Could have been. Might also have been power word: kill. If she was hit by the other rakshasa at the same time she would have been somewhere around the 60 HP mark.

I'm pretty sure none of the raks can cast 9th level spells, even with SCS, maybe sphere of chaos? That's a nasty spell, as it's AoE and ignores most spell protections.

Wild mages are fun, but they'd be my last choice for a no-reload.

The undead encounter does indeed vary depending on levels - perhaps it just averages the total levels of all party members and I see a multi-class and a dual-class in your group so that probably brought the levels down.

Just a minor nitpick, random spawns vary with total XP rather than level, and are always checked against the protagonists XP... Which can be annoying if you're recently dual-classed and run into a lich.

Corey the level 10 inquisitor and his fellow 5 paladins - small but IMPORTANT update

The party finally arrives in the government district. We found a drow who appeared to be unjustly accussed so freed her. She's not a paladin, so sent her on her way. Also found a odd gnome named Jan, and we get him out of his jam. Sent him on this way as well. And the real reason we are here, we talked to Dalon and went to Immesvale to try to help his village.

In the village, we obtained mephit blood for a mage - his stone golem turned on him so we had to kill it. We got the ilbratha sword for our troubles so that helped. We also brought a message of the local ogres to the mayor, they will protect the village and trade. Eventually we got to the ranger's cabin and found out where Mazzy and her group went from there.

The undead on the surface of the Umar Temple area were no problem. Somewhat suprisingly, neither were the mass of undead that we had to batle inside, even though the ranged people often couldn't hurt the undead (ammo wasn't magical).

The shadow dragon was another matter. I really thought with 2 inquistors and two undead hunters immune to hsi level drain attack we would do better. The party in general had a really tough time fighting him (either that or the dispel magics weren't successful). In any case the battle raged for a long time, used lots of heal potions, RoR heals. In fact the tanks died several times, died just before they could get a heal, so had to re-equp mid-battle (though without their armor). Long story short, Paja got in trouble, and was chunked. Losing our loremaster is bad, but the biggest problem with her death is no one can cast green scrolls! The party did eventually kill Thaxxssyllyia.

In our rage for Paja's death, we took vengance on the shade lord. We found a magical halberd here, a small upgrade for Hanna. We reported our success to the Mayor of Immesvale and he was qutie pleased. After selling our cash is 22,000 gold. We left Immesvale and went to Watcher's keep to buy a potion bag. Went to Copper Coronet and bought a light crossbow of speed for Uriah.

We then go the temple area and recruit Keldorn to replace Paja. He has a tiny amount of lore, but can cast green scrolls. We feel honor bound to help him with his quest. Least we can do for keeping him waiting in the sewers for so long...We swapped out his sword (his sword looks cool on paper, but what I don't like is when he gets poisoned, the sword will damage HIMSELF.) with the sword of chaos. Gave him Uriah's old +1 light crossbow.

We then go deeper into the sewers, finding mostly undead, which are no problem. We find some former servants of the Unseeing Eye, and will try to get one of the pieces of the rod next.

Could have been, or finger of death or disintegrate ... choices, choices.

The wild mage seemed a viable proposition to me as a solo (there are no really nasty surge results for a solo character if you've got more than 30 in as additions to your roll, though there are for your party), but I think it requires quite a lot of patience to get the spells set up in the right order and I tend to find spell use a bit tedious anyway.  I also only once used Nahal's Reckless Dweomer in the game, but it would have been possible, even by the stage I was at, to have bought Vecna and started chucking multiple 9th level spells around each round.  Maybe I'll give that another try some day.

Enjoy your next run Grond0.

Vemric, LG human male monk. Travelling with Keldorn, Jaheira, Nalia, Imoen and Minsc.

The drow city. Lasaonar takes a beating at my hands, then Chalinthra falls to Carsomyr. Imoen faces a mage next, using a rabid dog to win. Nalia takes the last two bouts using skeleton warriors, a djinn and a Mordy.

Keldorn deals with an umber hulk and a nabassu. Minsc takes a sahuagin prince and a beholder. I have a nap upstairs with a patron cheaper than 275gp for a room and find Solaufein. Our first task is to ambush a group of flayers.

We are ambushed first, but kill our attackers then deal with the flayers and their guardian umber hulks. With Phaere rescued I deal with Qilue, have another cheap rest oh no I'm getting addicted then obtain my next task.

An eye tyrant, looks more like a beholder to me but either way it is soon dead. Next, scare the Swirf. I convince Solaufein to wait for me, then make a deal by taking just a helmet. Same with Solaufein and his cloak, and Phaere provides another free rest.

The matron mother wants an elder orb eye, master brain blood or royal Kuo Toan blood. I have the first two but pretend I have none. Instead I locate Visaj and enter Deirex's tower. Death by cutscene here, not seen that happen before but funny watching Deirex crawl away and Vemric kicking and punching.
Posted Image

After looting the tower Taso Kela wants me to deal with some oozes. Done. I free the human slaves and return to the matron mother. Phaere and Salaufein both have fake eggs for us, so Imoen uses the Staff of the Magi to switch them over. Not once;
Posted Image

But twice;
Posted Image

I am done with the drow city, so I release the djinn and promise to pay compensation within one day. Keep waiting Overseer Handmaiden. As Montaron isn't around to cook the dragon eggs I'm free to return them to Adalon no option to ask for any of her blood, suspect I should have sounded out Darcin Cole first and taken the human skin along too. Oh well.

We back-track from the exit. First the lizard prince is de-buffed and killed then a group of demon knights. Minsc and I have been drained either forgotten that or not noticed before so Jaheira uses two restoration scrolls. Keldorn takes the girdle of frost giant strength he was a killer with STR of 19 so will be fun with 21. We could explore further but I decide we should leave and do so after a brief battle or two.

Elhan tries to interrogate me. We reach Small Teeth pass, and rest. Jaheira has returned to the Harpers when we wake so we follow her. As we reach the docks we are attacked by muggers and Kruin the githyanki. Once they are dead we stop off to talk to Cromwell while he forges the Silver Sword. Then we retrieve Jaheira and kill a few "harpers".

Back to Small Teeth pass. Nothing there, so on to North Forest where Minsc is stunned during a time stop and killed. Jaheira raises him again. We return to the city so Cromwell can forge some ankheg plate, and retrieve our stored goods so he can forge the Equaliser and the short bow of Gesen.

Time to pick up Daystar.
Posted Image

Double trouble. Keldorn dispels protections with his first hit afterwards and Minsc follows up with an iMoD killer blow forgot to screenshot immediately, this is roughly where they were.
Posted Image

A forest is next, then a return to the graveyard district where Bodhi has arranged a welcome. I use Daystar to clear the area, but get drained so use another scroll to remove it. I get drained again inside the vampire lair, good job I bought nine of the scrolls. Minsc takes charge to kill Bodhi again I forgot to screenshot and we return to the surface.

We are called back to the de'Arnise hold. As we arrive Dermin waylays us so we kill him. I must defend the hold within the next week so sort out Littleman the bear for a dead child then investigate the remaining crypts.

Imoen suggests we investigate a guarded compound next. We stand our ground, letting missiles, spells and summons loose.
Posted Image

Still no word from the hold. Into the sewers then, and using skeleton warriors with Mordyswords to defeat Alhoon and flayers. Mekrath and his mirror yield Haer'Dalis and a portal gem while I choose my first HLA, whirlwind attack.

Terminsel hands Jaheira a new harper pin. Off to the planar prison.
Posted Image

We start to clear some yuan-ti to the east, only for Keldorn to step in the wrong place boots of speed don't help but Keldorn and Minsc are level 16, I am level 20 so no real danger. So now we have two battles going on at the same time. When our battle is over Minsc and I join Keldorn and make it even more one sided.
Posted Image

My quivering palm attack is saved but I can hit hard and often.
Posted Image

Rest; Nalia can identify Kundane, then fight behind a pillar - the cheap seats.
Posted Image

Time to stomp some wolfweres.
Posted Image

I remove three efreeti's gulp two healing potions then watch as Minsc and Keldorn carve up the warden.
Posted Image

We are victorious, although Minsc gets confused and nearly kills Jaheira. Keldorn, Minsc and I take care of the final cell pocket, mages and golems, then I use the wardstone more xp and talk to Tagget a bit more.

Haer'Dalis returns us to the Five Flagons inn, where we rest before our next adventure going to have to dump somebody to get Valygar to open the planar sphere, unless it is time to hold onto my hold.

Vemric, monk level 20. Unseeing Eye. 686 kills 172 of these from BG1.
Minsc, ranger 16. Bodhi. 411 kills.
Keldorn, inquisitor 17. Shade Lich, 327 kills.
Jaheira, fighter 13 druid 13. 171 kills, Perth the adept.
Nalia, mage 17 thief 4. 104 kills, Firkraag.
Imoen, mage 16 thief 7. 23 kills, drow.

@Gate70: are you going to continue to ToB if you make it that far?

If I can yes. TOB is my least favourite part so could die very quickly. Wouldn't do all of Watchers Keep and can't imagine beating the two dragons (invisible and blue, hate them so much their names have gone...)

Vemric, LG human male monk. Travelling with Keldorn, Jaheira, Nalia, Imoen and Minsc.

First stop Cromwell, Wave halberd. Next, Renal Bloodscalp and Aran Linvail, thanks but no rewards. Mencar Pebblecrusher is rude, now he is dead. The Mithrest inn, as Keldorn heads towards it I tell him I am barred and we must not enter. He nods.

Still no sign of being needed at the hold so we head to the Copper Coronet temple, dodge Habib and sanctify Yoshimo's heart. I am given a few of his belongings in return, the diary being a most interesting read.

Umar Hills and the Zhentarim book missed this earlier, assume it it too late now. Anyway, to the underdark entrance and into the Kuo-Toa lair. We clear the area and taint the remaining pool before heading back towards the underdark.

We go from the duergar encampment improved haste scroll please to the svirf camp nothing worth grabbing, and then to Adalon. All this way and her lair is empty, so instead we take our frustration out on Ust Natha.

Cromwell forges an improved cloak of protection +2, then I marry off one of the hold maids with a sizable dowry. Imoen has a rest at the Copper Coronet while Valygar helps unlock the planar sphere. I boot him out to make room for Imoen, and we enter the sphere bit wary about this but hopefully more experienced than when I usually try.

Halflings, golems and a beholder are little trouble for us, other than Minsc being mazed for a while. The navigator turns out to be Lavok.
Posted Image

Tolgerias and his buddy both get a taste of Carsomyr dispel on hit.
Posted Image

We make short work of a fire chamber before moving to the engine room. Imoen and Jaheira kill two Adamantite golems with their bows Gesen and Tansharon then Minsc blocks while we melee clay and stone golems. Simples.

We exit through a frost room and make our way to the sphere exit. I am blocked by my hasted companions and don't even get to the demon before Keldorn and Minsc have landed four hasted hits and killed it.
Posted Image

This is getting annoying, they do the same to a second one.
Posted Image

Keldorn re-applies protection from evil and true sight. This time I almost keep up with them but Keldorn still gets two hits while I don't get to aim.
Posted Image

Better sort these knights out.
Posted Image

I'm bored now. After telling some moneylenders to clear off Jaheira gets her first two HLA's, summon deva and energy blades we camp outside the hold until there is a flood, then again until Isaea Roenall arrives.

Keep my keep. Keep your hands off my keep. My palm is Quivering.
Posted Image

Minsc is about to learn tracking until I remind him Boo is too smart to go missing. Instead I help him choose hardiness.

Keldorn (THACO -6, 2.5APR) and Minsc (-4/-1 and 3.5APR) are tearing through everything, will be interesting if they get to greater whirlwind attacks. Vemric has THACO -10 and 4APR but boots & oil of speed is notching them past him.

Vemric, monk level 21. Unseeing Eye. 735 kills 172 of these from BG1.
Minsc, ranger 18. Bodhi. 458 kills.
Keldorn, inquisitor 17. Shade Lich, 389 kills.
Jaheira, fighter 14 druid 14. 189 kills, Perth the adept.
Nalia, mage 17 thief 4. 107 kills, Firkraag.
Imoen, mage 17 thief 7. 25 kills, Adamantite golem.

My next entry on the conveyor belt is Tumble - a dwarf berserker hurriedly graduated from BG1.  He had no trouble going through the dungeon - in fact he's the first solo character I've had for a while who was successful in killing the vampire there.  On exit he's just restored the circus to normal operation and bought himself some speedy shoes and ring of air control from Ribald.  Here are his stats at level 9 (constitution affected by Claw of Kazgoroth and HPs by helm of Balduran) - he has grand mastery in axes and one point each in longbow and 2-weapon fighting..

Corey the level 11 inquisitor and fellow FOUR paladis - MEGA disaster in Firkraag's lair

So the party goes to Windspear Hills to rid Lord Firkraag of his ogre menace then it turns out it was a trap, and we ended up killing beasts who were really paladins.

Garren Windspear cleared our name and we went to rescue his child. The group performed very well here. We even beat Samia taking minimal damage though the party did get confused. Fortunately, they couldn't hurt each other much and no enemies for the confused members to walk into.

Firkraag was a completely different matter. Firkraag killed everyone but Corey and Corey was badly wounded so he had to flee. Joshua got chunked. Resurrection wand poofed. Out of heals and heal potions.

Since there is no temple nearby, the equipment will poof by the time we return. We were able to recover the gem bags and potion bag and keys and the Flail of Ages. Didn't get many screenshots, but here's a screenie of Corey fleeing while invisible and its aftermath. But everything else (except Corey's equipment) was lost. Here's a tally of equipment lost:

* numerous +1 rings, amulets, etc.
* 4 full plates
* Keldorn's personal armor
* Dragon Halberd
* Martial Staff
* Frost Axe
* Stonefire
* Azuredge
* light crossbow of speed
* Heavy crossbow of accuracy
* +2 axe that returns when thrown
* Shield of Harmony
* Shield of Balduran
* Shield of Grace
* spear of the unicorn
* 3 charm protection helmets
* boots of grounding
* ring of fire resistance
* dragon helm
* sword of roses
* cloak of the sewers
* ring of human influence
* girdle of bluntness
* girdle of piercing
* girdle of giant strength (19 STR)

What's sad is when the party returned to try to recover what survived the passage of time, the respawning orcs/hobgoblins were actually a threat and did lots of damage thanks to our sub-par armor and weapons. When we returned to Athkatla, we had Cromwell make armor from Ankheg and shadow dragon, as the were actually upgrades for our front-liners. Most of the party now only has +2 weaons.

It was very tempting to let Firkgraag just kill me and end my run, but my self-discipline perservered and I fled. I've never lost so much equipment in a no-reload before.

Ouch! You got hit by the ultimate BG nightmare. I wonder if any of the unique stuff will show up again in various black market stores or even at the Adventurers Mart. I think Azuredge is generic rather than unique, but loosing Balduran's shield takes some of the fun out of the game. But even Firkraag has to sleep sometime and his orc buddies may have swiped some of the goodies and passed them into the black market network. I wonder if you may eventually find some extras on Firk's corpse.

Even by your standards that is quick!

Corey, condolences and be interesting to see if you can recover. I've had Firkraag destroy me plenty before no-reloads and he's ended at least two of my runs. Could you have stashed some loot in the store where Tazok and Digdag were and returned for another armful? I'm guessing keeping invisible is the issue?

I try to leave him until later, but the dilemma is that sword is a must-have. Particularly for your group.

Anyway, Vemric, LG human male monk. Travelling with Keldorn, Jaheira, Nalia, Imoen and Minsc.

I'm done with Cromwell prefer the two belts to Crom Faeyr. On to Watchers Keep. We enter the main door with negative plane protection, true sight, haste and a diva. A room to the right is also cleared before the buffs expire then Minsc and Keldorn remove a spellhaunt.

A group of trolls force Keldorn to gulp two extra healing potions. He takes his bracers of dexterity back from Minsc after the battle. We clear the level, rest outside and return to light the fire. I suggest the twelve statues outside look like guardians, so we keep an eye on them while retrieving a ritual and dismantling two golems.

We buff carefully, them Minsc takes a book and all sorts of fun starts.
Posted Image

Four of the statues have come alive so we kill them and head outside to rest. Then we return, grab the candle and complete the ritual. This is more like it.
Posted Image

I try greater whirlwind and take down two enemies while a deva drops the huge golem.
Posted Image

Keldorn learns how to do a whirlwind attack, I follow with a whirlwind attack and the battle is over until we see an archer statue, which lasts about two seconds once we reach it. More priceless loot, now for level 2 of the keep.

I

I did have invisibility potions, but would become visible when looting. It's all moot though because Firkraag sees through invisibility (as we noticed when we returned to pick up what stuff that did not disappear). I had no health and no potions, sticking around to "stash loot' would have ended the run. Running was the only option, as bad as it was.

How about sanctuary - can Firkraag attack through that?  Also I don't think it breaks invisibility to pick things up from the ground when you're standing over them, i.e. initially right-click to move onto a stack of goods, rather than left-click to pick them up directly.

Interesting idea if vanilla, cavalier or undead hunter. Might keep one memorised in future just in case.

Vemric, LG human male monk. Travelling with Keldorn, Jaheira, Nalia, Imoen and Minsc.

Odren has watched over us again while we rest, and we descend into the second level of Watchers Keep. A chromatic demon changes before our eyes, from shape to shape. There is no roof to the cage and the gaps are large so I suspect it to be more than a mere physical cage.
Posted Image

I open a door and peek inside from the shadows while Imoen stands behind searching for traps, retreating when we see two fire giants. Minsc casts armor of faith then hardiness before we draw out them out. Keldorn whirlwinds the first while we gang up on the second. Jaheira buffs Keldorn and Minsc from electricity and the two of them defeat a group of air elementals.

We peek into the next room, an iron golem so we rest and Minsc re-buffs. A stone and two hasted clay golems are next then Imoen clears the room of traps. We skip to a spider room where Imoen chooses summon planetar as an ability, then a horror room. So we have cleared the joins, just three corners left.
Posted Image

Nalia opens the door from the lightning chamber to the golem room. Imoen opens the door from the slime chamber to the spider room under improved invisibility. When she returns Minsc opens the other slime chamber door and we attack. Minsc and I are immune to poison while Keldorn can attack from behind us, so we clear the room and obtain a poison flail head. The item randomiser doesn't appear to be working but as I expected it to I also allowed Cromwell and Cespenar to forge each others items. Something to try and sort out next time.

Cromwell forges the FoA +4 and some blessed bracers. I decline upgrades to an arrow quiver, bolt quiver, and to Crom Faeyr. He shrugs and I return to Watchers Keep.

Jaheira opens the remaining slime chamber door as Minsc opens the frost chamber door. We kill the golem and mist, then shut the slime door. Keldorn leads three greater fire elementals to the ice chamber then Minsc buffs to face the fire giant.Once that is done we review our spells and prepare for the chromatic demon. Mega-buffs maybe overkill but have struggled here before although contingencies of haste and greater malison haven't triggered.
Posted Image

Imoen contingency of EDIT:haste finally triggers, and I tell simmy-Nalia to lower resistance as I execute a greater whirlwind.
Posted Image

Nalia contingencies EDIT:malison then the mages fire their spell sequencers. The demon is doomed and has magic resistance lowered by 79% but five sequenced Melfs do no damage. I forgot this demon has massive damage resistance.

Minsc, Keldorn, the Planetar and myself are hitting for 1-2 damage here's my clue so I start to think we are in trouble. The Planetar is badly wounded but our hits mount up and just as we think we are going to win the Planetar squeezes in a final cut. I'm not sure if I want to descend any further going to check what items there are and if I can exit easily.

Tumble's survived one evening in Athkatla.  Progress to date:
- freed Copper Coronet
- cleared slaver HQ.  Taking out the thieves in the sewers on the way got Tumble to level 10
- rescued Renfeld
- completed Xzar's quest
- rid De'Arnise keep of the troll menace.  Most of the fights there were easy enough, but it proved quite difficult to separate out the large group with Torgal into manageable chunks, but Tumble eventually managed it.  Opening the drawbridge provided level 11 and one of the remaining spirit trolls after Torgal was killed got him to level 12 - took a second point in two weapon fighting to make that a viable strategy.

None of the fights have been particularly dangerous in themselves, but there have been two close shaves with traps.  The first was when I misremembered how far out from the stairs the trap near Captain Haegan was - fortunately the hold effect from the acid trap is only momentary.  The second was when I had thought the trap on the door to Glaicas' room was a fireball.  This meant I did not react when lightning bounced back and forth through Tumble.  I think he was hit six times, but luckily the lightning did eventually move away leaving him shocked, but still standing.

Back safely in the city Tumble has just used all his hard-earned money to buy Vhailor's helm and a rod of resurrection.

My own no-reload challenge is quite late in the game, and it's a Let's Play (text & image). But if the community accepts, i shall post a link to the thread here. (Perhaps some of you will participate even!)
Boss fights are in video format.
Mods are : SCSII, Ascension, Tactics, Imp. Asylum as well as Tweaks, Item Upgrade and Solaufein (Only for the fight in late Throne of Bhaal)
The kicker is a custom party, made by random people participating in the LP.

Since it's a double "I" run (Insanity Ironman) people die left and right though, most often permanently. Oh well!

It's actually on hold at the moment, because i have had trouble getting Imp. Ust Natha to work, and now i'm having trouble getting No-Imp.Ust Natha game to work.

Lastly, it may be breaking some unspoken rules of the "challenge" and therefore i prefer asking about whether or not i should even bother.
For example : We use some mod-added items, and i did not involve some bosses (or rather i did not show some bosses on screen, as They are easier than the ones covered)
Both of those may be a problem.

Edit : And there were quite a few technical-reloads.

Regards!

Firkraag sees all invisibility INCLUDING sanctuary. When we came back, sanctuary is what we were using! Also at that moment in time Corey didn't have a sanctuary memorized, but is irrevelant considering my prior statement.

Corey the level 11 inquisitor with fellow THREE paladin friends...

Apparently I got my information wrong in my disaster post. It wasn't Joshua who was chunked, but Uriah. I prefer this actually as I rather lose a paladin rather than an undead hunter. However it does mean I bought the firetooth crossbow for apparently nothing. Think I'm going to have to leave Kangaxx until I get back from spellhold.

More things going on, some bad. While traveling around trying to get our equipment/scroll situation squared away we ran into the worst (and last) vampire amush - 4 vampires! I didn't have daystar yet. Of course, the losses continue as Keldorn got chunked.. This was lousy news, as now I can't cast any green scrolls without gulping an intelligence potion of some kind. During the ambush I thought I only had one undead hunter, also Lily Gene got down to level 5, I can't lose her. Was time to cut my losses, I turned off the AI and fled the area.

I was however able to do some things successfully
* We obtained the berserker horn. Corey got mazed while doing that, good thing this isn't a solo run.
* We defeated some enemies in a warehouse in the bridge district. Not too bad, but had to gulp a few heal potions
* We defeated the liches at the crooked crane (yay daystar), bridge and temple districts (using protection from undead scrolls). Thanks to Uriah's chunking I no longer have anyone specialized in a +4 weapon, so will have to save Kangaxx for later.
* Defeated Mekrath using dispel magics at key times, Flail of Ages interrupting his spells helped some too. The RoR that we found was vital for our next fight
* Battled Captain Dennis. I remembered that someone here had a +2 throwing dagger that returned after each throw. I need this badly for Lily Gene as she can't use missile weapons but she is ** in daggers so that would be excellent for her. A few times people almost died (mainly due to the enemy mage), but RoR kept everyone alive and we were victorious.
* Discovered Reijek was the murderer in the bridge district and destroyed some enemies while pursuing him. Man the Rune assassins hurt, but we did eventually win.

Here's the tanking order and what's left of the party:
Joshua - level 11 undead hunter, 93 HP - Main weapons: Flail of Ages, Daystar (uses sword and shield so changes which one depending on enemies being face)
Hanna - level 11 undead hunter, 116 HP - main weapon: +2 warhammer
Lily Gene - level 11 cavalier, 99 HP - main weapons: hammer of thunderbolts, boomerang dagger
Corey - level 11 inquisitor, 94 HP - main weapons: Tasheron's short bow, Lilacor

Corey the level 12 inquisitor and his 3 paladin friends continue their adventure...

It was harder and harder to decide what to do..not much chapter 2 stuff left. I think we need more equipment before tackling planar sphere, but decided the party should be strong enough to help Haer'dalis.

First though we got to get his gem in Mekrath's lair. There's other loot as well, though the place is trapped. So ended up using a protection from magic scroll and Corey set off the traps (corey has the highest strength and hence best chance to bust open the chests). We had to fight a lot of umber hulks. We got confused a few times had to dispel magic a couple of times. Had to use RoR and heal potions too, those hulks were hitting us quite hard. But we did eventually kill them. Corey got the gem and returned to the playhouse.

Er actually we attempted Kangaxx. Corey tried to use the firetooth crossbow to kill it, but even with haste, he just doesn't get enough attacks with it. His protection from magic wore off and Corey managed to kill the lich form. However, the demi-lich was "barely damaged" so just left will have to try when we come back from spellhold.

Haer'Dalis told us Mekrath's gem is actually for traveling the planes - we fought some creatures but then some bounty hunters captured the troope. We did maximum paladin buffs and followed. One thing of note is we found a harp which is paladin usable in a vanilla install which tries to confuse enemies. We used it here, as well as hold person, silence. The initial battle went VERY well, which was quite encouraging. Whle in the prison we found several items that were very welcome - a +1 ring for Joshua, weapon expertise gauntlets for Joshua, and the Drinker! Yes! It's charm protection and just as good it uses long sword and Joshua is ** in long sword, now Bodhi's lair should be much safer. Also found haste boots, also went to Joshua.

Three more thralls battled next but the couldn't do much. Then a huge number of umber hulks attacked. Lots of heal potions and RoR shots were used, but there was nothing we could do about that. Few more thralls and a wyvern, no problem there. The Master of Thralls was close. We used our two summons that we had, Kithix and level 9 berserker and sent them to the Master. He stunned them but that was perfect, means he doesn't stun us! We attacked the Tanarii, took lots of damage but got him and his Air elementals - 3 party members leveled to 12 with this kill. We found a staff of air which can summon air elemental - gave to Corey, now we have 3 summons, whoopee.

We destroyed the orb of mastery, and then charged the Warden. Corey dispelled the warden's protections and Joshua got a critical, killing the warden and Joshua leveling to 12.

We had a LOT of stuff to ID and sell - we must have rested for like a week, we can only ID 3 things at a time due to the ID glasses (everyone's lore is 0 - our loremaster got chunked earlier in the run). This cash was welcome we bought lots of intelligence potions, that is vital both to use scrolls and tof for the one mind flayer battle we cannot avoid.

Finally was time for Bodhi's lair. We had PfE up all the time. Corey gave up Lilacor so that Lily Gene can't be charmed. This worked well. Maximum buffs for the ambush at the lower level and used the door against the enemies (only a few could reach us at a time). Forgot to use the daystar oh well. We only had PfE and 3 summons for Bodhi, she gave up in like 2 rounds.

We reported our success to Linvail and we were sent to Brynnlaw. As those of you who are keeping up with my run know, I lost all my equipment except for Corey, here is what the party is using now:

Joshua
Hanna
Lily Gene
Corey

@Corey

If you get your invisible character to run over the pile of goodies (in stead of picking them up) and pause at just the right moment then you can go into inventory and pick stuff up off the ground without becoming visible!

You might not get it right first time, but you can try many times without becoming visible.

@Wierdo. R-clicking to move does this more easily (I also use it to move onto an area exit without leaving, in order to be ready to leave quickly if necessary). However, Corey said it wasn't possible to do safely in this case because Firkraag can see through sanctuary / invisibility

Tumble tripped over at a very similar point to my last game. In the druid grove he made sure the rakshasas wouldn't cause a problem this time with heavy buffing, simmy and horn berserker. Only 1 of the rakshasas even got an attack in - that one came equipped with bracers of disintegration - which probably explains what happened to my last character.

A bit further on Tumble talked to Cernd. In that discussion the only dialogue option was to ask Cernd to fight Faldorn on Tumble's behalf and I duly expected this to happen. However, I obviously didn't read the next bit of dialogue carefully enough, when they were teleported to see Faldorn, as it was Tumble himself put in the arena. He had a grand total of 1 drain life Bhaal power available to him to try and injure Faldorn - it wasn't enough.

Ouch! Yeah there's an option where YOU challenge her, but I haven't heard of that going very well if you aren't a druid..are you sure there's wasn't a staff on the ground to pick up? Sorry to hear the end of your run Grond0.

Grond0, have you ever considered just doing a no-reload of BG 2, and keep doing it when you fail? And then when you got THAT down, then try a trilogy no-reload? Just a thought...

Ouch. I can't remember seeing a non-druid challenge before but then I always have 1 in the party at that point.

Vemric, LG human male monk. Travelling with Keldorn, Jaheira, Nalia, Imoen and Minsc.

Just a bit more of Watchers Keep going room by room from Dan Simpsons guide until I get scared.

Jaheira heals Yakman / Tamorlin so he can leave the keep then we start to follow. As we return to a directional room Keldorn is drawn east so we have to follow him. Three cornugons and a balor later I reach into a stone pillar and draw out a sword Purifier.

That's it, no more. Keldorn is insistent we can handle it, which is how we end up here.
Posted Image

He's right, we can handle it, almost. Sure, Imoen and I got stunned, Minsc was confused then charmed but Keldorn sorted everything apart from my stun. Jaheira used heal to keep me alive while the last three enemies were disposed of thought I was out then remembered heal. We rest with skeleton warriors guarding us, succeeding on our third attempt.

Just one more room says Keldorn. No no no. Sigh. Minsc and Keldorn jump a trap, Imoen deals with it and I rush in. I use a GWW so...HLA's are OK in dead magic zones, need a paladin summon diva next and the battle is much easier than we expect, apart from Keldorn "bleeding" and having to gulp an extra healing potion.
Posted Image

Minsc and Keldorn need healing, but too dangerous to rest without guards. The ring of Gaxx heals them both while I scour Yakmans journal for clues. Succubi? Helms of charm protection for Minsc could have used Lilacor and Keldorn while Jaheira already has the shield of harmony. We have a spare helm but Nalia, Imoen and I can't use anything.
Posted Image

Minsc leads the attack, Keldorn following after casting true sight. I've cast hardiness and have joined them while the ladies have summoned a flesh golem, skeleton warrior, invisible stalker, deva and the iron berserker. Our plan works, although I get drained by the final succubus. Instead of using another restoration scroll 9 left we wait for the deva to go and summon a planetar to restore me cheapskate.

After another guarded rest we buff and head south, attacking while summoning again.
Posted Image

Keldorn gets bled again so gulps an extra healing potion. Minsc and I kill a cornugon then WW/GWW Ka'rashur. Everybody targets the remaining enemies and the battle is over. The planetar heals Keldorn and Imoen searches for traps.

The next area has a pair of glabrezu and summoned salamanders, nothing to write home about. We have another guarded rest though, re-buff fire protection too if I remember correctly and head west to a wild magic room where we are attacked by tieflings. We're over-buffed really but need to carry through into the next area.
Posted Image

Back the way we came, to somewhere new. True sight helps remove a cambion before four demon knights turn up and they fall one after another. We could continue again but choose to rest again buffing and heading north. Minsc has heard undead so swaps the iMoD and FoA over.

Slave wraiths. Minsc and Keldorn rush the traps and attack the demon wraith with WW. Five of us shrug off their sprung traps but Imoen collapses. I use the rod of resurrection on her and she grabs her gear, turning invisible thanks to the SotM. She clears two traps while still being chased the slaves must ignore invisibilitywhile Nalia is drained a few levels. I add a GWW to the demon wraith but Keldorn gets the kill.
Posted Image

Aesgareth. I wager experience and Spectral Brand. Plague and triumph, he wins and Keldorn is de-cursed by a planetar.

I wager experience and Spectral Brand again. Guile and empress. Curses, no sword for me.

Third time, Emperor and Wheel. Keldorn gets MY benefits didn't think of that, as we both already have mind shield I guess it would have been better for Minsc to play?

Carston hits us with a chain lightning effect, but I'm keen to talk to Cromwell. Can he forge anything for me? Wondrous Gloves no bard, no use, Helm of the Rock Jaheira was using, won't use the ability and White Dragon Scale better AC but protection from cold less valuable than others so also bagged.

First time I've used Dan's guide for this level and first time I've successfully no-reloaded it. Makes it so much safer, although Keldorn is a huge help.

Vemric, monk level 23. Unseeing Eye. 774 kills 172 of these from BG1.
Posted Image

Minsc, ranger 19. Bodhi. 496 kills.
Posted Image

Keldorn, inquisitor 19. Tahazzar, 427 kills.
Posted Image

Jaheira, fighter 15 druid 14. 193 kills, Perth the adept.
Posted Image

Nalia, mage 19 thief 4. 112 kills, Firkraag.
Posted Image

Imoen, mage 19 thief 7. 30 kills, Adamantite golem.

Hmm unless I'm mistaken looks like Keldorn has the the Kangaxx ring, no wonder he's a "star" player for ya. : ) Good work nevertheless, Gate70.
