Could introduce major/minor characters from the full game and give you an idea of there background; like leilana's song except release it before you release the major game.

- bioware gets to sus out what does and doesn't work for their upcoming game by player reaction
- players get introduced to main protagonists, and get to preview whether da2 is something they wish to purchase.
- pre-game dlc which is character based makes more sense before playing main game; imagine playing leilana's song before playing dao and getting a real appreciation for that character

 I understand if you are not keen on this idea bioware but I put it out there for your consideration

It's called a demo.

Not the same thing really is it; demo is the small version of the main game; I am talking about adding content that adds to that game not the actual game

Something like Leliana's Song, a DLC that features the backstory of one of your DA2 party members pre-release would be pretty awesome. It's probably not going to happen though. People who don't like the DLC would use it as a figurehead to trash the main game pre-release and it would probably be bad exposure for DA2 in the end.

You guys have to understand that for about half of us out there, DLC will never please and will always disappoint. I personally love it, but I can see that there's an angry mob out there that despises it.

This sounds exactly like what Capcom is trying to do with Dead Rising 2: a prequel demo (that I believe bridges the two games), albeit it that theirs would be a paid demo (in the form of an XBLA title).

In theory it is a pretty interesting way to promote your game, but 'forcing' the consumer into purchasing what essentially is a preview takes away pretty much any potential the idea ever had.

DLC that foreshadows DA2 would be something I could get behind, but Indoctrination is probably right. That's a powderkeg if ever there was such a thing.

I think i'd be happy with a pre release of the character generator so I can start making him/her now, especially if they have added things to it like height/weight sliders, scars and other fun stuff.

At first i was a bit skeptical but Leliana's Song as a pre release DLC for DAO would have rocked. It would as you have said really given the player a sense of who the character is. Nice idea i wholly support but i doubt if it will happen.
