Having greatly enjoyed playing through the different origins in the first game, I'm going to miss them. However, I also think there could be numerous compensations for the PC having a single race and background. In adition to allowing BioWare to tell a different type of story, I'm hoping that it will allow the game to respond more to the character creation choices we do still make. Now that the dialogue checks don't have to take into account six origins and three races, I'd love it if NPCs noticed if I'm a warrior, rogue or mage more often.

It's not that there weren't points in Origins where these aspects were acknowledged and important, but I'd love to see more of this. In particular, class-specific quests like the rogue  ones from Slim Coudry, only a separate line for each of the three classes. Something like the stronghold quests in Baldur's Gate II. (Not that I expect my bard to end up running the local theatre, but you get the idea.)

I think it's hard to notice warrior/rogue, versus mage (which has very specific lore associations) and generally speaking is distinguished by being alter to reality at will.

It would be nice to see a wider spread of specialty classes too. For instance, in DA:O there were warrior/pseudo-mage, rogue/warrior. mage/warrior styled specializations. But...there was no mage/rogue blend of skills. It would be cool to see something along those lines please.

This would really add to replay value.
