@BlackRaven - Golem's Cursed Wound is unfortunatelly bugged on EE. It's not removable by Heal, Restorations etc. even in original game (any type of healing apart regen items won't work) but Remove Curse should do it (theoretically - on EE it simply doesn't work :( ).

At least golems are amongst the "stupid AI" oponnents which will usually hit whatever is near them (summons). :D

@Blackraven: I found your answer. Change your SCS INI file and add/edit this entry:

  • No_Cursed_Golem_Wounds(0) - set to 1 to bypass the cursed wounds caused by Clay Golems.

You have to reinstall SCS with this setting for this to work. Altering it after SCS is installed makes no difference.

Bgee run update 2S1.2,

Hear text as mp3,

Gathering like-minded individuals; by Sarah,

We powered through the dungeon stopping only to collect some of my old gear… I’ve never felt so happy to find a couple of crappy low level scrolls. Imoen got arrested and I sold just about everything to pay for a magic licence and skedaddled out of the city… I still have no clear idea of what this ****** wants me for but I’ve had enough of his courting to know that I don’t want any more.

2s-baldr003.jpg2s-baldr004.jpg

p.s. just hooked up with a pretty Ranger with the same name as me… perhaps it’s fate?

Russell VII the solo undead hunter - update 5

Russell VII is finally to start feeling powerful. Fully buffed, he took down Tarnor's Gang rather easily, he didn't even need to gulp a heal potion.

Baldr253_zps68aa707b.png

Aran's quests are done, except for Bodhi's Lair - the Mace of Disruption is picked up, will use on Kangaxx eventually. For now though, working on gathering the Kangaxx parts.

Gate70/Grond0 multiplayer attempt 59 - (update 4)

May, human necromancer (Grond0) & Blaggerd, human blackguard (Gate70)

A short session yesterday saw this duo closing in on the remainder of their Chapter 3 quests.

At Umar Hills they did the initial quests.  May also decided to annoy Fael in the expectation that he would summon his mage friends for a decent fight.  In the event though Fael collapsed immediately from the effect of a cloudkill - booksellers are clearly not as tough as they used to be ;).

At the temple area Blaggerd had a play with his foodshadows before getting down to serious business with the iMoD.  The undead inside the temple were easy enough - a mordy sword helping occupy a lich's attention while Blaggerd destroyed it.

Thaxy initially fought back against Blaggerd, but then made the mistake of focusing on a mordy sword instead and paid the ultimate penalty.  The Shade Lord didn't even manage to survive a sunray.

After picking up Valygar's body to grease the locks the duo entered the Planar Sphere.  They've just arrived at Lavok having been largely untroubled en route.  The halflings might have been a problem after they mazed Blaggerd, but nearly all of them were sitting in a cloudkill at the time and didn't have much health left by the time Blaggerd reappeared (May had used a ring to disappear in the meantime).

Stats:

May, necromancer 16, 61 HPs (incl. 6 from familiar, 5 from ioun stone), 290 kills

Blaggerd, blackguard 16, 134 HPs (incl. 5 from helm), 507 kills, 0 deaths (1 in BG1)

Lots of nice activity going on here, keep it up!  :)

Thanks Aasim for the info. I changed my SCS .ini file so that Clay Golems no longer inflict the Cursed Wounds curse, and re-installed SCS for that change to take effect.
Here's my slighty adapted WEIDU-log for BG2EE (without the "Recently Uninstalled" mentions). Note that Improved Vampires is automatically skipped because that component apparently causes crashes in BG2EE.
Spoiler
In Watcher's Keep, level 2, Thani slew two Fire Giants with great difficulty (kiting them around the portals, healing and GWW'ing them).
She was exhausted after the two Giants were down, and needed another rest. A terrible nightmare in which she was being battered by monsters and couldn't heal herself with her potions had her decide to leave the haunted Keep, and to return to Athkatla. At the Adventurer mart she bought Balduran's Plate (I had 60+ k GP, and almost nothing to spend it on).
There, she reminded herself of <strike>the Boots of Speed</strike> Haer'Dalis, so she picked up the portal gem at her dockside home and paid the Five Flagons a visit. She killed of various extraplanar beings that came out of the portal until the bards all disappeared through it, taken by bounty hunters. She DUHM'ed and went after the troupe. The Dwarf was immediately attacked by the bounty hunters: two Yuan-Ti Mages, two warriors and two backstabbers. None of them could really hurt her, or to be more exact: they did hurt her, but her impressive hit point pool kept her going while she would successfully retalliate with her GWWs. (She had 5, and would gain another a bit later. She also has 2x Hardiness which, together with the DoE should help her endure the very hard physical fights). The magic thrown at her was harmless except for a spell sequenced triple Skull Trap. One of the Yuan-Ti Mages was hard to kill due to a Fireshield; she took the reptile down with her trusty Tuigan Bow. She had barely done so when the talking Wyvern appeared as well. It was no match for Thani's flails though.
With the Boots of Speed equipped she rushed though the corridors past Thralls and Yuan-Ti toward the Master of Thralls and slew it with a GWW. She had to finish off two Air Elementals to provide herself with the leeway for an escape, back to the heat source in which she destroyed the Master's orb, setting all the Thralls free. They helped her take care of the Yuan-Ti Warriors and Mages, or at least to distract them. The Helm of Charm Protection was equipped when a Dire Charm she saw a Dire Charm come her way. I must admit that a Chaos was saved against. (Thani's save vs spell was 1, but Chaos imposes a save penalty. It's situations like this that make me realize I'm not a great player and that the Dwarven race is my new favorite race hehe)
The path to the Warden was now clear but Thani decided to rest first (not very realistic, but she wanted to have sufficient GWWs). She then brought forth a Vhailor's simulacrum of herself. The Simmy and she cast MI  via Ilbratha, and the real Thani summoned a lesser Fire Elemental and cast a Fireshield red on herself. They rushed the Warden, who was however well-protected against the party's physical attacks, and besides accompanied by more Yuan-Ti, so they retreated. She was surprised that the Warden didn't immediately follow them. He cast a Time Stop when Thani & Co were well out of sight. I feared a Dark Planetar, but he mainly buffed himself. Unlike the Warden, the Yuan-ti did follow suit, allowing Thani, the simmy and the fire elemental to finish them off, even though the simmy got Dire Charmed at one point.
Spoiler
As she didn't want to face the Warden alone, Thani allowed herself a second rest, after which she approached it with the same buffs and summons as she had done the first time. Interestingly the Warden busied itself mostly with successfully buffing itself (apparently immune to normal weapons and with PfMW to magical weapons as well). With less success, and rather unnecessarily, it tried to debuff Thani with slows, dispelling magic and charms. The Warden didn't cast a second Time Stop, nor did it summon a Dark Planetar or even cast PW Blind. Thani initially kept her distance, exposing her simmy and the elemental to the gravest risks, but that didn't even seem necessary. All in all it was a remarkably easy fight (less epic in my experience than that with Tolgerias for example), in which all the Warden managed to do was to stay its own execution, until the Fire Elemental ended the fight with a nice critical.
These are Thani's character record and inventory screen:
Thani is now a level 28 Wizard Slayer with 6 GWWs, 2 Hardinesses (and 1 WW). She has 201 HP with the Helm and Plate of Balduran (192 without those items). Her weapons of choice are the FoA +3 and the DoE +3 (grandmastery in flails). She's also specialized (**) in shortbows, maces, axes and dualwielding.
Her Saves are -1/-1/3/3/0 (with the Helm of Balduran). I wonder whether she ought to have imported the Claw of Kazgaroth into SoA, for even better saves. She would have needed a weapon or item to protect her against death magic though. Thani's MR is 48 atm, and can be improved by 10 with the Sword of Balduran she bought a while ago. Other weapons she keeps at hand are: Improved MoD, Ras, Ilbratha, Belm, Dragonslayer, Staves of Air and Fire, Foebane and Tuigan Bow. Armor, shields and helmets she keeps in her Bag of Holding are: Aeger's Hide, Reflection Shield, Fortress Shield, Dragon Scale Shield, Shield of Fyrus Khal, Shield of Harmony, Helmet of Defense, Dragon Helm, Helm of Charm Protection, Vhailor's Helm.
She has completed almost all the quests available in Chapter 2-3.
However there are still a number of optional fights I might save for later (or simply forget about): the Unseeing Eye is still floating around somewhere in lair of the cult, both Thaxxy and Firkraag are slumbering in their respective lairs, no liches have been fought, the guarded compound is still being guarded, and Thani has never heard of the Twisted Rune, nor has she investigated the use of the Sewer Key she found on Tazok's corpse. Is any of these fights worth fighting in terms of loot before having Thani leave Athkatla for Brynnlaw?

Of the things you listed, the Unseeing Eye drops the 5% MR amulet, that might useful - Firkraag scales makes fire resistant armor, plenty of enemies use that kind of attack.  Otherwise I can't think of anything else a WS would need from the remaining encounters.

Corey thanks. I think WS can't equip the amulet you mentioned. Afaik, the only amulet they can use is the one that Ellessime gives charname (10% MR). I've thought of the red dragon scale armor, very nice, but difficult to acquire... I'll give it some more thought :) I wonder whether Thani and the Simmy would be able to prevent Firkraag if they both attack him with GWW while he's still neutral (16 attacks in one round). I guess that if they fail Thani can still leave, like she did with Unseeing Eye.

Strictly speaking, as long as you have green fire protection scrolls, you really wouldn't need the armor - it's -1 AC, but full plate + +2 ring gives same AC, plus extra defense to piercing and slashing attacks. Just remember Firkraag sees thru any invisibility, so run for your life if you need to retreat. You could probably beat Firkraag if you could use Rods of Resurrection (for heals) but I guess you probably can't use that. Dispelling arrows would be of use though...

Russell VII the solo level 16 Undead Hunter - Update 6

Russell VII continues to make rapid progress. It's amazing how much time micro-management of parties slows down a run in real time - and I use AI extensively whenever possible in my parties...Russell VII has been really, really efficient.

* Using the same pro undead scroll, he defeated both liches that have the Kangaxx parts as well as the Gates district lich. To get the Daystar, it was necessary to use a Frost Giant potion + DUHM (25 STR). I had to use the same trick to bust the door down for the gates district lich, as well as to get to Kangaxx.

* Using same protection from magic scroll, Kangaxx was defeated (auto-killed by IMoD in two rounds), berserker horn (cool), and even Mekrath. Russell VII quickly set off all the traps in Mekrath's lair while he was protected. The extra loot was good, using a lot of gold.

* To forge the IMoD, had to do the Sir Sarles quest - obviously the fake alloy was given to him, then the Temple of Helm.

* Spells have been of some use - skeleton helpers, resist fear, and death ward being most relevant. His save vs. spells with the Gaxx ring is 1.

* Number of vampire ambushes, but Russell VII always keeps the charm helmet equipped to prevent domination.

* Mencar Pebblecrusher's gang defeated - surprisingly it did NOT require any extra potions - using buffs from spells/equipment, plus what summons he had, he managed to win a very clean fight - he didn't even have to gulp an extra healing potion. Even Brennan Risling went down.

* Maevar's quest complete - the key fight as always is Rayic Gethras - however with death ward, there really wasn't much Rayic could do and Rayic fell to two "excellent" axes. Well OK, not quite complete, Maevar has to be killed, but everything else is done.

Really looking forward to level 5 spells, True Seeing would be a huge help. But the quest must go on...

Well it's the other way around. Thani can use the Rod of Resurrection (from Mekrath iirc, good that you mention it, will buy a second one from Ribald). No rings though. I guess I'll just have her make do with Balduran's Plate, bought from Deidre (also AC -1). Firkraag isn't really a must; she has 3 PfFire scrolls.

Btw good progress there with Russell!

Bg2 run update 2S1.3,

Hear text as mp3,

No darkness prevails; by Sarah,

We stayed in Umber just long enough to fetch some imp blood and negotiated a truce with the ogres but refused to get alcohol for some kids… and instead, followed the clues to an abandoned temple where the last member of our group joined up.

2s-baldr006.jpg2s-baldr007.jpg

We were seriously under gunned in here with magic weapons that aren’t great and Puk couldn’t fully ‘Turn’ yet… all thou he could install fear which proved very helpful for the lava room battle. Puk did his ‘Turn’ to keep the shadows away and Mazzy (her small sword) killed the un-dead with help from Sarah (+2 two-handed sword) and Jaheira (+1 staff)… Jan used his (mirror imaged) Ogre form to tank the Huge Bone Gollum until the un-dead warrior fell then switched to the fend because the halberd counts as a magic weapon and can hurt it--- I mostly just looked good in black and tried not to get in the way.

2s-baldr008.jpg2s-baldr009.jpg

Shade Lord;
We decided that destroying the alter should slow the spread of evil until we could return to finish the job… and concentrated fire worked but this Shade Lord, wasn’t as fierce as we expected we battled on and managed a somewhat messy victory.

p.s. am I the only one that thinks it weird a Shade Lord isn’t immune to poison damage?

Depending on strategy a WS might be tempted by the katana at the Guarded Compound.  Even non-proficient that offers tactical possibilities when you have GWWs.

Do you get access to level 5 spells (other than potentially through the book in Brynnlaw)?

I should. A paladin, once high enough level, becomes a level 9 caster (and no higher) - should give me 1 level 5 spell I thought. Is that incorrect?

Paladin casts spells as if he is  8 levels lower than his actual level. You'll get Greater Skeleton warriors at level 23, while clerics get it at 15.

In an unmodified game you get up to 3 spells of each level; up to level 4. You won't be getting level 5 spells regardless of your level.

Bg2 run update 2S1.4,

Pass the ammunition; by Sarah,

Umber hills gave us a shield and some nice leather armour… both went to Puk then we decided to see what Trademeet looks like?

2s-baldr011.jpg2s-baldr012.jpg

Turns out they were busy slaughtering animals and asked us if we would mind putting a stop to it? The trek took us to a druid grove and Trolls… we held our own against the normal ones with spells but then some of the spirit types showed up and we didn’t have any more magic ammo so Puk popped summons to cover a hasty retreat.

2s-baldr013.jpg2s-baldr014.jpg2s-baldr015.jpg2s-baldr016.jpg

Things didn’t look too good but I remembered hearing about a place called watchers keep with lots of magic ammo just lying around so we gave it a shot… the front door was only guarded with fire methods and we fought off some spiders for an ammo belt, wand of the heavens and two different bags of limitless ammo. Mazzy fetched some slippers for a ghost as a good deed which gave her the ability to learn a new (bastard sword) weapon proficiency then I purchased Cloudkill, Otiluke's Resilient Sphere and Skull trap just as a messager arrived to give Jan bad news from home… we are still fledglings but at least we don’t feel so naked now that we have some real weapons.

Lilah, half-elven neutral evil mage/thief, update 2

I had some time to play again two days ago, so here's another update.

Lilah explored the copper coronet, freeing Hendak and entering the sewers. After obtaining Lirlarcor, the slaver base was assaulted and all of the opponents killed.

After another ambush was stopped by horror, Lilah completed some minor quests and explored the small graveyard crypts, killing the crypt king. Next, Xzar's disciples died thanks to holy smite and the harper quest was solved. This triggered Jaheira's questline, and soon Lilah had to fight the false harpers, using holy smite, slow, greater malison and emotion.

The party also completed the Mae'var questline, killing Rayic Gethras with ease and destroying the guild and its leader.

Some additional minor quests included the fallen paladins, the bridge murders, the buried alive quest, Neb and getting some mimic blood. With all the gold, Lilah bought all of Ribald's useful items plus the Robe of Vecna and the Shield of Balduran.

Next, the party will explore the temple ruins.

Gate70/Grond0 multiplayer attempt 59 - (update 5)

May, human necromancer (Grond0) & Blaggerd, human blackguard (Gate70)

More progress today saw the duo arrive in Brynnlaw.

They started the session in the Planar Sphere.  There was an immediate slight problem there when Blaggerd was stunned by Lavok; May moved closer to attack herself and was stunned herself.  However, Lavok didn't cast anything too harmful before Blaggerd recovered and moved in for the kill.  Being wary of being disabled again May stayed well back while Blaggerd went to cut out a demon heart.  She did though contribute some cloudkills to cause problems for Tolgerias and did much of the golem killing in the engine room with the crimson dart - though Blaggerd speeded things up at the end with a FoA assault.

Catching up on a few missed encounters the duo picked up a ransom and invaded the slaver ship.  May was tempted to use her new incendiary cloud there, but stuck to cloudkill as she couldn't yet protect Blaggerd from fire.  She did though use the fire to good effect to deal with the lich on the way to the Unseeing Eye - Blaggerd used the shield of Balduran to subdue the beholders there as well as causing double trouble with a first use of his simmy.

After returning the rod the nearby Guarded Compound was a tempting target.  By this time May was able to produce a planetar, but her first one of those was quickly killed (probably stunned by Celestial Fury).  However, a replacement soon saw the enemies hit the floor.

The final target for the session was the Twisted Rune.  PfU scrolls were used with the intention of preventing Shangalar taking action, but Blaggerd's protection was quickly stripped by Vaxall after he initially equipped the wrong shield.  However, with the planetar also attacking / dispelling Shangalar didn't last too long anyway and the remaining enemies were quickly overcome.  On the way to the Docks May stopped to help a merchant and was rewarded with the opportunity to buy a protection from fire scroll - that should allow more fireworks next time.

Stats:

May, necromancer 18, 63 HPs (incl. 6 from familiar, 5 from ioun stone), 355 kills

Blaggerd, blackguard 18, 140 HPs (incl. 5 from helm), 613 kills, 0 deaths (1 in BG1)

Russell VII the level 22 solo undead hunter - Update 7 - Chapter Two quests complete

Russell VII has completed the chapter two quests he is going to complete. He is about to be shipped to Brynnlaw.

He got his first HLA while doing the Unseeing Eye Quest, choice being Deva. His only scary moment was being swarmed with enemies when fighting the priests - he spammed the Namuraa silence ability though, and came thru in one piece.

Baldr254_zps614ce81b.png

He failed to keep the "bratty" girl safe of the family of anti-slavers, so got ejected from the Order of the Radiant Heart.

He did however, defeat Firkraag. His method of killing Firkraag was much different than usual. Deva tanked for a bit, and Russell VII did +2 arrows from Tuigan's Bow for a bit. He then switched to +2 bullets. Deva was eventually killed, but then Russell VII realized he forgot a haste potion. So he gulped a haste potion and ran all over the place, being sure to dispel Firkraag's haste with dispel arrows all the while. Eventually, Firkraag was "near death". Russell VII then did hardiness, ilbratha mirror image, then slammed Flail of the Ages and Frostweaver into Firkraag - Firkraag fell shortly thereafter. Carsomyr is now Rusell VII's!

Baldr255_zps6e2eba84.png

Using his new blade, he finished off Bodhi and her minions. Well okay, he actually used Azuredge in melee mode against Bodhi, with the help of a deva.

He is about to report to Linvail and be shipped off.

I feel good about this run so far.

Russell VII the level 22 solo Undead Hunter - Update 8 - Narrow escape!

Russell VII has won his battles cleanly so far, not relying on luck. However, that changed today - Russell VII tried to "assassinate" Perth the Adept while under sanctuary, trying a GWW with Carsomyr - however this did NOT work. Shortly there-after, Perth did a maze - there was a 50% chance of ending Russell VII's run right there. Tymora was smiling on him though and he resisted! Perth died shortly thereafter.

I'm not sure what a sure-fire maze defense would be for Russell VII - will have to ponder it.

Great job so far.

Unfortunately, both items SET the magic resist to 50%, neither adds 50%.

In Spellhold, Russell VII got a huge boon - his animate dead now produces skeletal warriors! They saw immediate use...the undead at the entrance to Spellhold, turn undead chunked them all! I haven't done either before, so all new to me...never really used pally turn undead before.

And thanks for the kudos! Will try to keep it up...

Sounds like good progress Corey - keep it going.  In my BGT installation Carsomyr does reset MR to 50% when equipped, but anything equipped after that (like Ring of Gaxx or an amulet) provides an addition.  You might want to experiment to see if that's the case for you.

Lilah, neutral evil half-elven mage/thief, update 3

Lilah fought her way through the temple ruins with little resistance, though after Jaheira's iron skins had run out, the party took some damage. Still, with some buffs here and there, the Shade Lord was quickly slain.

Next, the group travelled to Trademeet, entering the Druid's Grove and clearing the troll mound before fighting a group of shadow druids. With some of the more powerful magical weapons, the rakshasa were easily defeated, and so was another druid party. Jaheira challenged Faldorn and won with her summons.

Back in Athkatla, Lilah obtained Kitthix and cleared the crypt before Jaheira returned to Harper Hold and the party had to  get her.

On the way back, a tough fight ensued, with Jaheira panicking and almost being killed, though a remove fear, some potions and a couple of seconds later, everything looked fine again.

Now, Lilah entered De'Arnise Keep and fought her way upstairs, with Valygar backstabbing the yuan-ti mage. Glacias was quickly defeated, and the golems plus Tor'Gal quickly followed.

After buying some more items from Deidre and Trademeet, Lilah dealt with Anomen's sisters death and another harper ambush. She also destroyed the sewer party and Mekrath before returning to the bridge district - the planar prison will be next.
