Well, I moved on to fight Sarevok. His minions are not that bright. Sarevok sensed me in the shadows and sent Tazok, Samaj and Angelo to the front. I used the ring of invisibilty just after Angelo had cast a fireball. Hilarity ensued as Semaj and Tazok attacked Angelo! Firecam sat back invisible enjoying the show. Angelo killed Semaj.
Image IPB
Tazok killed Angelo.
Image IPB
Firecam chunked Tazok.((So it SHOULD be completely impossible for Tazok to return in the second one even though he does))
Image IPB
Image IPB
Sarevok is badly Injured right now and Firecam have two healing potions left. Pointers?
IDEA!
Run behind a statue, hide in the shadows and run across. I should be able to then cast my two healing spells and hide in the shadows again. backstab sarevok and run around the statue. Whenever sight of Sarevok is lost, hide in the shadows again, backstab, repeat.

It worked exactly as planned!

I've seen this happen with quite a few opponents.  It's a long time since I've played much with vanilla BG1, but it certainly can occur in vanilla BG2.

Congratulations on your victory and good luck in Amn.

Here's my second entry.  Original huh?  I wanted to use my sons name again cause I don't get to see him much (military duties) so this gives us something to chat about - that is how his guy is doing - when we talk on the phone.  He's ten and has learned to play better than me

Sorry, I play slowly and maybe I don't post like everyone else but if you'll suffer my company over here, I'd like to see how far I can get. I've made it past Tarnesh and Silke (barely).

Candlekeep to FAI (Prologue & Chapter 1)

I’d finished morning prayers & was winding up my chores before beginning my combat training w/Jondalar & the Gatewarden when suddenly Gorion hands me 100gp & tells me we need to leave the keep as soon as practical. With no word on where we are headed, he tells me to gather whatever I need & meet him on the steps of the library. While I took care of the last few last errands & some final combat I was twice beset by assassins before ever we left Candlekeep. Something was definitely wrong & I finished up with all haste. In no time, we were headed across Lion’s Way headed for places unknown.

Key Event: As we were headed across Lion’s Way under cover of darkness we were suddenly ambushed by an armored fiend of some kind, two ogres and what I think was a Cleric. Gorion started casting spells and hollered at me to run, which to my shame, I did. Before I knew it I was alone in the darkness. The sounds of the battle had died away. I knew in my heart Gorion was gone.

At dawn, I met up with Imoen who’d followed us at a distance after we left Candlekeep. We gathered Gorion’s belongings & journeyed to the Friendly Army Inn (FAI) where Gorion told me to go should we become separated. From there we travelled the road leading east through Lion’s Way and Coast Way and then north to the FAI. We killed 4 Gibberlings in Lion’s Way before being attacked by 8 of them while on the road through Coast Way. While I was surrounded by about 6 of them, Imoen was being harassed by a couple of them that she couldn’t shake.  She tried to avoid them and get to where she could provide ranged support for me but they persisted and killed her. I finally managed to destroy all the little b-st-rds. I grabbed Imoen, loaded her gear & headed for the FAI, desperately hoping there was a Priest there. Thankfully, a Gnomish Priestess named Gellena was able to raise Imoen for 100gp.

We wanted to get a bed & some rest but another assassin, a mage, attacked us just as we got to the steps. Imoen was still very weak and needed rest so I hollered at her to stay back. I quaffed the Potion of Speed I was carrying for her & charged up the steps to try and cut him down before he got off a spell. The mageImage IPB cast a Mirror Image on himself but I was still able to land a solid blow to his body and broke his morale. He ran aimlessly but the FAI guards & I ran him down in the courtyard and ended his existence in the Faerun. We met up with Khalid & Jaheira easily enough and after spending some time getting acquainted made plans to head toward Nashkel.

Treasure Acquired: (Legend: Sold (S); General Party Use (GP); Stanley (St), Minsc (Mi), Khalid (Kh) etc; Spellbook (Sb): Tarnesh’s Spell Book (Im); Misc. arms, gems, scrolls (S); ~50gp

Leader Notes: I took Khalid’s chainmail because it disables his spell casting ability which the party needs. In turn, the chainmail will provide me better protection. I gave my Studded Leather to Imoen and directed the three of them to focus on ranged support in combat. I asked Khalid to memorize protection spells so that at the outset of combat he protects himself to compensate for his lack of armor.

Current Disposition:  Resting at the FAI.

Next Steps:  Khalid & Jaheira believe we need to head to Nashkel. I’ve got no better idea.

This was our first battle after Khalid & Jaheira joined us. They'd killed every Gib before I ever had to swing my sword!

                                                                               FAI to Beregost (Chapter 1)

After a night at the FAI the four of us set out for toward Nashkel. We headed south along the same road we’d come in on. At the crossroads we ran into two packs of Gibberlings which my companions annihilated before they ever reached us. Masterful!  Farther south, we killed four more for a total of 12.

In Beregost Imoen thought we should try the Feldepost Inn first. We did & almost ended up in a brawl w/a man who’d lost a son adventuring. That ended well enough but Feldepost didn’t have room for us so we tried the Red Sheaf & sure enough they did – only we had to kill another assassin to spend the night. A dwarf w/an axe accosted us as soon as we walked in. We killed him & were able to get some sleep.

The next day we visited Firebead Elvenhair, We were able to help him acquire a book he was looking for.  Oh yeah, while at the FAI we’d spoken w/a Gnome named Landrin who asked if we might rid her home in Beregost of a spider infestation. She asked if we could bring her one of the spider carcasses, her husband’s old boots & a bottle of wine when we returned. We took care of the task but it wasn’t easy.

Key Event:  We met a Bard who offered us employment with an actress named Silke. When we met her, she asked us to assassinate some men she claimed were threatening her. It appeared clear she lying & when we declined she became hostile. Turns out, she was quite an accomplished mage. We were doing well but then she used an invisibility spell. We tried to wait her out knowing that she’d already used Invisibility, Mirror Image, Ghost Armor & Dire Charm but finally we left for a few hours & when we returned she’d reloaded. She killed Imoen & Khalid quickly. Jaheira & I played a long, deadly game of cat & mouse w/her before I used a Potion of Invisibility, slipped up behind her & crushed her skull w/my Two-Handed Sword. We then headed to the Temple of the Morning to enlist the aid of the Priest to raise Imoen & Khalid. We decided to take the Bard, Garrick, into our party as he was now out of work.

We headed west of Beregost to try & retrieve a short sword for a Hobbit we met in the Red Shief. He said a Gnoll had taken it from him & that he’d pay 50gp for its return.  While travelling we met a Ranger/Archer named Kivan & I readily accepted his services. We also found out a mage lives there & he has a nice selection of things we need – but can’t afford right now.

Treasure Acquired:  (Legend: Sold (S); General Party Use (GP); Stanley (St), Imoen (IImage IPBm), Khalid (Kh) etc; Spellbook (Sb): Elven Spear of Entanglement (Ki); Potions: Defense (Kh), Absorption (Ga); Gauntlets of Fumbling (S); Misc. arms, weapons, gems; ~500gp

Leader Notes: . Never, ever let a mage off the hook when you’ve gotten them to expend their arsenal.  Excited about adding Kivan to the party - every Paladin needs a Ranger on his staff.  We need Garricks extra missile weapon but I'm really looking for another knight or two.

Current Disposition:  Recuperating at the Burning Wizard.

Next Steps:  Take Landrin’s things to the FAI; then south towards Nashkel.

Game Notes/Questions: WOW! Never used SCS before!  [b]Making Mages smarter? Make them harder!

Promotions:  Jaheira advanced to 2nd Lvl Druid; Kivan & Garrick were 2nd Lvl on joining.

It certainly makes them smarter and that normally means harder.  You need to be a bit careful about assuming they've expended all their arsenal because some spells may be reserved for particular situations.  As an example you may have been engaging a mage at range and worked through magic missiles, MMM, acid arrows etc and believe they are now harmless - only to find they've been saving a sunfire up for the time when enemies come into melee range!

Umbra is still fit and well and, barring errors, should have an excellent chance of making it from here.

In the city she started off by picking up the tome of dexterity, then went to Ramazith's tower.  Potion of insulation + boots gave him immunity against lightning and then she used stealth attacks to work her way through all the opposition.  Got a bit of money by using a potion of perception to safely steal some goodies from the Silvershield estate.  Also picked up the Helm of Balduran just as a very long shot that it might become of some use later in BG2.  Got the tome of wisdom from a cleric, then continued the vendetta against Umberlee priestesses by backstabbing Jalantha (which also allowed resurrection of a young boy).

As it was nearly 4 days since her last rest I felt justified in allowing Umbra to sleep - she tried trapping Marek, but the traps bounced off his stoneskin so she introduced him to her new friend Larze instead.  Marek succeeded in blinding Larze, but it didn't do him much good.
Image IPB
While in the vicinity Umbra also stole the cloak off Quenash's back.

Stealthed up to investigate the Iron Throne and then got sent to Candlekeep.  On the way bought shadow armour and poison dagger (not really got any use for the latter, but nothing else to spend money on).  While in Beregost met a strange man who was well behind the times with his news. Also hopped over to Durlag's Tower to pick up the tome there.  Umbra was unable to detect the trap on the altar so used a potion of clarity.

On the way back from Durlag's Tower the first bandit ambush of the game triggered.  However, having stocked up in Baldur's Gate the use of a potion of invisibility was no longer so much of a concern (another was used up in a skeleton archer ambush later, but she's still got 6 or 7 left).  At Candlekeep let Rieltar go with a warning, but got arrested anyway.  While in the catacombs took the opportunity to stock up on treasure.  I wasn't sure how hard the traps there were to disarm so used a potion of perception to get up to 105%.  A teleporting phase spider and a doppleganger got backstabbed to give her freedom to work in.  I then decided to use the ring of invisibility to allow her to disarm traps near the rest of the phase spiders without any risk.  However, the spiders teleported in as soon as she opened the tomb, so she had to quickly run and hide anyway.  Pausing on entrance to the spider caverns and immediately hiding foiled the ambushing phase spiders and Umbra safely exited and returned to the city.

Back at the Iron Throne a couple of flame strikes from the remaining Iron Throne party just failed to take out Cythandria and Umbra had to rely on her own resources.  A bit of running (using boots and potion of speed) dispersed the golems and Umbra then went up and down the stairs using stealth shots and backstabs to finish off Cythandria.  There was one close call here, when I was surprised by the first occasion that Cythandria was able to see through Umbra's invisibility (it happened several times subsequently, so Umbra stuck close to the stairs).  She let loose with a MMM and Umbra only just had time to get down the stairs before it arrived.

Then killed an innocent to reduce her reputation and rested to get the evil version for her final Bhaal power.  She's now about to take on Slythe.

& I'm out again. Nimbul and Tranzig were zapped under the Kazgaroth horn protection but Taugosz Khosann came to help Credus and after kiting round the map various distractions (family not game) ended with a few hammer strikes.

Good luck

Sorry about that Gate70. It's no fun to get hammered...too bad you didn't have a potion of absorption +10 defense to crushing damage quite helpful against Khosann if in melee range.

Greetings !

Here is my first try here. I introduce you the main character, Roland: neutral good human sorcerer.
Stats were rolled 10 times and the best roll was retained, resulting in the following stats:
Image IPBUploaded with ImageShack.us

The first two level 1 spells picked were Magic Missiles and Spook.
One proficiency point into slings.

In Candlekeep, Roland rested and then went to see what was new around. He was surprise to be attack by two brigands, and he fled. Fortunately he was not followed outside. However he easily dispatched some rats in the storehouse for which he received a hefty ransome. After doing some errands, Gorion announced him of the iminent departure, so he packed up and traveled eastward, only to be ambushed by a strange and dangerous party. Gorion was slain while fighting with a large armored monstruosity, allowing Roland to flee.

The next morning is especially cruel. Imoen appeared and together they went to the slaughter site, recovering a note. They burried Gorion:
Image IPBUploaded with ImageShack.us

Keeping to road to avoid dangers, they encountered two shady individuals. Safety being in numbers, they teamed up uneasy and traveled towards Friendly Arm Inn. On the road, Tymora smiled upon them:
Image IPBUploaded with ImageShack.us

On Coast Way, a strange old wizard of sorts hailed them, and they proceed to FAI. Even on roads, there were danger on every step, like bandits, war dogs and wolves:
Image IPBUploaded with ImageShack.us

An interesting ring is noticed in a crack in a rock:
Image IPBUploaded with ImageShack.us

They arived at FAI during night, and headed directly to the inn being weary. However, on stairway to inn, they were hailed by an individual who turned to be a hostile mage. A concentrated attack with magic and weapons quickly dispatched him:
Image IPBUploaded with ImageShack.us

Imoen picked up his spell book and began playing with it:
Image IPB

Entering the inn, they found Khalid and Jaheira, who offered their protection. Since they were friendly figures, the two shady individuals Xzar and Montaron were left behind at the inn.
Investigating the neighborhood, a local lady asked for assistance in recovering a family ring. The good Roland agreed, and soon the ring was looted off the body of a stinking hobgobling who was roaming outside the safety of walls.
Image IPBUploaded with ImageShack.us

In a small hollow near a tree trunk, a weird ring is noticed, which proves to be a powerful item which doubles the number of spells Roland can cast a day, from 3 to 6.
Image IPB

Resting for the night at the inn, the party headed south. Exploring the Coast Way, they stumbled upon an ogre. Jaheira launched an Entangle, and to her despaired she misses, targeting too far behind the ogre:
Image IPB
Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Khalid tries to save the situation, running around to lure the ogre back into entangle. Unfortunately the ogre saves while the rest of the team gets entangled instead, trying to keep in range of missile weapons. Khalid running around draws also the attention of a nearby bandit and war dog. Desperately, Roland fires a Spook at the ogre, which get afraid, but still gets to swing at the entangled Jaheira, the blow nearly killing her. Eventially the ogre fells upon missiles, and the rest of hostile creatures are also taken care of.

In the same are, the party encounters a pack of bandits who made a camp on the spot of a ruined caravan:
Image IPBUploaded with ImageShack.us

The bandits are strong and Khalid gets badly wounded. He needs to resort to an potion of speed, while Jaheira intervenes with Heal spells. Roland fires a Spook at the bandit leaders, but the veteran bandit succesfully saves from the spell.
Image IPBUploaded with ImageShack.us

The battle is tense, but eventually the bandits fell one by one. An interesting item is found upon their bodies
Image IPBUploaded with ImageShack.us

All along the area are signs of bandit activity:

Fighting their way through packs of bandits and war dogs, the party of Roland eventually arrives to the safety of Beregost :)

Umbra is now sitting in the temple contemplating her final challenge.

Slythe was no problem.  I wanted to save her traps for the palace fight, but Larze was more than capable of taking out Slythe while Umbra stayed out of it.  Krystin was left to mourn as Umbra strolled off with the invitation.
Image IPB

At the palace the slight staging of the greater dopplegangers activation meant only 1 was caught by traps.
Image IPB
Three then followed Umbra upstairs and were treated to backstabs - this one I think was pretty close to her record hit.
Image IPB
Back downstairs shooting arrows in support of the Flaming Fist killed one dopple and sent the last one panicking down into the dungeons.  Putting it out of its misery got Umbra up to her XP cap.
Image IPB
While there I couldn't resist stealing the treasure, although it's not actually of any use to Umbra (some parties harder up for funds might find the gems and arrows of dispelling handy though).

After talking to Belt Sarevok had a brief paddy before making a run for it.
Image IPB
Umbra followed through the maze.  Initially I was intending to kill everything en route just to avoid any mistakes on the way back.  However, I decided the skeleton warrior archers were too dangerous to tackle there and left them, though the rest of the creatures (and all the traps) were dealt with.  Umbra then stealthed past the Undercity party and Tamoko to arrive at the temple.

Final update for Umbra

She undertook the final battle equipped for every eventuality.
Image IPB

After taking the potions of perception she had a decent stealth ability, although her attempts were probably still failing around 2 out of 3 times, which slowed the battle down.
Image IPB

First thing was to stealth near the corner and attract Sarevok's attention with an arrow of dispelling.
Image IPB
Here he comes to investigate (Umbra now successfully hidden).  From experience I know that Diarmid, Semaj and Tazok are following and will stay next to him, although the latter 2 are invisible.
Image IPB

With Angelo now on his own Umbra inched around until she spotted him.  She had to be relatively unprotected or Angelo would just stay invisible, but her potions could take care of any threats from spells, while she kept her distance to avoid being targeted by missiles.  Angelo's first attempt was a chaos spell (turned away by green amulet), but Umbra then missed with 8 arrows of dispelling in a row.  Angelo could not normally react to her stealth shots in time to respond, but did manage to force her to take a potion of magic blocking to foil a minor sequencer.
Image IPB

Eventually Umbra's shots told and she switched to arrows of detonation, which finished Angelo off quite quickly.
Image IPB
The skeleton warrior arising from Angelo's ashes was probably more dangerous than he was.  Failed stealth attempts required an invisibility potion to be used here.
Image IPB

I experimented with the scroll of undead protection, but it didn't prevent the skelly from trying to target Umbra.  So she manouevred it over to the pillars and did lots of running round those, while trying to hide (at one point failing 4 times in a row).  One advantage of being here is that hiding successfully gives a chance of making the skelly stay still for a moment to allow a backstab - in the open room it would always be on the move.  Several backstabs later and there was one less enemy.
Image IPB

Umbra worked through her various exploding potions in the area where the remaining enemies were and then started on the necklace of missiles.  The first shot from that killed Semaj; unlike the characters the skellies will investigate damage from a source they can't see and, with no distance attack, that skelly soon fell to backstabs as well.  Tazok was the next to go, but his skelly seemed to be trapped by the others and hence didn't get released until Diarmid fell to the penultimate blast from the necklace (he had lots of extra-healing potions, which protected him for a while).
Image IPB

With 2 skellies on the loose hiding was difficult - made much more so by the fact that the potions of perception had now run out and Umbra was also fatigued.  As a result 2 more invisibility potions were consumed
Image IPB
until she got the archer on its own round the pillars and finished it off.  The remaining one quickly followed, leaving Sarevok without defenders.

It would have been quicker to kill him using run & shoot tactics, but backstabbing seemed more suitable for a thief and Sarevok eventually caught on to the fact that he was dead.
Image IPB

One final invisibility potion was needed on exit when Umbra ran into Tamoko,
Image IPB
but with no more need to conserve resources that was no problem.  She could also thankfully dispose of the large stack of dusty healing potions accumulated on her travels.  She got safely back to the palace to see Duke Belt and is ready to start her adventures in Amn (where I am not expecting her to come through undamagedImage IPB).

Her final information sheet shows a relatively small number of deaths - reflecting her attitude of trying to minimise conflict where possible to reduce the possibilities for mistakes.

@Grond0 : while you did a very hard work to accomplish this and it was pleasant to read you, I prefer challenges that respect some roleplay (or logical) rules, and don't abuse broken things.

Your challenge would have been almost impossible without Algernon cloak. This cloak , alone, utterly destroys any challenge.

Necklace of missile or exploding potions that bypass mage protections are not right. They should have a power level similar to their effect (power level 3 for necklace...).
This and many others items are overpowered too (arrow of detonation, protection from magic, ...)

You are also using unlimited stacking items, which makes solo a lot easier.
I still wonder why you carry healing and anti-poison potions, they seem useless in your challenge.

Finally, I've never played with SCS as I have my own AI mod but a group should stick together, and you shouldn't be able to lure them one by one. If it is possible, then scripts are not good enough.

Ahhh okay. I'll look into mods like that for my next game. I'm only using EasyTutu right now.

I think I'm running a pretty good record so far. My Fighter/Cleric got killed in the Undercity by an arrow of Detonation and my Assassin killed Sarevok.

@Grond0 How did you manage to survive with such a low Hide in Shadows? I used Speed potions instead of those boots.

I don't put down anything, I have just gave my opinion on a few things, is it forbidden ?
And if you have read me with attention, you would have noticed that I liked his challenge.

I have played many no-reloads a long time ago, between 2000 and 2004.
And I will again when my AI mod will be finished :)

Grond0 How did you manage to survive with such a low Hide in Shadows? I used Speed potions instead of those boots.

I think I mentioned at the start of my run that I wanted to get set traps up to 100% to avoid any chance of damaging myself.  For similar reasons I wanted a decent find traps score.  There was no real need for a high open locks, but I put that up to 95% for roleplaying reasons (what thief is willing to pass a locked chestImage IPB).  The result of those was that it was only at the last 2 levels that any points were available for stealth.  That certainly meant lots of failures, but that was expected so I also planned on using safe points where Umbra could re-stealth.  On many occasions she would stop before reaching enemies and drop stealth before re-stealthing to guarantee she would have enough time to reach her objective.

I think the only time I used potions of speed was in the final battle, but you might want to note that it is not an either/or choice.  You can use both at once to go even faster!

@Aigleborgne.  In response to some of your points.

Your challenge would have been almost impossible without Algernon cloak. This cloak , alone, utterly destroys any challenge.

Not at all.  Using the cloak in no way guarantees that opponents will not attack you:
- it doesn't work on everything
- there's a saving throw
- auto-pause on sight of enemy does not work if a charmed enemy is already in sight
- it's easy to overlook creatures coming from the sides or behind you
- SCS opponents are almost bound to target your character and not charmed creatures given the chance.
It is true it is very powerful if used intelligently, but far less to my mind than the use of stealth (which not many people ever claim as 'broken').  I didn't use the cloak a lot in my run and only did so at all to keep interest going by varying methods of attack.  The only encounter where it could conceivably have made a difference would have been Slythe.  The combination of stealth, traps, backstab and potion of firebreath may not have a 100% chance of success against him, but I'm pretty sure it would be well over 99% (and even if that failed there would still be a good chance of success using other methods of attack).

Necklace of missile or exploding potions that bypass mage protections are not right.

If you're talking about my final battle (the only one in which I used those items) they did not bypass mage protections.

You are also using unlimited stacking items, which makes solo a lot easier.

Absolutely no difference at all to my run.  The only stacking items which could conceivably have helped me would have been arrows (if that forced more exposure to ambushes when going to buy more).  The only place in the game I bought arrows was at the start in Candlekeep, but as I only used just over 600 standard arrows in total I could have bought enough anyway for the whole game using just the basic BG2 stacks of 40.  Depending how you play then having a large stack of healing potions may help, particularly in BG2 with simulacra (though I use a personal restriction of 5 per combat in that situation anyway).

I still wonder why you carry healing and anti-poison potions, they seem useless in your challenge.

I agree they were entirely useless, but it amused me to treat the increasing stack of healing potions as a sort of trophy.

Finally, I've never played with SCS as I have my own AI mod but a group should stick together, and you shouldn't be able to lure them one by one. If it is possible, then scripts are not good enough.

SCS actually uses extremely good scripts - far, far better than the original game.  However, with enough experience it is possible to find and exploit weaknesses in the script.  The weakness in the final battle was not that you can lure opponents out one by one (you can't), nor that Angelo can be caught on his own (his behaviour adds an intelligent randomness that makes the encounter generally more difficult).  Instead the weakness is that Sarevok does not react to being damaged by something he can't see.  This is not standard SCS behaviour and I think it might be a by-product of the fact that Sarevok can't take real damage until all his 4 acolytes are dead - whatever the reason I agree it is a flaw in a really excellent product.

Looking your screenshots with all ogres charmed don't seem normal to me.
Charming some fighters and send them to fight wolves or whatever with fist so they will die is cheap.
Charm is very powerful, sure it can be resist but with unlimited  charges, it is just a matter of hit & run. And this is exactly what you did in some battles (Drasus for example).
Usually, with a mage, you can try some charm spells, but you don't many, maybe 2-3 at best. Because if too many fail, you are left with nothing or almost.
Now, it might be possible that you could do all these encounters without this cloak, I don't know. But in your story, you used it :)

I have played a solo fighter/thief and I agree it is very powerful. But backstab is a one time hit.
After, you need to hide again and it shouldn't be that easy.
One big problem is that this game is full of magical items. You can stack 15 invisibility potions, have boots of speed, and many haste potions. Everything is made for easy hit & run.
In this situation, yes, backstab is overpowered.
This is why I really like Hard Times mod, more realistic and looks more like a P&P campaign.

Necklace of missile or exploding potions that bypass mage protections are not right. If you're talking about my final battle (the only one in which I used those items) they did not bypass mage protections.

Necklace of missile is power level 9, which bypass minor globe or globe of invulnerability. Now, they could have other protection spells but it bypass the most used one in BG1.
Potions of explosions is power level 4, so it bypass minor globe.

SCS actually uses extremely good scripts - far, far better than the original game.

Original game scripts are extremely basic : attack nearest, cast spell on nearest, this is almost all.

Well, when you do an action, you are visible and thus, they should all come and cast spells like detect invisibilty. It should be become almost impossible to hide for long. This is something I will do for this final battle.

It's a tactic, different people use different tactics!  Personally I think it's quite a clever (and entertaining) way of solving a game problem.  I dare say there are things that I dislike you are quite happy with - for instance I think the bounty hunter traps are overpowered, which is why I put various restrictions on using those in the game.

Drasus would have been easy to kill with a combination of traps, stealth and spell equivalents (like bhaal powers or potion of firebreath).  Even if an attempted kill failed it's possible to leave the map and come back for another try (as was actually done with charm).  And of course there is nothing wrong with hit and run attacks - that's a large part of my fighting style (making use of arrows or fast melee weapons).

Usually, with a mage, you can try some charm spells, but you don't many, maybe 2-3 at best. Because if too many fail, you are left with nothing or almost.

I never suggested otherwise, just that it is not in the least necessary.  In fact mages also have unlimited spells in virtually every situation once they have learnt invisibility (as they can rest without danger).  I have completed the game with a level 1 character using no items at all (and the added complication of avoiding being awarded any xp).  I don't suppose you would approve of the tactics I used, but all I'm saying is that the game can be played in far more ways than you seem to be suggesting.

I have played a solo fighter/thief and I agree stealth is very powerful. But backstab is a one time hit.
After, you need to hide again and it shouldn't be that easy.

Maybe it shouldn't, but it is, which is why stealth is overpowered.  In this game I put almost no skill points into stealth, but in the past I've put all points in to make a character who never fails to hide in the dark (or underground) and rarely outdoors.  There is a small time lag between the backstab and the reaction to it.  Making use of this allows infinite backstabs anywhere with things to hide behind (corners, rocks, trees, pillars, different areas etc).  As a result there are few places where you cannot use repeated backstabs (at least against a single opponent).  In those few places you can use stealth shots (shoot from range and you can already have stepped back and hidden again before the missile even hits).

Necklace of missile is power level 9, which bypass minor globe or globe of invulnerability. Now, they could have other protection spells but it bypass the most used one in BG1.  Potions of explosions is power level 4, so it bypass minor globe.

The point I was trying to make is that stealth allows you to wait for mage protections to die down - as happened to Semaj in my final battle.

Good luck, but you may find it more difficult to script than you think!  I agree you become visible when using an item, but that doesn't mean anyone sees you as you can cast something like fireball from out of range.  A thief can re-stealth immediately after using an item, so someone coming to investigate will see nothing (and stealth uses are infinite - unlike spells like detect invisibility).  If you got rid of all the pillars in the room and set your characters for random movement at all times no-one is visible you might give them some sort of chance, but the only real way to defend would be to give them a 'follow' script for anyone whether visible or not - though personally I would class that as cheating by the computer.
