Grond0, this could be the one Wild Mage that makes it through.

Taum, 12th update

Session started by clearing Mind Flayers. I don't have SCS adjustements to them since the area makes my game slow down to a crawl (Polytope had similar issue but got around it "teleporting" Flayers out. I'm not that Weidu savy I'm afraid). No casualties, no harm done.

f001_zps2d18d268.gif

Since Xan now knows ADHW, we don't bother with spell protections/breaches/dispels etc. Kruin was the first to get a taste of my new anti-mage medicine.

f002_zpsbe205cf2.gif

Without Pfmw, he can't last even 2 rounds agains Kivan and Mazzy.

f003_zps826baabd.gif

Finished up some loose ends in Alkathla.

f004_zps8a013800.gif

Then visited Cromwell. Forged Gesen (Mazzy gets it for the rest of the game I guess)

f005_zps9e550af2.gif

And Silver Sword - Taum's dream weapon. Not only is it +4, but 10% extra crits is incredible. The fact that it's vorpal is just icing on the cake. :)

f006_zps44539bdb.gif

Firkraag's Lair

Transmuter can be a pain early on, with a possibility of having a 3x Skull Trap sequencer. Xan's Remove magic was succesfull, however.

f007_zpsee13ea52.gif

f008_zps69a4fa2f.gif

Vampires could get ugly, but ADHWs save the day.

f009_zps746e3b35.gif

f010_zps30ce5bfe.gif

Samia's a laugh at present levels

f011_zps951fc93f.gif

Kivan slain Tazok and took his heart. I'm not sure what he wants to do with it.

f013_zps986a99cc.gif

Conster got ADHWed and I left Firkraag for another day.

f014_zpsf7a8033c.gif

Back to Amn, we clear out Mind Flayers from the hidden area beneath Temple District. Had to reload once because game crashed upon entering (no fighting was done.) Kivan survived a Disintegration attempt. :)

f015_zps41e4eb64.gif

f017_zps2a61810b.gif

Some oddities...

f018_zps4bd637be.gif

Edwin getting stunned as his PW:Stun reflected back on him :P . We can now dispel Yuan-ti mages, which is awesome.

f019_zps7c805666.gif

Beholders have very little chance even if they do dispel our buffs.

f020_zpsc1ea0147.gif

More oddities....I tought he was dead when I saw this.

f021_zps6da663df.gif

I was expecting a Lich to spawn in the undead area, but only mummies did. Summoned a Fiend beforehand, just in case.

f022_zps18501bcd.gif

Death Tyrants, Beholders, Hive Mothers - it doesn't matter now anymore.

f023_zpsc5d88959.gif

ADHW rules all.

f024_zpse928b0f8.gif

Ramped up the clerics

f025_zpsda969e54.gif

Got a new belt (vanilla Belt of Fortitude)

f026_zpsbbe947ab.gif

Now it was time for Planar Sphere. Killed Valygar, and entered. At current levels, this is laughable.

f027_zpscb5805a4.gif

Even Planetars are of no threat.

f029_zpscb817465.gif

This was the highest critical so far. For some odd reason, Taum dropped his armor (even if it's cursed...odd) upon meeting this demon. Armor or no armor, as much as Fiends have in offensive power, so much they lack defensive.

f030_zps196506da.gif

Vorpaled the last Glabrezu there.

f031_zps5414a3f8.gif

Tolgerias < ADHW

f032_zps262b1174.gif

f033_zps7bee9784.gif

We return home, and now it's time for dragon hunting.

Taum, 13th update

Thaxy made some bad calls, such as casting Breach spells while getting hit for approx 200 damage per round of combat.

f034_zpsbd5b2d09.gif

He didn't last long.

f035_zps68e18f95.gif

Made a little mistake vs Firkraag, not buffing Xan with fire protection. He survived the breath attack, cast it on himself, and protected Kivan who got breached by the dragon.

f036_zpsb40c9bd2.gif

Firk did some chasing around (mostly for Mazzy. Why all the hate?!) and spent some time whacking Edwina's stoneskins. Lasted a bit longer than Thax, but nothing serious.

f037_zpsde6b14bf.gif

It was time to finish things up with the vampires. This is the last time I use SCS "Improved Vampires" component, CON drain is too troublesome and it forces rests every so often.

Gated 2 demons to help a bit, but they didn't really do much.

f038_zps98cea349.gif

As soon as the demons were dead, Vamps swarmed Mazzy. She had -18 AC, and got reduced to this in 2 rounds.

f039_zps758c1bed.gif

Kivan died.

f040_zps4bd72494.gif

Edwina summoned some Wraiths who are immune to level drain, and 3 Gnolls (Wand of MS). Gnolls die instantly, but Wraiths apsorb enough hits so Mazzy can destroy the Vamps.

f041_zpsfac36050.gif

Bodhi

Meh. A lot of buffing prior to this battle. Facing Bodhi in melee combat can only end in disaster, Taum triggers the dialogue and retreats, having a Cloud of Bats cast on him.

Two vamp mages follow, and breach him.

f042_zps1d1e957d.gif

One of them teleports to the back line.

f043_zps59cdb5a3.gif

Viconia starts Turning, and Hazarmavareth (!) is now frightened.

f044_zps2119a2ea.gif

Not for long, as Mazzy and Kivan obliterate him.

f045_zpsbdc46f1d.gif

Edwin and Mazzy get charmed. Kivan drinks an invisibility potion, Mazzy is slaughtering him.

f046_zps7efe6c23.gif

Vampires apperantly don't care for Charms, and Mazzy's under attack by Manasseh, the second mage. She's loosing CON quickly. Taum is invisible, I'm afraid of CON drain death.

f047_zps37c97d99.gif

Viconia Turns the mage as well. Mazzy gets charmed again.

f048_zpse08b474f.gif

Manasseh runs in fear, as we gang up on her.

f049_zpscc5a0302.gif

A Firestorm from Viconia + arrows deal with the rest of the vamps.

f050_zps01d66945.gif

Bodhi drained half of Mazzy & Kivan's HP on sight.

f051_zpsc6f38c9b.gif

...and then turns to bat. Wtf? Very anti-climatic.

f052_zpsdee189fd.gif

Yada, yada

f053_zpsb2a9e552.gif

Died, for the 2nd time.

f054_zpsb5c4e2ab.gif

We stake her through, and get our first HLAs. I use Refinements, so these differ. Taum picks up Hardiness, while Xan takes Inner Focus.

f055_zps0f7f4097.gif

f056_zps61870821.gif

Taum also got Deathless Frenzy innate. This makes him unkillable (apart stat drain or PW:Kill) for 3 rounds, at the cost of being berserk.

f057_zps9bcd66df.gif

Edwina is back to being Edwin.

f058_zpsbfaa6d5f.gif

Kivan also gets his first HLA upon returning the Lanthorn, chooses Endurance.

f059_zps7e73b7f2.gif

We end the session there, I should probably fight Kangaxx now.

Looks some pretty good progress there Aasim - keep up the focus, wouldn't want to slip near the end...

Thanks Corey, will do.

Taum, 14th update

Lich hunting

We start with Shade Lich. He opens with a supendous ammount of buffs (none of which will actually do him any good :P ).

l1_zps5b88fbed.gif

He focuses on summons, and created an Apocalyptic Boneguard (this is what happens with Refinements+SCS, its a Necromancer-only HLA)

l2_zps33ce5859.gif

..and a Cornugon is gated as well.

l3_zps3cb324cd.gif

As soon as his Pfmw is down, a happy ending is here. Cornugon is fodder at these levels.

l4_zpsa7c9b66b.gif

We pay for magic licence before tackling elemental lich.

l5_zps53304f95.gif

Of course, this was unnececary- door isn't locked, only trapped. I remembered since you can't cast Knock on that door.

l6_zps3faa36b2.gif

Another stupid amount of buffs.

l7_zps5451111c.gif

Hardiness for Comet approaching..

l8_zpsb308041f.gif

Elemental Lich actually delivered a fair amount of damage.

l9_zps1c70dcdd.gif

And decided to poke his head upstairs. No Pfmw on him, and he dies.

l91_zps7cf46185.gif

Kangaxx

Meh...we need to buff for this. SI:Abj, Spell Shield, NPP, Pro Magic Scroll - we got it all. The only one w/o buffs is Taum, since he doesn't actually need any.

l92_zps52cba5bf.gif

Very convinient Wish - double-lenght TS+Alacrity. Cheater.

l93_zps154dd17d.gif

2x Disintegrate for Edwin.

l94_zpsf5931ee3.gif

Edwin survives, heals up, Kangaxx another TS

l95_zps4fbc314d.gif

ADHW on party.

l96_zps0c717d91.gif

His Pfmw is gone, we strike hard and fast, as he turns to Demilich

l97_zpsb0eaa080.gif

Edwin and Xan re-cast SI:Abjuration, Mazzy uses Pro Magic scroll, Kivan Potion of Magic Shielding. Viconia is left vulnerable.

l98_zpsce2608f1.gif

Some futile attempts actually manage to Hold Taum. No prob, Vic to rescue.

l99_zpsfe6b2486.gif

Trigger triggered. :P

l991_zps82119a10.gif

Few rounds later, fin. Vorpalized.

l992_zps60ce4807.gif

And Taum's brand new ring, replaces Ring of Regeneration worn till now:

l993_zps705c38fd.gif

We shall skip the Twisted Rune, and are en route to Sundalesselar.

I was about to start a new game with my new installation. Imported my drow wizard slayer and got as gar as Candlekeep in the past. (The autosave from that part of the game is fine). However upon centering the dungeon, the game hangs.

Imoen doesn't turn up and neither has the character from dungeonbegone.

Any ideas?

Gate70/Grond0 multiplayer attempt 46 - (update 3)
Tweedle, dwarf fighter (Grond0) & Guarh, dwarf fighter (Gate70)

The dwarven duo have made further good progress and are about to take ship for Brynnlaw.

They started off today's adventures at Umar. Things went smoothly in the village and they moved on to the dungeon. The first group of undead there had no lich, but the greater mummy hit hard and Guarh was forced into the rare step of taking a couple of healing potions before the fight was won. For the second group the duo buffed up, including a first use of Ilbratha, and won with no problems.

Thaxy proved to be a hard fight. Initially he was attacked with summons to draw out his remove magic before Guarh attacked him with mirrors up. However, Thaxy was still winning that battle and, when Guarh was buffeted away, he chased Tweedle. He sought cover under the canopy, but was hit by dragon breath and drained to level 5 before Guarh returned to distract Thaxy. To be able to stay in combat longer he used the sewer cloak rat form, while Tweedle threw his hammer. Once his levels came back he started to get a few hits (with the help of potions of heroism and speed) and Thaxy finally gave up the struggle.

By contrast the Shade Lord was simple. Tweedle paused the game to use a sunray, but by that time Guarh had already destroyed him with a single throw from Azuredge - getting both our heroes to level 14.

Back in Athkatla surplus equipment was disposed of and Vhailor's Helm purchased. Then it was on to Windspear Hills. We didn't have the acorns so went straight to the dungeon there and made swift progress through that. The golems hit hard a couple of times, but otherwise damage was relatively light up to the point that they retrieved Dragonslayer. The ambush by Samia looked like it would be fairly easy after Kitthix webbed Kaol, but his buffs actuallly kept him going almost throughout the fight. Kitthix was also left behind as a distraction for Conster, but he still managed a FoD attempt at Guarh that was only saved as a result of just achieving level 15.

Firkraag was not easy, but a bit more controlled than Thaxy. The simmy was brought out for the first time and attacked with Guarh using mirrors and Arbane haste, while Tweedle used his hammer from distance (he had no fire protection). The plan was for the simmy to change to rat shape to occupy Firkraag at some point, but the dragon expired just as that looked like being necessary.

In the City again the duo invaded the sewers. Approaching Tarnor's group invisibly allowed them to kill Gaius before his buffs kicked in and the other casters failed to get any spells away either. Tarnor got some meaty blows in on Guarh, without really being threatening. Mekrath was no problem and was kind enough to only have umber hulks for his guards.

Following Haer'Dalis the duo found themselves in the planar prison. Arriving invisibly again they quickly dealt with the bounty hunters and swiftly moved round to the Master of Thralls (again only umber hulks rather than yuan-ti mages on the way). There was a potential problem there when the demon's gaze attack on Guarh proved to have an area of effect and paralysed Tweedle. However, Guarh was up to the challenge and disposed of the enemies. After destroying the orb they moved forward to confront the Warden, but once more Tweedle proved to be too close to Guarh - remove magic stripping his improved invisibility and chaos then affecting him. Fortunately he retreated from the action rather than following in, leaving Guarh to handle things alone again. He made a nuisance of himself among the yuan-ti mages until they killed themselves with skull traps and then took a couple of healing potions before turning onto the Warden. Meanwhile Tweedle had come to his senses and his hammer finally found a way through the Warden's mirrors.

With Guarh now rocketing round in his new boots the plan was to go to Spellhold to get an equivalent pair for Tweedle. However, Aran Linvail was not impressed and pointed out that some work with vampires was still outstaning. That was soon rectified: Azuredge quickly disposed of Tanova, a sunray killed all the vampires downstairs and a first use of an air elemental from the Staff of Air was all the help the duo needed with Bodhi.

Stats:

Tweedle, fighter 16, 138 HPs (incl. 12 from ioun stone), 465 kills
Guarh, fighter 16, 138 HPs (incl. 5 from helm), 649 kills, 0 deaths

Taum, 15th update

Prior to going to save the elves, we bought Reflection shield for Viconia and decided to take revenge on the Slaver compound for ending a No-reload of my kensai.

Demon on the bottom floor gated in a Marilith, but no harm done.

end001_zpsd71c9cc1.gif

Upstairs, we wanted to avoid the dispeling trap, but failed.

end002_zps88bac5dc.gif

Maferan tried to jump on Viconia, she hides in sanctuary just in time.

end003_zpsca15c9a6.gif

In the meantime, Koshi is dead, Taum dispelled, and a Pit Fiend is gated in by Stalman.

end004_zps4d7c9889.gif

Pit Fiend apperantly got mad at Stalman for calling him, and attacked him! Lol. Xan and Edwin aren't idle, and are tossing ADHWs.

end005_zpsd4e981e5.gif

Aftermath.

end006_zps0f46dad7.gif

Sion did cast Time Stop, and was protected from my ADHWs, but got 2x Ruby Ray, a Secret Word, a Breach, and was killed. What goes around, comes around.

end007_zpse0d56782.gif

Suldanesselar

One notable battle here is vs Raamilat. Viconia summoned a Deva to tackle him and his Nabassu.

end009_zpsc7744f98.gif

Taum dropped his armor again, crazy as it sounds. I don't know why this happens. Oddly enough, whenever he drops his armor (only happens when he faces demons), he scores a magnificent critical.

end010_zps9bf6c35c.gif

Raamilat teleported near Mazzy and Kivan without PFMW. This usually ends badly for mages attempting such stuff. Nycaloth is running away from Taum :)

end011_zps56d7ec5f.gif

He dies as well.

end012_zps37fa4e93.gif

A great unfortune was to happen. Sand golems apperantly share Clay Golems' Cursed Wounds ability. I didn't know that.

Taum took hefty damage and had to run since potions don't heal him anymore. this would all be fine, but Iron golem hit a critical, and our archer's portrait dissapears in a bang of flesh and blood! It was not meant to be I guess....

end013_zpsd214c3cb.gif

We kill off the damn beasts with Xan tanking them.

end014_zpse44172c9.gif

Nizi

SI:Conjuration is the key here. 3xLower Resistance from Edwin (trigger), 3xADHW Chain from Xan leaves Nizi gasping for mercy.

end015_zps29d8a14a.gif

Taum gets the killing blow.

end016_zps6a7257e3.gif

3xADHW deals with Rakshasa as well.

end017_zps366be7e6.gif

Rakshasas

end018_zps71bafd36.gif

Suneer. SI:Divination, lol.

end019_zps37f0c5e2.gif

Bought Roranach's Horn from a shop there. It's a neat helmet, but not for Taum.

end020_zps4ec2c310.gif

Jon, take one

end021_zps0c692e66.gif

He summoned a Planetar, and wished for Hardiness - Planetar benefited from this, but it didn't do much overall

end022_zpsce8d3360.gif

He also gated some demons, but dies after a few Ruby Rays casted on him. We go to Hell itself.

Taum, 16th and final BG2 update

These are the buffs....

end025_zpse133deb8.gif

And this is Taum:

end026_zpsc6bf0f0c.gif

Taum uses Vorpal sword, Stone of Good Luck (replaces +1AC Ioun stone, adds +1 to Luck obviously), Ring of Fire Control, Ring of Gaxx, Cassiel's Soul armor, Boots of Etherealness, Girdle of Trollish fortitude, Amulet of Spell Warding, Gauntlets of Extra Specialization, +2 Cloak.

Mazzy!

end027_zps1035351f.gif

Edwin

end028_zps7fed1c23.gif

Viconia

end030_zps7604c992.gif

and Xan. He's quite buffed, his HP isn't that high. :P

end029_zpsaebf284a.gif

These are the Hell Trial picks:

end031_zps02c0c42a.gif

Time to face the melee+Time Stop Slayer. Xan has his standard Chain Contingency - Remove magic, 2x ADHW. Edwin can't yet cast level 9 spells unfortunately.

Chain triggers on nearest enemy/sighted, and delivers heavy damage on demons.

end032_zps25effb34.gif

Gating starts, Slayer approaches Xan and starts his chanting. I know exactly what's about to happen, Xan responds with PFMW.

end033_zps58ef9c1c.gif

Yea. I did not see that. Fuuuu....

end034_zps27e6f235.gif

After killing of Viconia, he settles for summons during his 2nd Time stop.

end035_zps8097702e.gif

Demons are dead. Time to focus the Slayer down.

end036_zpse1e226ad.gif

Some ping-pong PFMW in between Edwin and Xan gives Taum room to breathe.

end037_zps926fdafc.gif

end040_zps05752f66.gif

I completely forgot about his trigger. Luckily, it's not an offensive one. 3xChain Ligtning would kill off Taum.

end038_zps7f1821c6.gif

Mazzy has 1 Critical strike HLA. After Slayers's stoneskins are gone, she activates it.

end041_zps69ec9b1f.gif

...and so it ends for Irenicus.

end042_zps5a134d8d.gif

Taum, Mazzy, Edwin and Xan are now going to ToB. Viconia is lost forever, as is Kivan, so some adjustements in my party will have to be made.

Cordruid the Fighter/Druid and his band of fighter/druids enters BG 2 portion of a trillogy no-reload challenge...

SETUP:

BGT

Tobex

Core Rules at all times

"gore" on (characters can be chunked)

Theme:

For this particular run, only fighter/druids are allowed to join. Michael got chunked by Semaj/Angelo, so Jaheira joined us in the dungeon. The dungeon went pretty smoother, except there was a What the...? moment:

Entiredruidpartyisknockedunconsciousatth

That's right entire party unconscious! Luckily the mephits distributed their attacks....thus when we woke up we healed and immediately summoned some help. Once the help arrived, we were able to take of business without further ado. We managed to kill the vampire before leaving.

I figured with 6 druids, surely we could destroy Mencar. We buffed to the max, put 5 nymphs in the room before showing ourselves. The nymphs are going to get killed but that's OK, it just means Cordruid won't be targeted by the enemy mages. Cordruid managed to get an insect plague off, and it was really causing havoc for the enemy. Brennan Risling excaped out the window, but that's OK, his ring wasn't important for druids. Rachel nearly died because she was confused, but we managed to kill Mencar in time. Here's a screenie of when the battle was interesting:

InterestingbattlewithMencarPebblecrusher

With True Seeing and stone skins, the circus problem was easily solved. We are about to make our way to the slums and meet Galen Bayle for the first time. Here is the team:

Well, if we do Illasera, Sarevok will replace Kivan. I'm undecided about a cleric however. Viconia had 100%MR with her equipment, add Reflection shield and she was virtually untouchable apart in melee which can be avoided, unless Time Stop is active. She will be missed. :(

GL in BG2, and keep up those Chaotic Commands!

Congratulations on dealing with Jon-boy once and for all, Aasim. Even with those casualties (Kivan and Viccy). Keep rocking in ToB!

And glad to see your Druids in Amn, Corey! Take care of them - there are no more substitutes for chunked ones...

Chim - elven wild mage (update 5)

Some good progress this morning saw Chim on her way to Spellhold.

She started in Umar Hills by collecting Valygar's body and taking it to open up the Planar Sphere before going to Windspear Hills. With not much left to buy I was no longer bothering picking up most treasure and progress was rapid - summons and incendiary clouds being favourite tactics. The golems by the bridge got Chim to level 20 (extra L6 spell) before Samia's party found their ambush disrupted by a webbed cloud - none of them managing to do more than quaff a potion. A couple of skeleton warriors left behind took care of Conster before Chim rested for Firkraag. A simulacrum helped lower his resistance and fill him full of acid arrows - though it was the planetar that got the killing blow. Reporting back to Garren Windspear got Chim to level 21 (final saving throw upgrade and extra L7 spell).

Back in Athkatla Chim sorted out equipment. With his unbuffed spell saving throw down to -1 I decided it was finally worth swapping the Claw of Kazgoroth for ring of protection +2. Now that a petrification surge is no danger, surges are unlikely to kill him - so future progress is only likely to be ended by a mistake (so no problems then!).

Returning to the Temple sewers Mekrath managed to run out of a cloud, but only into a skull trap. Most of his yuan-ti didn't even make it that far. The illithid found stunning a planetar easy enough, but killing it was another matter and Chim was soon on her way to rescue Haer'Dalis. She entered the Planar Prison invisibly and quickly summoned 3 skeleton warriors. Together with a planetar they tore up the Bounty Hunters and did the same for the group of yuan-ti (level 22 - extra L8 spell). A replacement planetar then dealt with the Master of Thralls. It was stunned by the Warden, so acted as a focal point for a series of skull traps that had already killed the Warden before a cloud could take effect. The skeleton warriors MR allowed them to clean up the yuan-ti mages and open up an exit.

The planar sphere offered no real challenge against the usual tactics of summons and area damage. Lavok succumbed to a cloud to provide level 23 (energy blades) and Tolgerias was also too slow to move out of the fire. The tanar'ri gave a planetar his heart to allow Chim to navigate back to her own space and provide Lavok with a last glimpse of the sky.

Chim arranged for the Solamnic Knights to be repatriated and took on responsibility for a group of apprentices. I was thinking that they could safely make a ring of protection +1 for her, but Larz exploded in the process. That means no staff of power this time, but the remaining two did create a DHW scroll for her. However, they both exploded when trying for a ring of wizardry, so there was no graduation ceremony needed! A few rests later and Chim was summoned to the Sphere to see Teos. She was expecting an ambush and had no problems in beating that off (level 24 - dragon's breath). Chim then went to imprison Lord Ketlaar - he failed to see the prison bars closing thanks to Kitthix.

After learning ADHW Chim went to sort out the Unseeing Eye. Summons did most of the work on the way there, getting Chim to level 25 and her final HLA (comet). The Eye itself was vorpalled before Chim could even weaken it with the rod. A cloud disposed of Gaal and his Merrie Men.

After reporting to the Temple Chim went to the Guarded Compound. Summons killed the glabrezu, but turned hostile in the process and Chim had to run from his planetar. Coming back, she threw a cloud in upstairs before coming back down where her summons disposed of those following. She used spell immunity
(conjuration) to protect against a possible PW:stun while waiting for Stalman and Sion to die upstairs. I remembered the dispel magic and acid traps as being the other way round - as a result Chim got blobbed, triggering her contingency for the second time in her run.

The final target for the session was the Twisted Rune. While Chim occupied Shangalar, the planetar did the important job of disposing of Vaxall, to avoid Chim's spell protections being dispelled (although looking at the screenshot it was actually Layene that got the kill). The planetar was then scared by Shangalar, but a first use of energy blades, together with MMM, allowed Chim to kill Shangalar by herself (level 26) before she summoned another planetar to finish things off. However, the remnants included a pit fiend so Chim then had to run round a hostile planetar until it disappeared.

Taum, ToB update 1

A rather short session has been the end of Illasera. I wasn't afraid of Taum dying here, he equiped Reflection Shield, but I was worried about more chunking.

Our positioning was spot-on, Mazzy in the back row, Xan and Edwin right beside Taum, both casting PFMW as soon as the battle started.

tob001_zps506747f0.gif

A few rounds and a 3xADHW Chain Contingency later...

tob002_zpsbc9c7038.gif

And fin.

tob003_zps02c537ca.gif

Right now we're in the pocket plane. Sarevok has joined (no obligations). I'll also take Aerie as a substitute for Viconia. I'm pondering if I should dual Sarevok to a mage or not....that would make him useless for a large part of game, but his end-game power as a fighter(17)-mage would be immense. I should also finish WK to gather enough XP for him. I'm undecided, and will ponder on my decision a bit.

Taum, 2nd a final ToB update

After braving dragons, Liches, Beholders and the like Taum met his untimely demise in Gromnir's basement. He got cornered by a number of enemies, including an invisible thief which blocked his path to safety. With few enemies using Whirlwinds and his pathetic AC score, he died.

end_zpsf64551fc.gif

In the course of his travles, he killed 1088 enemies, his favourite weapon (and mine!) was Silver Sword, his most powerful foe vanquished was Firkraag. May he rest in Hell.

None, party too far off. He could have used Deathless Frenzy innate to survive for extra 3 rounds, but my wife came to the room and started bragging, so I lost concentration and was clicking on healing potions icon... :D

Cordruid and his party of fighter/druids - BG 2 Update 2

Entire party is level 8 fighter/level 10 druid, except Crystelle is level 7 fighter dualed to level 11 druid

Traveling with: Rachel, David, Venita, Crystelle, Jaheira

Our first major task was freeing Hendak. With summons assisting, this went very smooth.

Next major task was the Lilacor quest. We do this for the experience, of course, since druids can't use two hand swords. It went pretty smooth except for one problem - I had told the group as a whole to move into the southern area, but apparently someone was in the "way" and so Rachel went up and got petrified by the lying down door trap! We we laboriously returned to the temple to purchase stone to flesh scrolls to revive her. We got ambushed by some muggers - poor chaps with 2x call lightning, they didn't stand a chance; The scroll brings Rachel back and we finish this quest without further ado.

Next, we really wanted some full plate (well er, some more, just Mencar's isn't enough). So we headed to the Docks District and killed Officer Dirth for his full plate. However, this triggered Jaheira's cursed quest. So then we go to Ployer's House, doing lots of buffs before showing ourselves. Most of the party opened by summoning some help while Cordruid cast insect plague. The enemy was rendered pretty helpless and fell easily after this. The entire party except Jaheira and Crystelle leveled to 10 druid - most of the party chose death ward and chaotic commands with the new spell slots.

We then work on rooting out the slavers in the moored ship. We arrive from the sewers, since we have no way to open the door outside. We open with summons and insects on the enemy cleric - for the heck of it Cordruid charms an enemy archer - after this the enemies fall without being able to put up good resistance. We use flame blade spell to kill the trolls. As far as I know, the only druid usable weapons that can kill trolls is blackblood club and wyvern's tail, but don't have those yet.

We then carefully take out the Yuan-tis without being seen by the slaver wizards. Cordruid does Farsight then 5 nymphs approach the enemies. The nymphs weren't too effective, and so the party attacked instead. The party took a lot of pain, a fireball and a skull trap, but we got the job done. When we reported to Hendak, Crystelle got druid level 11 - woot! We can now summon ONE fire elemental - I'm sure this will help. Ended the session here.

Isn't there a returning dart that does fire damage? I think I've seen one (may have been in ToB though).

Shandalar perhaps :)

Condolences Aasim, an impressive effort. In the standard game the guarded compound dispel trap can be picked off under invisibility 10' or mass invisibility and activating detect traps before heading upstairs. Is the blue aura around party members an improved cloak of mirroring etc. graphic - I remember a plainer one from aTweaks a while back.

Enjoy nature Corey.
Jianson, there is a returning dagger (Firetooth) but that's over in the underdark, no returning dart with fire damage.
The druid stronghold quest provides a club with acid damage but that is after a burning heap of trolls.
If you can use Wyverns Tail you can use the FoA? Or do the two work differently?
Sunstone bullets might also work, just save one for the Shade Lord.

& keep up the concentration Grond0.

Nay, Crimson Dart is just a +3 returning dart and that's it. Fire Tooth +3 dagger does though but it's in the Ust Natha.

Sorry to hear about Taum's demise, Aasim. Looks like yet another victim of RL distraction and a bit of lacking of concentration due to being unstoppable...
