I'm not sure I understand. You cannot get XP in dungeon?

I packed the fix for you however (it should  work... I think). Download my mod from here. Install the last component (you'll know it when you see it :D ). Let me know if it fixed it and if it works properly now.

Wow! A SR/IR player! (not in his succesfull run, but a SR player non the less!).  Nice read anyway.

I didn't get the bonus XP upon leaving. I do now. :)

The component works fine. :) Perhaps I should have asked you to fix ALL my dodgy innate spells whilst I was about it! :D

Whilst trying to find where the problems were in SK I found no fewer than 15 in the Innate Section alone. :(

No, I am not asking you to fix them, I haven't come across them in the game and the game will probably work fine with those minor bugs anyway. It did with the Vampire Slayer bug. It just looked bad. That one is one that I used to come across repeatedly, so I am glad that you fixed it. :)

What does SR/IR mean. I for one don't know the TLAs used in BG, or the FLAs either.

I must admit that I like this magery-heavy party.

I understand.

I've always found small to medium sized arcane parties powerful and enjoyable. My first trilogy no reload was completed with one. That was one my most enjoyable play-throughs. My intention with Aphril, Adara, and Aerie was to replicate that run on insane. It's been fun so far, although not quite as magical as the first time.

I'm glad you decided to run a similar party in a Revisions world. It's been a fun read.

Keep up the good work!

Best,

A.

Tnx for explanation  - I'm not native English speaker .

Go Aasim Go! Be careful though.. ;)

Cheers!

I'll be. I have limited time to play this game however - in two days I got to leave and go back to my wife & kid. Now I'm locked in my room and balduring, the idea is to finish what's left in no more than two days... :)

Nashlee, 11th BG2 update

We finished Underdark by returning the eggs to Adalon. Special thanks to Corey for informing me that Aboleth can be reasoned with. I can't believe I let this fish bully me all these years!

169_zpsxbzawzjs.jpg

Apart from the drow near exit (described in previous post), we had no trouble. I also dealt with the two beholders (but no more than two, that Hive Mother freaks me out)

170_zps7dknu0o5.jpg

Ilithids- no problem. Nashlee lost a bit of hp due to their ballistic attacks, but nothing potions couldn't fix. I didn't even use summons here.

171_zpsqlaldfh0.jpg

And aquired some more powerful HLAs. Like DB, for example. -6 to save...

173_zpsszwsivs6.jpg

Currently, Nashlee is in Alkathla, just bought a Chain Contingency scroll for Galia to use. We should fight Bodhi in next session.

levels - Nashlee- 13/13/13

Galia - 20

Lastzee - 20

Actually only TLA for three letter acronym is used widely. I went to a conference this year when someone complained about the number of TLAs that were being used without explanation, to which somebody asked what is a TLA? It showed us all very clearly the problem of using acronyms. :D

Aphril, Elven Sorcerer: Bodhi (or Yeah, You Better Run...But Then Again, So Should We)

Aphril, Adara, and Aerie continue their deliberate, safety obsessed, insane march through Amn. They have defeated Bodhi, and are now contemplating their next move.

The plan was simple: let the Avariel Tank of Doom throw down with Bodhi, while Adara and Aphril pop off Sunfires, running Pro Undead. That worked. Save or Else defenses included Chaotic Commands and Resist Fear; energy defenses, Pro Cold, Pro Fire, and Pro Magic Energy. ProMW protected Aerie for the first 4 rounds. AC buffs included Spirit Armor, Pro Evil, Blur, Improved Invisibility, and a Potion of Absorption. A Potion of Fortitude mitigated Con drain risk. A Fireshield was used for style points, but also to provide visual and audio feedback on each Bodhi hit.

Equipped with a Phantom Blade, Aerie did excellent damage. Thanks to her divine spells, she landed consistently.

Spoiler

Bodhi was smart enough not to attack ProMW/Fireshielded Aerie. She tried a Touch of Death...

Screen%20Shot%202015-07-12%20at%203.39.3

but thanks to Aerie buffs, that didn't have the desired effect. It temporarily added 10HP to Aerie's already well buffed HP max. Can I subtract 10HP from Aerie's 30HP cumulative damage total?

Spoiler

More Sunfires while Aerie continues her assault.

Spoiler

I was deeply concerned when Bodhi readied a kick just as the unsettling whoosh of an expired ProMW echoed through the Crypts. Fortunately, Bodhi whiffed on her one free shot.

Spoiler

Run Aerie! Run! We'll take it from here!

Screen%20Shot%202015-07-12%20at%203.43.1

What's next? I don't know. Imoen lies in one direction, but the L6s we'll need to safety dispatch Irenicus lie in another. We'll see.

Best,

A.

Aerie the Avariel Tank of Doom, L11/12 C/M: Kills- 168; XP Value- 36%; Most Powerful Vanquished- Shade Lord; Favorite Spell- Holy Smite; Favorite Weapon- +1 Halberd; Cumulative Damage Taken- ~30HP

Adara the Soon to Be Eclipsed, L13 Sorcerer: Kills- 160; XP Value- 33%; Most Powerful Vanquished- Crypt King; Favorite Spell- Invisibility; Favorite Weapon- Melf's Minute Meteors; Cumulative Damage Taken- 0HP

Aphril the Soon to Be Deadly, L13 Sorcerer: Kills- 165; XP Value- 29%; Most Powerful Vanquished: Umber Hulk Elder; Favorite Spell- Invisibility; Favorite Weapon- Melf's Minute Meteors; Cumulative Damage Taken- 0HP

NW: My posts highlight Aerie's contributions, but, as you can see, the kill percentages are very well balanced. At this stage the spreads are narrowing. That will change later in the adventure: Aphril will become a force to be reckoned with.

Got it. Never heard of it myself- additionally, I was thinking in wrong direction - I tought you quoted something and I couldn't get what.

Nashlee, 12th BG2 update

I see one Bodhi battle is done succesfully, time for my own Bodhilicius report. :D

First, top floor trash. SCS aperrantly does  use Maze vs Player1. Nashlee was happy to take one bastard down while at it.

174_zpsllu9au9d.jpg

Nashlee found out the hard way that IR's Greenstone doesn't keep one safe from Mesmerize ability. Freedom gets rid of it, however (only on SR game, so don't count on it to work in vanilla).

175_zps0rs1slto.jpg

Final blow on Tanova. Very annoying oponnent.

176_zpsf8jrwj2t.jpg

I was planning not to rebuff and to preserve my HLAs, but I spent Dragon's Breath and Comet both, hence I had to rest & rebuff (Nashlee got dispelled as well in the battle).

Anyhow, I prebuff fully. Lastzee has a trigger 3xLower Resistance, other sequencers are filled with Skull traps and Lighting Bolts (mistake, Bodhi is lighting immune). Planetar is gated as well. No Demons - they're not level drain immune, so are worthless.

177_zps98cobgpb.jpg

Let's get it on!

Casters weed out the trash with ADHWs quickly. Bodhi summons her verylongandcomplicatedname pair of mages.

178_zps4f6d4dqd.jpg

Nashlee has but two level 6 mage spells. Both devoted to PfMW. Unfortunately, she foils one since Bodhi infests her with bugs (or bats). I *hate* double standards. Why doesn't Fireshield blok it, just like it does insects?

That's it for Nashlee. Until the effect wears off, she's useless.

179_zpsl4lyzsd1.jpg

I retreat her back and let Lastzee do the tanking. She doesn't know PfMW yet, but does Apsolute Immunity (this spell is mega-buffed in SR. It confers absoulte immunity to pretty much everything).

We give Bodhi a taste of fire and drop her MR.

180_zpsomoquzdi.jpg

181_zpsvxhasbxz.jpg

Skull traps did little damage, Delayed Blast Fireballs did good. I should have used Fireballs in sequencers instead. Flame Arrow would be great, my on my install Invoker can't cast Conjurations, so that's out of the equation. I whish my sorceress knew Flame Arrow instead of Melfs, but it's late for wishful thinking now.

182_zpsctg7fvt5.jpg

After some time, bugs on Nashlee expire. Charge!

183_zpsj4idb637.jpg

It takes just one hit to make Bodhi give her first speech.

184_zpspqdqdmp5.jpg

It's not done, however. PfMW expires, Bodhi starts drinking blood. Which  makes me wonder. Just WHAT can a non-arcane caster do here? Run around in circles and pray she can't lay a hit?

She can kill anything, even a 25 CON fighter in 2 rounds. I don't know if Pro Undead works vs her in non-IR game, but still...she's arguably the single deadliest oponnent in the game for non-arcanes. Not cool.

185_zps8fbed00y.jpg

I open my one PfMW scroll, there are no more in the game; apart two in ToB. :( I cannot risk getting Nashlee's CON to 8, which is one hit away. It does outlast her, and she succumbs to FoA + MoD blows. Lastzee & Galia have nearly expened their spellbooks. Vampire mages dissapeared with Bodhi's death.

186_zpsknionypq.jpg

Bleh. I'll take some liberty in tweaking Bodhi a bit when next I play this game. I don't like to rely on PfMW as the sole option to stay alive in melee.

Be that as it may, with Bodhi's death,  Lich hunting season is starting in Alkathla.

Nashlee's run has become a thriller.

Btw. Which version of Bodhi are you using: Full Tactics, or Toned Down Tactics?

Btw II. David has commented on the Fireshield/Cloud of Bats issue. His response was, basically: the animation is the same, but they're bats, not insects. You shouldn't expect something that stops insects to stop bats. And I see his point. I wouldn't expect, like, lemon eucalyptus spray to keep bats away from me.

Nonetheless, I find Bodhi's version of Cloud of Bats problematic. Other vamps have a version which is schooled to Conjuration and set to L3. Casters can stop them. Bodhi's version is school-less and set to L0. It's unstoppable and devastating. That's a problem (although, interestingly, she didn't target Aerie, who was running II).

When I went into SK to find out what  affects there were, and which file was needed for the vampire slayer spell, I discovered 15 other spells which had long strings of text instead of proper spell descriptions. I don't know where they come from either. However, as I have never come across those spells in a game, I am not too concerned about them. I think of that sort of problem as an inevitable result of having a lot of mods installed. As I said. I am not asking for you to do anything. If I come across them in the future, I may investigate further, but having installed a number of mods that are new to me, I have a LOT of investigating to do. Those spells could belong to enemies and in that case I would never know if the descriptions were a bit buggy.

At least one of them is from rttki, Bg2Fixpack, Crusader pack, BoM Item Pack, but some I couldn't find at all. No problem.

Full Tactics Bodhi. I did disable one thing via ini file; unlike my previous setups - Clay Golem "Cursed Wound" since I had a plan of going with 4 fighters which have very little do do against that. (Cursed Wound is kind of bugged since it's not removable in temples unless you wear another cursed item).

There's a pretty decent number of things ( fire included) which stop and should burn both bats & insects.

I don't know if it's possible to cheese her out to waste casting that crap on a summon - if not, that's a major bummer. Maybe taking one NPC (say Korgan or similar) and let him eat it....

Got it. If you do find any and it bugs you, you can do it yourself - it's rather simple. (I made it overly complicated with Stake) :P

Messed up strings usually occur if you copy-paste  files w/o Weidu installer; number of mods doesn't really matter.

As for bats, one thing occured to me. Fireshield/Mesthil feedback would trigger constantly if Nashlee stood near Bodhi, possibly killing her.

The problem was I could only cast PfMW from scroll, and I don't know if Bodhi would die twice in 4 rounds PfMW duration...

Good stuff Alesia and Aasim. You're both doing great! A pleasure to read.

Dagny, Gnome Cleric/Illusionist (take 3), 1st BG2 report

Dagny is in Athkatla, at the Five Flagons to be precise. She's alive and well, even though she's already had her share of drama during her first days in Amn.

She had no Thief to deal with locks and traps in Irenicus' dungeon level 1 as Imoen still had to complete her dualing process in spite of reaching mage lvl 9 upon joining with Dagny (possibly a mod feature). But the two ladies, with all their lvl 2 slots filled with Invisibilities, had a plan. Jaheira and Minsc didn't initially figure in it.
The girls went Invisible and visited Rielev's room. There Imoen temporarily left Invisibility to pick up the activation stone. Dagny momentarily left Invisibility to give said stone to the guardian golem in a nearby room. No foes were fought although a couple of Duergar had to be invited into the Otyugh room so as to clear the path to the gardens and to the Mistress's Room where Dagny's MGoI and Stoneskins allowed her to secure the portal key without suffering any harm.

The ladies traveled to the 2nd level and welcomed Yoshimo into the party. Dagny summoned five Skeletons and protected them as well as her companions and herself from Evil. They cleared the Mephit room without difficulty.

Spoiler
With the Skellies by their side, the trio ventured confidently forth, killing an Escaped Clone, Duergar, Mephits and Assassins that stood in their way. Other Duergar fell to the many traps in the large room with the throne. All was not well because Yoshimo got ire Charmed twice in a row by a Duergar Mage, but the Duergar didn't attack the thief and Yoshimo himself was too far removed from Dagny and Imoen to seek trouble with the girls. With backstabs he finished the few Duergar that had shunned or survived the traps, and Frennedan as well. Dagny's Skeletons helped Yoshimo with the assassins near the exit. The rogue needed a couple of healing potions to stay healthy. The level was duly looted before the companions returned to the portal, where they rested.

Then they returned to the 1st level, invisibly. Dagny had to leave Invisibility and cast a decoy summons to once more clear the corridor towar the Otyugh room. This didn't work out as planned, as Yoshimo made it to the other side whereas Dagny and Imoen remained stuck in the Master's room.

Spoiler
Thankfully Yoshimo knew what he had to do. He finished the Otyugh with backstabs and he recruited Minsc. (Jaheira wouldn't leave her cell unless encouraged to by Dagny.) Minsc endured and destroyed the Clay Golems,
Spoiler
and the Duergar that had been such an obstacle. Jaheira joined and the five cleared the 1st level and the plane of air without much difficulty.

They moved on to the second level, where Imoen killed Ulvaryl with a Cloudkill, and from there, to the surface.

Minsc, Jaheira and Yoshimo were tanked for their help, and Dagny continued alone (although the idea was not to be alone for long). Dagny rested, identified items and sold what she had no use for. As in her previous incarnation, Dagny foolishly cast a spell (Stoneskin) under the open sky of Athkatla, and received her first warning from the cowled ones.
She entered the Circus Tent, slew two faux commoners, and released Aerie from her spell. She invited the Elf (whom I turned into a Sorcerer) to accompany her and look for their mutual friend Quayle and for evil Kalah. This led them here:

Spoiler
Pretty scary, I never expected this. Turned out to be a part of the BG1 NPCs in SoA mod. Visually an appealing place, but it was ful of red circled creatures: Frost Ogres, Ice and Frost Trolls, a Basilisk, Frost Salamanders, Ettins, and Ice Giants as well as weaker foes like Goblins and Ice Mephits. Some of these creatures I must say, seemed to first appear only after a few rests.

There was no way back. A Pleasure Slave required Dagny and Aerie to find three keys in order to proceed and meet Kalah.

Spoiler

The only good thing was, that resting was easy (no interruptions). Dagny's Skeletons, Aerie's Skull Traps, and MMMs took out some of the foes, but as I said after a number of rests there seemed to be more foes. One of those foes, an Ice Giant, found Dagny and Aerie coming its way after messing with a named enemy, a lvl 13 Conjurer Orc with True Sight amongst its spells, named Goozclown (which Blackraven took as a sign that it might own one of the keys). A single attack by the Ice Giant dealt 39 dmg, leaving Aerie with a single HP.

Spoiler
Both Dagny and Aerie returned to where they had been fighting the Orc mage, and Aerie managed to go (improved) invisible just as she got affected by a Chaos.
Spoiler
Since Dagny had also gone invisible, and there was no one in sight for Aerie, all seemed well. But the Ice Giant must have smelled the Elf, as he blindly dropped another ice storm on Aerie, dealing 42 dmg and killing her permanently. (Dagny barely escaped it AoE).
Spoiler

Dagny felt horrible. It was the first time since Gorion that someone died permanently in her company.

She slew the Orc mage after she managed to Silence it,

Spoiler
and indeed found the first of the three keys she needed.

Het next target was a Death Rabbit with 21 STR, 100+ HPs, Saving Throws of 1 (except save vs breath of 2), 127 Cold/Fire/Magic Resistance and 50 Magic Fire, Magic Cold and Acid and Elctricity Resistance. With a base AC of 4 and no physical resistances, brute force seemed to be the way to go. Her Skeletons, MMMs, and Holy Power proved her right.

Spoiler
After spending a loooong time looking for the third and last key carrier, she found it on a Slime called 'The Thing', on the left area border on a plateau she (or at least I) had thought inaccessible. Again MMMs and Skeletons did the job.
Spoiler
With the three keys, Dagny returned to the Pleasure Slave and was allowed to go and meet Kalah.
Spoiler

While we appreciate the modder's effort in creating extra quests and battles, Dagny and I reserve the right to ctrl-y enemies added by the mod in battles we're not interested in. (I can't be bothered with the alternative: uninstalling the mod and risking irregularities in my setup and having to do a new install.)
I installed the BG1 NPCs in SoA mod purely for the NPCs, but so far I've achieved the opposite of what I had in mind. I permanently lost an NPC that I had wanted on Dagny's team, and after Kalah was Spooked and Melfed, Quayle whom I expected to be willing to join, had no more to say than this:

Spoiler

Anyway a doleful Dagny had a rendezvous with Gaelan Bayle, and visited the Gov District to speak with Madeen and Tolgerias, and to donate most of her gold to the corrupt cowls for a spell casting license. She also dealt with the slavers in the Copper Coronet.

Spoiler
This time one of the guards called two mages (and two archers) to back him, but Dagny was pretty well-buffed, Stoneskin, MI, MGoI, Ghost Armor, MSD, and HP. Hasted with a summoned Dire Wolf she finished the wizards.
Spoiler

She then visited the Bridge District to catch the Skinner Murderers. At the Tanner's she had to fight a Doppelganger (seemingly related to Xzar's quest), which she did with her Skeletons.

Spoiler
One of the Rune Assassins followed Dagny upstairs. She tried to fight him for a while, but got bored and left him for later.

Muggers and Dominated Shadow Thieves plied their trade on the wrong Gnome, and Dagny reported back to Lt Aegisfield. She's currently lvl 9/10 with circa 515k XP, 4000 GP and no special items other than Sarevok's Ring, the Helm of Balduran and the Claw of Kazgaroth she had found in Chateau Irenicus.

While I'm kind of adjusting to solo mode again, inadvertently as the above proves, I intend to stick to the original plan: to form a caster-heavy crew. Jan, Nalia and Haer'Dalis are currently on the shortlist. I don't like Edwin, so he's less likely to join. Dagny met Xan in the Gov District, but his voice had completely changed and much as she had always disliked Xan's moaning voice, she realized she wouldn't have him any other way.

BG1SOANPCS! I played this mod before. It can be rather difficult if you don't have arcane spells in that cursed tent (basilisk..grr...).

Shar-Teel dialogues are hilarious - most of the mod is; especially around Trademeet! Enjoy...I love that mod. :)

Of course.

His point was that they're different spells, with different game world mechanics. There is no reason why they have to behave the same in relation to defensive spells. That's reasonable.

Please do - you won't be sorry if you like her brutal comments (make sure she's in party when you talk to that ghost in Graveyard (little bear) and you'll see what I mean :D ).

I could never get Kagain to join for some reason, only his shop was available, but others were fairly well written.

Nashlee's final update. Briefly.

Killed Shade Lich with no trouble. Elemental Lich killed Nashlee with Finger of Death. He had 7(!) ADHWs, and used a cheesy Wish for "remove protections". Apperantly, this ignores Spell Shield and anything else  .

With Dark Planetar on our tail, we couldn't refresh the buffs but had to keep PfMW on (Lich used TS to wear PfMWs out, unintentionally I guess).

RiP Nashlee.

Condolences on the loss or Aerie, Blackraven.

I had been looking forward to seeing Dagny and sorcerer Aerie in action.

Best,

A.

Thank you. So had I. I've never played much with Sorcerers so much could have been learned, and Aerie was such a sweetheart.

No! That's dire news Aasim. Didn't see that one coming.
Very noble of you to keep on fighting, I would have retreated my character after his protections were removed (unless both the protection removal and the FoD happened during TS and there was no window for escape). My condolences friend.

What's the strategy to deal with Wish -> remove protections? I had a fight with the imprisoned lich in the underdark where he cast that, and the fight went from "speedbump" to "I literally have no idea how to kill this guy without risking permadeath". Fortunately the underdark has a lot of room to maneuver, and I eventually cheesed HIM to death with summons, PfUD and waiting out his PfMW casts.

I had thought spell shield DID protect against it, but if not that's eye opening and implies that any time someone casts wish there is a ~20% chance the party is in deep, deep trouble.
