After joining up with Kivan, we were almost decieved by Silke into killing inocent men.

However, we saw through her lies and she died. She charmed me with the result that I hurt members of my own party. Posted Image

Kivan had to be raised. Fortunately Jahiera had 2HP left.

Bassett recruited Edwin in place of Xzar and felt that he should cement his allegiance by carrying out the mission at the gnoll stronghold.  First stop was the Xvart village, which has normally been a walkover.  However, something (probably Dark Side of the Sword Coast) meant the opposition was rather tougher than I expected.  Lots of shamans caused trouble and at one point 4 of the party were held, though they all survived.  It was lucky that the script for the Xvart Protectors didn't seem to be working properly and they tended to stand around looking gormless.  In the cave, however,  there were more unexpected Xvarts and Montaron carelessly got himself killed which necessitated a trip back to Beregost.  On the return the party showed the rest of the Xvarts a bit more respect (but still killed them all of course).  Also took on Borda - he only managed to sleep one character before going down.

At the stronghold I was aware a party of bounty-hunters would be waiting.  The thief made an invisible attack, but fortunately made a critical miss and none of the the others caused too much trouble.  The rest of the stronghold defenders just offered a certain amount of cannon fodder for experience.  Bassett now level 2/2/3 - noticed he got 3 HP for his mage level, which should be impossible, but I won't argue.  At the front Kagain now has 53 HP at level 4; with his regeneration ability and an armour class of -9 (courtesy of dwarf mithril plate and shield) he already makes a pretty formidable tank.

Latest stop is at the Nashkel mines.  Greywolf was kind enough to donate a nice long sword to Imoen and the mines themselves now await!

Flail of Oghma - Diary

Kivan is complaining that we haven't yet dealt with Tazok, so I thought it best to go to the Nashkel mines.
My plans had been to help Brage and the archaeologist, but they will have to wait.

Coran spotted some assassins in the mines without being seen himself. This allwed me to use Holy Smite.
Two of them were killed outright. I cast it again and we then moved in. They were not too difficult having been severely injured already.

Mulahey was even easier.

Xan joined us, but was killed by a ghast whilst searching for wands etc.

We headed for Nashkel next to collect our reward.

We killed Tarnesh and headed for the bandit camp.

Lamalha's ambush was disastrous for all concerned.

Bassett and co should have been able to storm through the mines without any difficulty.  However, they did have a bit of trouble en route.  First, Montaron discovered the hard way (at the end of a duergar mace) that he had not redonned a helmet after being killed previously.  After a weary trip back home Edwin then got too close to a kobold archer and suffered the same fate.  The remainder of the mines were uneventful and the party went on to clean out the Southern Wastelands and Dragon's Run (no sign of any dragons).

After returning Samuel to the Friendly Arm the gold accrued to date was put in to paying for item upgrades for a couple of wyvern heads and a ring of fire resistance.  On resting Bassett got his second LMD, so doesn't need to be scared of improving reputation now.  Then it was time to head south again with a view to cleaning up some more areas.  A bit belatedly (L5 thief with 19,200 XP) decided to dual Imoen to a mage - this party is going to simply bristle with magic missiles.

Bassett & Co continued pacifying areas to the south of Beregost.  The party is now at 5/6 level and will stomp anything without magical ability.  Only casualty during this session was Montaron (again!) who failed to move out of the way quickly enough after Kagain was charmed by a Sirene.  A bit worryingly I also noted that Bassett has been struck twice by lightning during storms.  Unlike any game I've played previously this lightning does damage (of a considerable amount).  I think he would just have survived even without the familiar in his pack, but would have been down to a point or two.

Also travelled up to the Ankheg farm for some easy XP on the way to find Ulgoth's Beard and pick up the Greenstone Amulet and a ring of free action.  On the way I was initially surprised by an ambush at the bridge (shouldn't have been as I've seen them twice before, the first occasion causing the death of the party).  However, as the party opted to talk rather than opening fire immediately there was time for a quick redeployment and there were no problems in finishing them off.  Noticed in travelling around here that the map now shows it is possible to travel into Baldur's Gate, although the bridge is still down.  Decided not to do this in case it caused a programme glitch.

Also came across one character I've not seen before in a Beregost tavern (presumably from Dark Side of the Sword Coast), but decided not to recruit them until the party is a bit stronger.

Cleared the Ankhegs. Xan died (Again)

Was ambushed by Molkar and was almost wiped out. In the end it was Molkar's party that was wiped out.Posted Image
However the drain on my finances having to raise dead so often is causing me to have problems buying better equipment. Posted Image

We made our way to the bandit camp and cleared it. Quite a battle! However, more bodies to raise!

Yes, he is certainly high maintenance! Posted Image
He was OK against Lamalha though due to casting shield in time. Everyone else got blasted in that one!
I have been wondering whether to use Indira instead in subsequent games.
Any thoughts anyone?
I want to keep the party all elven if possible.

I have been having problems upgrading my belt of piercing. (Dark Horizons mod) My belt of piercing is recognised but potion of fire giant strength is not. (POTN05) Any ideas why?

I had the same issue with the girdle. He also refused to craft the Wyvern helm for me. Will try it again, but this time with BGT installed, instead of Tutu.
Indira is ok. I never took her along for the entire ride, but she's a pretty decent ranged attacker (though Coran is better). Low strenght, though, iirc, and thus not very effective in melee for a large part of the game. She's good company, though. Plus she provides some arcane backup. Xan is better (provided you use the mod that changes him to a sorceror), of course, but then, i have this soft spot for depressed elves.

I think I had the same issue in my previous game.  My conclusion was that some of the potions introduced by mods do not have the same code as the traditional ones and that this upgrade requires a mod potion.  Try buying one from Al-Mustapha - I think this is where I acquired my potion from in my current game (where the upgrade went ahead without problems).

Bassett & Co have continued to pacify areas.  Now cleared all TOTSC areas up to bandit camp except Larswood / Peldvale and Durlag's Tower.  There are also a couple of new areas visible, which presumably come from Dark Side of the Sword Coast.  Problem areas were:
# Ulcaster - at this time Imoen had not yet got her thieving abilities back and I let Kagain walk through a trap in the belief it was a spike trap.  The resulting fireball killed Viconia and Imoen; Montaron and Edwin both only just survived by virtue of their protective equipment (Bassett with 100% protection wondered what all the fuss was about).  Annoyingly, once I had grabbed the book, the ghost refused to resurface despite visiting regularly for a number of days.
# Mutamin - Kagain was petrified by a basilisk despite being protected.  I presume that a mod has given the gaze a chance to wear through the protection.  Good job I didn't use Bassett in the lead role!
# Kaahrk - Edwin's repeated remove magics had no effect on him and various stoneskins / mirror images took some time to wear down.  In the meantime a fireball accounted for Montaron.

The problem with the helm has apparently been rectified in the latest version of Dark Horizons

Have discovered the reason that the Maretha quest has been buggy is that I have been using version 16 not 18. I have therefore done a re-installation.

Flail of Oghma however came to a sticky end due to most of the party succumbing to Chaos at the top of the Cloakwood mines.

Sorry to hear that.

After falling victim to drow in the underdark (and then losing an un-entered halfling warrior outside Mulaheys quarters) I'm back. BG/TotSC/Patch. Added Ease of use higher stacking/sales only. Ubuntu Linux and Wine Windows emulator, tried installing BGT but not succeeded yet although now think I know how to get round the problem I had.

Wyara, TN female human druid. Started with Jaheira's portrait, switched to Branwen but Jaheira now has her secondary portrait and I can't change it in gatekeeper and swordcoastkeeper installs but won't run. Ho hum.

It's not the usual story around Candlekeep. First Fuller gives me a magical dagger then a thug called Carbos gives me a kicking. I knife him a couple of times and he collapses. Then the cats refuse to let me out of the storehouse and a second thug called Shank carries on where Carbos left off. Luckily I learnt how to use my knee against Jondalar so deal with this threat quicker than the first.

Gorion is killed in a night-time ambush; only my seasonal blend of clothing saves me from a similar fate. Imoen seems a reasonable travelling companion, proving her worth by skilling an assassin called Tarnesh.

Jaheira is our next travelling companion, meaning Khalid can tag along as our melee decoy. She and Khalid each take a belt from an ogre. Jaheira is transformed into a man, which should make for an interesting marriage. I explain that we cannot afford to remove the curse just yet.

Jaheira wants to head to Nashkel mine but I'm wary and insist we work up to the task instead. My caution proves correct when a mage called Zordral kills Khalid despite two heal spells. After dealing with him we spend 100gp at a temple to restore Khalid then think about finding some easy work.

Hard luck Wise.

Basset & Co continued their sword coast campaign at the Bandit Camp. Tazok went down easily and the rest of the camp soon followed. Most of the party stayed in the corner of the map protected by web spells while Kagain took on all comers from the middle of the web - the few opponents that reached him were shot by the others. However, over-confidence very nearly caused Bassett's downfall in exploring the remainder of the map. Attacking someone (Brutus Bloothirsty?) Bassett went into a rage despite his green amulet protection. The party managed to kill Brutus with Bassett down to 7 HP, but even then there were anxious moments as there were still an ogre mage and an ogre to deal with. Bassett landed one blow on Viconia - nearly killing her - but she just about kept him away from the ogres while they were being finished off.

After learning a few new spells and checking equipment the party attacked the cloakwood. Generally Kagain took the lead, with his ring of free action, to trigger traps and deal with the spiders. Only encounter of concern was when the rest of the party left Imoen in a web assuming she would catch up shortly, but 5 phase spiders teleported in (one next to Imoen). Fortunately Imoen saved twice against poison before managing to free herself (it would have been touch and go whether Viconia got back with a remove paralysis in time if she hadn't).

The mines themselves were pretty straightforward.  Kagain came the nearest to being a victim when caught in a repeating lightning bolt from Daveorn, but managed to chug down the appropriate potion in time.

New Game Character Dwarven Cleric of Tempus

http://s460.photobuc...r/Tempus Fugit/

I have discovered that the above takes a while to load, so just to let you know, all stats except Charisma maximised. Charisma 2.
Diary of Fugit

In Candlekeep, I found that my strength of 18 was not sufficient to break into chests. I therefore tried to increase my strength using spells. My strength actually decreased, so I slept and tried again, slept and tried again. Eventually my strength was increased to 18/50 and I was able to acquire a potion of claity and some gold.

I was attacked by three assassins, but because of my spiritual weapon and enrage, they were not a problem.

However, I realised that it was time to leave and did so with Gorion, after arranging to meet up with some friends in the Friendly Arms Inn.

On the way, we were ambushed and Gorion was killed, so I made my way back to Candlekeep.
I wasn't allowed to enter, but I was able to arrange his burial.

I headed for the inn, but was ambushed at the doorway. I cast command and left quickly as I had already exhausted my spells avoiding wolves. After sleeping I returned, this time prepared for battle. Enraged, and with my spiritual weapon equipped, I attacked him, a mage named Tarnesh. Though I had to use two healing potions, he was no match for me.Posted Image

I looked for my friends, but they were not to be found.
I therefore headed for the security of Baldur's Gate. On the way I solved the problem of a woman whose dead husband was a zombie. I also dealt with an evil band of fishermen and by so doing acquired a better flail.
I was unable to enter Baldur's Gate, so headed southward in the hope of finding civilisation.

I arrived at the town of Beregost where I was accosted by marl. I calmed him down and got a book for Firebead.

I am now a level 4 cleric.

Wyara, TN female human druid. Imoen, Jaheira, Khalid and added Garrick.

After a few days gathering experience we explore Nashkel mine. Khalid keeps Mulahey occupied by succumbing to rigid thinking, leaving us to deal with the minions. He recovers and we move in to Mulahey only for Khalid to be held, so the rest of us finish the job and wait for him to snap out of it.

Nimbul is no match for us, nor is Tranzig. Droth the ogre mage is another matter. Khalid, Garrick (unarmed) and Imoen have a nap while I am charmed into attacking Jaheira. She is then also charmed so doesn't react when Khalid is killed by a lightning bolt. Imoen and Garrick recover, only for Garrick to be charmed. Imoen manages to kill Droth but is killed by Jaheira after running a long distance. Jaheira recovers in the middle of a pack of wolves and has to fight them off while Garrick attacks her. She has to escape as he recovers and dies. Somehow we pick up everything of value and escape....

...into an ambush. Jaheira is encumbered after grabbing Imoens gear at a boundary so we are lucky to escape from wild dogs and half ogres. 1400gp later we are all up and ready to continue.

Bassett and Co had a grand time in Baldur's Gate catching up on their errands and shopping.  Only slight drawback was when the party stole the telescope and a few other items under the eyes of guards - Edwin ran the wrong way and got himself surrounded, which meant a visit to the temple was required.  A quick trip to Candlekeep passed off without incident before Sarevok was finally brought to book at the palace.

Disdaining to chase after him, the party returned to the wilds and recruited Jet'laya (in place of Viconia).  They successfully chased down her sister and then dealt with the lich that had interfered with her.  Flushed with success they decided to take on a forest dragon that was threatening Nashkel.  Unfortunately Kagain had the impression the dragon would breathe acid and took precautions accordingly - even his dwarven constitution didn't save him from poison and Jet'laya also got taken out by the same breath.  However, judicious use of summons + Montaron's vicious ranged attack with the Morgoth bow was sufficient to finish the dragon off.  Now attempting to find the kidnapped son of the mayor of Nashkel.

Update - just waded through the various forms of undead to rescue the baby.  Along with other treasure found a couple more stat books - Bassett now has a base constitution of 20, which is not bad going for a non-dwarfPosted Image.  Rather annoying Cu-ch whatsisname left the party without warning taking loads of equipment with him, but I suppose we've still got more than we really need.  Just picked up the next quest - a nephew gone missing this time.

Wyara, TN female human druid. Imoen, Jaheira and Khalid.

Garrick is left to guard the Lions Way with a promise that we may come back later for him. Khalid deals efficiently with the Black Talon Elite archers in Larswood but each encounter with a bear requires us to heal him. Teven and his gang are shown no mercy.

In Peldvale we rescue Viconia and travel with her for a few moments before parting ways. Raiken only has a couple of archers with him so is quickly killed. Deke and his bandits are helped by gibberlings but Khalid uses Bjornin's magical shield to fend them all off.

At the bandit camp Ardenor Crush manages to hit Khalid once. We clear a cave before retiring to heal, then return to face Taugosz Khosann and one archer who we charm. We heal Khalid five times during the battle and he gulps a potion once, but eventually we win. The charmed bandit helps defeat more bandits but finally expires leaving us to finish on our own. After looting, re-equiping, resting and buffing we enter the bandit HQ.

Raemon hits me, but my concentration is unbroken and I still manage to charm him. Venkt is our primary target, with our distracting missiles working until Khalid kills him. Britik and Raemon are attacking each other so we join in. He hits me so I run away as I am badly wounded. He falls but Hakt switches target and finds a ****** in my ankheg plate. As he fires I see it coming (so level up) and try to gulp a potion but the arrow is too quick and....

game over. Good luck folks, back soon.

Edit, just realised I'd switched the gauntlets of dexterity to Khalid for Taugosz and should have taken them back before entering the HQ.

Ninoe update:

Went through the complete southern part of the Sword Coast below the level of Candlekeep, except for the Firewine bridge and Durlags Tower. Nothing very exciting happened, it just took a lot of time to cover everything. Antichickenator failed. Brage and Bassilus were slain. Cleared Ulcaster without too many problems except for the wolves that kept respawning and I forgot to take the book with me upstairs for the ghost of Ulcaster, so I actually did it twice going through wolves and spiders again.... Still to do Firewine as I will take the road from the Halfling Village. Currently right at the point of entry. Afterwards I'll go up through the east until I get to the Bandit Camp. Then I'll clear the Mines before going to the City and between the City and Candlekeep I think I will go through Durlags Tower.

In Vanilla I have less to report than my go through BGT+SCS... too bad that installation was bugged. I'll try that again sometime because Vanilla is a breeze...

Diary of Battleguard of Tempus, Fugit

I have been up and down the main road between Beregost and Nashkel and have made it safe for travellers.
I have also helped Rufie, a cat, a cow, a dryad, an archaeologist, and Brage. I was forced to kill Bassilus and Zargal, some half-ogres, several groups intent on assassinating me and half-way down the mines, I am now well equipped.

I have been joined by Gavin and Imoen.

The huge armoured figure rewards a random bandit archer for the elimination of Corlis the (unentered) level 1 half elf druid. The spare change is passed to Mr Vanilla Interface for finally forcing a gnomish illusionist/thief to give up.

Diary of Battleguard of Tempus, Fugit

The battle at the camp was expensive in necklace charges and the like, but sucessful. Moved on to Cloakwood after picking up Dynahir. Fighting the spiders, Imoen got herself killed. After raising her, we killed a few wyvern and had their heads turned into helmets at the Friendly Arms. Found that we couldn't get to the mines, due to forgetting to pick up some papers. After getting them, was attacked at the Friendly Arms Inn by some GOOD GUYS!!! Killed them, but some guards attacked us. Charmed one. He was killed by the other guard. Didn't want to kill him due to reputation. Charmed him and put him where I am unlikely to meet him. Have been given a quest by some druids in Cloakwood.

P.S. If I summon some monsters, attack them to make them hostile and charm the guard.
If the guard is killed by those monsters, will I lose reputation?

Edit
The above tactic worked. Guard now dead, reputation still 20.Posted Image

Rescued Miranda. Killed Drasus and party. Killed dragon and getting on 20 wyvern during my travels.

Reached Davaeorn. His henchmen killed him due to one of his spells hurting them.

Reached Baldur's Gate. The assassins near the bridge were defeated easily.

Bassett & Co have spent quite a bit of time working through dark side of the sword coast quests - huge numbers of maps have been reused:unsure: - must have gone through at least 10 map areas so far with duergar and drow as the main enemies, which has got a bit boring to be honest.  Most of the encounters have provided little challenge, but Jet'laya and Montaron were killed in a fight based on the Flaming Fist HQ map.  In most fights Kagain has provided an adequate shield, but in this one there were loads of duergar thieves with multiple potions of invisibility and the party members without stoneskin found themselves rather vulnerable to backstabs.  Picked up Ferthgil Trollslayer after one battle as a replacement for the dead Jet'laya.

A high-level party on Daveorn's map have just been vanquished and finding a book describing the history of the dark side rather suggested that was the end.  However, there are still multiple exits from the next map, which suggests there is still more to come on another day.

I haven't got DSoSC installed so if you continue to find it of little interest, please keep us informed. I have Dark Horizons installed and like the fact that I can be ambushed at any moment, sometimes when I am not expecting it.

Diary of Fugit

Have done all that I could to help in Baldur's Gate and took on the Iron Fist by stealth. The battle outside Candlekeep was tough, but we survived Posted Image. We have had a run in with prat and friends. After a preliminary skirmish, we retreated and have used a summoned nymph for healing. We are now waiting for their spells to wear off before buffing ourselves and moving in once more.

Addendum

Prat and co fell easily, though we did have to do some healing.

Headed south in the hope of finding Dynaheirs'  Journal.

Wiped ot a village of Xvarts, A bandit called Neville, and so many wolves and bears that it is surprising that Jahiera has not objected.

Have remembered that Dynaheir still wants her journal. Advice on approximate location would be appreciated.
Area rather than precision please.
I believe that the area has been changed to avoid conflict with the Drizzt Saga.

I have picked up an item where the pirates were found. However it is invisible and cannot be removed from inventory. Any idea what it is? I presume that it is a bug.
