I personally have to agree with many people especially aludrac7. The point of the game is to play it, not develop some character hoping that there will be a sequel do develop it further. We'd be doing endless circles if that were the case. Many movies used this setting : introduction, plot, ending/false-ending and imagination of an end (take Godzilla for example : the big lizard was born due to some radiation mutations, attacked the world, laid eggs, people killed the big thing, killed the small things but one, that one egg hatches and a new small thing is born then comes the end of the movie). I find it more interesting/fun to imagine what could've happened at that moment and beyond rather than have it all laid out for me, but that's personal.

Importing the state of the world as it is and experience the changes your character has made from a third person viewpoint does seem better than importing your old char and having to battle something even more dangerous and epic than a Blight, an Archdemon, High Dragons and another ghost/lightning High Dragon. It wouldn't make any sense. Like yummysoap said, "what would we do really?"

Just take WoW as an example : you've defeated Ragnaros, Onyxia, Archimonde, Lady Vashj, Kael'Thas, Illidan, Kel'Thuzad, The Lich King (for f***'s sake!) and all of their cronies and now in Cataclysm you'll have to topple the End of the World. Just like that. I don't mind being powerful but that's just ridiculous and unsensical. What'll be Blizzard's next step, a raid where you have to fight and defeat GMs (some sort of Gods) and earn phat lewtz? I don't want BioWare to take the same road and I seriously hope they won't.

So in short, I just hope that the only thing you'll be able to import are your choices/decisions and view it all from someone else's eyes. At least the quality of the story -wouldn't- fall down because it allows people to create a whole new adventure and not just a new Blight with more powerful enemies. Sure it does kind of suck when you don't know exactly how your character ended, but think of it that way : how about if you could witness how your character evolved after having defeated the Blight and The Mother through someone else's eyes during the sequel? I say that's a win. Plus, everyone wishing for closure would get it. I'd rather hear the tale of "my" death (or disappearance) rather than living it through a ridiculous plot involving totally impossible odds. Just my 2 cents.

If importing of saves wasn't possible, it would be considered canon. Either way, it's close enough for me. My import was nothing like the start of ME2 without an import. Without the import, Udina's ugly rear-end ended up on the council. With it he was a sniveling lackey like he deserved. (Anyone else hate that guy? Just me?)

Wrong, Canon =/= Default. ME has no canon, neither does DAO. Just because the "default" story path happens in either ME2 or DA2 does not mean its established  canon.  Hell KOTOR is the only bioware game that has established canon like revan being male and the lightside ending.

What would be ideal, is have another final expansion or large dlc about morrigan, that you find her, romance, explains her reasons, the child, etc. ends DA nicely and sets it up for Dragon Age 2 were you start with your new character. I'd pay $30 for the expansion, hopefully bioware does something instead of leaving everyone hanging and that's it...............cheers all.

Some people are saying that your choices import but your character does not.

It's not just some people.  It's confirmed by BioWare.  They want your version of Thedas from one game to the next to be consistent.  So your Origins game was not pointless or totally isolated.

as it seems some of the choices will matter, but if we are really lucky then maybe even the looks/equipment of our character gets transferred, even if only to meet it as an NPC

Not everyone was lovers with Morrigan.

I've completed the game through its entirety 4 times and played partial games other times.
Game 1 was a Human Warrior.  Romance with Morrigan, did not undergo Dark Ritual so Morrigan left and let Alistair take killing blow.

Game 2 was a Human Mage.  Romance with Leliana, Dark Ritual so no vested interest in finding Morrigan.

Game 3 was an Elf Rogue.  She did not have a Romance. When Morrigan requested convincing Loghain to sleep with her, turned it down.  This Warden died.

Game 4 was a Dwarf Male.  Romance with Leliana, again, Dark Ritual no vested interest in finding Morrigan.

While I am interested in Morrigan as a character and would gladly play something with her, it's already been hinted that she may make an appearance in DA2 and we know for sure Flemeth will be in it.  BioWare has said her story is not complete yet.

You need to understand that no matter how much you seem to desperately want it, Morrigan was not in love with your Warden and she has no intentions of having a meet and greet with you to explain your relationship and why she left you.  All she wanted was the god child.  End of story.

But I told her to GTFO not once but twice and Allistair died as a result. How do you make an expansion with your premise that works with my 'main' warden's choices, huh ? :P

Um, there was the ending where she WAS in love with the main character and even cried about that she has to leave so this is not entirely true
