I actually lost Nalia that way in my first playthrough. The worst part about it was imagining what Lady Delcia would say...

Anyhoo. Best of luck Polytope!

Tlaloc - wild mage (update 13)

In Brynnlaw a planetar saw off the vampire ambush (level 25 - comet).  For Perth Tlaloc got out of sight in a corner of the room in order to safelysummon some skeleton warriors to finish him off.  My terrible run with the Book of Infinite Spells continues - Tlaloc moving past invisibility to see burning handsbook.

On into Spellhold where Tlaloc lost some constition during a nightmare where only a pair of mordy swords saved him from an enraged Bhaal.  After seeing Imoen on her way Tlaloc went in search of the bag of holding.  That resulted in his most difficult (or anyway time-consuming) battle of the level, due to being unbuffed against a clay golem with immunities to most of his offensive options and out of most summons.  In the end he just abused the staff of the magi invisibility to finish it off.  After resting, the normal summons rapidly took him through the rest of the level (level 26 - already got all HLAs).

The next level was also straightforward - Tlaloc picking up boots of grounding and the north from the machine.  So it wasn't long before he was ready for the showdown with Irenicus.  That was handled badly as Lonk died unexpectedly resulting in Tlaloc going into the battle with Irenicus unbuffed.  However, the planetar dealt with the renegade elf, promoting Tlaloc to level 27.  Some murderous backstabs bounced off stoneskins before Tlaloc went to find Saemon.

He sailed away, but despite trying to fend off boarders with 2 Wiltings and a first use of Dragon's Breath Tlaloc had to abandon ship and ended up in Fish City.  His buffing's been a bit erratic lately and that nearly proved costly as he walked over an acid trap. further along he was a bit more cautious, putting up spell immunity against maze, but managed to avoid stepping on a trap anyway.  The Spectator was successfully persuaded to give up his prize tooth before a planetar used a somewhat more aggressive method to obtain the Cloak of Mirroring for Tlaloc.

Tlaloc agreed to help the Prince and had killed the King and his guards before the Prince turned up.  Annoyed at having to do all the work he rested with a view to teaching the Prince a lesson as well.  That was a bit more difficult than I expected as both attempts to get a planetar surged, but mordy swords and skeleton warriors were easily capable to managing on their own.  Tlaloc has just shinned down a rope and ended up in the Underdark.

Gate70/Grond0 multiplayer attempt 27 - (update 1)
Antimel, half-elf fighter/druid (Grond0) & Sajome, half-elf fighter/druid (Gate70)

Really this should be update 2 as the warrior druids had a quick run through the dungeon last night that I didn't get around to writing up.  That went pretty smoothly up to successfully killing Ulvaryl.  However, relaxing slightly with that achievement was not a good idea as the battle mage scared us both - fortunately a few nymphs were around to make sure that wasn't a problem.

Today's session saw some decent progress, but also rather scrappy play and a bit of luck was needed.  Things started calmly enough with restoring the circus and passing control of the Copper Coronet over to Hendak.  However, the problems started as soon as the duo descended into the sewers.  I had thought that insect plague would be able to put the hobgoblin shamans out of commission, but casting it came at the expense of Sajome getting held.  In addition the otyugh was attracted by the noise and made it difficult to concentrate on finishing off the hobgoblins.  As a result Sajome was actually held again before the second shaman met his end.

The attack on Captain Haegan and his merry men was much better controlled - the priest being shut down by insect plague and the captain subdued by nymphs.  The trolls were finished off with Flame Blade spell.  However, the slaver mages caused more problems.  Sajome got caught in a confusion spell and soaked up a number of follow-up spells.  Antimel tried to take the fire onto herself, but a final magic missile was just a couple of HPs too many for Sajome to handle.

After being raised at the temple and going back to collect equipment the duo invested their earnings to date in paying Gaelan Bayle and getting a nice pair of ornaments from Aran Linvail.  While at the Thieves Guild they started the Mae'Var quests and soon collected a necklace at the temple area (comfortably defeating the Suna Seni ambush on the way).  After dropping that off they spotted Hareishan snacking on some thieves and tried attacking her - probably not wisely given that they had no weapons that could hurt her and very little spellpower at the time.  Eventually Hareishan was abandoned in the local inn, while the duo rested elsewhere; then came back to produce a fire elemental each to do the hard work.

Elementals also dealt with the stone golems in Rayic's house.  The intention for Rayic himself was for Sajome to go upstairs to draw his fire while Antimel followed on afterwards to shut him down with an insect plague.  However, Rayic chose to target Antimel and sent her running round the room.  Fortunately Sajome had two more plagues in her locker and they prevented Rayic from any more successful tasks - he was already about to die of insect bites before a summoned fire elemental got the final whack in.

The remaining Mae'Var tasks have been completed and the next session will commence with an assault on the guild.

Stats:
Antimel, fighter 9 / druid 11, 98 HPs (incl. 5 from Helm), 254 kills
Sajome, fighter 9 / druid 11, 80 HPs, 234 kills, 1 death

Seemed like every fighter onboard had some sort of strength/speed potion. I probably should've rested before doing the slave ship, as I managed to get my PC slowed (should've prepped with free action) after Keldorn failed to dispel one of the wizards buffs and then got surrounded by hasted fighters with 19-20 strength. Had to use a few scrolls to get rid of them.

Suna Seni ambush went pretty well, Suna was the only enemy affected by Nalia's Chaos but she managed to stab two of her fellows to death and the mage foolishly stood around throwing melf meteors at Nalia after her stoneskin was dispelled (the meteors were not dispelled as they are created by script for SCS mages) so was taken out quickly.

(forgot to mention 1PP in my mod list, among other visual changes it gives Arbane's a kewl flaming sword graphic)

Image IPB

This mugger in the bridge district I remember as being something of a hazard with SCS (previous version anyway), because he summons other invisible thieves who backstab and Keldorn had used up his true sight casts. However, the mugger needs to speak to you to summon his friends:

Image IPB

Notable randomized items: Ring of Djinni summoning on Kalah, Sleeper flail as reward from Hendak, rod of Lordly Might on Haegan (at least this creates a magic weapon for Salek), protector of the second armor in CC (this is useless but sells for more than 1000 gold). Also got a minor sequencer scroll from Kalah instead of  the usual stoneskin, this is better for our party as Nalia already has stoneskin.

That's not good news. Potions for NPCs may not be working in my setup then.

I may have to re-install and or revert to v15. I'll keep close tabs on the potions in upcoming encounters so we can compare.

EDIT: Akira just fought Reti and Camitis: No potions at all. That doesn't seem right to me.

Btw. Nice work so far Polytope!

What are those purple bottles in quickslot one? Are they healers with a different icon?

Tlaloc - wild mage (update 14)

In the Underdark Tlaloc bought a freedom scroll and learned that.  Vithal was soon freed and skeleton warriors and mordy swords, along with some area damage spells, helped beat a path through to the svirfneblin village to get his book (level 28).  Vithal was then helped to recover treasure from the elemental planes.  Tlaloc sent in a planetar along with some skeleton warriors to try and relieve Vithal of its weight, but it got imprisoned (still counting against the summoning limit so another couldn't be produced).  Vithal was able to summon vast numbers of monsters, which allowed him to survive the skeleton warriors and mordy swords Tlaloc had in his known spells, so, unusually, Tlaloc had to take a hand directly - an incendiary cloud cleared away some summons and a couple of wiltings from out of sight range finished off the mage.

Even after resting Tlaloc couldn't summon another planetar, so he had to free the original to generate a new one.  That helped him to empty the giant soul gem.  Back at the gnome village a collection of skeleton warriors, together with a mordy sword and a planetar was just enough to deal with a balor.

On to the kuo-toa compound, where a surge cost Tlaloc over 20,000 gold when trying to summon assistance - oh well, not much to buy anyway and he's got a number of items stashed in his pack that he can cash in when necessary.  The prince's regeneration was a potential problem, but Tlaloc's energy blades did just enough damage to allow some skeleton warriors to finish him off.  A standard mix of summons had no trouble with the demon knights (level 29).

The kuo-toa on the bridge were kind enough to drop a control undead scroll - one of Tlaloc's few missing spells below level 8.  He then went invisible and invaded the beholder hive - getting out of sight range before the elder orb's true sight triggered in order to generate summons.  The other elder orb imprisoned the planetar, so skeleton warriors and mordy swords had to finish off the area (level 30).

After freeing the planetar Tlaloc moved on to the illithid area.  Staff invisibility allowed him to get out of sight range of umber hulks in the arena - and thus safely summon a mordy sword for support.  For the second battle, only a single kuo-toa was near him to start with and rare outings for the berserk warrior and efreeti soon got rid of it to allow some more solid summons to be brought in - a planetar then went through the ogre rather more quickly than most of my solo characters can manage.  Unbuffed planetars didn't last long against illithid, but giving them improved haste and invisibility made a big difference and Tlaloc made rapid progress through the city.  His lack of buffing himself caught him out against the Master Brain, but, fortunately, by the time his contingency Otiluke wore off the planetar had killed all the opponents (the final brain golem was killed after this screenshot).  Tlaloc got his final level there, though 1 HP and no new spells won't help a lot).

A planetar chased away Simyaz' attempt to get the Silver Sword and Tlaloc proceeded along to clear away some more drow ambushers on the way to see Adalon.  He was duly transformed by her and safely entered Ust Natha.  After talking to Solaufein he came out again and listened from a distance as the planetar finished off Boz & Co. to get Tlaloc up to the 8m XP cap.

He's just rescued Phaere to finish the session - a rare use of improved alacrity there when it looked like an umber hulk was attacking Phaere (probably an unnecessary risk as a surge in that situation could have annoyed Phaere).

Tlaloc - wild mage (update 15)

The remaining tasks in Ust Natha were quickly done and Tlaloc set out to switch the eggs at the temple.  On the way he decided to investigate Deirex's tower in case there were any nice gems there.  The planetar killed the demi-lich and the gamble paid off when scrolls of contagion and remove magic were found - only wraith form and mass invisibility to go below L8 spells now.

At the temple the Matron Mother and Phaere both received a nasty shock.  The demon offered a magic item for the eggs and, foolishly, Tlaloc agreed.  He's now the owner of a halberd he can't use and committed to fighting Adalon - who I think killed my last wild mage to make it into the Underdark.

After selling the lower value things in his over-stuffed bag Tlaloc left the city and rested before moving on to Adalon.  For her he initially generated a planetar and a couple of skeleton warriors, while buffing himself - including a Tenser's Transformation, in case of any little mishaps along the way.  3 lower resistance scrolls were used initially and he then stood back out of sight and went through 5 wiltings and 2 incendiary cloud scrolls, while his simmy kept up a volley of his own spells.  Adalon healed herself once, but never came to investigate where the pain was coming from - the pressure eventually told and she keeled over.

Tlaloc sneaked past more drow and out of the Underdark.  After being interrogated by Elhan he travelled back to Athkatla - telling Drizzt he wasn't wanted on the way.  On arrival there was no sign of Kruin - presumably he's hassling the drow merchant in Ust Natha that Tlaloc sold bits of the silver sword to!

A visit to the Adventurer's Mart saw Tlaloc exchange some of the items in his bag for new spell scrolls before he moved on to the Graveyard District.  He used staff invisibility to avoid the initial ambush and bring in some summons before heading into the vampire lair.

The vampires couldn't hurt the planetar and 2 of them cleared the top level.  Downstairs, a single wilting had Bodhi whining and a second one finished her off.

Tlaloc took the Lanthorn and reported back to Elhan - he has just opened up Suldanesselar.

Maybe enemies prioritize potion use differently if they see a solo caster? Have they been using potions of clarity, magic resistance etc.?

Unless I'm missing something, how can you be sure an Otiluke-on-self contingency will work?

Salek update: Exposed the tanner, buffed well before fighting his rune assasins because they are fairly high level and almost guaranteed to have good potions which I might get if I defeat them quickly (I've got the option for 1/3 of enemy potions to break in combat). Well, one drank a potion of magic shielding, but I still got 5 invisibility potions (great if ambushed!).

Did Harper quests after without resting (silly), Sanasha killed Nalia after Keldorn failed to dispel her buffs - I ended up using the potion of firebreath to deal with her. Unusually early for a party member to die .

Anyway, found the equalizer pommel jewel in Harper hold, and rose ioun stone in Prebek's house. Started thief quest (just to get more gold and gems, didn't talk to Mae'var yet as he may have a time limit). Also found a scroll of invisibility 10 foot radius, which will be useful to avoid random ambushes... the improved bandits give me some headaches in the early game.

Anyway, with 3 of my party invisible and Yoshi hidden in the shadows we travelled around town; talked to the boy in the guv'mint district and the trademeet dude at city gates and bought scrolls of spell immunity (thanks randomizer!) and MST for Nalia. No breach, alas. I like having Yoshi around, apart from backstabbing and scouting having a non-good thief lets me justify my supposedly good-aligned party receiving a lot of stolen goods... :innocent: buuut I've looted enough for now (already at 18,000 gold) and Valygar will be more useful than Yoshi in every other respect so dismissed him before setting out to Umar hills.

Found speed boots in Umar cave and got the ring of lock picks and girdle of fortitude as a reward for saving Jermien, by which I mean I felt the ring was a lousy replacement for Ilbratha so stole the girdle from a chest in his house.

Currently finishing up Nalia's keep, had Keldorn use the girdle of bluntness and our only potion of agility before fighting the hulks and golems (well, it was that or he'd need about 10 healing potions). Found boots of avoidance in place of the Elven court bow, also dragonslayer longsword instead of frost axe (equippable immunity to fear is good, Valygar will use this sword off hand) and cloak of the sewers in the cellar. Now I just have to not screw up the final fight with Torgal and his Yuan Ti mages.

Current party: Salek; PoL 9. Keldorn; Inquisitor 9. Valygar; Stalker 8. Nalia; T->M 5->11. Our crew looks a bit short-staffed and under leveled (I'm playing with lowered XP from locks/traps and spell scrolls)...

Tlaloc - wild mage (update 16)

Before entering Suldanesselar I thought Tlaloc should investigate whether the Twisted Rune mages had any spell scrolls.  Thinking about that I realised that Tlaloc had also not picked up his stored items from the Promenade so went to do that first.  Eventually Tlaloc arrived at Umar Hills.  I thought this seemed like a good opportunity to try out his new chain contingency spell (I don't remember using that before).  A triple wilting contingency was pretty slow to trigger, but duly wiped out the mages when it did (Fael had already been killed by the planetar).

Back at Suldanesselar Elhan was still waiting by the entrance - cautious fellow that he is.  Tlaloc began making his way round the city accompanied by a planetar.  That proved momentarily dangerous when the planetar was attacked by Raamilat's pit fiend.  I've noticed before that your allies sometimes assume that demons are on your side when being attacked by them and Tlaloc had to run some distance before losing the pursuing planetar.

Nizi was confronted with a few summons and a couple of pierce magics were followed with a PW: blind.  Now helpless, he was hit with various magic damage until dead.  Surprisingly, only 1 of the skeleton warriors chose to take exception to the incendiary cloud and ice storm raging around them.

At the temple another wilting chain contingency killed the nearest enemies - allowing Tlaloc just enough space to produce summons out of sight to deal with the remaining golem and rakshasa.

Inside the palace he picked some nuts and then proceeded on to the Tree of Life.  A couple of mordy swords were used on the parasites before the main event.  Tlaloc immediately moved away from Jon, leaving a skeleton warrior behind to suffer a death spell during a double time-stop.  A second warrior was sent in and, slightly to my surpise, was able to resist all Jon's spells and gain the kill.

Down in hell Tlaloc found himself becoming yet more powerful:
# he conquered his pride - +20% fire, cold, electricity resistance
# he had no need to fear anything with a planetar around (remove fear spell) - immunity to +1 weapons
# he felt the urge for self-sacrifice - +10 magic resistance
# he was obsessed by the desire to own (yet another) sword - +15 HP (again the planetar went hostile after killing a pit fiend and Tlaloc had to run him round until he disappeared)
# he felt Sarevok deserved a damned good thrashing - +2 Strength

Tlaloc set another wilting chain contingency for the final fight with Jon, but it was wasted by triggering before the demons appeared.  He therefore retreated and pulled out some summons to deal with them (in retrospect he should have used his wand here to avoid using up his main summons).  The two skeleton warriors remaining after the demons were not sufficient to deal with the Slayer, so Tlaloc brought out a simmy. That used NRD (for the first time in normal gameplay) to cast true sight and then used PW: blind.  However, he didn't manage to do damage quickly enough to overcome regeneration.  He used pierce shield and pierce magic scrolls and then tried again with his own PW: blind, but still could not do damage quickly enough.

Next, he had a go via stacked cloudkills - the Slayer chasing his immune simmy round in 8 or 9 of those.  With the game slowing to a crawl, it still wasn't clear that strategy was going to be enough though, so (with the Slayer showing at injured status) Tlaloc brought out his time stop scroll and hit the slayer with a full load of energy blades + a few MMMs in addition.  That still didn't seem to be quite enough (though Jon may just have been delaying his speech), but some more MMMs fired during a Tenser's Transformation finally did the trick.

Here's an updated list of all surges (including BG1) I've noted up to the end of SoA.  As you can see, once your saving throw offers protection against petrification, the chance of being killed directly by a surge is remote.  An indirect death, e.g. by being held, is far more likely, but this can be guarded against by not relying on spells when in direct combat.:

I've never used Otiluke's in combat, however, in testing I found that it ignores spell protections and doesn't allow a save when cast on self. Those properties make it well suited to certain no reload applications. I'm personally contemplating using it as a fail safe when PW:S might be in play.

Ummm. I'd like a lemon popy seed cake, please. And if you could replicate the Pacific Princess's farewell disco party from the Love Boat season 2 special that would be great, too. And maybe a pony! I like ponies! Oooh! And chocolate galoshes with little bunny faces on them! And a bushel full of tea-cup piglets that will never grow old! And a pterodactyl! Yeah! A pterodactyl! But a vegetarian one- because it would be totally gross if the pterodactyl ate the tea-cup piglets. Or worse yet the pony. Or me! Or the lemon popy seed cake! Ok: scratch the pterodactyl. I'll get back to you on the last item.

That still didn't seem to be quite enough (though Jon may just have been delaying his speech), but some more MMMs fired during a Tenser's Transformation finally did the trick.

Congrats Grond0! I never thought you'd make it. Excellent work. Now go get Mel!

Gate70/Grond0 multiplayer attempt 27 - (update 2)
Antimel, half-elf fighter/druid (Grond0) & Sajome, half-elf fighter/druid (Gate70)

The half-elves managed decent progress in the end today, although they struggled to overcome problems at Watcher's Keep.

The session started with an assault on Mae'Var's guild.  There were around a dozen thieves in the entrance hall, which was more than expected and they did manage to get through Sajome's ironskin and do a bit of damage before being overcome.  Downstairs things were easier, thanks to the assistance from a fire elemental.

The next target was Watcher's Keep.  A couple of fire elementals were summoned there; potentially they should be pretty useful against vampiric wraiths as the wraiths' weapons don't hurt them.  Unfortunately the wraiths have a nasty habit of chasing characters in preference to the summons and it proved difficult to get the elementals into the action.  That resulted in Sajome being caught by the long arm of the lawwraith 3 times in all.  On the third occasion she died though Antimel managed to get a bit of distance from her chaser using a potion of speed and lock herself in a room - the elementals were then able to finish off the wraiths with no more trouble.

To try and get a bit of their own back the duo assaulted the statues on the first level.  Elementals again formed the core of the strategy, but insects did a fair amount of damage and a nymph managed to hold one statue as well.  The only thing useful left in the first level was the Crimson Dart - a strength potion will be needed to access that.  I had been thinking that Usono's blade would be useable by Sajome, but it is a ninja-to blade and, though it shares scimitar proficiency, can't be wielded by druids.

Back in Athkatla the duo did a bit of work in the Bridge District.  Initially that included fending off some thieves set on us by a vampire, at the same time as an assault by muggers.  After collecting the berserker horn (Sajome doing well to keep out of trouble during the long wait while unintelligent Antimel was mazed), they went to see if Captain Dennis could spare any suits of full plate armour.  Interestingly it was possible for Sajome to continue to take action while Antimel waited in a dialogue screen - meaning that summons were able to launch a pre-emptive assault (also causing Antimel a slight problem as she tried to find the right dialogue option with the screen scrolling down rapidly with attack reports).  The preparation made the battle pretty easy and, as it turned out, there were 3 sets of full plate in the booty, so there was no need to squabble between themselves over who got the armour upgrade.

With the improved armour an assault on the Rune Assassins to solve the skinner murders seemed easily achievable - and that indeed proved to be the case.  The Fallen Paladins fared no better - Anarg was the only one who could hurt elementals and he was held by a nymph right at the start of the combat.

Stats:
Antimel, fighter 9 / druid 12, 99 HPs (incl. 5 from Helm), 273 kills
Sajome, fighter 9 / druid 12, 81 HPs, 245 kills, 4 deaths

Haven't thought about it much - which is a problem in itself of course (the final fight with Jon in SoA was much harder than it needed to be as a result of not gearing preparation specifically for him)Image IPB.  Off the top of my head I think the fights that might cause a problem in managing resources would be Mel and Sendai, but there will probably be plenty of opportunities to make mistakes before getting that far anyway.

Draconis is defeated.

Unlike with Alisa the Jester his human form skipped starting Wish proceeding right to the gating Demons and Efreeti followed by two Time Stops. Planetar quickly dispatched the initial Invisible Stalkers and Demons fell instantly upon arrival to Planetar's Globe of Blades. Noting that Draconis doesn't have Spell Shield running *project* Pot Spellsriked his defences followed by Breach via wand prompting his quick defeat. While switching into the Dragon form Draconis destroyed all our summons by script, scared Pot and engaged right into BlackStrider's Spike and Time Stop traps. BlackStrider hit with Pierce Magic (to bring down his Spell Turning) and Breach via wand followed by some free hits. At near death Draconis healed himself while badly wounding Grond and Corey with his breath. Krimlor was protected vs Acid so stood his ground, Pot called for another Planetar and together with Alesia cast Pro vs Acid on Grond and Corey. Draconis hit hard Grond and Corey with wing buffet but as we were near entrance they didn't flied too far away and soon our three warriors continued a GWW assault while Pot cast ADHW. Next round Alesia claimed the trophy with another ADHW.

I'm glad we made it past Draconis Serg. Nice work!

(Be careful with Tamah: It'll be hard to protect everyone from a crushing damage breath weapon.)

Best,

A.

Thanks, Alesia! And what should I be aware of vs Drakes? From youtube videos I concluded they have cold damage attacks so cold resistance should be put on. Something else maybe?

Well done Serg - keep it going against those dragons!

Tlaloc - wild mage (update 17)

Tlaloc got underway in ToB against Ilasera.  She used a death spell to get rid of his initial summons, but he was able to hide behind an obelisk and bring in replacements to finish her off.

The game crashed as he was nearly at the end of the first pocket plane challenge, so had to fight it again.  No particular trouble with that - primarily used mordy swords in the middle of wand cloudkills.

On to Saradush where Tlaloc opened up access to Lazarus Libraries (for a change telling Hectan about the danger of the teleportation scroll).

After arranging a hotcold date Tlaloc found himself in the prison with a bunch of vampires.  Staff invisibility let him lock himself in a small room while producing a planetar in support and the vampires quickly evaporated.  He then had no trouble moving through the prison to the entrance to the palace.

In the palace Tlaloc swiftly moved out of sight of the first group of enemies and waited out a couple of true sights.  A pair of cloudkills then killed all but one of them.  There was a similar approach upstairs, with staff invisibility being used to keep the enemies in cloudkills.  Tlaloc just summoned a single mordy sword to apply the finishing touch to Gromnir.

There was a slight problem in the North Forest as all the enemies there had a follow-invisible script.  That meant Tlaloc could not get safely away to bring out his preferred summons, but eventually he chanced it and produced a mordy sword.  He quickly added more summons and soon cleared the area.  Selling goods to the merchant there allowed him to return to Saradush and buy a variety of potentially useful scrolls from Lazarus.  He's now learned all possible spells with the exception of wraith form and summon planetar.

In the pocket plane he reviewed spells for a while and did a bit of experimenting with Wish (which I've never used in a game) and Shapechange - I was disappointed to find that he couldn't cast Tenser's on himself in conjunction with Shapechange.  Also set up his new Spell Trigger.

To save time and potential problems Tlaloc used a scroll of protection from undead at the Forest of Mir - that meant no one tried to attack him when he was held by a surge (although he wouldn't have been trying to produce energy blades there if he hadn't been protected).

At the Marching Mountains a triple-Wilting contingency and Energy Blades used under Time Stop killed several of the Bhaalspawn, but Merlinious and Tibbit managed to escape.  Tlaloc has just worked his way to the entrance to the Fire Giant Temple.

Gate70/Grond0 multiplayer attempt 27 - (3rd and final update)
Antimel, half-elf fighter/druid (Grond0) & Sajome, half-elf fighter/druid (Gate70)

Things were going well today - until they weren'tImage IPB.

The Sir Sarles quest was done - he had the rare privilege of working with some real illithium (as the IMoD is no good to us anyhow).  As a follow-up the Dawn Ring was returned to the Temple of Lathander.

The duo then set off to Trademeet, only to turn back when Renfeld finally called out for help (far later than in most games).  Prebek and Sanasha were dealt with neatly - they confused Sajome in one corner of their house, but missed Antimel sneaking into the other and covering them with insects.  You might ask of course why chaotic commands weren't used - who needs that spell anyway.

After ransacking Harper HQ the duo were accosted by Tanova and a couple of her buddies.  They had just finished dealing with Lassal after failing to save Mook and had 2 fire elementals with them, so felt fairly confident about taking on vampires.  Antimel, who was wearing the Amulet of Power, tried to occupy their attention to allow Sajome to use her spells, but one vampire insisted on chasing her.  That only went on for a short period when this happened:

Both were dominated at almost the same instant, so there was no chance to react (other than to say, oh that's who needs that spellImage IPB - which Antimel did actually have memorized at the time).

Sad news, guys... Engaging vampires unbuffed vs domination is not right move, I think... And again, don't be shy with buffs - I know, you are speed-runners and all that but... well, you know.
