Both David Tennant and Christopher Eccleston have lovely voices, and I wouldn't object to hearing either of them in the game. Seems like a waste of two very sexy men if we can't see them, though. <3
You could just customize Hawke and make him look like the two of them.

LOL...as a side note, I was looking for a YouTube video of David Tennant to hear his normal accent, and I came across this. It literally could not be a worse choice for a video for hearing his voice, but it was so good I have to share:

Hey, it's a plan  Though to be fair, I have tried repeatedly to make my Wardens look like sexy famous people and failed abysmally! Eccleston was one of them - ended up as a sort of pink Shrek
On a side note, I also like Burn Gorman's voice (Owen from Torchwood) - maybe not as Hawke, could definitely see him as a bit of a snarky villain or something, though.

Some people like David Tennant, others do not. While I liked him as Dr. Who, I think Christopher Eccleton was far better.
But my main grief is, it'll be David Tennant's voice. Not the one I imagine for my character. This is so wrong! They could cast whomever they wanted, when you make your fourth Hawke, and it is still the same voice it's going to be so annoying to listen to.
far better to have lots of actors produce a limited voiceset, and then actually use them, unlike in DA:O. Then you have the gist of how your character sounds. Combine that with proper facial animations, instead of the blankness of DA:O, and you have choise, freedom and proper reactions.
This is all going so much in the wrong direction.

But the 'classic' male heroic voice always ends up sounding a little bit brutish. I'd like a hero who sounds clever, even cocky, but who definitely avoids the 'Me Tarzan' sort of stereotype. I don't think for a minute DT will end up being Hawke, but more like him than Mark Meer would be good, imo.
This.

Sorry, imho, Tennant has a weasel voice. He also sounds very cocky. That isn't heroic in any way to me. I didn't say classic, anyway. I just said heroic. Heroic means someone who sounds courageous and confident. I still don't think Tennant has those qualities.
Yes, in case you didn't notice, I really don't like him. I like Dr. Who, but I hate him. I saw him on QI once, and from then on he just really freaked me out.

Yeah, QI was NOT his finest moment. He did a much better 'heroic' voice in Hamlet, though. See, I like cocky, for a certain type of hero anyway (probably a rogue), but I can see why DT might not work as a warrior. Tbh, I was just remembering the struggle I used to have choosing male voicesets for NWN. They all sounded like thugs or maniacs, except for one which I ended up ALWAYS choosing. Part of the reason I rarely played guys.
The line between sounding confident (or a bit cocky, even) is a difficult one to walk - stray just a bit and he sounds like a w****r. And as much as I liked Zev and Alistair, I would not want my male PC sounding like either. I don't think I've ever actually heard a 'heroic' voice in a game that's made me think 'oooh, yes please'.
Sigh, will probably just end up playing girls again, since I find they generally sound a lot better, whether full VO or just voicesets.

3. Tennant smells funny.
4. Tennant doesn't have the squee factor, he instead makes me scream in horror.

On a serious note: Hawke should be voiced by an unknown. How about Christopher Walken or Rutger Hauer for the role of a qunari? that would be an epic win.

If the actor has to be british, then it has to be rowan atikson.
Tennant is scottish, though. He's like that guy from house but with a british accent instead.
You do know that Scotland is a part of Britain don't you? Also, there is no such thing as a "British accent" (You could mean Welsh, Scottish or English). Sorry, this just annoys me.

Plus, all the regional variations of the UK countries. Someone from Lancashire doesn't sound a bit like someone from Bristol. But most people from outside the UK tend to associate 'British' with posh/Received Pronunciation. I assume the same is true of people outside the US assuming a generic American accent when there is no such thing? Although the southern drawl is pretty distinctive.
Yeah I doubt any American would recongise my Northen English accent as "British"
