Have tried again with a strength of 25 due to a potion. Got a critical hit of 44, followed that with smite evil, then used firebreath and continued to attack. I managed to kill him before he regenerated. However it was touch and go. It's as well that I had duplicates of the potions that I used. (Other than the strength potion that I have just used to kill him.) I can well believe that people soloing get trapped on the island. What do you do if that happens?
I would appreciate further info on the regen multiplication bug, to avoid it in the future.

Some of you may be wondering about the pointless kit as well as the lack of a custom portrait. This is actually a replica of the first BG character I ever created. And yes: I'd didn't have any idea what I was doing.
Alice's stay in wonderland wasn't very long. She started in BGII and unlike her companions, survived the opening dungeon. However, upon reaching the Promenade, she attempted to steal a stack of +1 Bullets and was caught. She was then slaughtered by the Amnish Guard. That was the end. I chose not to reload and instead started another character.
I suspect that Alice reborn will benefit from my experience over the years. In fact, I expect her to get quite far. How far, we'll just have to see.
Best,
A.
Btw. Mirroring the original Alice, this version has proficiencies in Axes and Darts.

This seems like a really interesting idea. I actually do remember my first character but only vaguely. I know he was a paladin, and he spent his time wandering around and trying to do the opening quests like finding the sword. I really had no idea what I was doing. I was ready to get into the action though, but that's really all I remember. Been so long, but the memory of that first glimpse of Baldur's Gate has stuck with me. Good luck with your run! I might join you later on, but with a randomized paladin since I probably didn't know much about stats since I didn't read the manual...so it would make sense.Alesia_BH wrote...

I actually think Skalds look fairly interesting, and I've been tempted to play one but haven't gotten around to it. I probably would have favoured more Strength over Cha, Int and that 17th point of Con though (though I don't know what the minimums are and if you use Find Familiar it might be nice to have a spare point of Con).

@V. She's actually proving to be pretty nasty in early BG1. With her kit bonus and her Skald song running, she gets +3 to hit and damage. That makes her a great Dart tosser. She'll be pretty brutal later as well using bows and wands.
@The Fred. When I first built Alice, I had a Nordic warrior in mind hence the high con and the Axe. It actually does serve a practical purpose though now since, like almost all of my characters, she'll be using The Claw. The Charisma minimum is 15.
As for Strength, none of my characters have been very strong. I try to match their stats with their portraits and most don't look that beefy. This has very few practical game play implications since it's easy enough to buff your strength.

For the curious, she went Lion's Way->High Hedge->Beregost. She reached Level 2 killing the Spiders and 3 against the Ogrillions. She then sold Miranne's ring, bought some Invisibility scrolls, and went to the FAI via High Hedge and the Northern half of the Coastway (she picked up the Girdle of Piercing en route). She's now back in Beregost with the Wand of Sleep, a 4th level and a reasonably good spell book setup (Blindness, Chill Touch, Shield, Invisibility, Mirror Image). She hasn't taken any damage yet. I'll post more on her early adventures later.

Since we talked about safety in the early going recently, I thought I'd share Alice's early development.
After rendezvousing with Imoen and declining her company, Alice went South to High Hedge and then travelled to Beregost along the top of the map. She then assuaged Marl's anguish before taking on the Spiders.

That got her to Level 2.

Level 3 came soon after against the Ogrillions. Note the stellar damage from an unenchanted Dart. Skalds are actually really good in early BG.

Her hitpoint roll was less fortuitous this time: a 3 as opposed to the earlier 8. Nonetheless, with 19 hitpoints and Invisibility scrolls, she was ready to brave the journey North.
Level 4 came on her return to High Hedge with the aid of a newly purchased wand.

Happily, she rolled another 8. Now with 27 Hitpoints, Shield, Mirror Image, Invisibility, and the Wand of Sleep, Alice is ready to head south to Nashkel.

A.

I just had a little pre-bedtime session with Alice. She's now at Level 6. The Greenstone Amulet and Cloak of Displacement are her next objectives.
With Mirror Image, Shield, Chill Touch, and enough hitpoints to withstand the odd Critical, I decided to let Alice get a little early melee in against Karlat. That worked out nicely.

Then South. She got her first ambush en route. It wasn't worth breaking invisibility to kill the Gibberlings.

Invisibility got her past the range foes.

After arriving in Nashkel, she paid a visit to the carnival to do some shopping (Shield Amulet, Necklace of Missles and Protection from Petrification) before taking down the Basilisks.

She'll need to pick up more gold before heading to The Beard, but she is ready for the journey otherwise.

Best,
A.

At the first bend you can just keep walking straight down in between the two peaks and keep hugging the right side of the map. I've never encountered anything when going that way. (I think I learned this trick from a speed run of all things.)

So... “How did an elf end up in bed (figuratively speaking ) with an evil dwarf cleric?”... Well I’m glad you asked. It all started 12 years ago when a dwarf ironclad got trapped in a sudden storm and beached near the aptly named Shipwreck's Coast. This particular ship was also carrying Prince Block’Hammer the heir apparent (recently dispossessed)... desperate to save their leader the dwarfs decided to raid the southern coastline looking for slaves/ supplies in order to fix their stricken vessel. Unfortunately for them the defenders of Candle Keep proved themselves to be more than a match for the frantic dwarfs & the prince was eventually forced to parlay... unwilling to accept another humiliating setback could be his fault the prince decided to blame his lead cleric for not praying hard enough to appease the Water-Queen and ensure victory therefore he ordered that in exchange for help fixing his ship the cleric Do’dad ThunderHammer (who was badly injured in the last battle anyway) would be handed over to the defenders as a slave for the next ten years! For their part the leaders of Candle Keep were wise enough to see that this solution was the best way to end the conflict and accepted his oath of service in good faith... Gorion suggested he be assigned as a bodyguard to his ward Ormaline so as not to allow her to become distressed during her adolescent years.
Modifications;
1. I've decided that Ormaline will get a moonblade but its enchantments are going to be defensive in nature... it’s almost as if Gorion feared what could happen if she ever allowed herself to enter combat.
Edit; Her sword is ready... her starting spells are 'Find Familiar' & 'Identify'
p.s. for anyone trying to make one of these a sorcerer is a mage as far as the game engine is concerned.
2. Jaheira is a ranger/ cleric for this run & Imoen will be a swashbuckler.

I had another little session with Alice this morning. Her basic objective was to prepare for the mines. She's now ready.
Took care of Greywolf first. Alice's standard battle strategy is to pre-buff with Shield and her Battlesong. She then uses Blindness or Sleep depending on her foes and finishes with some combination of Darts or Mirror Image->Chill Touch. The battle song is activated between attacks. As you can see from this roll, Greywolf had little hope.

The Mountain Bear and the bridge Ogrilions received the same treatment. So far, Alice has suffered 2 hitpoints worth of damage in her adventure.

Then it was North to The Beard under Invisibility. She'll take on Mulahey in her next session.

A.

@Serg BlackStrider thanks!

I ran into Imoen just after Gorion got himself killed & it seems the poor girl can’t make up her mind about witch type of magical career to pursue next despite only having 1 level of her first choice... I swear I’ll never understand why humans always want things to change? I tried to avoid contact with any one until reaching FAI but as it turned out a mage assassin was waiting for me there as well... Do’dad doesn’t fit in at the family picnics but I have to admit that having a dwarf bodyguard that makes lightning shoot from his fingers sure does come in handy sometimes.
Once in the inn itself I meet up with Jaheira and allowed her to take charge of the group because she has the best social skills between us... and if that’s not a scary thought then I don’t know what is.

I was pleased that I didn't have to kill all the werewolves on the island. I don't know if the difference is due to SCS or to her being a Paladin, but it was a nice touch whoever thought of it.

Understood. I'm not sure I can deliver though. Alessandra was a special case. As soon as I saw her portrait, I associated her with L7 for some reason and I just lucked out that the music fit so well. Some of those songs were eerily perfect.
Since reading your comment though, I've been checking out some folk/pagan metal with female vocals. This is the most promising lead I've found so far. I'm thinking about changing Alice's name to Arkona actually...
Anyhoo. Alice has defeated Mulahey and Tranzig. She'll head to the bandit camp soon. I try to provide a full update soon.

Well, we try to perform careful approach so headed to Nashkel via the safe root, picked free Ankhed armor, endured Noober and visit Carnival for Shield Amulet. The Amazing Oopah saved vs three Blindness in a row but failed the 4th one ane fell soon after. We returned to Beregost and killed Spiders in Landrin home (Grim Face hit level 2) then made brief visit to High Hedge (for Scroll of Resist Fear). With all that cool stuff we headed to the FAI were we met our first SCS mage fight. We buffed with Shield and Resist Fear (from our non-SCS experience era) and Imoen approached. Tarnesh began pre-buffed with Armor and Mirror Image followed with Sleep. Grim Face was out of area effect but got PW:Sleep next round. Luckily nearby guard intervened but Tarnesh ignored him and continued smashing Imoen with his stuff. When only one single point of Imoen's health remained Grim Face woke up and switch Tarnesh's attention on himself. Tarnesh was Blinded and guard finished him:

(Well, what I must to say - that was an interesting experience so far. Quite interesting!)
The Duo entered the Inn, talked with Landrin who was quite happy that her home is free of spiders (Imoen hit level 3) and than Imoen tried to loot some chests. Was caught in the process, guards summoned, Imoen tried to bribe them but failed and they went hostile. And so was Landrin, who cast Horror and than killed Imoen... After her rising from the dead in nearby Temple and some running between floors to evade Landrin and guards to pick Imoen's gear (primary Shield Amulet) we joined Jaheira and Khalid and now the core of the crew is formed.
Now it is time for some hunting!
to be continued...

@Alesia
I like Arkona's creative work as well as Slavic pagan culture in general. And knowing that Alice/Arcona will perform from that standpoint pleases we even more! Keep rocking!

As mentioned, Alice has defeated Mulahey and tranzig and will head to the Bandit Camp in her next session. I'll cover her recent fights quickly here.
Alice unseated Mulahey from the mines quickly and efficiently. First, she stealthed past the Kobolds- healing herself of trap damage when needed.

Then, she blasted Mulahey's minions before finishinh him with Mirror Image->Chill Touch followed by Darts. Shield, Greenstone and Potion of Freedom covered the defensive end.

Upon exiting the mines, she cleared the undead area before stopping by High Hedge to pick up a Minor Spell Deflection scroll. She met Lamahla there.

Tranzig boasted of being a Mage. But soon after, he began to realize that isn't necessarily a good thing in a world with a Greenstone Amulet and Minor Spell Deflection.
I'll provide more detailed coverage of the Bandit Camp though the strategy there will likely seem familiar to those who have followed my other runs.
