Plus the Doctor had an annoying habit of finding non-violent solutions to problems.

Except when he solves his problems with genocide. Seriously, he's probably the worst technical pacifist that ever lived.

Best idea ever, this would make me want to play a male Hawke.

Plus, all the regional variations of the UK countries. Someone from Lancashire doesn't sound a bit like someone from Bristol. But most people from outside the UK tend to associate 'British' with posh/Received Pronunciation. I assume the same is true of people outside the US assuming a generic American accent when there is no such thing? Although the southern drawl is pretty distinctive.

And quite a few people mistake the Newfoundland accent as southern Irish and others mistake southern Ontario accent as "American" when clearly the vowels are more clipped. You can't expect people to know regional accents, that's just silly. When people say "British" it's usually just their way of saying "accent from somewhere in the UK".

There also is a generic american accent, it's the accent you hear most american use in their news casting. It tends to be more california/ north-western accent, with no elongated or clipped vowels.

Bit in bold. Yep, that was kind of my point :) Although, asking a Scottish or Welsh person if their accent is 'English'? Definitely not a good idea :P

Gina Torres (Firefly/Angel) has a lovely voice, very soothing. Wouldn't mind hearing her in DA2.x

She would make a fine voice for a lady dwarf.  Unless she is good a faking accents other than American.

Yeah,  bad British accents really aren't something I want to hear. If Hawke & Co do get out into the country, she'd make a good Dalish.

Perhaps, but her voice would really work for a female warrior cast better than a dalish in my opinion.

Fair enough, personally I can picture her as a Ranger type. Maybe a Dwarven Ranger? :P

Rowan Atkinson is also rofl. Imagine his Mr. Bean voice. Hee hee.

Rowan Atkinson is a dynamic actor.  I specifically made one of my characters with Blackadder II in mind.

Plus, by the end of DA2, all your companions would be dead.  Or become trapped in another dimension.  Or had their memories erased.  Or their whole existence erased, and only Hawke remembers that they were ever born.  All to please Hawke.  The Doctor's a passive aggressive pacifist.  A pacifist aggressive, I suppose.

I've never watched any Doctor Who, so I think I can offer a fresh perspective on this. I didn't know who this Tennant guy was until five minutes ago. Now I've listened to his performance as Hamlet and I have to say he's quite good. He's got a good sense of timing and seems appropriately intense when he needs to. He doesn't have that monotone that made Mark Meer hard to listen to at times in ME1 (though he did a significantly better job in ME2).

If I were to have one quibble, is that maybe his voice is a bit too high-pitched. That's really the only thing. But hey, my own speaking voice is really deep, so I might be imagining things.

Ha!

Davros:
The man who abhors violence, but this is the truth: you take ordinary
people and fashion them into weapons... How many have died in your
name? The Doctor, the man who keeps on running, never looking back
because he dare not, out of shame. This is my final victory, Doctor. I
have shown you yourself.

Say what you like about RTD and The Stolen Earth in general... but that was just an awesome line.

What did he get typecast as? He sounds pretty good to me, but maybe he should go a little lower vocally. People who do stage acting are generally better at using their voices.

Oh, and LOL at people in this thread suggesting Liam Neeson and Sean Bean. My god people, they were bland (at best) in Fallout 3 and Oblivion, respectively. The only reason Bethsoft hired them is to sucker people into buying their games. It's smoke and mirrors bullsh*t at it's finest, their phoned-in performances a good reminder of that.

Which hey, this might be too, but BioWare, for all their faults, is pretty damn good when it comes to voice acting. I was initially concerned that Mass Effect 2 would have this Oblivion syndrome when I heard that they were bringing in Martin Sheen, but he did a fantastic job as The Illusive Man - really, I'm hard-pressed to think of someone who would have sounded as appropriate. Maybe Alec Baldwin or Michael Douglas, but probably because they've played powerful, amoral, corporate assh*les their entire careers, which is basically the Illusive Man's thing. Based on this evidence, I'm hopeful that Tennant will have a great performance.

Personally I think Will Arnett would make a good Hawke.
