Corarcher's team has just cleared out D'Arnise Keep - no trouble for our group. We've also found the evidence on Maevar and will deal with him permanently next session. We've also paid off Galen Bayle.
Bg2 run update 2S1.17,
Freedom fighting – part 1; by Sarah,
I asked around about sending home the knights of some sort (cost me 9000g) then purchased a new hat for Mazzy and recharged one of my wands. We returned to the slums determined to end these slavers… starting with the beast-master.

Puk dropped a 'Firestorm' and I fired my wand into the beast-masters hiding spot then Jan finished him off with a (wand) 'Lightning bolt'… stay tuned.
Nice work USSNorway, and interesting quest order
Bg2 run update 2S1.18,
Freedom fighting – part 2; by Sarah,
The knights of some sort gave me a nice belt as thanks for getting them home and we set ourselves to the task of freeing young orphan children with aoe and range tactics… pretty standard really, nothing to see here.

We sold the loot and recharged another (deathfog) wand then returned home to meet my new students… “a Sarah dagger has a nice ring to it so make me one of them ok guys” … what with freeing the slave mites and giving them some starting cash, my reputation has soared to (18) heroic level which should help convince the paladins to assist me with Bodhi when the time comes for a show down.
Gate70/Grond0 multiplayer attempt 66 - (update 1)
Chanter, half-elf cleric / mage (Grond0) & Tuori, halfling shadowdancer (Gate70)
A short session today saw this pairing on their way in Amn. They had no problems with the dungeon thanks to the availability of skeleton warriors - in enhanced edition skeletons scale up in power over time rather than making a sudden leap at level 15. Here one of the skeletons gets the final blow on Ulvaryl.
They just had time to sort out equipment and go to the circus. Chanter dominated Kalah and had him help kill the shadows before producing a skeleton to join in the attack on him.
Thus far the game has played well, with no crash on exit from the dungeon as has normally been the case in MP. If that keeps up then playing BG2 will be much more attractive than it's been up to now (which of course is our excuse for doing so poorly in our runs recently
).
Stats:
Chanter, cleric 7 / mage 7, 52 HPs (incl. 5 from Helm), 13 kills (138 in BG1)
Tuori, shadowdancer 10, 69 HPs, 26 kills (128 in BG1), 0 deaths (2 in BG1)
Good start Grond0 and Gate70. Hope your crashfree run will continue like this. (Didn't know about the Skellies, interesting...)
Fresh from Baldur's Gate:
Nymand, LN Elven Bounty Hunter
Nymand had a huge scare when he discovered that the door past the Mephit Portal room was magically warded. (I didn't know the portals had to be destroyed before the doors would open.) Doomed and blinded he searched his way back to the level portal in order to return whence he had come.
I'm quite content to have a Thief in Amn. Thieves are still my favorite D&D class, and I have a couple of mods installed (besides Rogue Rebalancing and Song & Silence, which are staples for me) that should make this playthrough extra interesting for a Thief, i.e. Expanded Thief Stronghold, Assassinations, Sellswords. Hope I can keep this up ![]()
Very nice work against the Twisted Rune Hide-out Grond0!
Gotta agree with Corey. excellent work there against the TR band and also in the Planar Prison, Grond0.
Nymand, Elf Bounty Hunter, update 2
Not a lot of progress to report, but a careful start in Athkatla has been made. Nymand solved the troubles at the Circus without difficulty (not letting the Shadows distract him, focusing instead directly on Kalah). Stealth helped him through the first ambush. He would have liked to acquire Arbane's Sword there, but felt himself insufficiently prepared to deal with a cleric and a mage, and so he walked off. A second ambush soon followed: poisoned Renfeld. Again, no blood was spilt. Nymand approached the ambushers hidden in shadows, picked up Renfeld, and brought the man to Rylock.
At the Copper Coronet he discovered that its owner, Lethinan, was keeping slaves to perform for his public. He battled the Beastmaster for the prison keys. This battle was complicated when Nymand inadvertently entered one of the fighting rings (locking himself in), rather than walking around it. Invisibility + oil of speed + duhm gave him the edge however against the Beastmaster. As soon as he found a way, he left the pit and used his increased speed to hide and backstab the pets.
A lone wolf, Nymand isn't one to associate himself with a Thieves Guild, but eager for gold he went to offer his services to the local Shadow Thieves nonetheless. He accepted to infiltrate a guildhouse for Renal Bloodscalp and look for proof of treachery by the manager of the guildhouse, Mae'Var. He did a simple job for Mae'Var and was then sent to work for Edwin, the Wizard of Thay. The first job for Edwin was to dispatch a mage called Rayic Gethras, but when Nymand sought the latter out, he had a change of heart. The fact that Rayic Gethras had more than a handful of pet Mephits and two huge Stone Golems suggested that the mage was probably too powerful for him to take on without better equipment.
At the Graveyard district Nymand entered one the tombs where he met Pai'Na, a Hive Mistress, and agreed to retrieve Spiders's Bane for her from its wielders in the Sewers. Hidden in shadows he snuck past Spiders and Beholders to complete this quest.
Nymand is currently level 14, with Find and Set Traps around 100 (thanks in part to items), with his average stealth around 120 (thanks again to items), and with 100 Detect Illusions. He was already proficient in Short Swords/Ninja-To and Shortbows, and has achieved *** in Two Weapon Fighting. If he reaches level 16, his next proficiency will probably be Clubs so that he can work with blunt weapons as well.
@Blackraven. Looks promising. I thought I read in this thread somewhere (Grond0 I think) that said that normal pick-pocketing is the activity that has minimum 1% chance of failure - if your score is high enough (every merchant is different), you can rob from most merchants at will without a chance of failure.

Thanks! I had never used the stealing/pickpocketing ability much, but I guess it's not for nothing that Thieves and Bards get this skill. They're very item-dependent (solo) classes, and I do feel Nymand will be better able now to cope with what awaits him.
Btw it'd be pretty funny if what you say is right re: stealing at no risk. I was pretty nervous, especially with the open area merchants (unsure whether the entire area would go hostile after a failed attempt at theft, or only the merchant).
Well if you mess it up sure, it would make the merchant hostile and the merchant would run around, making more people hostile. However, with a 240 stealing skill, I think you had your bases well covered.

Just be careful - if you don't have ToBex, pickpocket value can (theoretically) wrap around 250 and become 0.
Be joining you guys tomorrow for a new game...

Yes, I thought 255 was the limit. Anyway, good to see you back!

Unless a mod changes it you can indeed rob from a merchant's inventory risk-free (there is a risk pick-pocketing a merchant - such as attempting to get Ribald's ring of regeneration). From memory, Bernard is the most difficult merchant in the game to rob and requires 228 to ensure success - so 240 would allow you to steal from any merchant that allows that as an option.
Hi there, friends! Nice to see so much activities here and I'm glad to report that Impish Face woke up from his deep midwinter slumber once again and ready to proceed further. The events I'm going to tell you about aren't quite recent so the details are faded away already but I'll try to reproduce them following the set of their screenshots.
As you might remember we were intended to complete our both stronghold's questlines and try to advance Jaheira's quest as far as possible before sailing to Brynnlaw. That led to quite a lot of travels between the areas (I don't like to just *sleep-out* all the time we need to advance) and thus to a lot of ambushes. Our usual strategy there was a combo of Greater Command/Greater Malison/Chaos/Pixie Dust right away mixed with Cloudkill/Death Spell every now and then:
At some point, I relaxed slightly and hit one of those ambushes unprepared so that one was quite nervous but as it ran out Dermin finally appeared:
Jaheira left the Crew to spare the rest of us of further Harper's attacks but we were not going to let her face this all alone:
With her back in the Crew we completed the rest of stronghold's questlines,
bid farewell to Valygar (it's always hard to me to make this decision and hear his *Sigh* Are we through?...
You are great warrior, Valygar, and you just need to wait a little bit more for my next walkthrough when I'll run Gloomy (my gnomish Illusionist/Thief alter ego) or Ozzy (gnomish Illusionist/Cleric). I'll take you all the way to the end then, of that I swear!), picked up Yoshimo and finally set sail to Brynnlaw.
{Part 2}
Upon arrival we took care of welcoming Goth' party, helped Ginia and disposed off Galvena & her pet wizard.
Perth the Adept was left alone for now and we nearly convinced the Pirate King to send us into the Asylum when Yoshimo stepped forward and took care of that matter for us. There Impish Face sacrificed 1 point of INT, was stripped of his divine soul (I took this opportunity to change his avatar to hooded dwarven thief just for the look of it and as a sign of that dire loss) and we were thrown into the Maze where we finally united with Imoen.
The Maze itself was pretty straightforward with only one nasty surprise when Lich unexpectedly teleported right into our midst and fired his pre-buffs there (including ADHW which badly hurt a half of the Crew). Even aTweak-ed Pit Fiend with his Wish>Heal and fiendish gating (two Erinyes) was much more relaxing:
Level 2 of the Maze was easy enough as well and we just emerged into the surface and now pondering our options vs SCS' Improved Irenicus in Spellhold.
Here is a list of Randomized loot acquired in this session('s):
- Shadow Armor (Pirate King's house in Brynnlaw)
- Stiletto of Demarchess +2 (Spellhold, Mind Flayer behind painting)
- Club +2, Gnasher (Spellhold, Troll altar)
- Golden Girdle (Spellhold, drawer)
- Spear +3, Impaler (Spellhold, magical tome)
- Efreeti Bottle (Spellhold, item riddle)
- Cloak of Displacement (Spellhold, reward from genie)
- Dwarven Thrower +3 (Spellhold, face riddle)
- Wyvern's Tail +2 (Spellhold, troll behind painting)
- Gesen Bow Shaft (Limited Wish adventure, reward from Captain Dennis)
- Spear of Withering +4 (Spellhold, golem chest)
Current state:
Impish Face: Fighter (12) / Illusionist (13), 639 kills (Lea'liyl);
Jaheira: Fighter (12) / Druid (13), 169 kills (Bone Golem); 3 revival
Nalia: Swashbuckler (5) / Mage (15), 112 kills (Unseeing Eye);
Viconia: Cleric (18), 25 kills (Mogadish);
Mazzy: Fighter (16), 174 kills (Adamantite Golem); 1 revival
Imoen: Thief (7) / Mage (13), 4 kills (Goblin Commando)
to be continued...
Daranth the Cavalier, entering BG2 part
Himself and party (1st screens taken after clearing out Circus and CC slavers):
As so far, CCoronet was cleared succesfully
From there - Goverment - Umar Hills - get Ilbratha and shield from Ogre
Then, WK. Unfortunately, Farsight revealed Vampiric Wraiths, so this had to be postponed. We took what we could - Crimsone dart +3, Golem book, and some gold.
Next, cemetary. Crypt King with Item Revisions holds this baby - quite useful against thieves, despite being only +1.
We also took care of Suna ambush
Traveled to Docks, immidiately up to Temple which triggered 2nd ambush with wounded man, and are now to finish Harper's quest.
