@Corey: yes, this is great spell, especially in SCS with pre-buffed mages - they usually have MGoI/GoI as pre-buff so Web is out of picture here. Truth be told, I seldom use Web now if I haven't some kind of Free Action item/spell available and Chaos effectively disable enemies' spellcasting as well. Furthermore, enemies often use potions of Freedom as a buff which save them vs Web but not vs Chaos.

That makes sense. Even in vanilla BG 2, there are so many enemies with magic resistance, I do not use web much in BG 2/ToB. In any party in BG 1 with arcane, on the other hand, I use it heavily and served me very well in BG 1. And putting two webs at once on the enemy is just massive...there's a definite dearth of free action items in BG 2 (compared to BG 1), so that certainly puts a crimp on things.

Actually they are on par. For BG1 there are Spider's Bane and two rings. For BG2/ToB - FoA +5, Ixil's Spike +6 and one ring.

I was actually referring to all items conferring free action, including potions. There many more potions of freedom in BG 1 than BG 2. I also referring to BG 2 only, not ToB, thus your 2nd two examples don't count in my comparison. Besides by the times characters get to ToB, many characters can get automatic saves vs. web, which sort of defeats the purpose of a free action ring.

I see your point. I can't comment about whether there are *many more* potions of freedom in BG1 compared to BG2 as I never paid much attention for that but even then Free Action is much more priceless in BG2, imo. In BG1 the main threats are Web and Hold while (at least with fixpack-ed free action) in BG2 it protect vs *Web, Hold Person, Grease (can't remember enemies ever use that), Entange (Nizi's plant grows come to mind), Slow, Paralysis and Stun*. The Fiends are quite fond of using the latter two...

@Serg: Considering the many ghouls, ghasts, vampiric wolves, enemy clerics/mages who hold, web traps and carrion crawlers, all of whom hold you, I was say the free action is certainly just as valuabe in BG 1. From what I understand, in BG 2 Ribald has 3 freedom potions and that's it. In BG 1 Thalantyr has 3 freedom potions as well, but there's also a number freedom potions obtained in encounters, and even in a crypt. And I believe some merchants from TotSC plus merchants in Baldur's Gate have freedom potions too, plus some in Durlag's tower too.

Spider's Bane is one of the few items I miss from BG 1 when in BG 2.

Anyways, we've pretty much covered this topic in depth, I'll move on. I suppose with the 3 clerics BG 2 gives you, you can just use two of the clerics, who between them should be able to do free action on most of the group if wanted via spell, even early on, so perhaps a moot point. Because of this, I suppose free action items are much more important for a solo player than a full group.

Ishtar the Cavalier, 1st BG2 update

This is right after Imoen rescued him from his cage.

Baldr000.jpg

So far I used Dungeon-B-gone to exit the dungeon, teamed up with Minsc (Barbarian), cleared out circus, 2 goons in front of CC (Amalas & Bregg maybe), fought in CC pits - incredibly enough, the guy who challenges you is immune to criticals, joined Yoshimo and Anomen. Sent Nalia back to her keep for the time being. Only notable thing is that Anomen joined at level 11, which is a big deal  - 2x Chaotic Commands + Heal spell are thus available. We also plan on adopting Keldorn, and later on, substitute Yoshi for Imoen - but we'll see how it goes.

Ledcan the half-elf level 11 fighter/level 12 mage - Update 5

Traveling with: Joshua (level 14 dwarven berserker), Hanna (level 14 human priest of lathander), Paja (level 16 thief)

This was going to be a big update. Instead it's just a small one. Why? Because Ledcan's team had complete 11 of the 14 major fights/sections of the 2nd area in Firkraag's Lair, when the game crashed - it crashed so bad the computer actually immediately shut down. This has happened to me before in this area in particular, I don''t know why I forget to quicksave often here. Fortunately did have ONE quicksave, but that one was after 3 fights, so have to do 8 fights over again...grrr.

The main reason we are here is to get Hanna level 15 cleric - she will then get skeletal warriors. With their help, we should be able to do the Planar Sphere safely. I know now she will get that level once we clear the mass of undead here, so that's good news.

Too late to try again, will try to clear this area tomorrow, good luck to the rest of the runs going on.

Grit - elven wild mage (update 1)

Grit went through BG1 safely and will attempt to do the same in BG2 ...

In the dungeon she bypassed the early enemies using familiar invisibility and got the sewage golem to open the doors.  She meleed 3 goblins blocking a corridor (the familiar using mirror image) in order to get access to the living room where she buffed up without problems and picked up the Claw and Horn of Kazgaroth and the Ring of Koveras.  While her buffs were still active she cloudkilled the otyugh.

She buffed up again to get the transport key.  I was expecting to have to deal with a couple of golems after that and produced some summons ready for them.  However, it appeared they had got stuck in traffic.  I thought in that screenshot that the familiar was invisible, but obviously not as the enemies immediately attacked!  The summons killed the first one, but then disappeared, leaving Grit with the slightly anxious job of killing the second - done with mirror image and potion of speed.

More buffing produced some hasted invisible monsters to destroy the portals and while her buffs were up Grit cloudkilled the clone.  She also found a mordy sword scroll in the portal room, which was nice.  There was one final bit of buffing to get past the trap before the wand room.  I decided it wasn't worth trying to get any more of the treasures after that and just left invisibly.  The quest reward for escaping got Grit to level 10 - just the 3 HPs meaning she finishes 0.5 HPs above the average.

Ledcan the Half-Elf Fighter/Mage - FINAL Update!

Ledcan had cleared the entire 2nd level of Firkraag's lair without incident. It was time to finally free Windspear's daughter. Ledcan, however was a bit too overconfident and didn't do his usual anti-mage buffs on himself, especially death ward (which was available). I think I thought it was easy as so many times I trap Conster to death but none were available. In any case, Conster decided to do finger of death on Ledcan and Ledcan's spell save of 4 wasn't enough to save him - The End.

LedcankilledbyConster_zpsc87c86d8.png

I enjoyed the faster leveling and flexibility of a 4 man group, so think will roll one again, though different make-up.

Yeah, me too. I don't think I ever realized that FoD was in Conster's repertoire - this makes him as dangerous as Rayic Gethras - I will not under-estimate him again.

Condolences Corey. It was looking good thus far.

Ishtar, 2nd BG2 update

In this session, we did things that had to be done. Adopted Keldorn (traveling around the sewers since I don't want to fight Tarnor's gang yet), did Suna Seni ambush rather fast and easy - Keldorn is indeed very useful around mages. The fact Anomen can cast Chaotic Commands is just icing on the cake.

Bald001.jpg
Bald002.jpg[

Also did the Harper ambush while at it.
Baldr010.jpg

Next we released the slaves from Copper Coronet
Baldr011.jpg

And descended down the sewers to get Lirarcor. Since Keldorn can dispel cofusion effect, he gets it.
Baldr012.jpg

We struck the slavers base immidiately after getting the sword. Keldorn dispeled buffs off their priest, and Anomen's Hold was also succesful on him.
Baldr013.jpg

Yoshi got struck hard really fast - IR scimitars do less damage (1d6) but can crit with a +1 modifier. It didn't help the enemies much - having no disables available, they were slain.
Baldr015.jpg

Yoshi disarmed the traps, and we freed the children.
Had a pretty rough time vs two mages there, Anomen got charmed, and we all took a hefty beating. Keldorn helped immensly by dispeling their mage's defences, leaving him open to Yoshi's arrows.
Baldr017.jpg

This is the closest Ishtar got to dying so far in BG2; after getting hit my numerous magic missiles.
Baldr018.jpg

With the gnome mage dead, victory was assured. We moped up the rest of the thieves easilly and delivered news to Hendak.
Baldr019.jpg

Delivering the poisoned man back to Harpers got us the mad necromancer's quest. Upon finishing it, Ishtar got level 10. Mages we were asked to kill posed very little threat, and Keldorn dispeled both of them. Since KR Inquisitor isn't exactly built for front line fighting (i.e. no steroid skill, few apr - 3/2 up to level 13) I bought him Light Crossbow of speed, which he uses to great effect even if his dex score is abysmal (7 after full plate modifiers).
Baldr023.jpg
Baldr024.jpg

Next, Mae'var had to be taken care of. Since I really want Minsc in my group, Edwin is out of the picture - this enables me to simply kill him and get the key.
Baldr026.jpg

Even without a mage backup, Mae'var doesn't really stand a chance. He did succesfully dispel Ishtar, however.
Baldr028.jpg

Priest of Cyric was dealt with swiftly under focused attacks of Minsc, Keldorn and Anomen (I kept Yoshi outside, I was afraid of him getting chunked to a critical backstab).
Baldr029.jpg

Next, Keldorn dispels Mae'var's buffs. All of his protective spells are gone.
Baldr030.jpg

Mae'var tries for Chaos, but Ishtar saves against it. Most of the assassins are dead, True seeing revealing them while Minsc puts Sword of Chaos to good use.

Baldr033.jpg

After 2nd Dispel, Mae'var dies.
Baldr034.jpg

We spent our earned money on Fortress Shield for Ishtar, and deleved to WK again, for a splendid bastard sword. A lot of potions were used, but Foebane is mine to wield.

Baldr037.jpg
Baldr040.jpg

Finished the session by doing Keldorn's and Anomen's personal quests (Anomen will get his knighthood this time), and dealing with the Fallen Paladins. Torgal and De'Arnise keep are to be my next mission, I want Nalia and I don't want her to miss up on too much exp.

Hard luck Corey - best wishes for your new bard.

Grit - elven wild mage (update 2)

Grit made a bit of safety-first progress this morning.  Her first target was the circus.  She was using a standard casting procedure there of starting with the Horn of Kazgaroth + spirit armour to get spell save down to 1 (providing near safety for further spells cast out of combat).  Improved invisibility then takes over from the Horn (which only has a 3 round duration) allowing her to follow up with other buffs / summons as necessary.  She had her first surge of her run so far (none in BG1) while buffing to go upstairs and had to rest and try again - a single skull trap proving sufficient for Kalah (it also killed Quayle, but Aerie didn't seem to realise that).

Grit bought the RoAC - allowing her to get saving throws down to 1 before doing any casting.  She then travelled invisibly until coming across Suna Seni.  Web, malison and area damage spells quickly finished them off and Grit used the funds earned to buy a magic license.

She did some more travelling until she found Renfeld.  The need to be careful of Renfeld meant that one of the thieves just survived Grit's web strategy and was finished off in melee.  After returning Renfeld, she dealt with Prebek and Sanasha - getting to level 11 in the process.  The improvement in spell saving throw means she no longer needs the Horn of Kazgaroth to cast safely.  That was down to it's last 2 charges, so she won't bother recharging it.

Back at the Slums she killed Cohrvale and Bregg and rescued a slave being transported across the area.  Inside the Copper Coronet she was ready buffed for a cage fight with Amalas before using a cloudkill to ensure no extra guards spawned near the cells (the original guard was carrying a simulacrum spell - if others had similar it's a pity I didn't let them spawn!).  Summons and area damage killed the beastmaster, but Grit rested again before releasing Hendak in order to have more summons to kill the guards and then Lehtinan.

She bought the Sling of Seeking and a spell sequencer scroll and a recharged fire wand.  She then used a couple of potions of genius to learn sequencer and a number of other useful spells - including stoneskin, animate dead, contingency, wizard eye and MMM (also dealt with an orog ambush while going to get those potions).

On to Watcher's Keep.  Grit set up a triple skull trap sequencer for use against vampiric wraiths, but there were none there so she had an easier time in clearing the top level (this run I've made sure the golem is usable, which is helpful).  Actually she only took on the first two statues: the first went down quite quickly despite the failure of her attempted skull trap sequencer, but the second was magic resistant and she had to run round quite a while throwing the Crimson Dart at it to finish it off - it would have been quicker to retreat and rest to try and get some better summons (animate dead has a 20% chance currently of a skeleton warrior, while there's also a chance of getting fire elementals using NRD).

Grit just needed a few hundred gold to be able to pay Gaelan Bayle and thought Arledrian could supply that.  Unfortunately that shop closed early - shopkeepers really should give more thought to the traps they set!  However, she found an alternative nearby and has just visited Aran Linvail to pick up her goodies.

Mutli-player no-reload

Neequan - gnomish level 8 fighter/level 10 thief, controlled by Corey_Russell

Wesorc - elvish level 11 sorcerer, controlled by Dogdancing

When we last heard of the duo they had just made it out of Irenicus' dungeon. The only major purchase was the Ring of Air Control for Neequan. This saw immediate use as the duo headed to Watcher's Keep and got the Suna Seni ambush. Neequan opened with improved invisibility (via RoAC), and Wescorc did invisibility. Wesorc buffed up, while Neequan used a firebreath potion on the mage - Neequan then started whacking everything with his two long swords - by the time Wesorc was finished buffing, the battle was over.

At Watcher's Keep we got a gem bag and potion bag for Neequan. We have a bag of holding SK'd at the start of our BG 2 adventure. After selling we had JUST enough for the Magic License - we went ahead and got that so Wesorc doesn't have to walk around unbuffed. We freed Viconia while were here, Neequan once again destroying enemies fast with his long swords, though am sure the magic missiles from Wesorc helped too.

Neequan wanted to get Officer Dirth's full plate, so we headed to docks, which happened to be at night. First we had to battle two thieves we caught talking to a vampire. Neequan was looting and in inventory when Wesorc started exploring and found 4 muggers, all gunning for her. She got hurt bad, so she heal potioned and went invisible, while Neequan started to whittle them down with his long swords - once buffed Wesorc started pumping magic missiles into all the muggers - success! The Priest of Cyric was cut down almost as an afterthought.

Once finally at the Sea's Bounty we rested. Wesorc then tried repeatedly to blind Officer Dirth and it took quite a few attempts. She did eventually succeed and Neequan started pumping Officer Dirth with arrows, while Wesorc started throwing bullets at him, at a safe distance of course. This took quite a while, so Wesorc decided to speed things along with a few magic missiles to boot. Dogdancing found it odd that there was no comment by the many people in the room about this killing of a patron in the room - perhaps this kind of thing is common?

We found a contingency scroll - we used it for Wesorc for a Helpless: invisibility. This might save her life. Next, we freed Hendak, the initial battle near Hendak himself Wesorc was flinging spells everywhere, and nearly sent a fireball, but Neequan stopped her in time, don't need rep losses...Wesorc used a cloudkill on the beastmaster and blinded him, but she had to put up some mirror images as animals were coming to attack her, but Neequan made short work of the beastmaster's pets. Hendak defeats Lethitinan and now Hendak is the new master of this place. We immediately buy a sword of flame since we need something to kill trolls.

Wesorc is just about to level, so we worked on the Lilacor quest. Neequan would scout ahead and Wesorc would kill the masses of enemies with cloudkill, this worked out great. This quest did in fact level Wesorc. Incidentally, Corey_Russell has only been a sorcerer ONCE and even that one never even made it to BG 2, so he really isn't sure how to build Wesorc - this is first for her as well, so the spell picks are challenging to say the least. We left the Myconids alone for the moment with no confusion immunity for the team available yet.

Next major task was to battle the slavers in the moored ship. We entered via the sewers, and this was a very challenging battle indeed. Neequan backstabbed Captain Haegan, but since he was invisible that meant everyone was on Wesorc. Wesorc used glitterdust on two groups of the slavers, giving her a little breathing room but she still had to do a lot of running. Fortunately she had the presence of mind to ask Neequan are there any traps and he said, yes, by the stairs. Wesorc was having enough and starting flinging spells like fireball and magic missiles at the enemy cleric, while Neequan's long swords had killed almost everyone else by this point. There was one final slaver left, but Wesorc's phase spider was blocking our access to him. Wesorc had the presence of mind to not go past Neequan, and Neequan, though in full plate, detected the trap so she would know where it was. Good thing, as that trap for sure would have killed her. Success for this part of the battle.

Next we slaughtered the two yuan-tis. For the mages, once again Neequan scouted, and Wesorc fired 2x web and 2x cloudkill - there was only one survivor which Neequan backstabbed and chunked. After selling all this junk we bought the much needed Glasses of Identification, AC 3 Bracers and Traveler's Robe all for Wesorc.

We will likely solve the circus problem next session.

Grit - elven wild mage (update 3)

Progress is still hard graft with the constant need to remember to use the RoAC before buffing.  However, Grit has kept going well and had no particular alarms this morning.  Things should keep getting easier in the future (up until ToB anyway).

She started the session by looting the Harper HQ.  Once more I tried surrounding Lucette, but again she disappeared just before dying - the golem hit hard, but a fire elemental unfortunately missed her twice in a row and the other summons didn't do much damage.

She undertook Mae'Var's tasks, getting to level 12 by stealing a necklace from the temple of Talos.  While she was in the process of returning that, Sansuki called for help - Grit responded by killing the vampires using her wand of fire - though too late to save Sansuki himself.  Rayic used most of his spells on summons, including a skeleton warrior.  He was then caught in a malisoned stinking cloud and died of cloudkills just before a final skull trap arrived.  Grit went on to invade the thieves guild without difficulty - Mae'Var and his men being exposed by their lack of magic weapons!

With far too much money in her possession, Grit went to get Vecna and another batch of spells.  Some of that money was immediately replaced by looting both thieves guilds and she bought the last couple of spell scrolls she wanted from the Promenade before moving on to the Bridge District.  I couldn't resist allowing her to use vampiric touch there to finish Parisa off (she was about to die at the hands of 2 fire elementals anyway) before using Grit's remaining funds to buy more scrolls.

With improved haste and phantom blade now available she went to the Graveyard.  The first target was to clear the spiders downstairs - that was soon done with summons and cloudkills.  Pai'Na was slaughtered by skeletons after she had summoned her spiders - they all died in a cloudkill immediately after that.  The ioun stone, spell immunity and Kitthix were all very useful acquisitions there.  She used a protection from undead scroll to clear the Southern tombs (phantom blades and skull traps doing most of the damage), getting to level 13 in the process.  After selling stuff she then cleared the top of the Graveyard - using another scroll of undead protection just to make things easy.

She had now bought all the scrolls she wanted in Athkatla so went to the Temple sewers to investigate Roger's potion stock.  While there an improved hasted skeleton warrior helped dispose of the sea troll and rakshasa.  Then a return to the old favourite - 4 webs, 3 cloudkills, 2 stinking clouds and a partridge in a pear tree 2 skull traps leaving no-one alive in Tarnor's party.  The loot from that was more than enough to buy the good stuff from Roger.

While in the sewers she started the Unseeing Eye quest to get access to the lich.  She then used another undead protection scroll, supplemented by an oil of speed and 4 phantom blades to kill the Athkatla liches.  MMM, plus improved haste and DUHM took over for the demi-lich.  One of Grit's 6 MMM spells surged, but the others were just sufficient to kill Kangaxx without the need to try and generate more MMM by NRD (or use scrolls).

She used the Rod of Terror and the Ring of Human Influence to manipulate her charisma down/up to 25 - the minotaurs and pirates getting it down to 0 and a skeleton left over from the mage providing the final step.

Back at the Bridge District she used spell immunity for the first time to get the berserk warrior.  Then she moved on to find and release a kidnap victim - that took her to level 14.

Ishtar, 3rd BG2 update

Nalia's keep

Group got ambushed by the infamous Orogs en route. We decided that the risk involvd isn't exactly worth the reward, and simply ran away.

image.jpg

The keep itself was easy. Yuan-ti mage spread his damaging spells on numerous targets, hence vastly diminished his overall damage output - he was put out of his misery swiftly after Keldorn's 2nd dispel was succesfull.
image.jpg

Torgal itself was basically flawless victory. Our positioning was nigh-perfect, Ishtar charged the front, Minsc took the flank, Keldorn opened with True Seeing, Nalia with Chaos, while Yoshi and more importantly Anomen stood behind, keeping aura clean for any neccecary countermeasures.
image.jpg

Chaos connects, and basically affects everyone apart one Yuan-ti mage and Elder Umber hulk - even Torgal got confused (this is actually bad - he won't die until confusion wears off)

image.jpg[/url]

Keldorn hits the non-confused Yuan-ti with a succesfull Dispel, we gang up and kill him fast.
image.jpg

few more rounds, everybody's dead apart the confused yuan-ti mage and Torgal, who can't yet die.

Final Dispel gets rid of yuan-ti's protections.

image.jpg

After Torgal's confusion wore off, he finally drops to the ground while Nalia finishes him off.
image.jpg

Back to the city, to fight Sorcerous Amon and his gang - Ishtar gets hit by Remove magic, it works on him but Minsc's buffs are still on. Nalia's Chaos is in the air just as Orcslicer dies.
image.jpg

Chaos connects - everybody fails the save. :D
image.jpg

We simply mop them up.
image.jpg

Time for sewers Hatchetman gang. Again, Nalia opens with her only level 5 spell Chaos - had some effect, but the most important target, Gaius, was still operational.
image.jpg

Draug Fea is the first to die, Flesh golem nailed him down.
image.jpg

We kill one of the clerics, most of the enemies are still confused, Gaius summoned a Nishruu near Nalia (or Hakaeshar...?), and Ishtar gets hit by Breach. That's all fine, I prefer Breach over Prismatic spray and the like.
image.jpg

Hakaeshar needs to go down quickly, so we focus on him. Some goblins spawned from nowhere.
image.jpg

Keldorn finally succesfully dispels Gaius, who conjurers up an Earth Elemental near Nalia; who is casting slow to prevent the goblins from doing any harm.

image.jpg

Even debuffed, Gaius launches a succesfull Chaos upon us. Goblin shaman casts Entangle, slowing everybody down to a crawl.
image.jpg

Keldorn removes confusion off Ishtar, and Gaius finally dies.
image.jpg

Zorl was the last one to go down. We do the Elemental and goblins with little trouble afterward.

image.jpg

Still buffed, we kill the Rakshasa down there as well.
image.jpg

Now we are apperantly safe from city ambushes - enemies run upon seeing us.

image.jpg

Did the Sir Sarles ilithium and Dawn ring quests, no trouble there. I must say Unger Hilldark has probably one of the best portraits I have seen thus far.
image.jpg

image.jpg

image.jpg

Also did Shade Lord. Ishtar tanked w/o Death Ward - I forgot to use it- this might have ended very badly, but I remembered just in time.
image.jpg

Quick buff from Anomen...
image.jpg

A hit from upgraded Mace of Disruption kills him off.

Ishtar, 4th BG2 update

I wanted to do some, but not too much stuff prior sailing off to Spellhold.

Firk's lair was next.

First annoying battle is the one vs Transmuter Rakshasa. (btw, if he's a Transmuter, how can he cast Abjuration spells!?). Anyhow, Keldorn dispeled him and the battle was rather short.

image.jpg

He pulled off a Cloudkill, tried for Confusion (failed)
image.jpg

and finally died to Minsc.
image.jpg

Vampires and Mummies were dealt with fast with Chaos+MoD
image.jpg

Samia's gang - Chaos + keldorn's Dispel Evil on their mage (succeeded 2 times)
[image.jpg

This battle is very very easy, almost dissapointing at this point in the game.
image.jpg

Tazok is immune to confusion via his berserk state, but it does not prevent damage...
image.jpg

And here is Conster, stripped down naked.
image.jpg

He succeeded in casting nothing, and was slain in 2 rounds.
image.jpg

Ishtar was awarded Paladin stronghold just as Anomen became a knight. A glorious day indeed.
image.jpg

Did the stronghold quests now. Nalia mostly took care of the first duty we were sent to
image.jpg

while Keldorn took care of the 2nd one. Run mage run!

Last quest is very tricky. As soon as the battle started, Nalia casts Haste, and Keldorn True Seeing. This reveals the invisible thief heading straight upstairs to kill the lass.
Success!

We return downstairs, kill off the remaining enemies, and Detect Evil is used to show imposter's true intentions. He was killed swiftly.

Our reward is a wonderful set of armor for Ishtar - he needs to fear Chaos no more.

This armor also makes him immune to critical hits, so he can (but he doesn't ...yet) switch Fortress Shield for something else.

Now we pay 15k to Shadow Thieves. First quest (Mook) was probably the worst battle yet - plenty of people charmed, both spellcasters level drained (I hate re-memorizing spells). Still, we pulled it off.

Upon returning, Ishtar gained level 12, obtaining a new unique Cavalier spell - Divine retaliation - sorta magic damage fireshield, which triggers when attack is attempted, albeit only once per round (I slightly modified this from the current Kit Revisions version)

We dealt with vampires swiftly, fully protected, while MoD was devestating as always. Bodhi remained neutral until Grimwarders were slain, and then ran away after a single atempted attack at Ishtar....weird. Regardless, we return with news of our success, and set sail for Imoen.

Oh, and almost forgot - had our first death in BG2 - Yoshi, poisoned, panicked and insect swarmed. No chunk here.

Nice going, Aasim. I like reading your updates.

Which mod adds portraits to characters you are having conversations with (e.g. Prelate Wessalen and Lassal in your screenies). It has always bothered me that there are so few of them in BG2.

It's called NSCPortraits. I wanted to post a link to it, but was unable to find one. I can upload it to Mediafire if you're interested.

Yes, please. :)

I could not find it either. I did find a downloadable .rar archive that my ancient WinRar deemed as corrupt, so it could not extract it.

Here. It's a 17MB download, and you'll need BGT (afaik it won't work with BG2 only). Hope that works for you.

Good job so far Aasim, KR cavalier looks interesting to play.

Chaos connects, and basically affects everyone apart one Yuan-ti mage and Elder Umber hulk - even Torgal got confused (this is actually bad - he won't die until confusion wears off)

I just realized the g3 fixpack makes TorGal buggier than he is in vanilla by giving him MONHP1.itm and not the associated immunity to script-breaking effects. I guess I'll need to include him in polytweak 3.0 trolls component (he worked fine in vanilla and Tactics and would "just" die).

This battle is very very easy, almost dissapointing at this point in the game.

Out of interest, v3 will include tougher Conster and Samia. Also tougher Kuo Toa including their prince, vamps (they were previously an afterthought, I just fixed their levels so the tweaked MoD works properly on them) and some other battles that I've always found boring like the undead guarding Korgan's book, Umar Hills temple (before the Shade Lord), the WK green dragon, Nyalee and the Oasis in ToB.

Any reason to keep Yoshi in the party when you have Nalia? Do you just like him as a character?

Grit - elven wild mage (update 4)

Progress with Grit still feels like hard work, so just a short session this morning.

She started off by solving the skinner murders - enemies being lured upstairs into the arms of a first use of mordy swords.

Then she did the temple quests.  Sir Sarles got the real illithium this time as it's no use to Grit.  She also made a first successful use of a triple skull trap sequencer on the Fallen Paladins.
Fallenpaladins.jpg
That only left a single paladin for mordy swords to mop up.  With too much money being carried around again she then relieved Mrs Cragmoon of a few potions.

Back to the Temple sewers, where a couple of skeleton warriors were too much for Mekrath.  They were no match for a bunch of umber hulks though - Grit made use of her fire wand for those.  She then followed Haer'Dalis to the Planar Prison where she entered invisibly and used another skull trap sequencer to clean up most of the Bounty Hunters - summons accounting for the lone mage.  That battle took her to level 15.  More skull traps accounted for a group of umber hulks before Grit stayed safely out of the way while summons killed the Master of Thralls.  There were more summons for the Warden, though Grit had to use a mordy sword scroll to finish him off when she ran out of her memorised spells.  She also went into sight of the Warden when he was at near death and she thought he was concentrating on the sword - and got a flaming arrow for her pains.  That was slightly careless play, so I decided to end the session there before she got into any more serious trouble.
