Aphril, Elven Sorcerer: Pocket Plane Challenge #1
Ok. I know the vanilla players have zero interest in this since PPC #1 is trivial in vanilla, but I thought I'd quickly post for the SCS players.
The buffs for this fight were the party standards with minor adjustments including, notably, Pro Undead Scrolls for Bodhi. Also note the hit Contingencies: they were a significant part of the defensive strategy. They were intended to hedge against the risk that we might time our buffs incorrectly.

As mentioned, the plan was to let summons dispatch the fodder while we waited, invisible/SI:D, for the arrival of the drow, at which time we would buff for Jonicus and Bodhi.
Here we see the Deva going to work on the Kobold Commandos while the party eats popcorn. Someday, I'd like to play without the XP cap in BG1. And on that day, I'd like to farm re-spawning gibberlings until I reach HLA territory. Have you ever rolled into the Nashkel Mines with a Deva or Planetar? I'd like to. I would...(Hmm, no...)
At this point, the drow had arrived. After about one round, we passed out the Pro Undead scrolls and started layering in our short duration buffs.
Bodhi's here! Just in time! Aerie just took her last buff.
Ok. So now here comes Jonicus, right down Jonicus lane. Aphril fires up Improved Alacrity.
Let's see those buffs. Assuming he has specific protections here, he has a magic number of 5. Not bad John. That's respectable. But we have 13 Ruby Rays, 6 Spell Thrusts, 15 Breaches and 4 spell equivalent actions per round- not to mention Improved Alacrity and Vecna. You're totally out gunned.
Sarevok? Sarevok? Are you kidding? Adara, take him out.
Ah, but Jonicus wouldn't go quite so quietly this time. He wears the AoP and Vecna in this fight. He got off a Time Stop.
Unfortunately, he didn't accomplish much here. The v30 script prioritizes debuffing over all else, it seems. It'll try to debuff, then it will bring the demons. But our magic numbers are too high. We can't be debuffed, and so those actions are very nearly wasted. The old script used to summon demons first. And against Aphril that would be the right play. Jon should say: frack it, I'm screwed. I'll never take down their buffs. And I'll never survive their Abjuration assault. But maybe -just maybe- I can give them a little grief with demons and a Planetar. That's what Jon used to do in my old install. I'll note, once again, that I'm very tempted to revert for future runs. Given my playing style -given that I buff to the nines- I'll get better arcane system behavior in a pre 21 setup and all I'll really lose is Con Drain and Cursed Wounds. And does anyone really like Con Drain and Cursed Wounds?
Anyhoo. Time resumes. Aphril fires up Improved Alacrity again. Four Ruby Rays and then some acid stuff while Imoen's Breach is en route to take down the Protection from Magic Energy and Fire Shield: Red. Note also the LR x3 Trigger on its way to Bodhi. She needs a little love now that the Skull Traps and Wiltings are coming soon.

Here we can see another reason why I'm worried about Impish Face. Jonicus gets a Staff of the Magi in this fight. In my install, the invisibility while equipped has been removed, both for the player and PP1 Jonicus. In Serg's, install it has not been removed. It's un-fun to deal with Staff cheese.
Having been stripped, pumped full of Acid Arrows, and brought to Badly Injured, Jonicus caught a Power Word: Blind from Adara. Just cause.
Aphril finishes him with Sunfires.

And, finally, the Pro Undead stumped Bodhi.
Fin!

Easy, huh? For Aphril, maybe. But make not mistake: that fight can be very, very dangerous. Stay strong Impish Face! Take'em down! Keep your team safe!
Best,
A.
