Thank you. I'm actually utilizing everything from short-term memory. Now that I've found out the weaknesses and the strengths of the revamped Blade, I'm choosing more wisely now. Before, I spent a lot of gold on equipment. Now, I'd rather scribe scrolls as they're much, much better than any armor or weapon at this point in the game.
How are you? Running anything as of the moment?

Not really. As recently as yesterday, I was semi-motivated to redo Alesia's Trilogy run with the right ending, but I started getting a semi-intense and un-fun feeling of deja-vu. She's halfway through BG1 now. I'm not really excited about finishing though.
I can't think of a character that interests me at the moment. I may end up taking a break for awhile.
I'll be around though.
Best,
A.

I know the feeling. That's why I quit the narration and the pictures and just went for the videos. I just want to finish this one so badly to the point where it was before that I'm actually rushing through the encounters. I want to commend myself for actually just breezing through enemies but until there's something new (post-Chapter 2 is what I mean, of course), I won't be having as much fun as I did before.

I'm trying out my hand at kit-making, and I don't know if you like custom kits at all, but this one is kind of a fun kit, if I ever get to finish it in the next two months. Just as an example: it's got an HLA that roots you in place, sets your Magic and Magic Damage Resistance to 0, and allows you an infinite spellbook for 10 seconds. Sounds nice in theory, but amazingly hard to pull off properly.
If you do get around to running again and I get to finish it, do hit me back. I need some opinion (and, yes, casting Prot. from Magic Energy immediately cancels the 0 MDR so I put an immunity to that, haha).
Quite honestly, I think I want to see you play with a party. Seems like you've played solo for so long, you're actually jaded about the game. C'mon, play a party! WOOOOOO!

As a recap:
Monty vs TorGal
Monty vs The Cult of the Unseeing Eye
Monty vs The Unseeing Eye Himself
Anyway, does anyone know how I can record a voiceover for my videos? I'm looking for something that won't overwrite or silence the audio of the videos. I just want my voice to be sort of overlapping over the original sounds. Some WoW (or MMORPG/online) players do this a lot and I want to know how.
If anyone can point me in the right direction, I would be immensely thankful.
As for the game, I will start running after I eat lunch. I'm hungry and I haven't slept since midnight. Hooray for understanding fiances! They leave home wishing you luck for the game and leaves you food in the microwave.

After selling the junk, my first order of business after taking care of the circus problem was to get Jan. I kicked out Yoshimo. My idea is to be a 4 man group as much as possible, although we will let Jaheira hang out with us for a short while so we can do a couple of her quests.
In any case, been hoarding bunch of scrolls we got. I had Jan memorize all the scrolls he could after gulping 2 potions of genius. After all his scribing Zallon finally made it to level 9! He duals to cleric. What's really strange is I did NOT level at all in Chateau Irenicus! Think it had to do with quite a few failed scribes that Imoen attempted.
In trying to get some levels, the party picked all the locks/detrapped everything they could at Linvail's place and Maevar's guild. While I was at Linvail's I saw the Ice Storm spell and decided Jan would get it. With Jan's web, Jaheira entangel and Zallon's horror (bhaal power) and Jan's THREE fireballs (thinking of putting of them in a sequencer when I can) and two ice storms figured we shoud be able to crush Mencar Pebblecrusher and his gang. I was right.
I also got Nalia - I realized in time that Edwin and Minsc don't get along that great. This makes it easier in a way, don't have to worry about reputation getting too high. I kept Jaheira for the time being, mainly to find Montaron and free her from the curse, then will drop her to stay a 4 man team.
I then got a scary ambush. If I had glitterdust and/or horror memorized this would have been trivial, but don't have those spells yet (plus Jan can't use any necromancy spells like horror). Jan mirror imaged, Minsc charged Jaheria unfortunately had already used her call lightning in a previous ambush. Fortunately, because Zallon is NE he has the Bhaal horror power - and most of the enemies failed their save! A little beat up, but none the worse for wear.
We finally got to D'Arnise Keep and starting helping Nalia with her task. While we were fighting in her keep, she had the gall to say how are we helping the unfortunate trudging around in here! The nerve of that woman! We ignored her though and this tactic seems to work well. Had a battle with Glaicas, low spells, but luckily Zallon's hold person worked on first cast.
Our damage dealing still isn't that great yet, with Zallon not having his *** two weapon skill and still is trudging along with 1 APR without his berserker levels. Our battle with Torgal was VERY resource intensive (read: tons of extra healing potions used), but finally that tough bastard fell.
So we are out of the keep. We will try to find Montaron next, meet Jaheira's nemesis and say goodbye after curing her.

Congratulations on TorGal. Tough guy, that one is. And we deal with Mencar the same, although in my game, I use ADHW on sequencers and triggers as he's way tougher with SCSII installed. Heh.
Dualling at 9 and having a 4-man party means that your abilities will return as early as Ch. 3, if not completely by end of Ch. 2 because of the stronghold quests. Will be looking forward to your Berserker/Cleric's run.

Thanks for the congratulations. I'm sure my abilities will return while in chapter 2. I am already berserker 9/cleric 8. Dont forget too that a pure cleric levels faster than many other classes.
Hopefully I will have an "interesting" run and not a "short" run in BG 2.
EDIT: I saw your Torgal video - interesting. But you said in your post you were level 27! Can he possibly be any match at all at that level? Heck, if my berker/cleric were a level 27 cleric, I'd be kicking some Torgal behind easily myself!

That might be a long video. She's immune to +3 or lower. Or will CF's on hit go through that?

The SCSII-Tactics Remix of TorGal is a legitimate solo killer. He has a massive damage roll, and is unbelievably tough. Add his natural regeneration and maximum HP (he's way beyond 100HP here) *and* a strength-draining blow and he becomes murderous.
Also, his battlegroup is also upgraded. He gets 6 trolls, of which 2 are Spirit Trolls (the improved kind with invisibility, ability drain, and spellcasting), and he also gets 2 yuan-ti mages plus an Umber Hulk Elder which also hits like a truck. Still, all the trolls easily fall to a Death Spell so the only real problem is the Umber Hulk Elder and the yuan-ti mages.
On any other day, it would have been easy, but given the blade's jack-in-the-box tendencies, he can't possibly go toe to toe with all of them. Besides, the yuan-ti cast Breach like there's no tomorrow, and that's scary because all that stops TorGal are Stoneskin and PfMW. If both are Breached, heck, I'll die in less than three rounds.

On-hit effects don't trigger if you're protected from them via combat protection spells. However, the same apparently doesn't hold for enchantments. Point in hand: a Clay Golem can be killed by Blackrazor if you keep at it long enough. Even if the weapon is ineffective, the level drain goes through. This thought is sketchy at most, though. Other players might shed more light about this.

The distinction here is between enchantment immunity and damage resistance.
An enemy immune to +3 weapons could not be level drained to death with Blackrazor- the weapon would be completely ineffective. An enemy with 100% Slashing Resistance (ex- Clay Golem) could- the Slashing Damage would be foiled but the Level Drain could still take effect.
If you wanted to try stunning Mel with Celestial Fury, you could with Weimer's Item Upgrades installed- that allows you to forge a Celestial Fury +5.
Best,
A.
Btw. Just adding to what SoS said about Torgal. Many considered the original Tactics Torgal to be the toughest melee foe in SoA- even with an upgraded Firkragg around. The SCS Tactics Remix version is no joke.

There we go! Silly me, Alesia has actually answered this before, when I asked her if protection grants an invisibile resistance to weapons. Apparently, they are still different. Anyway, thanks again for clarifying that, Alesia.

The thing that made Tactics so hard was that TorGal was heavily edited CRE-file wise. I think I am with SCSII when they say that there's no need to upgrade CRE files too much, all that is needed is some really good scripting. Granted, TorGal has so many minions by his side, it's funny, but the rationale is the same. TorGal is technically a Troll Mound Leader, which means he's got to be surrounded at all times.
Quite honestly, though, SCSII-Tactics Remix TorGal might be a bit easier, but the scripting for his minions are so darn good, I think it could give the Tactics Improved TorGal a run for its money if the latter didn't have so much killer stats and abilities.

Yeah. I'd rather deal with the SCS scripts then Tactics Torgal's abilities.
I was just trying to convey that the SCS Tactics Remix fight might not be trivial for a soloist.

Of course this might jinx me but no one has yet died in the party. Lot of miscellaneous stuff taken care of. Minsc is using the frostfire and stonefire axe dual-wielding - he easly does 50% or more of the party damage by himself. Will be a bit different once Zallon gets his berserker abilities back, but that hasn't happened yet.
Taking no chances, party did massive buffs before entering Prebek's abode. This turned out to be a bit overkill as Prebek and friends were dominated.
This allowed us to borrow a few things from the harpers, though it did get Xzar killed by a harper assassin. We then helped Jaheira after she got cursed. This entailed fighting Ployer and his friends. We did lots of buffs again, and the battle was won. And after she got cured we took anything important from her and told her goodbye. She tried to protest, but really didn't think we had much going.
The party freed Hendak after taking down a beastmaster. No screenshots as for this party that was very easy. Next was the Lilacor quest. Pretty easy there too. Nice surprise when we finished the quest though - Zallon is level 9! Just need ONE more level but wowee need 450,000 experience. Even with a 4 man party that's going be a bit.
We next did the Maevar quest. As always the key part of the quest (and a part that has ended one of runs before) is confronting Gethras. At Rayic's house, I gave Minsc every buff I could to defend him, death ward, fire resistance (Minsc fire resistance at that moment was > 100 so he will actually be healed if Rayic tries to fireball him), chaotic commands, protection from lightning, he had a STR buff active as well. Minsc went upstairs by himself, aggroed Rayic and went berserk - this was effective.
Next update party will battle Maevar's thieves. We don't have true sight yet, so will be touch and go. Only risk really is Jan but will make sure he's properly buffed first.

So, I utilized a loop that allows Monty to level up using his gold. It's not really a cheat, but more of a cycle of sorts. It gives you a nice ratio of 6xp per gold piece, and even more if you want to take the slow way. Anyway, Monty is now in the Planar Sphere, as he still doesn't have a foolproof plan on how to take down the Shadow Dragon without the Amulet of Power. Anyway, first major fight in the Sphere is the Halfling Party. SCSII delivers a powerful upgrade, what with a Planetar joining the fray.
Monty vs Planar Sphere Halfling Party
Notes:
- Tackled at Lvl35.
- Main hand Scarlet Ninja-to, offhand Belm (for a sweet 4APR)
- HLA: UAI, 5 Sound Burst, 2 Whirlwind, Scribe Scroll, Alchemy, Magic Flute
- Metagame knowledge: the group goes by two, two, and three. The last three at the back are the spellcasters, and thereby the most dangerous.
- We go kill the melee fighters first. No need to use insane buffs. Fireshield, Mirror Image, Stoneskin, Imp. Haste are enough.
- We accidentally lure one of the middle two, which actually works to our favor. He falls alone.
- Stupid me, using a very expensive Mass Invisibility scroll (not that it matters, heh) to go invi and go for the spellcasters. We successfully pass through the "speech" guy and headed for the mage. He, however, instantly brings in a Planetar.
- Everything boils down to buffing, debuffing, attacking the Planetar, buffing, healing, et al. Lots of mistakes with the mage, as we didn't see him erect Spell Shield which eats our initial Breach, and we wasted our True Sight when he uses another invisibility.
- Armor actually is a Robe of Vecna, but because its color scheme sucked like hell, I changed it into Chains of Vecna. There's no difference besides looking like a chainmail and being changed to black. I hardly believe Vecna using the a robe that sports neon green.
- Halfling party was easy, but was too lazy to actually utilize anything mindblowing for this fight. We just needed the Gauntlets of Ogre Strength so badly for Monty, who will use it until the GoES is gotten.

Gauntlets of Extraordinary Specialization. It's quite probably the best gauntlets in the game for fighter types, which the blade is more of (rather than a bard or mage). Anyway, video is up.
Good luck to everyone else's runs (it seems that without Saros, and Alesia, only Corey and I are here, sad)!

A quick run of the first half of the Sphere. Nothing like good old buffing. Golems weren't much of a problem, second halfling party just needs interruption as there are two mages here and both can summon Planetars, if I remember correctly. Anyway, Elder Orb was a bit testy but I wanted to get the XP so I was a bit jumpy about that one.
As for Lavok, well, it's more of a magic attack battle. Spell Turning was the best spell to have here, and it was a bit of luck that I survived a really power ADHW contingency because I forgot to buff up with ProMagEnergy. Anyway, enjoy the following really short videos.
Monty will do the demon heart quest later, as I'm not mentally fit to actually guide the little guy through the place. It's kind of a tough encounter, what with aTweaks' Improved Fiends installed (demons have a level drain capability, which is my biggest fear until now).
Good luck to everyone else!

Didn't you used to post in the old "campfire" threads?
BG doesn't have to be "chess", you know. It's also a most delightful role-playing game, simulator (closest we've got in currect tech to a holodeck), and self-examination psych test.

I'm not sure what happened to Saros. He does tend to disappear sometimes though. He'll likely be back.
I'm currently running a solo Priest of Lathander in the BG1 thread. She's in the Cloakwood now.

Are you referring to the "You Are Trapped in Faerun Challenge?". I guess I'm just little to honest for that. If I were trapped in Faerun, I most certainly would have been killed by Shank. Returning Phyldia's book would have been my most heroic accomplishment. Not much to write about I'm afraid....

Thanks. My Priest, Alena, should make it here. Slythe is the only potential problem (He can be nasty for soloists with SCS installed and Alena has had some bad hitpoint rolls.) It's rainy where I am today so she'll probably finish up one way or another by the end of the day.
