The concept of AC in D&D is not just about strength of armour, but also encompasses things like speed and ability to dodge. That's why a monk's AC continues to improve with levels. Salira's is not yet low enough to be reliable against dragons though, so she did make a rare use of Ilbratha mirrors - allowing her the extra time to slug it out against Thaxy.

I've certainly done it before, yes, though I don't think for a while - someone else did have that joy quite recently.

Taking that rod out of the sewers has taken out quite a few no-reloaders at least once, including myself and Alesia_BH. This is one reason the best thing is to do the Unseeing Eye quest in one session, so you don't "forget" you are carrying it, and that you need to return it before exiting the sewers of the Unseeing Eye...
@Grond0: It tough to teach Melissan a lesson if you let the gods slay you...was there any items in the Unseeing Eye that you even needed? You don't need that experience solo do you?

Level 12 Coremonk III Update - Guarded Compound, Sir Sarles
Traveling with: Mazzy, Korgan, Jaheira, Yoshimo, Aerie (love of Coremonk III's life)
Coremonk III decided it was time to face the enemies that slew Coremonk II (guarded compound party). First though Coremonk III and pals had to clear the downstairs - not too much trouble, though Coremonk III did run away after taking a big hit and healed back up.
Max buffs on Coremonk III (of course). Because of the traps I had the AI off. The plan was for the melees to do their summons, while Coremonk spammed silence from Namuraa, and Aerie did a slow and silence herself, with Jaheira doing an insect plague. This worked great, no deaths, you can see the battle raging below.
Soon victory was achieved...with the new funds we purchased the AC 3 bracers for Aerie. We also purchased a Blackblood club for Jaheria.
We also batled Mencar Pebblecrusher's gang - or maybe I should say Aerie did - she threw quite a few area effects into the room - we got everyone but the elusive Risling - we don't need his stuff though so that's OK.
Next, was doing the ring-a-role for Sir Sarles - he didn't like our alloy it seems. The temple of Helm did though...We also played Neb a visit - he didn't live long thanks to Aerie's true seeing.
We paid off Galen Bayle and got our goodies. I was surprised, but Coremonk III can wear the AoP - this will come in handy. Guess that's because in many ways the game treats monks like clerics. (cleric hit dice, can use cleric wands, etc.). At this point I also noticed the Claw of Kazagaroth got dispelled - time to do remove curse and replace with +2 ring.
Next session, will likely try to forge the Improved Mace of Disruption, as well as pay Kangaxx a visit - Coremonk would like some save improvements.

Did you hand Neds' head in for the +1 rep?

Did you hand Neds' head in for the +1 rep?
Nope. I am intentionally delaying that, our rep is 17 at the moment. I will probably save just before Brynnlaw, since with slayer change it becomes much easier to manage reputation.

Level 13 Coremonk III Update - Twisted Rune Hide-out, Kangaxx, Mekrath's Lair
Traveling with: Mazzy, Korgan, Jaheira, Yoshimo, Aerie
Permanently dead: Minsc
The team continues to make progress. The team battled a hostile party in the bridge district in a warehouse - plague of insects shut them down pretty good, except Aerie was getting hit hard by an archer - so she used her golem book to put a golem by the archer, and then that was that.
Money is still really, really bad. This is mainly as we don't have the ring of human influence (forgot to loot in time). However, we did have enough for a scroll of magic protection. This, along with a few potions, allowed Korgan to solo Kangaxx without too much difficulty. The ring of Gaxx went to Coremonk, to help his AC and saves.
The scroll of magic protection was still active - we hurried to the sewers to battle Mekrath, ignoring loot until he is defeated - Korgan did in fact win the battle before the scroll wore out - good. We came undone vs. umber hulks - Coremonk III gets confused and is dying! I paused and carefully looked at everything - Korgan AI attacking Coremonk III with his Stonefire and Frostweaver. Turned off AI and concentrated fire on the umber hulks - Coremonk III lives! Close call there...
Coremonk III was feeling brave, so the group ventured into the Twisted Rune Hide-out. This was quite the battle, as it often is. First step was to lay lots of snares for Shangalar - this took him out. Good, Good.
But the rest of the battle had some issues. Korgan was supposed to tank the beholder, with the Shield of Balduran, while Mazzy was to tank the vampire with the Improved Mace of Disruption. Both of these tactics ran into issues. For one, I forgot (once again) that the vamp needed +3 weapons, so Mazzy wasn't doing any damage to the vamp. Secondly, once the party moved to range the beholder, a portrait disappeared!! Jaheira got petrified! However, Coremonk III came to her rescue and quickly used his ring of earth control to put her back in business, before she got hit and chunked (fireballs are coming, eventualy).
The beholder died next. Korgan then moved to the vamp, while Coremonk III worked on the thief. The thief died, okay good, good, vamp follows shortly there-after. However, Layene did Finger of Death on Mazzy and Mazzy dies.
The party could not damage Layene for a LONG time (no dispels or breaches - Aerie doesn't even know that spell yet). There was another problem - Korgan got dominated and was attacking the party! Jaheira tanked Korgan quite well, fortunately. We take a lot of mojo, but finally Layene runs out of Protection from Magic weapons and she falls. The staff of Magi went to Aerie.
We rested at the Five Flagons to have Aerie bring Mazzy back to speed. We sell, and will likely do Dock District quests next - haven't done those yet.

Bg2ee run update 1.25,
For whom the bell tolls; by Puk,
I was a little surprised to hear Neera profess her feelings before we entered the tree of life but the frill of battle soon pushed that misty thought from my mind as I noticed the gap in the mages defence --- no block against fire tipped the edge and we moved into bg2ee hell.

I did the trials anti-clockwise;
Pride was pushed aside and the dragon looked pleased to see I could be polite.
Fear was conquered with the help of Neera… well her pet.
I was tempted to be selfish but Aerie has stood by me since I escaped out into the Promenade so I held firm, to take the punishment aimed at her.
Greed was easy to defeat because Haer'Dalis has swift fingers --- the sword refused to be tricked into our inventory but we didn’t need it any way.
Wraith Sarevok couldn’t taunt me and the group made quick work of him.
The show down,
I put out a Deva, skeleton, Fire Lord and Hakeashar and Haer'Dalis set his trap as a fall back with his rest resetting the spell.
I decided to stand my ground and Neera fired 6 'Abi Dalzim's Horrid Wilting' in two sets of which knocked the enemy Slayer down to near dead both times and finished off his adds but he wouldn’t die after rounds of melee so we retreated to the fall back trap that did another massive hit of health.

I didn’t want to be cheated out of the battle by a time stopped slayer so I stayed well out of the melee as the group shoved enough damage into the slayer to kill him a dozen times over only to see him instantly heal repeatedly back to full health… with nothing else for it I’m going down fighting… yes, yes I want to be a Slayer!

To be clear, I’m not a fan of fixpack and bg2ee is bugged but the scs final battle is rigged against group play--- however, I was warned at scs install time that this battle doesn’t follow the game rules so I’m ok with the loss.

While you are OK with the loss, I feel sad of it...
It was a pleasure to follow Puk's run. Looking forward for the next one.

The iMoD should count as a +4 weapon (making it a good weapon for hitting Kangaxx with) - does that not work in your installation? Nice save against the umber hulks by the way.
@ ussnorway. Sorry to see Puk go down, but it looked like a brave attempt.

No, it's a +2 in my install. It CAN kill Kangaxx, but it's by it's proc, not damage. The vamp in this case, probably had too good saves vs. death.
Thanks! The umber hulks was a little close, Korgan might have doing most of the damage, got to watch things carefully if someone gets confused, it's tricky sometimes when we are all bunched together.

@corey_russell, shord sword of the mask (main hand) and mace in the off hand?
As for what to do different, I know two mages will do the damage but his scripts are what stops him from dieing.
Thanks for the wishes everyone & I will not be playing that battle again until I see a group counter.
p.s Puk will return in bgee... perhaps a Druid or Bard?

As I mentioned in my posts, funds are really low (like 1k gold), so no sword of mask. I'm grooming her to use the Foebane, however, so she could have done what you are suggesting with that weapon. She would take a significant Thac0 hit (no two weapon skill - or skill with mace or bastard sword!). It's all moot, though as once I realized what was happening, Korgan made short work of the vampire with his 3 attacks per round and 2 +3 axes.

Coremonk III the level 15 monk - Chapter 2 complete
Traveling with: Mazzy, Korgan, Jaheira, Yoshimo, Aerie
Coremonk III have finished their chapter two quests/battles. Next session will be headed to Brynnlaw. Incidents of note:
* Jaheira defended Coremonk III from Galvarey. Her plague of insects plus Aerie's chaos once again made short work of the enemies.
* Prebek and Sansha fell to plague of insects and chaos as well.
* Maevar and his guild was finished. There weren't any problems doing the tasks for this quest. Rayic Gethras was soloed by a buffed up Korgan.
* Tried to find Montaron, but found an assassin instead for Xzar.
* Firkraag's dungeon cleared - Samia's group also could not survive the chaos/plague of insects combo. Korgaon soloed the undead with a scroll, while Conster was put to near death with a few snares.
* Firkraag himself was also defeated. Not a lot of buffs, mostly resist fear/fire. Yoshimo laid down 7 snares and we had an aerial servant and two fire elementals. The party attacked - somewhat fittingly, Coremonk III got the kill shot, making Firkraag his most powerful vanquished.
Party is itching to head for sea (well except for Korgan), so will chase down Imoen next session.
