Thanks guys but as it turns out I let the issue stand... when it come to it, reloading just fealt wrong so I'll fix her romance to do the mummy needs help quest she has and move on without the "my girl is pain in the neck" side-quest.

p.s. Bodhi didn't make it against my three helpers... I'll post it after work tomorrow.

Everybody stares at Blaggerd. It's a jailbreak so why won't he accept their help unless they use 2 handed weapons?

Minsc cave in first, reaching for the 2 handed sword but Blaggerd is closer and takes first dibs. Minsc picks out a halberd instead and pretends he knows how to use it. Jaheira is busy arguing until she realises Imoen has replaced a shiny dagger +1 with a quarterstaff. Blaggerd is already walking off with the others trying to catch up so Jaheira announces that spears can't be too difficult to master and sprints after them.

Diary of Duagloth Dyrr the drow paladin

I am finding the prioritisation of tasks increasingly more difficult.

First Nalia wanted help at her keep. We did a lot of useful work there, and after lowering the drawbridge, left the remainder of the work to the guard.

We had found a potion there which I used to increase my constitution somewhat.

We then returned to the Umar Hills and stopped the destruction of the woodland there.

We then returned to the keep only to find that the job has been only half finished. After being wounded, we went into the bailey to rest, whereupon a messenger came along with a request that we go to Trademeet and solve problems there.

Will I ever catch up with all the things that I have to do, I wonder?

EDIT

We solved the life of Mazzy's sister and left Mazzy with her whilst she recovered. There are obviously still things to do at Trademeet, but first we had to finish off the tasks at the keep and the Umar Hills.

We got rid of some orcs at Innesvale and then returned to Nalia's keep.

We cleared out some more trolls and then sent Tyris flare who was speeded up and had improved invisibility to fetch some items from some chests. Sadly she got chunked. We killed off the golems. Nalia acquired her armour and Krondor now has a wisdom of 20. He also has a strength inducing club, but as yet has no proficiency.

After the death of Tyris, I think that we need a time of rest and recuperation to recover spiritually as well as physically.

EDIT2

WE picked up Mazzy again and after resting we were asked to kill the Witch of Umar. It was surprisingly easy.

So was taking the rest of the keep! :)

We then went to the Temple area where a rather attractive paladin joined our party. We were asked to go to Innesvale where we defeated Khalabaxin. Not too difficult.

Bg2 run update 2S1.22,

Hear text as mp3,

Anticlimax; by Sarah,

I expected Bodhi to put up a bigger resistance… couldn’t she at least lock the front door?

2s-baldr129.jpg2s-baldr130.jpg

With my powerful three allies bashing away at them, the un-dead didn’t last long at all but I still have chores to do before visiting the elves so we trekked to Trademeet and helped a young lady whom was literally scared out of her skin.

I like the pictures and the written stuff, USS Norway. I'm afraid the computer generated voicing isn't great though. There are so many mispronunciations that it became laughable.

If you had written Trademeet as Trade-meet, it might have pronounced it correctly.

Done... all Trademeet should now be said as Trade-meet.

Thanks Wise.

I find text-aloud a nice program because it doesn't have to spell every thing as American... I agree that sometimes I don't spell check as well as I should but thats on me not the software.

That sounds a lot better.

:)

Doing that is probably not worth the effort though.

With these sorts of programs, at the moment they all sound a bit like a dalek with no emotion. Your feelings come across a lot better with your writing, which you do very well.

The program on the bus that I use nowadays is a bit more human as the phrase "Your next stop is at" has been programmed in as a phrase. It is only the name of the stop that sounds artificial.

I love the voicing in Baldur's Gate which is so obviously NOT computer generated, particularly that said by someone with a strong Liverpool accent.

I have often wondered if there is a different script reader for the USA audience, as they could well find a Liverpool accent difficult to understand.

Does the program use your voice, or is it one that you chose from the program?

We have recently been making a promotional video for a street angels project, and one of the comments was: "It sounds as if he is reading it."

Of course that is exactly what he was doing. However, it did the job and we aren't trying to sell anything, so we will use it as it is.

EDIT

Getting back to the topic.

Diary of Duagloth Dyrr the drow paladin

We had no problems at all dealing with the unseeing eye. I have gained a point in both intelligence and dexterity due to some potions that were dropped. Saerileth gained a point in charisma from another potion.

Just need to finish off now. I am expecting to lose either Nalia or Saerileth when we emerge. Hope that it's not both, and hopefully not permanently.

I have been well rewarded by the temple of lathander, but now they want me to find 200 pounds of illithium for an architect. Now that is hard, particularly when the ore merchant isn't talking.

Diary of Duagloth Dyrr the Drow Paladin

We continued by dealing with the unseeing eye and then trying to eliminate slavery.

Once that was done Nalia was kidnapped. I rescued her and then Saerileth was kidnapped by a devil.

I set off in pursuit of her, doing some shopping on the way. Shield of Hermes, Illithium and the like.

If it were possible, Ilmater would have been proud of me as I am most definitely poor.

EDIT

I was rather annoyed that I was beaten to the punch when the devil was killed.

Now back on Prime. :)

I use an old voice called Audrey 16, it is limited in wave size for phone systems (by design) and you can find it listed around the internet as English uk and English us… both are incorrect! The lady is Australian which is probably why it sounds fine to me and a little odd to your ears.

p.s.

I am thinking of making Puk a Gnome Pally for his next run so you are (sort-of) blasting a trek for me Wise.

Delilah - human cavalier (update 4)

Delilah quickly worked through the Windspear Hills dungeon.  The main problems there were:
- taking several minutes to find a secret door hiding some golems - she tried using a find traps spell on it without success during that time, so I presume the mechanics of that are different to the thief skill (which finds secret doors as well as traps).
- carelessly getting affected by chaos when fighting Samia.  Fortunately the deva's dispel magic restored her before she attacked it.

Against powerful summons, HLAs and a simmy, Firkraag stood little chance of surviving - and in fact he failed to last out an opening GWW assault.  It was only after he collapsed that I remembered that killing him at this stage means that Delilah will not be able to do the paladin stronghold quests - she'll just have to avoid becoming a fallen paladin!

Back in Athkatla she waded through the illithid hide-out without resting - finishing off the first 2 rooms mainly with deathblows and the final one running around using Azuredge (her intelligence of 10 leaves her rather vulnerable in melee against illithids despite her good AC).

Finally taking ship to Brynnlaw Delilah killed Perth with a GWW before he could buff.  After discarding the 2 page 'infinite' book of spells she moved into Spellhold.  The symbol spells of the lich were a potential danger there so she used summons to get rid of those and she kept the shield of harmony equipped to protect against chaos from the yuan-ti mages.  Those precautions meant everything went smoothly on the way to confront Irenicus.  A GWW with the FoA didn't quite finish him off and he managed to spawn a clone this time - but that caused only a minor delay before Jon was on his way.

Thanks for the reminder!

I will leave killing Firkraag as long as I can, particularly as I will be investigating a number of Mods that I have never done before.

Is it possible with a pally to leave it until after the underdark? I am currently romancing Saerileth so I am thinking that could be a possibility.

I would have thought so, yes.  If I hadn't already done Firkraag I might have been tempted this time to become evil in the Hell Trials and, if that resulted in Delilah falling, to try and regain her status by completing the stronghold quests.

Great progress Grond0 (congrats on Firkraag even if it means no Pally Stronghold), and Grimwald as well. Keep it up!

At that point (after the tree of life) you can't return to your stronghold.

I have just impoverished the party by upgrading Krondor's Hammer. However, after doing it he can no longer use it!

It is supposed to add 2 to dex, so would be quite useful.

Could this be because I have used two items to raise his wisdom, or is there a bug?

Anyone know?

Nobody in the party can now use it. :(

Sorry Wise, I don't know as it is a modded item? You could use Near Infinity to browse the item and should be reasonably easy to tell from there.

The Two Handed gang.

(Note, game transferred from PC to Nexus 7 before the start of this session)

Blaggerd and co managed to escape the dungeon, only for Imoen to be arrested along with Irenicus, so he was only saddled with Jaheira and Minsc. Almost immediately he ran into an old acquaintance called Dorn who had been handed an infernal task by his patron. With Bollard Firejaw duly smeared across the Radiant Heart floor the party exited without any further bloodshed.

Next, a strange idea that was bound to fail. Into the sewers and after picking up an appropriately named cloak the north-west passage led to Keldorn the Inquisitor. He was duly recruited but that led to a fallout where Dorn threatened to attack the party. Fortuitously (and perhaps bugged), a few enemies slightly to the east distracted everyone and after their demise Blaggerd found Dorn and Keldorn seemed to be oblivious to each other. Blaggerd is an opportunist and intends to see how long these two will behave.

Mekrath was too busy looking in his mirror to realise Blaggerd didn't care about a slave, and his protective buffs were soon dispelled by Keldorn. Jaheira lost her iron skins as a result but with Mekrath dead Haer'Dalis presented himself. Two short swords - good but not good enough so he was sent on his way. The party followed to pick up a reward from Raelis Shai, after doing so they found an intriguing battle ensued. The Planar Troupe were arrested and Blaggerd turned to go - only for a voice in his head suggesting that Haer'Dalis could probably learn to hold a two handed weapon. Shoving everybody else through the portal first was a sensible precaution... for such a low level party with minimal gear. Or maybe not.

Blaggerd. Blackguard 8.

Jaheira. Fighter 8 / Druid 10.

Minsc. Ranger 8.

Dorn. Blackguard 8.

Keldorn. Inquisitor 8.

Glad that chateau Irenicus is left behind Gate70. Love the opportunism btw. Afaik Dorn and Keldorn are not supposed to work together in a party.

Grimwald, did the 'Usable by' list change after you upgraded the hammer? If not, it would seem to be a bug. You might look up the item in NI as Gate70 mentioned, or even try to change it so that someone can use it.

Before it was modded EVERYONE could use it. After it was modded, NOBODY could use it. :(

Cost 10,000 gold pieces.

That's expensive. I was referring to the item description. Anyway, I would again recommend you to look for the item in Near Infinity, and change the 'Unusable by' flags. Surely it has to be usable by some classes/races.

Indeed.  Gate70 also gently enquired as to where my brains had gone - too many encounters with illithid over the years I think ;).

Gate70/Grond0 multiplayer attempt 66 - (3rd and final update)

Chanter, half-elf cleric / mage (Grond0) & Tuori, halfling shadowdancer (Gate70)

Some sloppy play led to the end of this run at the start of another dodgy day for us.

Things started well enough with the Graveyard being cleared - many of the enemies in the tombs being pinned against walls by Chanter's turn undead while Tuori finished them off.  Downstairs the first suggestion that this might not be a good day occurred when Chanter decided to take out Pai'Na with a cloudkill - that was effective against her, but also effective in reducing our reputation down to 4 by killing a number of people before they had a chance to spawn spiders.

After partially repairing reputation at a temple we decided to do the kidnappers to reduce it down again a bit before another bout of donations.  Chanter though got confused about which game he was playing and cast a mage spell outside just before the second kidnapper died - resulting in the appearance of some cowled wizards.  The duo quickly nipped into the kidnappers' house to take shelter, but were then faced with the problem of getting out again.

Tuori scouted outside briefly, prompting one of the mages to cast true sight as a result - while waiting that out he robbed the interior.  He then poked his head outside again and saw another mage begin to cast true sight.  He nipped back inside and, when the text didn't show true sight as being cast, assumed that the mage had aborted the spell.  Chanter then came outside under sanctuary, only to find himself immediately being targeted.  That was doubly unfair (true sight being cast without notification and true sight abolishing sanctuary), but he reacted quickly and dived back inside.  Just one cowled wizard appeared to follow and Chanter tried to disrupt his spell with a wand scorcher, but the mage managed to finish his spell and stun Tuori anyway.  When the mage tried to cast again Chanter once more used a scorcher, only to be rather dismayed when another cowlie suddenly appeared more than a round after the first one arrived.  Chanter tried running round to get that mage in the path of the scorcher, but failed to inflict any damage - looking at the screenshot and the bent scorcher I suspect that lag effects meant that Chanter and/or the mage were not actually where they appeared to be in the picture.  The failure to disrupt that spell proved costly as Chanter suddenly expired - probably from a FoD.

Hey Grond0/Gate70, at first I had to do my best not to laugh about the unlicensed spell casting in Athkatla, but having read the whole of it, I really didn't like the Mages targeting a Sanctuaried character. Are you guys playing with a particular mod? I sometimes have enemies following a Sanctuaried character in my modded BGT installs, but have never had them take aggressive actions. Sorry about your run. I liked it.
