Here's the statement regarding Flemeth for all those who are wondering: "This dragon is more than it appears. After swooping down and grabbing a darkspawnin its talons, it transforms into a familiar figure: Flemeth. Still holding the dead darkspawn in her hand, Flemeth walks through the flames and approaches Hawke, saying "Well, well, what have we here?" (source: Game Informer Article)

Isn't that one of Morrigan's quotes from Origins?

Morrigan is Flemmeth.
I'm still firmly in the camp of Flemmeth as a title rather than a specific person.

I'm also beginning to wonder if there is some truth to this. It is quite an interesting theory.

Are we having flashbacks to the Wizard of Oz, or was that supposed to be dirty, as well as confusing?

I should be happy about this...it should be good news. I mean, "yay, Morrigan!," right?  But it's really not (if it's true).

What good is having Morrigan back if the Grey Warden isn't? It's just trading one for the other and the whole point is to get BOTH of them together! Arrgh!

On the bright side, I honestly think (as in, I'm not in denial...I'm speaking rationally here) that the quote is referring to future DLC for Origins. It's just too vague to be about DA2...it's a perfect way of avoiding saying "no Morrigan for you" without revealing anything else for sure.

Mike Laidlaw revealed...

We are certainly not done with Morrigan's story I can say that.

Yay yay yay!

I'm pretty sure when Laidlaw answered that question he wasn't misunderstood and thought that DA2 was a DLC. The interviewer specifically asked about characters coming from Origins to DA2 and LaidLaw's response was about Morrigan. So put two and two together and you have a possible Morrigan appearance. How though...well we'll have to see when it gets closer to the release date. Wherever Flemeth goes Morrigan follows and vice versa.

Antagonist is my bet, maybe not the main one, but she's up to no good.

Given that they're allowing DAO imports, they could even make the DAO Warden the villain in DA2.

I never said he got confused and thought DA2 was DLC. You may be right though...when I read the OP I thought he was specifically asked about Morrigan being in DA2, to which he replied "we're not done with her story."

But on re-reading...well the question is a little vague, but if they just asked "any Origins companions coming back?" and he immediately brings up Morrigan...then yes...I'm afraid the original conclusion might be right after all.

To be fair, his answer WAS vague, and clearly deliberately so. So I guess I'll keep the same outlook, but it means I'm a little (okay a lot) closer to the "denial" side of the spectrum than I was before.

As much as I want to see Morrigan again, NOT having her in DA2 made it that much more certain she'd be back in Origins DLC instead, which in turn made it WAY more certain that our Warden would be there too. Poo.

Her story is too big for DLC. They had her involved in so many things in DA:O that her being in DLC is quite impossible. I mean no matter what ending you pick she's either going west to Orlais or she's already in Orlais. I don't think Bioware's going to open up a whole new region for a DLC. An expansion is possible though, but considering the closeness of the release date that's quite unlikely. The most likely approach then would be to have her story be carried out in another game(s).

Not really, you could dump her after you reach Lothering and she would only appear later to offer you the ritual, which you can refuse.

If there was an epilogue dlc for Morrigan with the Warden it would be easy enough to set it entirely outdoors, that way they don't have to make new textures for Orlesian architecture. Morrigan does dislike civilized places.

~Dons conical hat of speculation~

Yes it is. It's the very first line she speaks in Origins. This brought something to mind I hadn't considered before. What if Flemeth is actually Morrigan? Assuming the real Flemeth is still incorporeal or otherwise out of the picture, I can see Morrigan voluntarily taking up her name. Stories of Flemeth go back centuries. Morrigan is already a powerful witch in her own right. If she told people who met her she was Flemeth, how many could realistically dispprove it? Identifying herself as Flemeth gives her an instant reputation she might find useful in certain situations.

It could also mean that we run into the old god child as part of a character centric sidequest, but that s/he doesn't otherwise play an important role in Dragon Age 2. After all, the child would still be a child... and Morrigan being the self-centered woman she is might agree to help Hawke in exchange for something old god child related.

I made a topic before I knew it was already brought up here.

That was exactly what I thought as soon as I read that caption. I think Morrigan is just taking up the role of her mother.

I really want to meet Morrigan again, but I'd prefer meeting her with my Warden.

I looking forward to it, even more if she'll stay hot. :P

If she appears in Lothering at the beginning, then its most likely the real Flemeth.. That's my guess. I think she will appear to help set Hawke on his way just like with our warden and Alistair.

if we meet Morrigan with child it will be sometimes later in the 10 years we have...that's unless pregancy with a god takes less time then normal...

Morrigan's story remains unresolved, but since DA2 isn't a "true" sequel to DAO, it would be pretty stupid for Morrigan and the Godchild to be involved in it.

I hate when characters are carried over to the next game, especially if there's a chance of their entire character being re-written.

I mean, in my DA:O play through, as gruff and kind of ****y as she was, she ended up fighting for "good" alongside my Warden. I'll be upset if she ends up being a minor boss fight for Hawke in DA2, killed because she's gone full on "bad".

Whatever's happened, Morrigan has an agenda. She doesn't fight, she manipulates. Flemeth had her reasons for saving you, Morrigan had her reasons for trapping the soul of an Old God in a foetus. She's not going to fight and possibly die for the game's main "bad guy", because I doubt many other people have the same agenda.

Something tells me she'll be a big part of the story though. The Old Gods, and thus the God Child are fundementally linked to the Darkspawn in a way we don't yet know. As for her potential relationship with the Warden, chances are nothing's happening there in DA2. Not sure if that'll ever be cleared up. And anyway, the most sensible move in terms of resources is for Morrigan to have been using the Warden all along, that way she simply needs to say she betrayed you (if another game involving the Warden comes out), and that you were just a pawn, blah blah blah, and then all players, Morrigan fanboys or not, are on the same plane in the story.

I think so...but Morrigan learned her speech patterns from Flemeth.
