I love to read this topic! You guys and girls make everything seem so easy.

That's kind of you to say. I'm glad you're enjoying the thread.

I would like to play a party with 3 or 4 characters only pure classes/kits (no multi or dual) after my first solo run.

Sounds fun. Feel free to join use when you get around to it: the more the merrier.

Cheers,

A.

Cusp - dwarf swashbuckler (hour 15)

On entering the Planar Prison Cusp was able to set a trap, restealth, get out of sight of Aawill, attack the mage and hide again - resulting in his death with no-one the wiser.  That allowed Cusp plenty of space and time to lay some more traps and summon some friends for a simple victory.

A combination of stealth shots and stealth fireballs allowed Cusp to make progress in safety - a couple of yuan-ti mages coming to investigate only found traps, while the Master of Thralls followed some summons into more traps without spotting Cusp.  The same trick was tried with the Warden, but he killed all Cusp's summons without following far enough to trigger deadly traps.  However, by that time he had used his most potent spells, so Cusp went to shoot him up from long range.

After a rest, some more stealthy fireballs finished off the warden's yuan-ti supporters (level 21) and Cusp went to release Haer'Dalis.  The game transitioned back to the inn - and crashed.  There's no autosave on that transition so Cusp had to do all the fights again (groan) ... 20 minutes later I saved the game before reporting to Raelis - but once again the game crashed after the transition.  I concluded that perhaps the programmes I had open for some stuff I was doing for work were interfering.  After closing them I tried again - this time successfully.

My hour for the session was up, but I decided to extend it to compensate for the wasted time in the Planar Prison and headed to the ruined temple at Umar.  Cusp ignored the initial undead in the area and went straight into the temple.  The first lich there was severely damaged by traps, but actually died of walking on a firepit.  The second one's supporters have just been finished off - though Cusp was forced to switch from straight melee to stealth attacks when both greater mummies hit together (although I'm allowing the use of potions, habits are hard to break and I haven't used any extra-healing potions in the run so far).

With time now up the lich will be finished off next session.

Cusp - dwarf swashbuckler (hour 16)

The second lich in the Umar temple was duly trapped, opening the way to Thaxy - fortunately Cusp was able to jump out of the way as his body came crashing down.  The Shade Lord survived a sunray and one blow from Daystar, but was hit again before he could complete a spell.

Back in Athkatla Cusp got the shadow dragon armour forged and donned that. Then on to Windspear Hills where, after a detour back to his store in the PromenadePosted Image, Cusp returned some acorns.  Chieftain Digdag was cut down at the entrance before the berserk warrior triggered a kamikaze kobold allowing Cusp to finish off a rakshasa without any pain (and writing this up I've just realised that I forgot to take Ruhk's ringPosted Image - though I probably wouldn't end up using it anyway so shouldn't be any real loss).

Cusp wasn't quite able to defeat an adamantite golem in straight melee, so finished it off with stealth attacks.  A sunray on a group of vampires was less effective than I hoped so Cusp had to do a mixture of traps and stealth attacks to finish a number of them off - getting his first HLA in the process.  That took a bit of time, so there were only a couple of minutes left in the session - enough to take out 3 greater werewolves, an air elemental and a couple of stone golems, but another adamantite golem will be shot up next time.

Cusp - swashbuckler L24, 96 HPs (incl. 8 from ioun stone), 729 kills

Gate70/Grond0 Multiplayer attempt 26 {2} - (update 9)
Stiel, halfling assassin (Grond0) & Andal, human bounty hunter (Gate70)

With the kuo-toa having been finished off last time we had a discussion about whether to go with the beholder or illithid next.  We decided to go with the former and raced into their precincts to get out of sight of the elder orb as quickly as possible.  After dealing with the drow that made it easy to maze the orb from around the corner and trap it on its return.  We didn't bother with most of the other beholders - just picking up the greenstone orb.

On to the illithid where we had fun.  There was lavish use of traps, but also plenty of high-octane action as the duo used their boots of speed to out-pace the lumbering illithids before turning for backstabs.  It was interesting to see that the Master Brain could be mazed - that demonstrated that essentially it's pretty thick as it was the last of the inhabitants to return for disposal.

With UAI now active Stiel read a scroll of freedom and tracked down Vithal.  The first elemental was backstabbed, while the next two were trapped - that still left enough traps left to deal with Vithal.

The drow ambush on the way to Adalon were counter-ambushed - Andal using a maze trap to take one end of the bridge out of action, while normal traps made the other end suffer.

After buying a few things in the city they were sent out again to rescue Phaere.  Some pre-laid traps had killed the casters with Boz's party, making the remainder pretty easy targets.  However, on arrival at the designated area there was no sign of Solaufein.  Going back to the city found him still skulking there, although the journal had been correctly updated.  Resting and reloading the game didn't help so we will need to console him into the correct position at the start of the next game.

Stats:
Stiel, assassin L25, 114 HPs (incl. 10 from ioun stone, 12 from familiar), 618 kills
Andal, bounty hunter  L25, 94 HPs, 594 kills, 7 deaths

Cusp - dwarf swashbuckler (hour 17)

After shooting an adamantite golem up Cusp confronted Tazok.  He experimented with Celestial Fury's abilities sending a lightning bolt against Tazok and then using blind - the latter was very odd: it appeared to affect enemies all over the place and did stop Tazok chasing, but disappeared as soon as Cusp engaged him.

Conster was trapped before Cusp quickly ran through some more golems and werewolves.  He then briefly returned to the City to drop off some lesser-used equipment.  Also read a find familiar scroll there - carelessly forgetting about the Cowled Wizards.  For safety he quickly laid traps and spent 10 minutes summoning more of the mages using his RoAC - none of the mages survived the initial trap damage in any of the groups .

Back at Windspear the guardians were mainly trapped, though Cusp's 100% dispel illusions ability got used a couple of times.  Samia's casters used their stoneskins to survive initial traps, but were quickly finished off without bothering trying to bring the time trap into play.

Firkraag was another to ignore the insect setting traps beneath his feet, without considering that some insects have venomous stings!

There was just time in the session to report to Garren and take the dragon scale back to Cromwell to be forged.  Cusp will report in to Aran Linvail next session in order to pick up the amulet of power.

Cusp - swashbuckler L26, 114 HPs (incl. 10 from ioun stone, 12 from familiar), 787 kills

Corey_Russell/Dogdancing Multi-Player Update
Loqi - gnomish fighter/cleric controlled by CR
Chunky level 18 fighter>thief, controlled by Dog

So the duo does their final task for the Yaga Temple, get the final heart. Well we get it, but then we fought Imix but Chunky got feared and ran over the repeating traps a number of times and died, but Loqi managed to finish things off.

Then we tried to deal with Nylee - little trouble here - for one, Nylee survived the previous spike traps we had set, the other was chunky got slain. But the biggest problem is Loqi's weapon was only doing 1 damage per hit to the shambling mounds due their blunt resistance.  Eventually Loqi ran away and brought back Chunky so she could help with her slashing damage - took a while but finally Nylee and her mounds slain.

For Yaga's camp, the duo did some summons, but basically concentrated on Yaga himself with several GWWs and that did the job.

Next up was challenge #2, and it was our hardest yet - we had trouble killing the counterpart Loqi and he was killing the real Loqi - RoR heals were the only thing keeping him in one piece. But eventually multiple-GWWs and hardinesses finally got it, with Chunky's and summons help. Then Semaj fell, and finally challenge was done - whew!

At the end the session we looked at stats, and Chunky's was amusing:

Cusp - dwarf swashbuckler (hour 18)

Paid Gaelan Bayle and reported into Aran Linvail.  Used the temple to take off the Claw and replace it with +2 ring.

Via Mook and a Guild Contact Cusp made his way to vampire HQ.  That would be no real challenge now anyway, but to save time he used a protection from undead scroll (resting before talking to Lassal downstairs).  A few traps and a Gaxx haste saw the back of Bodhi.

After forging the IMod Cusp reported back to Aran and was sent to Brynnlaw.  The vampires on arrival were no danger so Cusp just meleed them rather than resting to avoid them.  The only other encounter in the town was with Perth - he obviously has a touch of draconic blood as he failed to notice 3 traps being set round his feet (one would have been plenty).  Once again his book of infinite spells provided only disappointment.

On to Spellhold where Cusp used a fake talk strategy on the demon to avoid spoiling any of his stats.  Inside, he picked up the bag of holding and went to work on the inhabitants.  By the end of the hour he had cleared the level of everything except yuan-ti (the lich got a first use of Carsomyr then IMoD during a time-stop WW).

Cusp - swashbuckler L30, 123 HPs (incl. 11 from ioun stone, 12 from familiar), 888 kills

Gate70/Grond0 Multiplayer attempt 26 {2} - (update 10)
Stiel, halfling assassin (Grond0) & Andal, human bounty hunter (Gate70)

Today's session started by consoling in Solaufein in order to rescue Phaere.  Andal took a slight detour on his way to a shopkeeper and was tasked with recovering Qilue's brain - that was quickly done, though her servants were left to mourncelebrate their status as the new owners of a house.

The tasks in the city started well with the death of a beholder, recovery of a gnome helmet and presentation of Solaufei's piwafwi as 'proof' of his death. However, things then went a bit pear-shaped.  On the way to the temple, the duo noticed that Solaufein was under attack and he died before they could come to the rescue (I think that was as a result of leaving traps in the area after killing the beholder).

Solaufein had not been carrying his fake eggs so Phaere was presented with the real ones.  To prevent those being given to a demon the duo attacked the Matron Mother at the start of her ceremony.  Andal mazed Phaere, but found himself similarly afflicted (looks like the Matron Mother had spell turning up).  That meant Stiel had to keep her busy with some poison darts for a while until Andal came back and did the job properly.  However, there was no sign of the eggs on her body - I think there must be an egg thief in that city!

That meant that the duo gave up any thoughts of playing fair with Adalon and trapped her instead before fighting through some kuo-toa and drow to escape the Underdark.  Drizzt was told to go away on the journey to Athkatla.  On arrival at the Promenade Andal was in a store when Kruin arrived to talk - causing the game to hang.  Next time we'll deal with Kruin before unpacking equipment.

Stats:
Stiel, assassin L26, 116 HPs (incl. 10 from ioun stone, 12 from familiar), 632 kills
Andal, bounty hunter  L26, 96 HPs, 601 kills, 7 deaths

Update 2.14; Trust Noone!

I know, I know I have some catching up to do… stop poking me!

We returned to the slums in order to deal out justice to some slave traders & get a diamond to upgrade the horn then back to see about that black dragon.

Pretty standard;
Tashia sent out a Hakeashar to soak up his opening shot then dropped 'Deathfog' whist Puk put down a 'Fire Storm' but it was the good old triple shot 'skull trap'- 'Spell Sequencer' that dealt the killing blow to both the dragon and later the shadow alter he was guarding.

Bugs?
Apparently Cassia can wear the black dragon hides armour in this build and I know that Druids can wear animal skins but the (Shapeshifter) kit description says {Cannot wear any armor} so I ruled it illegal and gave the armour to Edward instead.

Update 2.15; Trust Noone!

With a taste for dragon hunting we set off to Windspear hills… rumour has it that the gem we need to upgrade this horn again is also there so we skipped the whole damsel in distress subplot and attacked the castle.
Surprisingly the vamps gave us the most trouble because Puk couldn't fully 'turn' them yet but he still managed to instil fear into them and that made things simpler for Cassia once we remembered to lock out their mind tricks.

Dragon time;
I tried something a little different this time and sent in just the one Hakeashar with a trailing 'Insect Plague', the idea being that even if the plague fails to take hold the Hakeashar will still soak up any magic that big red can hurl at it… worked like a charm and without his spells Daemonique *could easily tank him.

p.s. he goes hostile as soon as he sees the plague coming.
* Daemonique has a fire resist of 127.

Update 2.16; Trust Noone!

The fire resist got me thinking and Tashia was keen to try out her new 'Spell Trigger' so she packed it full of 'Sunfire' and we rescued Haer'Dalis from the bard prison beneath the Five Flagons Inn.

My standard opening is to step through the portal invisible because that byes me a round or two to get into a nice position before the fun initiates so this time I just let Tashia stroll off on her own to trigger the trigger.

Posted Image

Not only did she toast the pack but the trigger targets herself and is therefore not considered a hostile spell so it does not break stealth and any survivors walk pass her to attack Cassia i.e. she remains invisible after firing it!

Cusp - dwarf swashbuckler (hour 19)

The yuan-ti at the exit to the first Spellhold level were treated to a first use of Cusp's wand of cloudkill.  The yuan-ti on the next level seemed in an atypical position, but a WW finished off the mage anyway.

After dealing with other inhabitants managed to kill one of the vampires before succumbing to the lure of the slayer.  Cusp added some furry and rubber boots to his collection before leaving.

Lonk died in traps laid on his first appearance there and Cusp moved on to confront Jon.  An opening WW of acid arrows had him at near death, but he managed to spawn a clone - that died in the remainder of the WW.  A second WW of arrows saw Jon on his way.

On to Fish City.  I thought I had detrapped everything on the way to the Spectator, but obviously missed one - good job it wasn't maze.  Avoided conflict on the way to the Prince, apart from picking up the Cloak of Mirroring.  However, realized here I had also forgotten to talk to the priestess again.  Went to get the Orb, but as I expected the Prince was already hostile anyway, so had to be disposed of.

Cusp reported to the King and received a magical rope to descend to the Underdark.  He's just cleared the first group of drow with some cloudkills and a WW for the survivors.

Cusp - swashbuckler L33, 129 HPs (incl. 11 from ioun stone, 12 from familiar), 989 kills

Update 2.17; Trust Noone!

We were so impressed with this new trick Tashia had that we payed a visit to the guarded compound in the temple area and let her attack some demons with it but none of us really wanted the blade we found so we dealt death to the murderer hiding out in umber hills.

Posted Image

Next Tashia made some evil halflings crisp & Puk tested the "Jerrod's Mace" in order to get the heart needed to power our return trip.

Update 2.19; Trust Noone!

Mostly ran around saving Tashia from one creep or other;

First her ex- boyfriend gives her the old "I'm sorry but I'm good now… honest."
Then Bodhi kidnaps her and we had to put up with a pretentious prat long enough to have Tashia raised again.

Posted Image

Actually Puk made quick work of all the vamps and I only remember this bit because the silly sook was so distracted about being kicked from the party that he didn't notice where he was walking.

Rapping things up… we bashed our way into a Mind Flayers den in order to get the final piece of Puks' hammer then shoved a spike trap up Kangaxxs' backside to give Cassia a new ring.

Final Update; Trust Noone!

We chickened out of fighting for the "Staff of the Magi"… mostly because Tashia didn't want it.

Posted Image

The elves needed our help to kill the black dragon but spike traps made this simple… well, messy but simple.

Posted Image

With the city safe we moved on to Irenicus… "I'll see you in hell" he says as he drops… and he really meant it.

Edward passed all the trails (mostly) good… I allowed Valando (being a scallywag and all) to fudge the rules a bit and pickpocket the tear so that he could keep the longsword without turning anyone evil.

The last stand;

One Hakeashar and two sets of traps (one at the door and one as a fall back) completes my preparation and we open the door to find the fates are twits.
R1, Irenicus shows up and the cut-screen kicks in (ignoring my traps) to summon demons.
R2, My party retreats to the second traps with demons in hot pursuit whist Irenicus turns to deal with the Hakeashar.
R3, The traps kill one and Puk makes fast work of two more but Irenicus stops time to mince my pet and rape a helpless Puk.
R4,  Edward tosses a trap to remove the remaining demon for a while and runs away in order to rez Puk while the party collects his gear and pops some adds… notably Peanelian from Tashia because he is immune to time effects.
R5, My party scatters but Irenicus stops time again and wins.

Three mod issues;
1.    The Tashia romance script is broken for non-good aligned players and Edward (being pure neutral with high reputation) had to resort to devine meddling in order to see the final events… still a very worthy mod imo.
2.    Removing the traps from around the door is somewhat understandable because they cause problems with the cut-scene. I suggest something like a note is found by the door…
Dear Edward,
I hear you like to place traps before opening doors… I've taken steps.
Irenicus

Or
You notice a proclamation inscribed on this door… by devine decree, no traps allows by this opening.
Signed Destiny!

Both are easy to script and give the player fare warning that you have changed the game rules.
3.    Edward was killed by a triple 'Chaos' & triple 'Flame arrow' fired from 'trigger/ Spell Sequencer' during a time stop.
I don't mind the (interesting) usage of 'Chaos' or the fact that he picked on Edward as this is a boss fight but at the time of firing, Edward was on the other side of the map and well out of line of sight which makes his death due to blatant cheating… game over!

Cusp - dwarf swashbuckler (hour 20)

Released the prisoners from the giant soul gem - traps ensuring none of them were dangerous.

Helped the gnomes - Cusp shot arrows at a balor until it moved forward slightly to trigger a time trap.

Freed Vithal and WW'd some elementals for him before laying a few traps for his return.  He should have died in the time trap, but I didn't notice he'd put PFMW up.  Oh well - a second time trap with Tansheron equipped with normal arrows soon did the job.

At the kuo-toa compound the only thing done was to trap the demon knights (3 dying in 6 standard traps and the last 2 in a time trap).  On to the beholder hive where Cusp ran past the elder orb before stopping out of sight to wait out its initial true sight. Cusp did have the Shield of Balduran in his backpack, but didn't bother with that - 3 WWs just blasting through the elder orb's stoneskins.  He then picked up the greenstone amulet and left.

Initially I was thinking not to bother with the illithid area, but after not taking Ruhk's ring of fire resistance I thought perhaps Cusp should pick up the ring of fire control.  That was duly done, while none of the illithid managed to get the critical they needed to hit Cusp before he smashed the master brain - it didn't even get the chance to summon its normal brain golem defenders.

The session ended with Cusp practicing his abilities at setting traps under feet before WWing Simyaz.

Cusp - swashbuckler L37, 138 HPs (incl. 12 from ioun stone, 12 from familiar), 1,060 kills

Zetran and friends, minus Anna, have made it past Sarevok and also made it out of Irenicus dungeon. Only fighter/clerics are allowed this run, thus, the party will be complete once we recruit Anomen. For the first time, no one leveled doing Irenicus dungeon at all.

Yes he poped stealth (always a risk) to rez Puk and lay traps... the mod fires by script without testing los (range).

I'll return with a new character soon guys... good luck all!
