I'm still deciding what L1 NPC components to install before I leave Candlekeep, but I might just resort to Shadowkeeper anyway.

Adventures of soloing human cleric Avorunis:
Upon return to Friendly Arm Inn, Avorunis killed Tarnesh using his favorite Command + Hold combination. Further north, he helped Talosian fishermen to get rid of Tenya, priestess of Umberlee.

Afterwards, Avorunis returned south. He defeated Half-Ogres who injured paladin Bjornin and returned to Beregost for reward. Avorunis traveled further south and visited Nashkel. He defeated Neira, advanced to level 5 and with newly obtained Animate dead spell, he easily defeated mage Zordral. In Nashkel mines area, Avorunis killed bounty hunter Greywolf. Next, he entered the mines and defeated cleric Mulahey. Back in Nashkel, Avorunis killed Nimbul. In Beregost, he interrogated Tranzig and learned about location of Bandit camp. After saving Melicamp and defeating pack of wolves near Beregost temple, Avorunis advanced to level 6 with 47 HP.

Aside from those, I modded a few others just in case:
Ajantis is now an Inquisitor. He worked well as a Cavalier but I want to try out the other Paladin kits.
Garrick is a dual-wielding Blade again, in case I need an extra man.
Xan is also a Sorcerer, as last time, though I'll probably only take him before getting Dynaheir, or if she dies.
So far Olansus has more or less finished everything in Candlekeep. Unfortunately, Throwing Axes are as expensive as daggers, but he's been doing well with Darts so far due to his hit-and-run abilities. He's also pretty mean with an axe. I'm debating whether to pick up some armour; his AC is only 5, but with FP&PS, it might be best to go lightly or even unarmoured to make best use of the speed boost.

Anyway, Olansus spent quite a while running away from Gibberlings, and was nearly killed due to my own clumsiness, but then proceeded to head south and east to Beregost. He then:
o Settled a family dispute
o Calmed down Marl
o Fetched a book for Firebead
...which got him to L2...
o Headed south towards Nashkel
o Killed some ogrillions, retrieving a letter
o Reached Nashkel (Ch 2)
o Killed a baby wyvern, and talked his way out of subsequent arrest
o Talked to Noober
...which got him to L3.
He then headed back up to the Coast Way, picked up Imoen (who leveled to L3) and dualed to a Mage (with Sleep and Blindness as his spells).
The duo:
Olansus, Chaotic Good Human Male Barbarian 3 -> Mage 1
HP: 29, AC: 6
Missile Weapons
Imoen, Neutral Good Human Female Assassin 3
HP: 19, AC: 3
Long Swords/Missile Weapons
Move Silently: 45, Hide in Shadows: 60
If Imoen stays a pure thief, she should be able to take some points in Find Traps before we head to the Nashkel Mines, especially if we grab the Boots of Stealth for her.
The plan is to return Mirianne's letter, rescue Melicamp, and do whatever else I can do to get Imoen to L4 and, preferably, Olansus to L2. Then, we'll probably try and take on Karlat with Blindness (and thus do Perdue's and the Slime Quests).

Alora's encounter with Drasus went very smoothly. Drasus did make a good move that forced Alora deeper into her potion collection then she might have liked. But aside from that, it was a lovely evening.
The Plan: Buff with a Protection from Acid Scroll, a Potion of Fire Resistance, a Potion of Insulation, a Potion of Strength, a Potion of Regeneration, the Shield Amulet, the Greenstone Amulet, and a Potion of MIrror Eyes (for Kysus's COrb). Keep a Potion of Absorption and an Oil of Speed at the ready.
Approach Hidden in Shadows with the Cloak of Non-Detection and the Martial Staff equipped. Eliminate Kysus with a Backstab. Once he is dead, Petrification will no longer be a threat and the Potion of Mirror Eyes can be allowed to elapse. Next, pelt Drasus with Darts of Stunning, equip the Dagger of Venom, and go to work on him. Use your Aura to burn Rezdan. Use the Missle Weapon AC items to negate Genthore. Attend to Genthore once Rezdan and Drasus have fallen but not sooner.
Execution: As mentioned, a good move by Drasus threw off Alora's plan slightly. Nonetheless, she emerged from the fight virtually unscathed and without excessive resource loss.
As planned, Alora opened with a Martial Staff Backstab on Kysus. That worked.
She then equipped her Darts of Stunning, turned, and prepared to fire on Drasus.
Drasus- Gulp! (Potion of Magic Shielding)
Alora- Touche...
Drasus- Gulp! (Potion of Frost Giant Strength)
Alora- Gulp! (Potion of Absorption, Equips Girdle of Bluntness)

Now with the THACO/AC advantage, Alora was ready to tango.
Shall we dance? The moonlight is dreamy.

Some Guards attempted to step in on Drasus.
Naughty, naughty boys...

Don't worry Rezdan: I haven't forgotten about you...

Alora was enjoying the dance. But when you are young, all loves must end. This one was no exception.
Not to be rude Drasus, but I think I'll find another partner now, you look a bit...Peaked...

Gethore decided he didn't want to dance anymore. He took cover in the shed.
Never keep a lady waiting dear...

Fin!
Best,
A.

I guess that fight was perfectly possible for me after all, but I fancy I was a bit too reliant on unpredictable factors like save-or-die spells and saving against theirs.

Well done on the Mines fight, Alesia.
You may be on the right track there The Fred. For me, minimizing the role of chance is critical in no reload play- especially when it comes to the PCs saves. If my PC ever has to roll to save throughout the adventure, I consider it a major lapse on my part. I try not to leave anything at all to chance on that front.I guess that fight was perfectly possible for me after all, but I fancy I was a bit too reliant on unpredictable factors like save-or-die spells and saving against theirs.
I'm willing to use Save-or-Else stuff against enemies, but I don't let my PC depend on success. To my mind, the roll of those effects is to conserve resources not lives. The Mines fight actually provides a nice example. Alora wanted to use her Darts of Stunning on Drasus at first so she could avoid burning an Oil of Speed or Potion of Absorption. She still had the Oil of Speed and the Potion of Absoption at the ready however. And when one was needed, she drank without hesitation. The Darts of Stunning could have saved a potion, but she wasn't expecting them to save her.
Anyhoo. That's just one approach. Best of luck The Fred!
Good Hunting,
A.

He's actually had several attempts at a no reload so far, most of which end with Tarnesh or Karlat. The furthest he got was the Nashkell mines where he got complacent and died after walking into a trap whilst being shot by kobold archers.

The plan is to join up with Khalid and Jaheira just to get as far as Beregost, then replace them with Garrick and Kivan. Minsc will be recruited but just on a temporary basis to rescue Dynaheir. Eventually Pingwin will head back north and join up with Ajantis and Safana so that Imoen can dual to a mage. Assuming he lives that long...

I had to re-install. Consistent stats for the trilogy party wasn't working, when I tried re-doing BG2 Tweaks it uninstalled BGT and left me with SOA. Trying a slightly different order.
BG2 Fixpack; core fixes
One Pixel Productions; visual changes
Ascension;
-Core changes
-Tougher Abazigal
-Tougher Demogorgon
-Tougher Gromnir
-Tougher Illasera
-Tougher Yaga-Shura
BGT
BG2_TWEAKS;
- Unlimited Bags / stacks
- Turn off hideous cloak / mirroring animations
- Add Bonus merchants
- BG2 stats for Viconia, Jaheira, Minsc, Edwin
Generalised Biffing; reduces game lagging
Stoht pronounced Stoat, CG halfling male bounty hunter I learnt a lot with my last BH run, hoping I can do this one justice.
Str 17
Dex 19
Con 17
Int 16
Wis 9
Cha 9
* dagger, * shortbow
I've got a blue hood. Sure, my face is an easy target but nobody is looking at my hands. Carbos and Shank work this out too late but an armoured assassin is not fooled. I escape with my life, unlike Gorion.
I deal with a third assassin called Tarnesh then get myself equipped.
Dagger. Borrowed from a revenant +2, heart of the golem.
Rings. Searching nook and cranny protection +1 and fire resistance.
Boots. Hobgoblined stealth.
Girdles. Krumm and a slow ogre bluntness and piercing.
Ludrug the gnoll is a pain. Whatever I try to do I end up leaving the shadows and attacking him even from the other side of the map, like a script gone mad. Eventually I fight him, and after a couple of stabs get slashed. I quickly heal and try to fight from a distance curse this script and after several hits he relents and leaves me alone. Good riddance.
I'm ready for Nashkel mine now. I practice two backstabs on kobolds, remove a bunch of snares and sneak to Mulahey. He falls to snares as do a group of kobolds but I have to finish off four mangled skeletons with my knife.
A pair of jellies are next, then I do an inventory drop in Beregost before returning to snare Lamahla and her gang. On to Nashkel where I add Nimbul and Neira to a growing list of assassins. Karlat is assassin number six.
Tranzig is next, then Silke. I snare and backstab Raiken then convince Teven to let me into the bandit camp. Tazok gets snares, arrows and a backstab before agreeing I can stay.

Anyway, Olansus got Mirianne's ring and ran into some skellies on the way to High Hedge. That prompted me to flee and head to the Coast Way, where we tackled the ogre and got the belt for some protection. We then carried on north to the FAI, where we dealt with some hobgoblins and, somewhat jammily, Tarnesh.
I figured I was taking a bit of a risk, but Olansus opened with Blindness which worked - if it hadn't he would have fled. Imoen was behind Tarnesh all along; the plan was she'd deliver a backstab, then use poisoned darts. Neither worked - the backstab missed, and Tarnesh got his Mirror Images up before I figured to start the darting. However, he suffered a morale failure and fled. We killed him just as he recovered, but he was Blind anyway so hey. We got the XP too, nice.
Imoen also managed to pickpocket Algernon, so no reputation drop.
Imoen's poison has come in useful so far. The gnolls outside High Hedge were easily taken down with poisoned darts, and the wolf to the south too, even though Olansus' Sleep failed. Unfortunately, Melicamp wasn't so lucky and perished when Thalantyr tried to restore him (damn, I lost out on Olansus' level 2 there).
We also retrieved Gurke's cloak when up near the FAI, so we need to give that to him still. Should be worth a few more XP, anyway.

Don’t panic! The girls are still around… let’s see, Gullykin turned out to be a bum steer (wild goose chase) but we did trade in the somewhat questionable Minsc for the rock steady Shar-teel. A thief named Safana offered us anything our hearts desire in exchange for our help recovering a tome from the nearby sirine infested caves. We recharged the frost wand and headed to the tower for our next tome… got ambushed by assassins at the front door but superior firepower (frost, ogres, two fireballs and charm) saved us from any embarrassment. With the wisdom tome and the +2 simitar (on the roof) collected the girls are currently resting at FAI while debating the wisdom of acquiring a drow cleric before assaulting the bandits’ stronghold.

To be honest, there is that much randomisation that even when using pure damage attacks you can just roll all 1s or whatever, but the difference is less severe.
Agreed. You can never eliminate chance writ large entirely. All you can really do is influence the distribution of outcomes. And when judiciously used, Save-or-Else can have a beneficial effect on that distribution.
Best,
A.

Yeah. I still have the list. It needs to be updated though.
In upcoming days, I'll update it and convey it to a few other board members. That's something more than one of us should have- especially since I tend to disappear.
We should also decide on a way to maintain it on the forums.

Brief update on adventures of soloing human cleric Avorunis:
Avorunis cleared bandit camp, and defeated guards in Tazok’s tent. To accumulate experience, he then traveled along the Sword Coast, completing miscellaneous quests and killing monsters.

After advancing to level 8 and hitting the XP cap, Avorinus headed to Cloakwood. He helped Aldeth against druids, found body of Chelak in the lair of spider queen and defeated mercenaries guarding the entrance to the secret Cloakwood mine.
Avorunis entered the mine and found inner sanctum. Properly buffed, he defeated Davaeorn and flooded the mine.

Avorunis, level 8 Cleric with amazing 64HP, is currently operating in Baldur‘s Gate.

Bandit camp. I start with an indecent backstab Damage seems very high. 17 Strength and single weapon style with Hentold's dagger. 19+13=32 x3 gives 62 damage. Does this sound right?
I shoot down Ardenor Crush and his hobgoblins, then snare Taugosz Khosann and his bandits. More snares take Raemon, Venkt and Britik while I backstab and shoot Hakt.
It's not long before Drasus and co trigger five snares. Three are dead but Drasus is chasing me. A final snare on the bridge drops him. After a quick sneak through the mine Davaeorn is snared, but I am slowed by a mustard jelly. I try to flood the mine but realise I haven't rescued Rill so return to pay him off. This is harder to do, and I barely escape from two ghasts thieving skills too widely spread to hide reliably enough.
With the mine flooded I head into the city, grab a tome of dexterity, sort out an ogre mage in the sewers and doppelgangers in the Seven Suns. The Iron Throne is full of mercenaries, snares deal with most of them and Gardush requires a further backstab.
Duke Eltan sends me back to Candlekeep where I meet Koveras and snare Rieltar. Then I escape into the catacombs, grab two more tomes and snare a group of doppelgangers. Prat and gang get more snares but require one backstab each.

32x3= 62 doesn't sound right of course...
We'd need to know more to determine whether 62 as a final total makes sense. Bracers? Unarmed opponent? Etc.
Against an unarmed opponent with the Dagger +2 and a x3 modifier you could roll 4 on the dagger yielding, (4+2+4)x3= 30. A Critical would get you 60. And of course, this doesn't include other possible bonuses.
Btw. Alora recently landed a backstab of 104 with her strength of 8. Here's a shot of a similar stab against an armed opponent. (6+3+2)x4= 44, 44x2=88. Unarmed would add the missing 16.

Best,
A.

Alora has returned to Candlekeep. She didn't do much in the city other than buy potions. I'll provide a more thorough update soon. In the meantime, here are some shots from the Davaeorn fight.
As Davaeorn's pre-buffs fired, Alora got in position to backstab Battle Horror 1. She landed, bringing him down to Near Death.

Battle Horror 1 was finished from a far using Arrows of Ice. The Missle Damage was resisted, but the Cold damage was not.

Battle Horror 2 caught a pair of Backstabs. Alora's Oil of Speed+Boots of Speed allowed her to swop in and return to the Shadows at will.

Davaeorn's fate was similar to that of his horrific protectors...

Best,
A.
Btw. I happened to stumble upon the "Which Baldur's Gate Character Are You?" quiz recently. Apparently I'm Skie...

Alora has successfully navigated the Catacombs and has returned to Baldur's Gate. This is the part that worries me...
Best,
A.
Btw. It looks like Alora isn't going to buy the Shadow Armor Gate70. She's going to go sans armor in the endgame actually: magical armor won't let her wear the Cloak of Protection + 2 and non-Magical Armor is too heavy for her. She'll be using Potions of Defense and/or the Shield Armor to cover her base AC. Her final AC will be better this way and she'll save some weight.
