Sorry for your losses.

I'll briefly summarize how each of the previous Gauntlet members ended:

The F/C Kaela was killed by the party in the Iron Throne building. She was stunned by the mage and then it all fell apart.

The Bard Rachel was killed because she failed to protect the Dukes in the Ducal Palace.

The Fighter Baylen was slain by Tamoko in the Hidden City.

The F/I Renalty was killed by ghasts/ghouls in a foolish attempt to get the strength tome.

The F/M Jennifer was killed by Slythe when Kristen dispelled her buffs.

I'm trying to get back but felt my feet dragging me ATM. A smaller gauntlet this time, with a F/T, F/M/C, and trying yet again with a F/M. Tough starting over, even though it isn't like I'm not use to this already.

Condolances, Grond.

Why do people delay so long before attempting the mines (at least with non-melee characters)?  Maybe I've just been lucky, but so far Mulahey hasn't ever been a significant challenge.

(Granted, I'm stalling with my C/M before attempting the mines, but that's mostly because a C/M is slightly more dangerous than a diseased gibberling with a melee or ranged weapon.  I pretty much have to Blind or Sleep my opponents because I can't hit them otherwise.)

Just reached Cleric 3/Mage 3.  Keeping a log for details if I can reach Cleric 5.  I've used Sanctuary more in this single game than I have in every other game I've played.  Combined.  Ever.

I usually delay Nashkel Mines until my front-liners have decent AC. Also, if no thieves in my group (such as now), I also delay to give some of my characters more HP so they can eat some traps.

Nevertheless, for a group, I agree Mulahey isn't much of a threat. However, for solo, his hold person can be devastating. A melee almost has to get the greenstone amulet to prevent it (or a very expensive magic blocking potion) first, but that means trying to make it through Ankheg country, which could be dicey at level 1 or 2.

SCS also increases the difficulty of the mines as well, including throwing in some kobold casters.

Consolations shadow_leech and Grond0 for your recent failed runs. It's sad that one of your (Shadow_Leech)  runs ended at Tamoko, you were so close -- by the way did you know you can avoid fighting her altogether. She will talk to you at the Sorcerous Sundries, but if you say you are interested but DON'T talk to her at the Flaming Fist HQ entrance, she will just stay at that entrance and not bother you in the Undercity.

Hi everyone.  Here's my first entry over here.  I'll see how long I can go before I end up over on my own Minimal Reload Challenge.  So far, so good.  Tarnesh didn't kill me.  Hopefully, I can string a few successful gaming sessions together before I have to bow out.  I'll be playing awhile as I always do all the sidequests and finish everything, not just the main story .

Thanks to Gate70 for helping me post my first screen shot!!!

Anyway, here's my first entry.  His name is Seth, named after my son, who, in turn is named after Adam and Eve's third son.

Candlekeep (Chapter 1)

General: Yesterday everything changed. Suddenly Gorion told me to pack and be ready to leave Candlekeep as soon as possible. I didn't even have a chance to say goodbye to most the monks that I'd spent nearly 20 years with. I finished up quickly picking up a few last Gold Pieces (GP) for some last minute errands. Even so, I could only afford Studded Leather Armor. Darn, before this iron crisis I was eyeing a new set of Splint Mail.

At any rate I packed everything I needed including my new Two-Handed Sword and Flail and met Gorion at the steps of the keep.  We headed immediately for the gate and out across country. As we did so, night fell.  Shorlty afterward we were ambushed and Gorion was killed defending me against a huge black armored demon-knight thing, two ogres and what I guess was a female acolyte of some kind. He shouted at me to run which, to my shame, I did.

The next morning I awoke exhausted and realized it wasn't a dream. Just then, Imoen caught up to me. Seems she'd been following us a ways back. Too be honest, I was really glad to have her along. She's been working hard on her Thieving/Swashbuckling and short bow skills but, more than that, her company is priceless.  We gathered Gorion's belongings and then headed east, keeping to the road, while trying to get to the Friendly Arm Inn (FAI) which is where Gorion told me to go should we become separated. We made the trip in a few hours but had to battle Gibberlings galore to get there. We also met a few folks along the road.

---  Key Event Occurs Here ---

We finally made our way into the FAI where we met Bessie who was able to point me to Khalid and Jaheira. She said they'd been waitin' for me. I never knew it could be so nice to meet two people I'd never heard of until that same day.

Key Event:  Just as we got to the FAI, Imoen handed me a Potion of Speed (PoS). Good thing too, because as we headed up the steps we were attacked by a Mage/Assassin. I later found out his name was Tarnesh.

When I saw he was hostile, I gulped the PoS and made a bee-line for him, sword in hand. I wanted to lay steel on target before he got off a spell. From the bottom of the stairs, Imoen popped him with a Magic Missile (MM) from a Wand of Magic Missiles (WoMM) that  she was packin'. I need to remember to give her a kiss because that missile made the difference.

Even so he was eventually able to get off a Sleep Spell and took her out of the fight after only one missile. Meanwhile, I was desperately trying to land a blow on the 'right Tarnesh' because somewhere in there he managed to get a 'Mirror Image' Spell cast on himself too. Finally, after what seemed an eternity and just before he was able to get off another spell, I landed a blow across his shoulder which severed him across the torso. He was dead instantly.

Nice to see you on this thread CKT - hope you stay a while!

I've started a new PC.  Raven has begun his life as a kensai and will stay that way in BG1.  If he gets to BG2 I haven't decided whether to dual him, but his stats have been designed to leave all possible options open.

Thus far he has moved on quite quickly - getting up to level 5 before spending all his accumulated wealth on the green amulet.  With that as back-up (not actually used yet) he cleared the Nashkel mines and has just had his hardest fight to date with Nimbul - he scored several critical hits (nasty for a kensai) with MMMs.  Fortunately Raven has been quite exceptionally lucky with his HPs to date (I have checked I hadn't somehow altered the game difficulty!) and was never in danger - here's his current character record.

Yes that wasn't a very smart move on my part. I had never done the Tamoko thing before so I wanted to see what was up, and in retrospect, if I had not played BG2 a million times over, what she had to say would have been very interesting. Or maybe I have done the Tamoko thing before but I had never been interested in what she was saying , but apparently now I was. But I learned my lesson. Unfortunately the characters that came after Baylen did not make it that far.

Blinded and killed Maneira (last Amazon)
Returned Joseph's ring to his family

The least bloodthirsty character I've ever played.  To my surprise, Sanctuary is actually a good spell.  So far, Cast is completely unable to kill things quickly, and Blindness has been a required staple of his repertoire.  It's hoped that the skeletons will assist in making Cast more combat capable.

A side affect of this has been that nearly 50% of his XP so far has been from quests, not combat.  For me, that is very unusual.

1) The mines are full of kobold archers who can one-shot archers. Better for it to be extra-safe rather than just doable.
2) At a higher level you can do the whole lot in one run without needing to leave or rest too much.
3) The mines suck. I put them off as long as possibly because I just don't like them.
4) SCS makes them harder, so you need a bit more firepower.
5) SCS more crucially also moves assassins to attack you shortly after the mines. You can rush through the mines just fine but then get killed by the assassins.

Raven has completed most of his work and just arrived at Baldur's Gate.  He spent a fair time wandering round doing nearly all the main encounters - just going back to civilisation to stock up on throwing daggers or when the need for identification became pressing.
Image IPB

The nearest escape he had was when a sirene in jelly form landed an unexpectedly vicious critical for 31 HPs - bringing him down to single figures.  However, he learnt the lesson from that and was still comfortably off after a critical from Icharyd Image IPB (as he had a potion of insulation up as well as boots of grounding he ran around for a while afterwards soaking up some free healing from Icharyd's call lightning).  Underground he used potion buffs for the first time to kill the Ulcaster wolf quickly before it summoned too many helpers Image IPB

At the bandit camp his first foray ended in retreat when he was attacked by a hasted Taugouz at the same time as watching for Venkt's spells and a host of bandit arrows.  On his return Venkt was much more exposed and paid the price Image IPB.  The clean-up job on the bandits was then pretty straightforward, although Raven still used up more than 300 throwing daggers in the process.

For some insane reason I decided not to obtain the ring of free action for the Cloakwood, which meant that Spiders Bane was essential to survive the giant spider ambushes.  It's not easy to get this as there are several giant spiders in the way.  However, I've done this a few times with wizard slayers and the risk can be made minimal by splitting the opponents' forces to try and make sure that only 1 spider attacks at once.  With protection from poison up there's no danger of a single spider killing a character with decent HPs even if its web attack is successful.  This went OK - the only worrying moment was actually earlier on when Raven was triggering the various traps; at one point a phase spider teleported in while he was held and chewed him up a bit before he got free.

Outside the mines Raven used the boots of speed to split up the party and then successfully took each of them on in single combat.  Working down to the bottom he had to wade through lots of guards bodies after failing to rest several times (eventually giving up and just relying on his potion supply to heal up).  Dodged up and down the stairs to get rid of most of Daveorn's spells and then finished him off with throwing daggers Image IPB.  Daveorn had actually just annoyed the battle horror with a sunfire, but Raven saved him from that horror (not that Daveorn seemed very grateful).

Raven got his 8th (and last in BG1) level at the bandit camp.  At 19 constitution he ended up with 106 HPs - the last few levels not being quite up to his previous standard, but still good enough to average over 8 on his dice throws.  He's actually using the Claw of Kazgoroth to provide a bit more protection against spells so the HPs he's walking around with are 'only' 90.

Geez.  A quick estimate (based on buying size for bullets and a rough memory of when I've bought them) leads me to believe that I've used 436 bullets for Cast so far.  In total, basically doing everything essential and some extras leading up to the bandit camp (but not including the bandit camp).

SCS must add enemies, if you're using that many daggers.  I guarantee Raven hits more frequently (and for more damage) than Cast's pitiful attempts.

I was thinking about a solo Axe-thrower, but if it requires those kinds of numbers, there's no way I'd have enough weight capacity for the axes needed for the camp alone.

SCS does indeed add more enemies, but also gives the bandits far more HPs than standard issue ones, which means each bandit averaged about 5 hits to kill (which is the main reason for requiring so many daggers). Raven has 4 attacks per round with a THAC0 of 6 and does 8-11 damage with throwing daggers, so it wouldn't take him long to kill a bandit in a straight fight, but it was rare that he had the chance to attack constantly. Most of the time he was moving and sniping at extreme range to avoid large gangs of bandits attacking him at once.

Axes provide a strength bonus to damage so you would potentially need fewer of them. You could indulge in a bag of holding if you want to carry lots at once, though I tend not to do that with axes. There's also no reason why you can't do the camp in several bites - picking up extra ammunition when you retreat to heal, refresh spells etc.

Introduction
After much consideration, I have decided to register an account with the Bioware forums solely to enter the No Reload Challenge. I'm a player who has been involved with the Baldur's Gate series since the release of the sequel, Shadows of Amn, and was sort of initiated into the game backwards; I mastered Baldur's Gate II, and then obtained the first Baldur's Gate (with ToSC) to play the original.

Unfortunately I was very disappointed at the way that characters from the vanilla Baldur's Gate interacted with Baldur's Gate II when being imported into a new game. Hit points seemed to be permanently gimped on the transition over, as well as a few other things that annoyed me. That's why I was more than overjoyed when I discovered Baldur's Gate TuTu. This is currently what I am running on my machine, adjusted of course to meet the requirements of the challenge. I have been playing for many years on the Normal setting, so I may have been slightly spoiled in poor preparation to meet the core rules by the letter. My install is as follows:

Baldur's Gate TuTu
Baldur's Gate Tweaks (XP Cap removed)
NPC Romance Mod (Irrelevant; this will be a solo run)

I've always been involved in the Baldur's Gate series and it remains, in my opinion, the greatest video game to have ever been made for any platform. What the boys at Bioware did here is truly art, and I lament the fact that an entire generation has been raised never knowing this amazing piece of role playing genius. But now that you've suffered through my perfectly unwarranted outburst of masturbatory nostalgia, allow me to introduce the character I will be playing for the duration of this no reload challenge (I have no intention of failing the first time, but then, I guess the same could be said of us all).

The Protagonist

Dathorn, Child of Bhaal

For this no reload challenge, I wanted to truly give myself a challenge. First, I wanted to enter into this challenge solo. The experience boost is amazing, but it also serves to demand a sort of self reliance that only heightens the danger. I have hacked my way solo through the game many times with my beloved Cavalier class, as well as a Fighter/Berserker/Monk/Archer. Simply doing this again (the no reload clause notwithstanding) seemed to be a poor showing for anyone who cares to read my posts, so I have decided to play a conjurer.

As far as I know there are no special mods in this game that will allow me special scrolls before I reach Amn, so I will be bereft of things like stone skin. I also do not have the luxury of choosing my spells with each level up. I believe in the long run this provides for an unmatched level of versatility which lends itself well to a solo run, but makes the beginning of the game extremely difficult, and my characters power dictated by the level of lore he manages to get his hands on. This, I feel, is the true experience of playing an adventuring wizard.

I have decided to go Neutral Evil, simply because I am a story ****, and it matches my character. It would have been to a far better benefit to select Lawful Evil because of the Imp familiar (polymorph self, anyone?) but instead I will be making due with a Dust Mephit. I'm not even sure if this familiar will be any use to me, but it is something that I am willing to live with, no doubt the first of many things in this no reload challenge.

Rolling Dathorn's stats were something of a challenge in and of itself, but I managed it. Conjurer is by far my favorite specialized school, because it eliminates divination (an otherwise useless school aside from Identify/True Sight) so I must confess something of a power gaming angle there. Yet conjuration does match my character concept, as you will see below in Dathorn's biography. Of course, given that scrolls are power and sometimes very difficult to acquire (I believe there are only one of certain spells in the entire game) the core rules may come back to bite me when I least expect it when trying to scribe new scrolls. I guess I will simply have to practice my wicked curses and drat in that case, ala Snidely Whiplash.

Character Biography
From an early age Dathorn had always been incredibly bright, possessed of a lust for knowledge that only saw satisfaction at the feet of his foster father Gorion. He proved to be a charming (some would say manipulative) youth who always took advantage of the Great Library whenever he had a spare moment. Though some in Candlekeep thought they knew Dathorn, Gorion knew better. The wise sage watched Dathorn in moments when his ward believed himself alone with his books, and realized that there was a side to him that was being carefully concealed from everyone else.

Though reluctant to initiate him into the ways of magic, Gorion relented in the end, and never before did a master have such a promising pupil. Though Dathorn disagreed with his mentor on certain philosophical matters concerning morals and the applications of magic, he never stopped respecting him. Gorion was a powerful and wise man, and the young magus was determined to learn everything he could. Dathorn quickly grasped a talent for conjuration, in his first years nearly outstripping his mentor's ability to teach him. Though Gorion never said, he was always unnerved at how his ward seemed to relish the thought of summoning and controlling other sentient creatures.

Though his true heritage had always remained a mystery, Dathorn knew of his elf blood, and hungrily researched the history of what he came to consider 'his people'. Yet he was not and never would be a true elf, something that caused Dathorn no small amount of frustration. As if to compensate, the young magus mastered several dialects of the elven language and became fond of peppering his speech with the occasional word of Sindarin or Sylvan. As Dathorn reached the limit of his studies in Candlekeep, his thirst for power and knowledge began to birth new fantasies of someday seeking out the elves and their storied magical prowess.

Yet fantasy found opportunity on the day Gorion came to Dathorn with a small bag of coins and hurried instructions to prepare himself for departure. Believing this to be the beginning of what could only be his true lesson, Dathorn hurried to face an uncertain future, somehow certain that events of great significance were on the horizon.

If you do want BG2 spells you could use BGT rather than Tutu.  This makes BG1 part of the same game as BG2 so you also don't have to bother with importing characters into BG2.

The dust mephit is actually very handy as a familiar.  Like the other evil familiars it regenerates quickly, which is nice if you want it to engage in combat.  It has 50% resistance to slashing and piercing, meaning it's probably the safest of all familiars to fight against most enemies, despite its poor armour class.  The 100% fire resistance is also handy (your conjuror can pour in fireballs from a distance while the familiar runs enemies around).

Of course, given that scrolls are power and sometimes very difficult to acquire (I believe there are only one of certain spells in the entire game) the core rules may come back to bite me when I least expect it when trying to scribe new scrolls. There are sufficient potions to raise intelligence in the game to get you 100% chance of learning spells a number of times (enough to successfully learn every scroll if you group your attempts to learn together).

One thing that is good about SCS is that a visit to High Hedge will give you a lot of free daggers and that you can also stack them. Image IPB

Thanks for all your helpful tips Grond0! I've read a bunch of your posts on this thread and I really like the way you stick to completing the challenge. I know you mentioned more than once you don't have much experience with Baldurs Gate II, that's my area of expertise if I ever had one. So I'd be happy to return the favor, if you ever have any questions!

Yeah I registered a photobucket account and did the same BBCode as everyone else, and the image does show up when I'm editing my post, but in the post itself the image is replaced with *image removed*.

I did a quick Google search to see if I could resolve the bug; apparently a bunch of other Bioware forum posters have the same problem, but from everything I've seen, a solution doesn't seem to be forthcoming any time soon.

For example:

Just do a quote and check it out. So weird. It works in editing, but not on the actual post.

Right - I remember that coming up before. The picture shows up OK when I quote you - does it show up in your post if you quote your own post? If it does then you could perhaps use that as a roundabout solution.

I wonder whether the problem is due to a conflict with other programs you're running. For instance are you using internet explorer as your browser? If not you could perhaps try that to see if it makes any difference.

Isn't that strange? You can even post a quote of mine and it seems to work fine.

Or I'm just slowly going insane and I'm the only one who sees that *image removed* part of my post where the picture should be.

Update: Hmm. I'm using FireFox, maybe that's part of the problem. Also, I could try quoting myself. One sec...

Edit: Well looks like I'm scuttled. I would really love to get this resolved; odds are it's probably some stupid obscure privacy setting or something. But I'm e-tarded, I wouldn't know where to begin looking.

Edit 2: I played with the privacy setting and set this website on the allow list, see if that works.

Edit 3: Nope, scuttled. I'm not going to put up a bunch of clone posts trying to figure this out myself though, I'll just go elsewhere on the forum if I want to do that. If anyone has any tips, suggestions or solutions of their own that would be awesome.

@Eviscerotica.  I've heard that Firefox (or its plug-ins) can cause problems with forum posts, so I think it would be worth testing another browser.

Raven is now standing in the palace looking suspiciously at a group of nobles.  His activities since arriving in Baldur's Gate have included:

- getting a tome and an improved ring of protection from Ramazith.  He went down quickly, though managed to do a bit of damage with a minor sequencer double acid arrow. Image IPB.

- Marek was triggered to get another tome and I thought Raven might as well kill him as well.  Marek successfully enfeebled Raven, but then wasted the spell by standing next to him! Image IPB

- Also decided to take on the Iron Throne party - partly to get a ring of free action.  Using the stairs Raven successfully separated the opponents and then took them out individually.  Unusually Gardush was the last to fall. Image IPB

- On the way to Candlekeep Raven stopped off at Durlag's Tower to get the tome of wisdom there.  I couldn't remember exactly how the charm trap there was configured, so took no chances and used a potion of clarity for protection.  At Candlekeep avoided almost all fighting and used scroll of magic protection and potion of storm giant strength to loot the tombs before strolling out under a potion of invisibility. Image IPB

- Back in the city I carelessly let a guard talk to Raven turning the area hostile.  The guard followed Raven into Sorcerous Sundries turning the shopkeeper hostile as well.  However, as Raven had already bought everything worthwhile there was no great loss. Image IPB

- On returning to the Iron Throne Raven did some more dodging up and down stairs before eventually losing the golems and went back upstairs to deal with Cythandria.  This was a bit more difficult than it should have been because his missile protection items don't seem to be working properly with each other.  His AC of -5 together with -18 adjustment for missiles should make him very difficult to hit, but Cythandria was managing it pretty easily.  Still the only cost was a few healing potions. Image IPB

- After killing a couple of innocents (reducing his reputation to get the evil alternative for his final Bhaal power) Raven headed for the Undercellar.  The plan was to try and kill Slythe in the first round before he went invisible, but that failed.  As a result Raven had to endure several backstabs (taking 4 of the 8 extra-healing potions acquired in his travels to date) before Slythe ran out of invisibility potions and was quickly finished off. Image IPB
Krystin went invisible herself just before she died and, rather than waste time waiting for her to reappear Raven quickly grabbed a cloak from Quenash and ran to the palace while his buffs were still active.

(Reached Cleric 7)

NOTES:
  • Despite Nimbul making his saving throw vs. spell on Silence, he was no problem at all. He failed the following round to save against Blindness, so after that he couldn't target anyone and Cast stepped back and used the sling until he fell.
  • Tranzig was another matter.  Despite gathering Algernon to assist (take an Acid Arrow and ultimately donate a cloak to Cast post-battle), Cast made a mistake and cast Silence a little too close to himself... and both mages were silenced.  Despite having the Staff +3, Tranzig was actually a more capable at combat, and Cast only carried the day (after Silence wore off and he started pelting spells) by using Sanctuary, followed by both Innate Cure Light Wounds, Draw Upon Holy Might, and Barkskin before attempting to continue combat.  Even buffed, Tranzing was going to win the battle until Cast used (for the first time) two charges from the Wand of Frost to bring an end to the confrontation.
  • I learned after-the-fact about the 3 Sirene's melee combat abilities.  The battle started with Sanctuary ( to position myself just outside of sight range ), then followed up with Web, before moving into melee range ( with the Ring of Free Action ), expecting to just quarterstaff the sirene group to death.  Since webbed targets are (effectively) held, it was my assumption that the automatic hit I would get with the Quarterstaff +3 would be sufficient to take them down.  However, the hits I took from the sirene's touch weapon did enough damage to make me nervous and I ended up having to Blind the last of the sirenes and use sling stones.  Only after the battle was over did I realize that Cast had INT 2.  Investigation using Near Infinity seems to indicate that the Sirene's touch weapon not only does damage, it can cause Confusion (found this out the hard way) and it drains 3 INT per hit.  Cast was 1 hit away from "Game Over, Dude".
  • I expected troubles in the Flesh Golem cave, they hit hard and are resistant to magic.  Surprisingly, blessbarkskin on animate dead was very effective, and it was quite easy.
  • I'm still not exactly sure how it happened, but Taugosz was very resistant to Blindness and other spells, and came within a whisker (2hp) of killing Cast.  He only survived by running away until he had enough clearance to cast Invisibility.  After that, moving away and using Algernon's Cloak was sufficient to charm "Big T", and he helped finish clearing outside the tent and stepped in with Cast to do the interior.
  • The bandit leader's tent fell quickly, with Silence on the mage, Blindness on the archer, and good ol' "Big T" dealt with both melee baddies.  The lightning trap was just taken with the Boots of Grounding for minimal damage.
  • The biggest hassle was the lack of good Wizard spells.  For a long time, I had a choice between Ghost Armor or nothing at third.  Stinking Cloud, which I expected to have as a staple in my repertoire, was impossible to find for the longest time (finally found one in the Firewine Ruins).
Overall, some more experimentation with finding spell combinations that work ( e.g. Animate Dead + Stinking Cloud, Protection From FireRing of Fire ProtectionWand of Fire, Web + Ring of Free Action, etc.)

I do need to go pick up the Wand of Monster Summoning.

I feel comfortable with my current power level... up until the battle at the palace.  Cast takes so long to kill things, unless I can hopefully Greater Malison + Blind on the Dopplegangers, I have no idea what else I can do to take them down before they can kill off the Dukes.  I considered casting Oty's Resilient Sphere on the Dukes but I'm guessing that would be seen as a hostile action.

I use firefox all the time on these forums, but I also use the latest one (version 10). But agree with Grond0, if you think problem might be your browser, try Internet Explorer or Chrome.

The SCS greater dopplegangers are pretty vicious so you might struggle to win using blind - to do this successfully you would need to get lots of them to chase you round while you try the occasional spell.  Your skeletons should be very useful in this battle because of their resistance to the dopplegangers spells / abilities.

Another way to win this battle is to get some of the dopplegangers to chase you out of the main room - this freezes the action there and gives you plenty of time to deal with the chasers and come back for more.

Final update for Raven.

Raven had no trouble in the palace fight.  He used potion buffs for protection and successfully got most of the dopplegangers to concentrate on him.  He killed the one attacking Liia first and the remainder rapidly followed - Raven only taking a single wound.Image IPB

The same buffs took him safely through the maze before the scroll of magic protection ran out.  He then used his magic ring for the first time to turn invisible to get past the Undercity party.  Inside the temple he put on another scroll of magic protection and some potion buffs and then lured Sarevok into a corner before using an invisibility potion.  That left only Angelo roaming round, but he wouldn't become visible while the scroll was up so Raven edged towards the corner until Diarmid showed and then engaged him in a missile duel - which he won easily.Image IPB

Taking a step further activated an invisible Tazok.  He hit hard and rapidly forcing Raven to retreat and use his superior mobility to take Tazok down with throwing daggers. Image IPB

Raven then moved well out of range of Semaj to make sure that he didn't activate and waited for the scroll to wear off.  The instant it did Angelo attacked with a spook spell,Image IPB but that bounced off the green amulet.  Engaging Angelo in melee Raven killed him quite rapidly and then went in search of Semaj.  He dispelled Raven's potion buffs, but there were plenty more available to renew his protection.  However, even against AC-10 Sarevok hits nearly all the time so Raven had to use his advantage from boots / potion of speed to run round while throwing the odd dagger against Semaj.Image IPB

With Semaj dead Sarevok could finally be wounded and some more throwing daggers got him to near death before Raven closed for the coup de grace.Image IPB

Slightly drunk on victory Raven forgot the Undercity party was still there and ran into them on the way out.  However, he still had half a dozen invisibility potions in his backpack so there was no problem getting past them in order to report back to the palace (to be sent to Athkatla).
