot use ranged weapons. However he can be more skilled in Two-Handed swords than other paladins. Carsomyr in his hands should be lethal! However, he has got to get it first!

The Avatars tried to rest on the roof of Spellhold before engaging Irenicus and BlackStrider turned to Slayer. Pot couldn't outrun him and was slain in two hits (should have cast stoneskins instead of running away, my fault, sorry Pot...). Krimlor rose him from dead and one more rest before facing Irenicus. The fight was a bit messy as I forgot that Secret Word could shut down Spell Turning (and Alesia has one memorized...) so we were forced to wait till his numerous Mantles and PvMW expired (enduring his spells and fighting gated demons) but eventually he gave up.
We escaped the Brynnlaw just to be caught by Sahuagins. Made some thinning in their population sided with Prince and then robbed him blind for Wave Blade. Sold all our jewelry to local temple (strange enough but this time their prices are the same as on continent...) and just descended into the great depths of the Underdark.
Current state:
BlackStrider: Blade(20), 203 kills (Shade Lord);
Alesia The Curious: Mage(13)/Thief(15), 72 kills (Shade Lich); (1 death);
Grond The Pathfinder: Archer(15), 251 kills (Bone Golem);
Cassia The Furious: Shapeshifter(14), 421 kills (Greater Wolfwere); (1 death);
Krimlor: Fighter(12)/Cleric(13), 300 kills (Kangaxx the Demi-Lich); (1 death);
Pot The Selfless: Mage(16), 43 kills (Koshi); (2 death).
to be continued...
Edit: Glad to meet you here, Wise! :happy: Safe travels in Amn!

The Underdark has been exited, leaving the illithid alone but dealing with Deirex the lich. After a lot of inventory management (getting compulsive!) it is time to do a bit more.
The de'Arnise hold is crossed off the list, with ** in flails this means the FoA can replace the long sword with flame.

Mekrath is dead, as is Tarnor the Hatchetman. iMod/Harmony made a mess of the feeding pit (the lich went in a couple of rounds then the buffs saw two greater mummies beaten to a pulp before the mace destroyed the remaining undead).
The cloak of mirroring/shield of Balduran overkill combo allows Daystar backstabs and FoA bludgeoning for the Unseeing Eye.
What is left before chasing down Bodhi all looks fairly dangerous too, should be fun trying not to make a mistake.
- Planar Prison
- Planar Sphere
- Guarded compound
- Twisted Rune
- Firkraag

Koshi is the first victim of the lesson and with Celestial Fury equipped the battle gets much easier. Sion and the divine caster are attacked from the shadows (post dispel) and then Maferan gets more of the same. Olaf is next, finally Ketta shows herself long enough to be boomed and fails to survive the follow-up.

That leaves the Twisted Rune, Firkraag and no doubt the hidden illithid (who shall stay hidden).

He didn't expect that to work, but the lich takes heavy damage and only Firkraag is left - Chud isn't sure he will bother though.

@Serg: Like the others, I am impressed with your SCS run with the Avatars as well. My games with SCS didn't last long, not even with an optimized party - I certainly think the Avatars don't qualify as such. Regardless, I hope you can maintain your concentration, be awesome if your Avatars can make it to Melissan (your group should have huge amount of powerful summons by that point, which could be handy).
I will get back to Corgrunt soon - he is still trying to recover from his horrible battle at Watcher's Keep - he isn't particularly happy that 66% of his party died in that battle.

Kitthix is stomped on by Irenicus but this has given Chud time to glug two magic blockers and with 100% resistance all that is left to do is choose his weapons - FoA and Belm then. The first GWW removes an illusionary Irenicus and proves the real deal is open to attack after a targeted dispel, and a second GWW undoes him.
Oh, & reached the level cap (8m xp, stalker 34) from Niz. 1444 kills - Bodhi.

Wraith Sarevok is susceptible to Celestial Fury stun.
The Blackrazor sword is reluctantly handed back.
A nameless peasant is spared.
The Dragonslayer longsword protects against fear.
The dragon is spared.
Chud glugs 3 more potions (heroism, speed, invulnerability) before using the fifth tear.
Irenicus turns into the slayer and illusions himself away while Chud removes two balor and two glabrezu. The illusionary slayer is also susceptible to Celestial Fury.
Slayer Irenicus is located and a dispel fired but despite some buffs dropping he is immune to both Celestial Fury and the Flail of Ages. Chud moves back to equip the Tuigan shortbow and sees a maze spell heading in his direction.
Magic resistance : Still 100%. Mwahahaha. Irenicus smirks as an arrow goes wide but this is the Tuigan bow and arrow number 2 dispels before his grin fully forms. Chud moves in with the FoA and Dragonslayer.
Irenicus takes a GWW beating and once more two of them are enough. Go play in the lava Jon.

Illasera seems to be alone so he removes his sword and punches her. No black reavers, no red slayers either. He returns to stun her with Celestial Fury and her life is over.
On to a pocket plane, where Sarevok is raised and set loose. Gavid explains a challenge and Chud ends up fighting Sarevok, Irenicus and Bodhi again. With them dead Chud returns to find Sarevok still alive and suggesting Chud head into Saradush.

Edit: That pesky Melissan arrived to remonstrate about Gromnir falling to pieces, Chud was more than a little annoyed since both he and Karun the Black were sneaking around trying to find each other - wait until we've finished please.
On to the Marching Mountains wilderness where Karthis al-Hezzar purchases a lifetime supply of armour, axes and swords. Chud is at least 100k richer so forks out for a rod of resurrection

The chromatic demon draws the short straw. Between the Roranch horn, hardiness and AoF Chud has 115% blunt resistance so can content himself by breaking the demon down slowly. He has 8 GWW's and uses all of them, the demon finally giving in half way through the last one. Chud has several more hardiness, 2 AoF's, a WW and 4 improved hastes left so plenty in reserve.
He decides to call it a night, not sure whether to return outside or venture further (shield of harmony and Dragonslayer sword should counter most of the next level but it is still one I'm wary of).

Chud spoke to Yakman and killed 2 of 3 cornugons despite an anti-magic zone de-buff. A balor killed the third cornugon by this time so Chud set about it in a casual manner - no GWW for example. All of a sudden Chud was on the floor from pretty much full health.
I tried again to see what happened and after surviving a dozen or so relatively light hits Chud went from 90hp to zero. Then I CTRL/Q'd to check again and decided there must be a vorpal effect (can remember someone finding a modded version do this - Anonymoushero and Atweaks I believe - but didn't realise the unmodded game had a similar effect; now believe modded was 100% vorpal and unmodded a random percentage).
Having searched I found this link. Quote below;
"The Balor in BG2 isn't resistant to physical damage. He only has 120 hp
and 2 attacks as well, but he uses a vorpal weapon with a 15% chance to
kill instantly (No save, doesn't bypass resistance)."
So, need to stay away from maze / imprisonment characters, be protected from ranged maze / imprisonment by the likes of Irenicus / Layene / demi-liches and keep a distance from balors (which will leave stalkers open to their horror effect I guess).
Back to Candlekeep at some point.
