Same to you. I was just getting ready for another update with Rab at reputation 20 when he snuffed it - tripped over a rock and got hit by the guardian at the archaeological dig.Gate70 wrote...
I had prepped my last screenshot before seeing your comment. Spooky.

He had 36 maximum HP and perhaps he might have survived if he had been at that. However, he had been hit by lightning just before that for 50% damage (ignoring the lightning protection robe he had on). As I thought Rab was going straight back to Nashkel I had only used his Bhaal healing power and not topped up with potions - another false economy

What is in store for the two of you next then, if I may ask?
Things go quite well for Aximand and his ragtag band of evil adventurers! After resting up in at the Friendly Arm, they returned to the mines and put an end to the evil that befouled those halls!
They slew Ogre-Mages, another Mage and hordes of Guards and Hobgobblers - Aximand using his Horror spell to great effect yet again!

Before encountering the Ogre-Mage, Raqulis had anouther encounter with the Surge(!) when she attempted an Improved Invisibility spell - but luckily escaped with her life, though she mentioned that she was quite dizzy and didn't do much in the fight.

The party ventured deeper, and fought some mean Guards as well as disarming traps(I sure am glad I did, there's no telling what foul spells would have been cast if I didn't!) - before going face to face against Davaeorn - a powerful Mage! Seeking to redeem herself for her Surges, Raqulis fought the Mage head on by herself, and he proved to be nothing compared to her now very powerful spells!(And earning herself one heck of a robe afterwards!) The group accepted her appology and Aximand finished the Mage off with his Short Bow. After the Party had flooded the mines(allowing the slaves to escape, Aximand has no taste for slavery after all), the party headed to Baldurs Gate!

There's no telling what foul evil and goody-two-shoes the party might encounter in this grandest of cities! (I haven't been here since I was a kid, and I can't wait to explore the city!) But let's hope they can free the City from their troubles, and gain the fame and glory they deserve!

The party at it's current state:
Aximand, Fighter Level 7 with AC -3 & 97 HP
Eamon, Fighter/Cleric Level 6/6 with AC -6 & 42 HP
Yarath, Bounty Hunter Level 8 with AC 0 & 51 HP
Raqulis Septera, Wild Mage Level 7 with AC 0 & 27 HP

Yep, Gorion is dead. I help Marl, Firebead and Brage but something stops me from using his sword. Instead I buy a flaky sword in Nashkel and kill a belted ogre. Then I get a better sword from Arghain.

I pick up Melicamp fails the transformation back, kill some ogres for Bjornin, remove Gnarl and Hairtooth from a bridge, rescue a tree from Caldo and Krumm, retrieve a drowned cat for Drienne and sell four winter wolf pelts in Nashkel.

You want evidence. Fine. Send us your measurements and will do a little experiment.
We'll get you kitted out and then send you out on the town. Mind you, this is Plate Mail that goes from sleeve to shoulder and then from collar to butt-cheek. It then leaves the lower buttocks and thighs exposed before meeting up with a matching pair of boots just above the knee. And it's all in puke green. A horned helmet completes the ensemble.
Once we've got you all tricked up like that Gate70, we can send you out to nightclubs, job fairs and such. We'll see how it works out for you...
Edit: Actually scratch that. I've changed my mind. It would be pretty rockin' to go to a nightclub and see a guy decked out in Ankheg Plate. That would be pretty darn cool....

I must say, it has been quite the ride for Aximand and his group today! I must say, I am amazed at how well the group has handled the challenges they met, and they have made me VERY proud today!
After entering Baldurs Gate for the first time, the group did many a quest - slaying Mages, their very FIRST Basilisk(a GREATER one at that!) and cleared through the city in such a fashion, people turned their heads where ever the group went. Word spread swiftly through the city, how none where able to stand in the groups way. They braved a Wizards tower, fought Ogre-Mages in sewers - won a bar brawl(though unfortunatley Gorpel Hind fell during the battle, after sharing experiences with the hearty group).
Having done some work for the local thieves, they where betrayed but swiftly put them down in a battle of epic proportions!

After the fight, Yarath was in a good mood - seeing as there where now fewer thieves in the City, making his job both better and more profitable!
Then they decided to do some dirty work for Scar, entering the Iron Throne's headquarters and slaying a large group of lesser evildoers in battle. Again, Aximand proved his worth with yet another Horror spell! Magnificent, as they cut down their competition flawlessly, the group cheered for Aximand all the while!

Feeling quite powerful by now, the group eventually found themselves back in a city they had not visited in 119 days - t'was a nice visit, though ended up in bloodshed. Yarath used his now quite potent skill in trapfinding and the group emerged victorius, heading back to Baldurs Gate to take back the name they had made for themselves by now!
They first destroyed a new flame of Sarevok - finding some documents the group found quite interesting to read, then they dealt with a couple of assassins, even though Raqulis had much more fun killing courtesans and harlots in the battle. Oh that Raqulis...!

They then ended Sarevok's plots in the city, and chased after the villain - into some kind of dungeon the group spent quite some time in. Luckily, after being entangled by Raqulis's Surge, Yarath finally got the Improved Invisibility spell he had asked for, and cleared most of the traps and found the exit - t'was time to end this, once and for all!
Soon the group found themselves in one of their hardest battles so far. The enemy wanted to win, perhaps almost as much as Aximand and his group - but with enough determination, they emerged victorius!(though very very beaten, bloody and tired!)

The party then defeated a woman they had previously assisted in the city, and began preparing for the final battle.(That's when I realized I had never been here before - I have played this game so many times as a kid, yet never ended it - and seeing as how Sarevok had almost destroyed Eamon in the previous encounter - I did not feel too good about this.)
They entered, springing traps left and right - as well as having to fight of Horrors as Sarevok and his group came down upon them with such fury, Aximand and the others fought with every spell and arrow they had! The battle seemed to last for days, and then eventually - Eamon fell to a vicious trap...

Luckily, he had only been wounded - and with a some help from Raqulis wand of Monster Summoning, they managed to screen off Sarevok long enough - and Raqulis shattered the foul knight's head with a well placed Magic Missile! They had done it. They had fought the foulest of creatures this side of Faerun, and emerged victorious!

The next days will surely be spent in some tavern, with Yarath singing songs of the group's bravery and skill in battle! T'is a glorious day indeed!
(Many thanks to all that followed their journey so far, it has been great fun, and I have finally beat a game that has been with me for so many years. And on CORE none the less, it truly makes me proud, as I am usually playing on easy with tons of reloads! - Neither I nor the group can WAIT to find their way to Amn and deal with what monsters might encounter them there! This time though, the group is FULL PLATE, AND PACKING STEEL!)

Most of the time the lag has made it difficult to play my normal game of moving and shooting - it's necessary to keep moving whether or not the opposition appears to be chasing as their real position is unlikely to be where they're shown on the screen. Fortunately this is less of an issue for everyone's favourite cavalier and I can normally sit back and watch him hack through the bad guys!

The group has been transfered to Amn, but I do believe I shall allow them som rest for a little time being. Before I pick them up yet again, there are still some things I want to try out with Baldurs Gate & ToSC; as well as braving Ulgoth's Beard and other places I did not venture to. Therefor, I have created a Wild Mage(who got one heck of a roll!) - and we shall see how he fares in this hostile world! If(or when!) he falls, I will pick back up on Aximand and his group!

May the Lady Luck bless Aevorn(and his Ferret familiar!) on his travels!

@Gate70: good luck. Halfling kensai sounds interesting.
Update on human diviner Morveduin:
Morveduin explored Gnoll Fortress. He was attacked by two greedy Ogrillons at the bridge and one of them dropped Gauntlets of Dexterity, which improved Morveduin’s AC significantly.
In the area just south of Lighthouse, Morveduin helped some archeologists; he took statue of Kozah and killed Doomsayer using salvos of Magic Missiles.

In the same area, he found Brage and took him to temple of Helm in Nashkel.
In the Lighthouse area, Morveduin entered invisible old pirate cave and obtained Manual of Bodily Health.

In the area south of Durlag’s Tower, Morveduin entered tomb with three Ghasts. He drank Potion of Free Action, cast Mirror Image and killed them using Wand of Lightning and Magic Missiles. In one of the caskets, he found Wand of Monster Summoning.
Next, Morveduin cleared basilisk area. Luckily, one of basilisks dropped Potion of Invisibility. Mutamin was defeated using Invisibility and Wand of Monster Summoning.
Morveduin decided it is time to investigate Nashkel mines. He found Mulahey and killed him.

Nimbul in Nashkel and Tranzig in Beregost suffered the same fate.
On behalf of Mayor of Beregost, Morveduin hunted and killed mad priest Bassilus. Thanks to the reward, he finally accumulated enough gold to purchase Robe of Neutral Archmagi.
Morveduin is currently heading to bandit camp. He is level 8 Diviner with 42HP.
Note: this is the first time I've ever used spell Skulltrap with a mage. I am positively surprised how effective it is!

As for Aevorn - he managed to get himself to level 2! He had done quite a few quests by then, and even managed to take down Karlat(after hasting him with a Surged Magic Missile(!), and with some unexpected help from Silke!) - and felt rather good about himself in doing so.

He then managed to escape a rather large group of evildoers, on his way towards the Belted Ogre.

As well as fleeing an Random Encounter with 6 skeletons!
He then made his way towards the Belted Ogre, but was ambushed by a group of Xvartz. He managed to take down most of them, and proceeded to cast blind on the last remaining one. As he was casting his Vampiric Touch though, the Xvartz struck him with enough force to send him reeling into the afterlife. Aevorn - you will be missed!

Seeing as how early he fell, I will attempt some other character instead then - before picking up Aximand's group!

I haven't really "fought" SCS Bassilus many times actually. In a number of games, I just left him be. And in others, my characters rolled in with a big enough item charge budget to trivialize him.
I've been loathe to fight him with minimal supplies because I figured he'd end up being a potion chugging, summon spamming bastard. Nonetheless, Alessandra fought him today on the cheap. And what did he turn out to be? A potion chugging, summon spamming bastard...
Fortunately, while Alessandra packed light, she did pack a rod and that was all she needed in the end. It's hard not to love Range 2, Speed Factor 0 Weapons.
Before the Bassilus fight, just a couple footnotes...
"And the Crazy-Stupid Award for Ill-Advised Ambushes goes to..."

Tranzig offered up some trouble, he got more than he could give.

Drakar failed his save against Alessandra's opening Dart of Stunning. Never saw his buds.
Alessandra has been casting Detect Evil all over the place just for kicks. Dread Wolves are Evil. Dire Wolves are not. Who would have thought?

Aside from Caldo and these pups, surprisingly little has glown red.
Ok. Bassilus time. Alessandra opened with an arrow. Bassilus buffed the fam.

Alessandra was expecting either Flame Strike or Rigid Thinking out of Bassilus in Round 1. The Greenstone Amulet and a Potion of Firebreath covered both of those potential threats. (NW: Alessandra succeeded in disrupting, but based on the incantation he was going Flame Strike).
Once round 1 ended, he stared spamming summons and -irritatingly- disruption didn't work. He went with Animals first (including some speedy bears).

Then Skeletons.

Alessandra pulled back to thin out her exposure but, unsurprisingly ended up drawing a bunch of other blokes into the fray in the process. It wasn't difficult to work through this stuff though since none could match Alessandra's combination of reach and speed.

Found Bassilus again. He started summoning Skeletons immediately and surrounded Alessandra. He was very pleased with himself untill he realized that she was the one with the Martial Staff and he was the one with Ashideena...Right.

Bassiluss's clever setup ended up with him running away Sanctuaried. Alessandra had fun bopping Skeletons that got in the wat while hunting him down. The Undead Hunter bonuses were skifty in this fight.

Kudos to Bassilus for running over to the ranged skeletons while Sanctuaried. It wasn't enough in the end though.

Fin.
Bandit Camp will be next.
Best,
A.

Which means Morti still lives.
He always travels with his invis potion at the ready for tricky vaylaid's, but so far only one with bowmen.. though this one didn't make me feel super good either:

Stuff like this is just worth a /headdesk in no-reloads.. my xp!

I was contemplating turning Imoen into a mage but I would lose the sense of security she gives as a scout and other usefull things.. so I will likely keep her thief.

When I hit level 3 in cleric I went to pickup the monster summoning wand. I have really felt my 9 str be a problem often in cases such as this.. one heavy items such as the chain mail in the ghoul cave is enough to make him unable to move hehe

I have just reached the bandit camp after clearing parts of the forest with some wand of monster summoning and sleep usage. Double checking what I will meet in the tent before I peek in.
Level 6/5 (Cleric/Mage) and Imoen as level 7 thief.

Great minds think alike. So do foolish ones.
For whatever reason, I have decided to join the ranks of those who have gotten a Wild Mage killed. Alessandra will be on sabattical untill the task is complete. Here's my death destined starlet.

While I fairly certain death is a matter of when rather than if, I'm curious to see how far she can get.
The problem with a Wild Mage, or course, is that casting is suicide. There does, however, seem to be a simple solution: don't cast spells- at least not untill you have pre-buff or item based counters to the possible consequences of casting.
Alai has cast one spell so far. Find Familiar. She succeded.
I'm not sure when she'll cast a spell again, but I can assure you that it won't be anytime soon...
Anyhoo. I'll post on Alai if and when things get interesting.

Glad to see Morti is still alive and kicking, I wish the best for him on his journey - he seems to be doing quite well!(much better than what Aevorn, to say the least!)
@Alesia
Haha, it truly is great to see you're going down this path to insanity! Raqulis made it through to Amn not even thinking about learning the Chaos Shield, and all though things did get interesting every once in a while, it all turned out quite well. Aevorn on the other hand hasted Karlat, threw a fear instead of a horror spell and almost killed himself when using his Bhaalspawn Cure Light Wounds. T'is glorious insanity is what it is, and I wouldn't have it any other way!
Right now, I'm trying a party similar to Aximand & Yarath, though quite different indeed!
Meet Horus, the Chaotic Neutral Invoker!

And seeing as Horus is not quite as foolish as Aevorn was, he purchased the assistance of a local Swashbuckler for hire, Abbadon - the Lawful Neutral Human charmer & swordsman extraordinaire!

With the clever use of his fantastic pet, a scroll of sleep(and a horror spell or two!);

they have taken down an assassin at the Friendly Arm Inn, killed a very strange Ogre for his belts, washed some pantaloons, killed some spiders and found Miriam's husband. With 17 HP each, I truly hope Lady Luck as a keen eye for them both!
