Great going Grond0 with the wild mage! Sorry about the multiplayer run - hopefully more druids will take out Mel. There's something appealing about the thought of Mel falling in a swarm of locusts.

Thanks, Alesia!

Not a problem. Recall also that her claws and breath weapon can both put you to sleep. The claws offer a save v death at -2, but the breath weapon offers no save. Take her out quick.

And what should I be aware of vs Drakes?

All energy attacks except elecricity. Their respective spells will cause acid, cold, fire, and magic damage. Their claws also do a bit of magic damage which is something to be wary of.

On balance, they can be a nuisance for some solo characters, but for the Avatars they likely won't be much of a problem. Dispelling melee weapons are golden against them. Corey will be our hero once again.

Best,

A.

@Gate and Grond0. That's a bummer about the druids. Do you intend to give them another chance?

Do you mean because the spell description says it offers a saving throw?  In my installation (Fixpack & BGT) there doesn't seem to be a saving throw.

I've never used Otiluke's in combat, however, in testing I found that it ignores spell protections and doesn't allow a save when cast on self. Those properties make it well suited to certain no reload applications. I'm personally contemplating using it as a fail safe when PW:S might be in play.

I thought this sounded strange because I remember Otilukes allowing a save in past playthroughs and if not it would be more powerful than Maze in most respects (ranged, ignores MR, takes a target out of play for a whole turn). I just found out it's another bug introduced by the G3 fixpack. If fixpack wasn't required by SCS I'd stick to the old Baldurdash...

Btw. Nice progress with the Wild Mage Grond, Solo WM strikes me as one of the hardest builds to get through this challenge. Good luck with Ascension Abazigal, Serg.

Salek update: Completed De'Arnise Keep, fighting trolls is almost as interesting as watching paint dry... well actually the final battle was pretty tense.

Since we're low level/underequipped I kind of cheesed this encounter by pulling Torgal from his minions (he's the only one that can see invisible characters) and slaming one of the cellar doors behind him (well I had the keep master key so let's pretend we locked it). This turned out to be a smart move as he made his MR check against both of Nalia's Slow spells and his save against Blindness and was only beaten with a great cost in healing potions. Annoyingly Valygar's morale broke after being hit a few times inspite of Remove Fear/dragon slayer offhand and using a Resist Fear scroll on him failed to cure it (this confirms my suspicion that morale failure of NPC's is impossible to prevent bar keeping them in good health), so Salek had to tank for a while; it took so long to kill the damn troll that strength of one wore off.

Posted Image

Next an elder umber hulk barges in (worth more XP than Torgal even though it's much easier to kill). Buffs have worn off so rest before tackling the last of the trolls/Yuan Ti mages.

Posted Image

Interestingly they've returned to their starting positions inspite of having chased us throught the cellar last night; Keldorn succesfully dispels one's buffs and dices him (boots of speed are great for catching up with fleeing mages) and Nalia's chaos spell confuses the other, who is finished off with ranged weapons.

Found the last flail head on Torgal and the girdle of stone giant strength and cloak of non detection in the statue, good items for Valygar.

Send Keldorn to spend some time with his family and join Korgan to get the book of Kaza, my PC priest is too absorbed in giving last rites to the cruelly murdered Pimlico to notice Korgan looting the dead man's house, oh well, guess he won't need these potions.

I also found the ring of regeneration somewhere (Pai'Na, I think).

The Rakhshasa in the sewer was annoying to fight without Keldorn or breach thanks to his illusions and AoE spam.

Posted Image

He also started running around in fear after being hit by the mace function of the Rod of LM, fear is actually an awful effect for a melee weapon as it forces you to chase enemies, thankfully most of them save because of the +5 bonus. We got him eventually:

Posted Image

Got the mirror for Mekrath and freed Haer'Dalis, my party is probably going to do Eyeless cult next I (if I leave it much later more beholders will spawn instead of gauths). I haven't fought SCS improved unseeing eye before, can anyone comment on the difficulty?

I couldn't agree more. Every new Fixpack is more and more Tweakpack which messes far too much with things it shouldn't. Unfortunately, BG2 EE will be based upon it, so we might see Archers in Blue Dragon Plate running around.
GL with your run, I'm gonna enter the challenge as soon as I find a few hours to play.

No.  They lasted long enough to get a decent feel for them and there are still quite a few classes not tried yet.

Tlaloc - wild mage (update 18)

Tlaloc set up a chain contingency before going into the Temple, but then made the mistake of trying to rest there instead of in the Pocket Plane.  A fell cat appeared and attacked - this sees through invisibility - and Tlaloc had to take the first healing potion he's had for a long time before eventually managing to distract it with some summoned worgs.

Finally inside, the triple-Wilting contingency was joined by another to kill one giant and hurt some others.  Using staff invisibility Tlaloc then used cloudkills.  That worked OK, though it took quite a while to get through all the potions the elite giants have.

There were no problems in working his way through the Temple - using Simulacrum and Project Image to spin his spells out.  There was one amusing surge here from the simmy - as if the troll's regeneration wasn't bad enough to begin with.  Moving into the Upper Temple Tlaloc summoned more help to put the fire giants down and moved on to Imix.  The only slight glitch there was that I had concentrated on protecting Tlaloc against Maze and fire damage and forgotten to put stoneskin on - but he survived a spike trap.

Back at Nyalee I got caught napping when she cast a sunray on a summoned skeleton warrior - it responded violently, but fortunately she was a forgiving sort and didn't get upset (at least until she'd got the hearts).  When she did get angry she died almost instantly when the planetar chopped her head off.

At the Siege Camp Tlaloc damaged Yaga-Shura and then used a mordy sword to keep him occupied while cloudkills killed his companions and almost finished him - a couple of batches of ogres just applying the final touches.

Tlaloc went for the overkill strategy in the second pocket plane challenge.  A triple wilting contingency killed Semaj and badly wounded Tlaloc - a load of energy blades during a timestop finished him off.  Tamoko and Angelo then fell under assault by summons within the next couple of rounds.

The problem at the oasis was that everyone was detecting invisibility by script.  While running round Tlaloc put up a couple of lots of summons from his wand before taking the risk of summoning a planetar.  With it up, other summons soon followed and clearing the area didn't take long.

On to Amkethran where Tlaloc had a few battles with mercenaries, monks (and mercenary monks).  Somewhat carelessly, he didn't kill the monks attacking the smugglers quite quick enough and the smuggler shop was closed pending resurrection.  He rather muddled through Vongoethe as well when his triple wilting contingency only killed a mislead and his own Otiluke contingency fired for some reason - perhaps a teleport field or a malison counted as a hit to trigger that.  Fortunately he'd already brought out a planetar and that killed Vongoethe while Tlaloc was out of action.

He's just moved on to Abazigal's Lair and is preparing to face Draconis.

Edit: incidentally, up to the end of SoA Tlaloc had not used NRD at all apart from in testing. During ToB, however, he's used it extensively - for things like opening chests, putting charisma up for shopping and providing extra summons outside combat.  As a result, he's had numerous surges and I think I've lost count of those a bit.  Unless anyone is particularly interested I'll probably not bother recording them at all in future.

Tlaloc - wild mage (19th and final update)

Once more Draconis proved to be my nemesis as another character dissolved in acid.

Tlaloc initially set up some delayed-blast fireballs near the entrance before trying to use a project image to create some summons.  It was immediately polymorphed, so Tlaloc created a planetar himself and went to annoy Draconis.  His wilting contingency bounced off magic resistance, but the planetar eventually persuaded Draconis to change form before disappearing.  The dragon then came to find Tlaloc near the entrance - totally ignoring the delayed blast fireballs exploding next to him (as did Tlaloc, so I presume the spell doesn't work - never tried using it before).

Taking a potion of speed Tlaloc ran round and produced some summons, but most of those quickly evaporated in acid breath.  A re-created triple-wilting contingency did manage to do decent damage while Draconis was occupied with a planetar though and Tlaloc tried attacking with energy blades during a time-stop hoping to finish him off.  16 or 17 of those had no effect at all though (not even registering as hits), so I guess that's another instance where time stops with dragons hit a bug.

Tlaloc occupied Draconis with a mordy sword, while using breach, MMM, improved haste and Tenser's to try and attack during normal time.  However, Draconis healed himself before he could press home the attack as well as killing the sword with a chromatic orb.

Another sword (from scroll) again occupied Draconis, but Tlaloc's MMMs were doing no damage.  After a number of hits the fire damage did start taking effect (having worn through minor spell turning), but the base damage did not - even after another breach (is Draconis' stoneskin supposed to be immune to breach?).  Draconis, annoyed at the attack, turned away briefly from the sword to breathe on Tlaloc - nasty as Draconis had been more successful with breaching Tlaloc than vice-versa and only Tenser HPs kept him alive!

Tlaloc reprotected himself from acid via scroll and tried using a number more MMM and breach scrolls, but without success.  Eventually he dug his lightning wand out of his pack (for the first time in the game) and had a go with that.  That hit the first time he used it, but in successive strikes bounced off Draconis' apparent infinite supply of minor spell turning.  Tlaloc then got buffeted and was trapped by a bunch of invisible stalkers.  That was accidental, but as they can't hurt him, I used them as shields while trying different things against Draconis.  After giving up on lightning Tlaloc had a brief flirtation with the wand of fire, before switching to the old favourite of cloudkills.  That prompted Draconis to use breach and try breathing again, with Tlaloc only just getting another scroll protection up in time.  There were just enough stalkers left to still provide protection and Tlaloc kept pouring in cloudkills.  They were starting to make significant progress and Draconis was at badly wounded when he breathed again ... and Tlaloc died.  I didn't notice it happening, but I presume Draconis must have breached him again before that.

In retrospect that tactic would be a good one to try again, but with the use of spell immunity to protect against remove magic and breach - I did think of that during the combat, but never quite got round to itPosted Image.  An alternative could have been to use cheesy wild mage tactics (like chain contingency improved chaos shield to guarantee NRD success followed up by a succession of your favoured 9th / 10th level spells), but I was avoiding those.

Condolences on the loss of Tlaloc Grond0. That was an interesting run nonetheless. Minimally, you set a new high water mark for wild mages. Congratulations!

Btw. Can you clarify one thing? Were you using Protection from Acid green scrolls or the mage spell Protection from Acid? If it was the former, did you find that they were breached away or was the problem that you only had 50% resistance to acid?

As a reminder, the mage spell Protection from Acid provides 100% resistance, however, it can be removed by breach. The green scrolls are unbreach-able (at least in the installs I've tried), and while they only provide 50% resistance, Potions of Magic Shielding can be used to fill out the remaining 50% (The potions too are unbreach-able). If I expect an extended battle with Draconis, I'll typically draw out his Remove (or foil it with SI:A) and then layer in Protection from Acid (green scroll) + Potion of Magic Shielding. That's an approach worth remembering if the mechanics are the same in your setup.

In any event, best of luck with your next run!

A.

I was using the mage spell. I didn't realise the green scroll was unbreachable and hadn't brought any of those along anyway - thanks for the tip for the future.

@Grond0 - Sorry to hear of Tlaloc's demise - great progress for a solo wild mage I would say.
@Grond0/Gate70 - sorry to hear the end of the druids.

And yes, I am back now, my chess tourney has finished - only 2.5/6.0 so nothing to write home about - was fierce competition though with more than 30 masters battling in it.

Draconis ends another promising run... Any idea what you'll solo as next Grond?

I ended up heading off to the temple ruins rather than completing the eyeless cult now, because Nalia found some much needed scrolls. Also got scrolls of ProME (Mekrath's place) and Ruby Ray (lady Yuth). We'll be ready to take on high level SCS mages as soon as Nalia levels up a bit. Keldorn's still on leave with his family but Korgan is more useful in the shadow temple anyway. Recruited Anomen because Salek isn't going to stay a priest for much longer.

Defeated the pirates in the sea's bounty and Mencar's crew; Valygar got confused in the second fight but mainly attacked the enemies (which is why confusion/chaos is only useful against spellcasters and thieves). Mencar had the Doomplate and Efreeti bottle, also I killed that damn cheating thief and got his invisibility ring (not randomized).

Why was I searching for an invisibility 10-foot-radius spell? This is why:

Posted Image

(there are two invisible enemy thieves accompanying these guys)

Now I could assasinate the mage instantly with the wand of frost before she gets her protections up, but Salek is LG and fights fair.

Posted Image

The backstabbing thieves and the mage (with meteors) picked on Salek and got him to about 50% health, also since one of the two enemy clerics immediately cast Greater Command on my party, he might actually have died here if I hadn't buffed (we've retreated to lure the mage and priests out of the teleport field she cast).

Umar hills temple was v straightforward up to the end fight, found rod of smiting, giant hair crossbow and blackblood; nice weapons if any of us had proficiency in them...

Boss fight; everyone needs to be protected from the Shade Lord's level draining aura and from death magic, Nalia casts SI:Necromancy, PC casts boon of Lathander, Korgan goes berserk and Anomen casts NPP on Valygar.

We run up the stairs; Salek and Korgan start attacking Shadow Patrick (no point in attacking the shade lord yet because his starting buffs include ProMW and he's immune to normal weapons), Anomen runs out of the radius of his aura, Nalia casts secret word and breach on the main baddy then breach again to remove the blade barrier he just cast. Time to pile on!

Posted Image

However, the shade lord has good THAC0 and hits hard, and has also cast PW:Blind on Korgan, making him a bit useless (Korgan? Useless? Never though I'd say that...). Maybe I should've memorized Cure Disease.

Anomen was the only one without death ward or spell protections, guess what happened when I let him wander into the shade lord's line of sight?

Posted Image

Nalia eventually finishes him off with a flame arrow. Salek hit lvl 11 and dual classed to fighter immediately after raising Anomen. My party won't be fighting the shadow dragon for a while because level drain is very dangerous for a recently dual classed character... That's right, you die if drained to zero levels in your new class.

Say goodbye to Korgan (I'll miss this crazy little guy) because I need to level grind a bit, back to Athkatla to do fallen paladin's quest for easy XP (totally unfair slaughter, even with my low level PC) recruit Keldorn, go to trademeet, then immediately have to go back to Athkatla beause Nalia is abducted and Anomen's sister murdered, Jan provides us with a handy Invisibility-10-foot radius spell (if you think I'm being paranoid... you're right, but my PC is low enough level to get instakilled by a chromatic orb, so have to avoid bandit mages for a while). Took revenge on Saerk... what can I say, I've got a vindictive mind, anyway, Anomen isn't long for this party.

Think I got the periapt of life protection from defeating the Dao in trademeet, and the bastard sword of searing (great, another nice weapon no one knows how to use... Valygar would like a permanent +3 weapon) as reward from the guildmistress... does anyone care about the stuff I find? Might limit my catalouging to the really crucial items and spell scrolls (brought Improved Haste from trademeet smithy, it wasn't moved).

Just realized that Valygar and Keldorn are only ever going to get another 2 proficiencies each (in this SoA XP cap run) should Valygar specialize in axes or bastard swords? =]

I haven't rolled anything up yet, but I was contemplating another wild mage.  This one would be given a free hand to indulge in dubious wild mage tactics, such as stacking chaos shields - should be some fun available as a result of that.  To balance the difficulty level they wouldn't be allowed to cast any spells except NRD and Bhaal powers.

BG1 should be easy enough with those restrictions - no need to cast any spells at all in that.  The later stages of SoA would also be easy, but I suspect the early stages of SoA (particularly the dungeon) would be pretty hard and some luck with surges would be necessary.

Gate70/Grond0 multiplayer attempt 28 - (update 1)
Focus, human totemic druid (Grond0) & Diffy, human invoker (Gate70)

After completing BG1 this duo have started their adventures in Athkatla by making their way out of the dungeon.

With totemic summons available in addition to spells the enemies didn't cause much in the way of problems.  The only slight concern was that the radiant mephit in the portal room managed to put Focus out of action, but a spirit lion soon mopped up the last 2 portals.  Ulvaryl struggled to get past various summons to get to grips with her intended victims and was rapidly mown down.

Here are their records on exit from the dungeon:
Posted Image
Posted Image

Stats (incl. BG1):
Focus, totemic druid 11, 61 HPs (incl. 5 from Helm), 52 kills
Diffy, invoker 9, 40 HPs, 46 kills, 0 deaths
Kills for the duo are so low due to the large number of victims of totemic summons.

Best wishes guys!

FYI: After a week on a grueling schedule of eating lemon poppy seed cake and watching Love Boat re-runs, I'm now ready to continue playing Akira. The plan is to finish her run before I leave for Quito in November (I nixed the Mexico plan and went with Ecuador instead). I'll probably resume posting this weekend.

Best,

A.

Lucky the Wild Mage entering BG 2 portion of the Trilogy No-Reload Challenge...

Lucky has made it past Sarevok and successfully escaped Irenicus' dungeon. The only thing of note during the escape was during a battle with goblins, Lucky tried to sleep them but instead held himself - his party saved him though.

Not 100% for sure who will be in the party, but for now going to try Korgan, Minsc, Jaheira, Yoshimo and Aerie.

Well done Corey.  The no-save hold effect is the one that worries me most as a solo player, but I guess it's not such a problem for Lucky.

@ Alesia glad to hear you're continuing with Akira

@Corey, are you aware Aerie won't stay in a party with Korgan forever? Most NPCs can cope with his crudities but not Aerie. Congrats on keeping a wild mage alive through BG1 anyway.

Alesia_BH wrote...FYI: After a week on a grueling schedule of eating lemon poppy seed cake and watching Love Boat re-runs, I'm now ready to continue playing Akira. Sounds like a good holiday, some friends of mine have been to Ecuador (well, one grew up in Colombia) and it seems interesting enough.

Salek continued. The "noble" merchant in trademeet had the Cloak of Reflection for sale (~5500 gold), a good item to have before confronting the druids (we got the Nymph cloak somewhere and it's useful for Keldorn because his Cha is raised to 20, the max for discounts in stores). Druid grove was pretty uneventful, until we run into an elder earth elemental with magic powers! Some unexpected interaction of aTweaks and SCS here, I guess.

We prudently run away from the elemental (who'd turned invisible), back to Trademeet to rest and prep with Invis-10-foot radius (I was assuming the elemental can't see invisible characters). Return to grove and buff before confronting him:

Posted Image

The elder earth elemental broke invisibility with an earthquake, everyone except Nalia failed their saves... Chaotic Commands prevents the knockdown effect of earthquake, even though it shouldn't since it's not a mind affecting spell... OTOH free action doesn't prevent earthquakes from knocking you off your feet and my party has no other way to protect themselves. Good thing my fighters weren't left helpless because this elemental turned out to hit pretty hard, be magic resistant and needed a +3 weapon to injure.

Druids were silenced with Namarra and the one who made his save was interupted with elemental damage.

Posted Image

The druids guarding the cave were quite high level, Keldorn failed to dispel their buffs and one even had a potion of superior healing. Maybe I should've prepped with death ward and memorized cure disease spells against a possible cast of Nature's Beauty but in the end flail of ages, ice arrows and crossbow bolts of lightining interrupted everything they would've cast.

Posted Image

Let Cernd fight Faldorn without joining him... the "safe" option, he always wins if not in the party. Found Harbringer sword in the troll nest, sold it for 3000 gp. Angered the Rakshasas before I meant to, will deal with them later (improved raks in a confined space are not easy).

Windspear hills next, the bandits in Garren's cabin include a surprisingly high level cleric who opened with Unholy Word (though it was her last word), maybe I should've cast Death Ward on Salek in the round I had to buff.

The hills are easy for the most part, although most creatures seem buffed a bit (since when does an orc hit for 18 damage?). Robe of the Good Archmagi in the well (nice!). Tazok had cloak of displacement, the orog chief had gauntlets of dexterity. Improved vampires were bypassed with invisibility (not going to risk it without AoP and Boon of Lathander), they don't seem to wander around as in vanilla.

SCS creatures tend to follow sanctuaried characters (not attacking unless they see through invisibility), this turned out to be to our advantage as the stone golems followed Anomen away from the adamantite golem (who was guarding Water's Edge scimitar) making the fight a bit easier.

Conster is probably too high level for Keldorn to dispel but he didn't have fireshields in his prebuffs and used ProMW instead of mantle, so was simply surrounded by our hasted fighters and cut down with normal weapons, he only managed to summon a Mordy Sword. Garren's kid is free but we won't be messing with the dragon just yet.

Did Samia's quest next, tomb guardians improved a bit, they turned invisible to bypass my protected frontliners and hit Nalia/Keldorn with flame strikes and fireballs. Oh well, Nalia's fire resistant and Keldorn has a lot of hp.

Battle with Samia's party, the door was blocked and we couldn't get at the enemy spellcasters, but finished off Kaol quickly with ranged weapons after dispelling his stoneskins, Keldorn scored a good crit here.

Posted Image

Found flametongue long sword and dwarven thrower in the tomb, the former is noteable because it counts as a +4 weapon in terms of what it can hit, good for bypassing mantle.

Rumors reach the party's ears of Watcher's Keep with it's fabled potion case and ammo belt (inventory management always starts to get annoying around this time). In keeping with me making a dumb mistake every update I thought I could avoid the Vampiric Wraiths by going clockwise around the level, but they ambush us as soon as we open the door in the room with the sculpture (SCS calls for help might alert them), level draining undead with infallible THAC0 are one thing my (unbuffed) party can't deal with and we need to use a couple of oils of speed to escape them. Among other things, got the Paladin's bracers here, gauntlets of dexterity are usually more useful for Keldorn but the bracers might see some use in battling enemies against whom +4AC is useless anyway, like dragons, or those damn Vampiric Wraiths...

Since we're scared of level drainers, return to Athkatla intending to pay Gaelan and get the AoP. Party has 67,000 gp after buying all the scrolls and potions I need, with Wisp's randomizer there's nothing else in the stores of Athkatla that I really want... I consider buying the plate of Balduran for once.

I am aware of their bickering, yes. It's not a big deal, we just replace her if she leaves or get another party member. Also not too long ago, I had a similar party and Aerie stayed in the party a long time.

Lucky the Wild Mage - Update 2
Traveling with: Minsc, Korgan, Jaheira, Yoshimo, Aerie

Lucky is still alive and yes he is casting spells! As is his policy, he almost never casts on himself, except he will do stoneskin after Aerie casts protection from petrification on Lucky (to protect on the one possible fatal surge when self-targeting).

Incidents of note:

* Circus - with Jaheira's true seeing, no problem here.
* Graveyard - just a quick stop to get a +2 axe for Korgan
* Crypts - this portion was extremely difficult for the team - in fact a lot of deaths! We had to rest in the graveyard a few times so Jaheira can raise the fallen. I was worried Korgan would complain about all the time it was taking us, but we managed to get to the area Korgan wanted and leave.
* Pimiloco's (or however he spell his name) and Shagbag - our team did well, Jaheira's insects was a big help here.
* With the new found cash, we purchased the 10 extra healing potions at Watcher's Keep, since we were so low on potions from Korgan's quest.
* Suna Sune ambush - pretty clean battle here, was a bit dicey at first though, as my wife was distracting me right then - fortunately I had presence of mind to pause until she went away.
* The party freed Hendak easily - cloudkill being too much for the beastmaster or his beasts to handle.
* The party's melees badly needed armor/shield upgrades, so we took down Tarnor's gang. Nope wasn't a fair fight - we did massive buffs on Lucky, just in case, then the casters did all the mojo they could muster (stinking cloud/silence/cloudkill/holy smite) - this took out all the enemies without having to engage in melee. The resulting armor/shields/helmet was a big upgrade for the team.
* Now we were ready for Lilacor's quest - no problems here.
* Moored Slaver Ship - using all the resources of the team, not much trouble here, Some odd surge happened when Lucky cast on Captain Haegan, he got some blue circle around him, not sure what happened. Nothing unusual happened for the rest. Lucky used stinking cloud/fireballs/cloudkills to take out the mages here.

With the new cash, we purchased Stonefire so we can kill trolls and headed to D'Arnise Keep.

Salek, final chapter 2 adventures:

Run into my first major (reload inducing) glitch: Went to assassinate Rayic (maybe this bug is punishment for going against my alignment?), on the first floor are aTweaks improved mephits, the magma mephit's heat aura is supposed to tick once per round but instead ticks about a hundred times per second:

Salek was left standing thanks to protection from fire. I could have continued and resurrected my party later but I wasn't in the mood to play until I got this fixed (I previously noticed the same bug with Blade Barrier ticking dozens of times per round instead of only once, though it only destroyed a skeleton that time).

I opened the TobEx_ini folder, went to tobexcore.ini and set "Cast Spell On Condition Mod" to zero - just a guess on my part as to the cause - it seemed to fix the mephits. Fingers crossed we won't see anything else like this.

Now that we're back on track: Rayic fight, he used Improved mantle (blocks weapons of less than +5 bonus with SCS) and fireshield, so we can't rush him.

He also wandered into the far corner of the room, so tried Keldorn's dispel, no luck. Fortunately his only offensive spell (in the two rounds it took for Nalia to debuff him) was greater malison, he was diced immediately after breach (didn't have time to rebuff with a trigger).

Maevar and his guards are slightly improved but still pretty easy, didn't bother to screenshot. Keldorn's dispel failed to remove his buffs but he was affected by Nalia's Chaos and unable to cast any spells; found staff of curing and bone club in Maevar's chest, and ashen scale armor on Maevar, the last two were sold.

Party buffs were still up, so dealt with Dracandros and his gang of bandits in the bridge district:

Little mistake here, had Nalia cast Secret Word instead of Spell Thrust, which removed Drac's globe and didn't remove his MST, meaning he couldn't be breached. Interrupted his casting anyway (...some conjuration spell, perhaps summoning a demon?) with Holy Smite spells. Rest of the fight was simple, found Necardan's crossbow and the gloves of pickpocketing here (sold the gloves for 1500 gold, apart from being LG, stealing in a no reload is not worth it imo...).

Paid Gaelan and brought the plate of Balduran, Everard's morningstar and limited wish scroll (Nalia won't be learning that though, Immy can at least get some useful wishes without a potion of insight, Nalia can't) had about 40,000 gp left over.

Temple sewer's gang; Valygar pulled off a pretty good backstab here.

Nalia and Gaius simultaneously cast breach. However Gaius's Contingency:Stoneskin triggered instantly.

These bandits also had potions of superior healing, where can I get some? Well, I know I can get some in WK but that's a bit dangerous for us now.

Gaius managed to rebuff with a spell trigger, didn't save him. Only Keldorn was even slightly injured in this battle which also got Nalia to level 13.

Possible item randomizer bug here; apart from the usual loot (Wyvern's tail, helm of charm protection etc.) found sword of flame (could use this for spell interruption, switching Valygar from two weapons to bow and ice arrows gets tedious...), ring of danger sense and a second ring of regeneration. I believe it's only possible to legitimately get one RoR in SoA... if anyone can confirm I won't use the new one.

METAGAMING: We might take on Firkraag soon because Carsomyr would be really useful for fighting smarter beholders in the underdark, on the other hand I don't want to earn too much more xp or we'll be facing a lich in spellhold, which is a recipe for a TPK with all of our magic gear and potions taken away before the maze.

Just a quick note that Lucky the wild mage has successfully saved D'Arnise Keep. Trademeet will be our next quest. Only surge that happened was when Torgal got hit by a fireball it said "itchy" whatever that means...Our front-liners (Korgan, Minsc) are now both using a shield and a +3 axe most of the time, with the casters and thief staying in the back.

@Polytope - in vanilla BG 2, in chapter two you can get two RoRs - the one in Mekrath's Lair and the other you can buy directly from Ribald
