Presumably the Greenstone Amulet would protect against the sleep effect, so if you made sure you had it fully charged before combat it might give a monk a safe® option if you wanted to melee.

Greenstone amulet and potions of magic shielding either do nothing or are dispelled, PfM is not dispelled but doesn't help.
