Good to see Athkatla has suddenly become very congested - good luck to everyone.

Seconded.

Lovely 'stabs, Blackraven.

Daranth, 2nd BG2 update

In this session, we dealt with the fallen paladins, took the necklace for Shadow Thieves (writing this- I remembered I forgot to deliver the poor guy to Harpers....he's likely to be dead by now. :P ) and assaulted Mae'var.

There was a close instance of dying (even chunking due to backstab damage) when my Inquisitor(ess?) got confused and very badly hurt. Break Enchantment delivered just in time for a quick healing potion...

13_zps4f7ceb4d.jpg

Mae'var still managed to down my sorceress some time during the battle (having my Wizardslayer charmed helped him a lot through the stoneskins), and after Dispel was succesfull he fired off a Fireburst (aka Sunfire) in hope of dragging someone down with him.

14_zps6abe5f8e.jpg

Heavy damage, but we all survived. Alas, he didn't.

15_zpsa0a2f0f8.jpg

Now I had money. I decided that the first person who needs some decent equipment is my dps machine, archer. I bought these 2 for him:

16_zpsa5c3b86e.jpg

Aeger with IR lost it's most powerful protective feature (confusion immunity) but now has +1 strenght. This is not very useful for an archer per se, but it allows him to equip this - the most damaging bow in the game:

17_zps141a8332.jpg

+ 10 damage bonus!!

Well, let's try it out...

 25 damage hit with a non-enchanted arrow. I like.

18_zps55e149fc.jpg

We mop up the rest with ease, even the thief didn't evade us.

19_zpsff763947.jpg

Feeling powerful, it was time to revisit WK and deal with lack of enchanted arrows once and for all.

We plunge our way through wraiths with Piercing arrows found there.

20_zpsce001872.jpg

Had a nasty fight against statues there, a lot of potions used, but the way to level 2 was cleared. Traps were set off with great care (Pro Petrification, Death Ward, NPP - I only lacked Pro Lightning but nvm)

21_zpse1a6479d.jpg

Next session should conclude WK level 2 (apart Chromatic, he's a bit too powerful for now).

Compelling stuff so far Aasim, in spite of understandable difficulties with Mae'Var. Keep it up!
Item Revisions looks like fun.

Thrain - dwarf kensai (update 7)

Another quick session there for Thrain - and another close shave ...

In Spellhold Thrain fake-talked the demon to avoid losing any wisdom before moving into the maze.  He had a narrow escape fighting the lich when a symbol stun affected him (his saving throw of -3 should theoretically provide him with an automatic save, but I've had similar problems with that particular lich before).  Fortunately the lich spent quite a while casting other spells without much effect before summoning an efreeti and Thrain found himself able to move again almost as soon as the efreeti started meleeing him.  A couple of hammer GWWs then finished the efreeti and then the lich.

There were no further misadventures as he escaped from the asylum and took ship with Saemon.  In the City of Caverns he left most of the rebels untouched, but killed both king and prince (along with the priestess to get her cloak of mirroring).

Fight of the day - Irenicus in Spellhold
For a kensai with HLAs this fight is trivial.  Thrain convinced Lonk to open the cells and followed the occupants to confront Irenicus.  He immediately used a GWW with his hammer.  That did more than enough damage to finish Jon off (without him even managing to spawn clones), though he only realises that after Wanev's timestop.  Thrain left without waiting for the murderers to appear.

Daranth, 2nd BG2 update

WK level 2 was done succesfully. There was one single nasty moment when a bunch of Kuo-Toans succesfully confused everyone apart my cleric, who in turn removed confusion from Inquisitor, who continued de-confusing people.

22a_zps58c3cdb5.jpg

Still, I lost my sorceress, but she could be revived.

23_zpsfd5d72aa.jpg

The rest of the area was relatively easy, apart Ice Golem due to lack of decently enchanted weapons which could hurt him. Few extra potions used, but all was well. We set the scepter keys in place and ran out.

24_zps13dd8ff6.jpg

I payed of Galean Bayle 15k gold. Now, Trademeet. One nasty moment was when Adratha recognized that we had poison head of Flail of Ages (Questpack) - I tought he would recognize only FoA +3.. meh, we fight w/o proper buffs.

25_zpsbffb72f2.jpg

The Rakshasas there seem to be fairly low-leveled, since even if my Inquisitor was mazed, sorceress' Remove magic was fairly effective. No harm done.

26_zpsbe9e431b.jpg

All of druids outside the grove  were slain, and I let Cernd take care of Faldorn.

27_zps3f3d420a.jpg

Now my protagonist wanted to obtain a +3 weapon, since his +1 Albruin started loosing it's edge - meaning it was time to visit Nalia's keep. Very little trouble in the upper floors...

28_zps976554b3.jpg

Torgal was strangely bugged - he constantly refused to die, regardless of being hit by fire/acid damage. He would drop, regenerate back to full health in 3 rounds, and it's all over again....sigh. Thus, we focused Yuan-ti/Umber Hulks first.

With Inquisor/Wizardlsayer combo, such endeavors are fairly short-lasting.

29_zps46ec5963.jpg

Finally, after being mysteriously ressurected 3 times, Torgal dies to an Acid Arrow.

Flail is mine!

30_zpsb7c35d7f.jpg

Now, back to the city, to fight Temple Sewers party. Battle started by a Greater Command on my ranged characters, dropping everyone down apart Inquisitor.

31_zps192119fe.jpg

Time to put Lay on Hands to good use!

32_zpsb00f6f10.jpg

We fight through them, letting our WizardSlayer take care of Gaius' protections.

33_zpse292a18c.jpg

His Remove magic came way to late, since everyone was already dead apart a cleric.

34_zpsf731e06a.jpg

Sold a lot of stuff, and traveled to Umar Hills dungeon. Given my archer's THAC0 score, Thaxy is up for taking, despite us being fairly low-leveled.

Sorceress eats his Remove magic...

35_zpseb074b7b.jpg

Inquisitor tanks with her outstanding AC...

36_zpsac1d8d46.jpg

...while archer does the killing.

37_zpscb8c32f3.jpg

Shade was very easy, and died to ranged attacks a round after his PfMW got breached.

38_zps87b3e88d.jpg

Returned with good news to major, sold most of the stuff found in dungeon, and finally got around to finish Harper's quests.

Spectral harpist were slain.

39_zps64793533.jpg

Leaving the docks, we had a close call in a random ambush - sorceress barely surviving a Flamestrike.

Daranth, 4th BG2 update

Did the vampire lair. Surprisingly, Tanova didn't last long. A single disrupted spell

41_zps7f6f1755.jpg

and she was gone.

42_zps07b96827.jpg

Seeing how her vampires fare, Bodhi was quick to leave us to our plans.

Educational indeed...

43_zps6bc7693d.jpg

Now it was time to fulfill my duty as a paladin and clear out the Windspear hills. No trouble here, the dungeon is fairly easy (apart Rukh, but he died after an Inquisitor's Dispel), and soon bodies of our fallen enemies started piling up.

44_zpse1afe123.jpg

Conster - 9 seconds of life, 'till the first breaching strike from my Wizardslayer hit him.

45_zpsa29f4c88.jpg

We left the bigass dragon for another day. Archer is great and all, but I can not afford breath chunks yet.

Next we did our paladin duties, the ugly rotten thief didn't make it to kill the poor lass. Having an Inqisitor to cast TS here is very useful.

46_zps5af1f48a.jpg

Now we're sent to aquire Holy Avenger. Cool story bro, but not yet I'm afraid.

47_zps764e4f8e.jpg

Did some minor stuff around Alkathla, including the slavers ship. The cry for help from their mage is the best way to describe their futile efforts of trying to hit two mega-AC paladins holding the front line and an Archer laying waste to everything in sight.

They're beyond help.

48_zps5ae92d6b.jpg

For final round of the day, Valygar was killed and Planar Sphere opened. The first nasty battle here are halflings. Again, total demise at the start.

Greater Command puts by backliners to sleep.

49_zpscae7d620.jpg

Daranth returns to help and slays the cleric.

50_zps03d928de.jpg

Inquisitor soon got into a lot of hurt. A hit from Nishruu gets her feebleminded, and a Fireburst from a gated efreeti leaves her with only a trace of health. Cleric goes to Heal her.

51_zpscaf4a81b.jpg

We focus the dangerous summons first, their mage is too well protected.

52_zps1644efec.jpg

When his protections expired, arrows finish him.

53_zpsae0e1e8a.jpg

Another nasty fight followed - archer got hit by disintegrate, killing him. It doesn't ****** with Spell Revisions, so it's fine.

54_zps321aae48.jpg

Apperantly, both mages here were Conjurers - area soon got swarmed with a crapload of monsters.

Taibela was the first to taste my WizardSlayer's breaching strike, killing her swiftly.

55_zpsd20d7fbe.jpg

Without PfMW, Necre dies as well.

56_zps00521b74.jpg

Summoned fodder is disposed of quickly as well.

Convinietly, those were the hardest fights we had in Planar Sphere.

Lavok fell very quickly to non-enchanted arrows. I tought he'd be immune, but apperantly he isn't.

57_zps9a3a7d2e.jpg

Two demons on the Planes were killed, the 3rd one left alive, I was reluctant to risk Hold here.

58_zpsb50cd60a.jpg

Tolgerias was hilarious. He left a Simmy behind, and tried to run. Muahahahahah....

59_zpsabd9160b.jpg

We throw the demon heart into the machine, and are now back in Alkathla, pondering our next move.

Thrain - dwarf kensai (update 8)

In the Underdark greater deathblow and GWWs made a mess of the initial drow and fungi opposition.  Thrain then worked through the kuo-toa - taking a few on at a time for safety - before using hammer GWWs on the demon knights.  The balor also got hammered before Thrain moved on to the illithid.  Despite suffering promptings from my inner demon I played safe there.

Thrain was soon talking to Adalon and then entered the drow city and did a bit of shopping.  Leaving again he went invisibly to GWW N'ashtar before he could use maze and quickly beat up the others in the ambush with a couple more GWWs.  Phaere was then rescued with more of the same.

It didn't take long to finish off the rest of the drow tasks and watch Phaere give her impression of a Roman candle.  Thrain then returned to Adalon and gave her the eggs before departing the Underdark invisibly.

Fight of the day - Master Brain
Thrain buffed with hardiness and greater deathblow before entering the room.  A couple of hammer throws killed an umber hulk and an illithid and a GWW then finished off the remaining illithid and the Brain (it seems a bit odd that this brain can control a city, but is still no more than a level 12 creature and thus subject to greater deathblow).  The brain golems belatedly arrived, but one died in the remains of the GWW already active and the other one in a successor GWW.

Thrain - dwarf kensai (update 9)

Back in Athkatla Thrain gave Kruin the Silver Sword (the game crashes if I try and fight him).  He picked up some stored equipment and forged the Equalizer, Wave and Crom Faeyr.

Moving on to the Graveyard, none of the vampires or their associates lasted long against the combination of Daystar and the iMoD.  There was no need for summons, though Thrain did have to back off briefly from attacking Bodhi to allow her to make her closing speech before dying.

After reporting to Elhan, Thrain made his way round Suldanesselar fighting only where necessary.  That included Nizi, who killed Kitthix and the efreeti, but didn't quite have time to get into close combat with Thrain before sucking up one too many hammers to the gut.

After summoning the Avatar Thrain continued to the palace and opened up access to the Tree of Life.  After killing the parasites he quickly ran away from Jon while summoning Kitthix to trigger timestops.  After waiting briefly for Absolute Immunity to end he sent in Ras and then bombarded Jon with his hammer until he'd had enough.

In hell there were no errors this time with the trials as Thrain picked up immunity to +1 weapons, -2 to AC, +115 HPs, +20% elemental resistance and +2 strength before giving Jon one final hammering.

Fight of the day - Irenicus in hell
Thrain summoned Kitthix and the efreeti away from the eyes before cashing in the final tear.  As soon as Jon appeared Thrain ran away and 2 GWWs with his hammer were enough to kill the 4 demons.  The efreeti was unsummoned and Kitthix removed by a death spell as the slayer appeared at the bottom of the map - allowing Thrain to go and destroy the mislead at the top in peace.

Thrain then sent Ras down to the Slayer and damaged it with his hammer under cover of that attack.  He broke off when the Slayer's contingency PfMW activated (as that would outlast Ras) and waited a few rounds before digging the berserker horn out of his backpack.  However, the Slayer immediately used a ranged maze on the berserker (that possibility was the reason why Thrain was using summons to start with), so Thrain dug into his backpack again to find an air elemental.  That soon died to a FoD, but by that stage Thrain was doing significant damage to Irenicus, so rather than produce a further summon (he's got both the Staff of Fire and Staff of Earth, though hasn't used either yet) he just put on another hammer GWW to destroy the Slayer form and send Jon off on a final visit to the lake of fire.

Daranth, 5th update

Pondering about what to do - Planar Prison already cost me two No-Reloads, so this will wait. Unseeing Eye has beholders, it's a no-no yet. Firkraag is an option, but it may take a while to kill him (929 HP!), thus I'll wait a bit. Decided to assault Temple Sewers ilithid.

Having only limited castings of Chaotic Commands, Mind Flayer goes down first.

61_zpsd3a5e63f.jpg

Next, mage, and the battle is won.

62_zpsda8dcd29.jpg

The 2nd group is a bit more deadlier (I have both Questpack and SCS Mind Flayer improvements + Polytweak attacks). They Dimension Door to vulnerable people, use balistic attacks and similar crap. Doesn't help them much however.

63_zps82dd74c4.jpg

They did maze my inquisitor, stunned a few, but a success non the less.

64_zps7093d783.jpg

Alhoon is fairly dangerous, naturally. I send my protagonist (bad habit...) to take his Remove magic sequencer, and immidiately quaff a Clarity potion.

65_zpsc2343346.jpg

As Ulitharids/Flayers warp in, they're greeted by a multitude of arrows, and they die swiftly. No succesfull stuns, yey.

66_zps27caa251.jpg

Alhoon himself waited. He gated a Cornugon, dropped an ADHW on my archer, and died after his PfMW wore off. I had 55k gold after selling Wand of Wanders.

67_zps89246284.jpg

It was time to leave the city and set sail. Due to 19 Charisma, we got to looney bin without having to fight Perth (I gladly avoid this fight if I can). Party is currently inside, standing in front of Dace's quarters, having just finished the tome challenge.

Daranth, 6th (rather short) update

Daranth & crew are out of Spellhold. Two noticable things here happened:

1) We aquire this little piece of headgear. Probably the most powerful piece of such equipment in the game, this baby goes straight to (above) Daranth's head.

69_zps247499fc.jpg

2) We forgot to pick up part of Gesen bow. :( This means the splendid bow would never be forged. I didn't need anything from the coin machine, so I simply rushed through that minotaur door, completely forgetting that Gesen part is locked up near golems. Shame, since it strikes as +4 and needs no ammo. Meh.

Apart that, little to say - I don't have "Improved Irenicus in Spellhold" SCS component installed (I don't like it, since all I want at this point in the game is get out of there) and so the battle vs him was very easy.

Few rounds, he gave up.

70_zpsb0cee72e.jpg

Inquisitor fired her True Seeing and assassins (murderers!?) were also dealt with (murdered!?). We spoke to Simon, and are now to steal the horn and visit Sahaugin city.

Daranth, 7th BG2 update. Still kicking.

In Sahaugin city we had little to no trouble. Priestess was killed and her cloak aquired. It's quite a bit changed with Item Revisions, it no longer protects from spells but instead all attacks (this includes Magic Missile and Flame Arrow) have 50% chance to miss.

Kind of neat, but I'm rather thorn on who should equip this. For now, Wizard Slayer has the crap AC and he gets it, even if he usually attacks with his bow (he is getting very low on arrows however).

72_zps3f3b3f78.jpg

73_zpsac9d49c9.jpg

One close call was against the King (I kill them all, both him and the Prince.) I don't know if they had Critical strike HLA or something, but they hit my Cavalier on very low rolls, delivering huge damage.

74_zps6610483c.jpg

Quick retreat, heal up, and done. Prince wasn't nearly as hard-hitting.

75_zps8157da31.jpg

Underdark troubles

Well, things started bad, as they usually do. First Drow ambush is very difficult with SCS. For the first time in all game, my Inquisitor got held (KR Inquisitor isn't Hold immune). Sorceress got killed by a rampaging Drow Priestess.

76_zps5a544bc7.jpg

My priestess managed to cast Remove Paralysis to release the Inquisitor, and we finally kill her - not before she killed my priestess however. 2 down to a single priest! Fungus joined the fray as well.

77_zpse7ca88df.jpg

We mop the place up completely, with no further losses.

78_zpsf5ea8877.jpg

Now we kill the demon, parlor with the dragon, enter Ust Natha, visit the wonderful shops (quite revised - here one can buy Mirror Shield, Psion's Blade, Serpent Shaft etc.;)

79_zps2d212eb1.jpg

We buy mostly potions, and 2 items - Greenstone Amulet (archer gets it) and Mirror Shield - this is IR version of Balduran shield - it protects against any ray attack (beholder, vampire etc.). In addition, it looks awesome on avatars.

80_zps186eab5c.jpg

We accept the first mission to save Phaere. En route, detour to kill the gang awaiting us (no problems there)

81_zps54f78659.jpg

And then this - Phaere apperantly got confused. She hit Solaufein. This makes Sola hostile. This, in turn, makes drow city locked forever.

You can see a splash of blood on Sola here (I didn't take any other screens of the situation.)

I think this is a Polytweak bug (even Polytope warned me once about it.)

Be that as it may - we now have to kill Adalon. I was hoping to avoid it (exp is far better the long route) but whatever.

82_zpsabe84647.jpg

Prior to that, time to test up the Mirror Shield!

83_zpsca8447f5.jpg

It works!

It doesn't protect my archer!

84_zps628c852e.jpg

Notable loot here - Equilizer part, Crom Fayer scroll (useless for me, the hammer isn't nearly as good as it's reputation goes, even less so with Item Revisions), and Amulet of Spell Warding - my protagonist's amulet for the rest of the game (wherever that may be)

Aasim, did you do all this just today/yesterday? Or have you been saving up content for these forums? I'm very impressed with your apparent pace.
Anyway best of luck with Adalon. (I had a similar situation with my solo Wizard Slayer, but she solved it by entering the city, which was surprisingly empty, killing whomever crossed her and retrieving the eggs in the temple.)

Today. Kid & wife away, and since I work in kindergarten I'm still on holidays.

I'm afraid the door to city is locked. I don't think casting Knock will open it. :D  I will try however. Another point to note -  I have "Improved Ust Natha defences" from SCS - quote from Readme:

this component is not intended to make the conquest of the drow city somewhat more interesting and challenging: it is meant to make it virtually impossible.

Hence, I'm kind of reluctant to enter the city. I'm still curious if there's a way to get in. Maybe some invisibility tricks could work inside.

@Aasim, I'm quoting myself here:

Thani then went and had a chat with Adalon, after which she entered Ust Natha as a faux Drow. She bought the Earth Elemental staff for the summon. On her first mission with Phaere and Solaufein, everything went terribly awry after she had killed the Drow hating adventurers and reached the entrance to the Illithid city. All looked well as Thani was felling the Mind Flayers while Solafein was dealing with the Umber Hulks, but then Solaufein died! I've never had that happen before, and I must say I didn't even consider the possibility as I thought he wouldn't die because he was too important for the plot. Anyway, it had Phaere turn hostile on Thani, so the Dwarf in disguise saw no other option than to kill Phaere as well.

Thani went back to Ust Natha to see if people would still welcome her. It was either that or killing Adalon to make it out of the Underdark. The citizens were hostile, but thankfully not as overwhelmingly as after messing up the Ust Natha final quest. (I have the upgraded Ust Natha defenses component installed.) The city became something like a ghost town: the drow who are supposed to be outside, became hostile and were slain, but no other armed forces appeared and the buildings were either empty (fighter societies) or inaccessible (Qilue's home, the Aboleth was seemingly asleep). All the quests became unavailable. Thani did fight her way into the Temple of Lolth, past a Handmaiden of Lolth, a number of very strong berserking Matron's Guards, and Guardian Golems, toward Adalon's eggs.
Thani returned the eggs to Adalon, was escorted by her to the Underdark exit, battled many Drow, on her way to the surface, agreed to help the surface Elves and traveled back to Athkatla.

Note the words in bold. I'm not sure whether this was a bug, but no reinforcements appeared when Thani entered Ust Natha; she only had to deal with manageable groups of Drow that were already there. Ah as you can see this was playthrough was with the EE, and with SCS v28 (rather than v21 which I think you normally use).

BTW, I must repeat it: impressive work, in one day! Keep it up, and enjoy your holiday.

Well, this happened:

- I return to Adalon with bad news

- she doesn't go hostile (I expected her to be), but instead tells us to go away

- we go away to Drow City

- doors are locked

- Knock doesn't work

All in all - Adalon apperantly must die now.

I am using SCS28 + Mad Mate's fixes + my own IR/SR/SCS compatibility tweak. The problem with "Ust Natha defences" before was that if you chose to install them, it wouldn't work. If otoh you chose "do NOT improve Ust Natha" you'd get it.  :P

It's fixed now (most of the stuff is) so you can freely use SCSv28 + Fixes.

Daranth, 8th (very short) BG2 update

We killed Adalon. I  must say I never like to do that. :(

She dispelled my paladin duo, but against others her breath attack/Ice storms were futile.

87_zps52ab9213.jpg

It lasted a while. Few potions used, but nothing serious.

Bg2 run update 2S1.19,

Hear text as mp3,

Shadow boxing; by Sarah,

In our ever expanding search for allies against Bodhi, we recruited some shadow thieves… good bunch of guys really but I’m getting ahead of myself. The first step was a trek to the docks, visiting Edwin… he tried too join but doesn’t have the right temperament so we delivered the damming evidence without his help and allowed ourselves to be hired as the guilds exterminators.

Is it just me or does blood always manage to get into impossible places?

I’m now level 16 in mage craft and my kids presented me with a personalised dagger to mark the event… “Thanks heaps guys, Just make me a ‘Mislead’ scroll next”.

Thrain - dwarf kensai (10th and final update)

Memo to self - don't play when very tired ...

Ilasera failed to survive even a single hammer GWW and Thrain moved on to his first pocket plane challenge.  In theory that should have been easy and indeed it was as he took down various Knights of the Order using run and shoot with his hammer before GWWing Aran Linvail and Ellesime.  With only Duke Eltan and a couple of peasants left he summoned the efreeti to provide a distraction and threw his hammer at the duke.  I wasn't really concentrating on the results of that, but instead ensuring that Thrain kept away from the insect plague thrown out by Ellesime a bit earlier (although it wouldn't actually have been any real problem even if it did catch up to him).

Hence it was a nasty shock to wake up here to the fact that Thrain was nearly dead - I realised this was due to Eltan having physical mirror up, so that Thrain was being subjected to the type of hammering he had handed out to so many others.  What was worse was that, having identified the problem, I also realised that there were currently 3 hammers he had thrown at the Duke whirling between them - and he only had the HPs to survive being hit by one of them.

He took a potion of power to get a few extra HPs while continuing to run round to try and get a few more HPs from regeneration, but was hit by the first of the 3 hammers.  He took the level he'd got during the fight and then briefly seemed to be almost maintaining the gap on the 2 remaining hammers and probably had gained enough HPs from regeneration to survive one of those.  I considered trying to activate Ilbratha mirrors, but he wouldn't ever have had enough time to do that.  Then the hammers suddenly seemed to speed up and gained on him rapidly and here they are about to cut him in half.

It seemed in the fight like a lot of time had passed while being chased by the hammers but thinking about it now, I imagine that was in fact just a few seconds between pauses and the hammers started gaining when his GWW ran out.  If he had renewed the GWW then possibly he could have kept away from them somewhat longer and gained enough HPs from regeneration (doubled in speed by improved haste) to survive the hits.

I hope at least that his suicide will provide a few smiles for others ... :P
